Rita Ora on Creating ‘Ask & You Shall Receive,’ Working With RAYE | How It Went Down | Billboard

In today’s episode of ‘How It Went Down,’ Rita Ora shares how she collaborated with RAYE on “Ask & You Shall Receive,” her movie inspiration for the music video and more!

Rita Ora:

What’s up, I’m Rita Ora, and this is How It Went Down for “Ask & You Shall Receive.” I got the demo sent to me in my email from RAYE, who is my Brit icon queen. The song felt really uplifting, super great for the summer. My last record was all about kind of love. And so I wanted this one to be sort of very, like, easy, you know, uplifting and vibey. “Ask and you shall receive” is such a famous mantra, and it’s exactly where I was at, and how I feel about life recently. Like, you know, if you want something, you gotta go get it, you’ve got to ask for help. And that’s what this song is about. It’s about being cheeky, feeling fun. And so that really resonated with me. The recording process was pretty great. I worked with my guy Cam, who records everything for me. There was a lot of words, as you listen to the song. And a lot of like runs I tried to add on, as many sort of stacks on the harmonies as I could. And then RAYE was sort of like coming in with her little bits and bobs. And I was like, How can we mesh our two worlds together? And so that’s what we did. We meshed all of our vocals together and it just feels really kind of milky and nice.

Shawn Mendes Announces New Album, Charli XCX’s ‘Guess’ Collab & More | Billboard News

Shawn Mendes announces his new self-titled album coming in October, Post Malone reveals his F-1 Trillion tracklist, and could Charli XCX’s collab on “Guess” be Billie? Keep watching to find out!

Narrator:
Shawn announces an album, Post posts his tracklist, and did Charli get Billie on the remix? Here are the latest music announcements.

Shawn Mendes posted a teaser video to his IG with the caption, “Music really can be medicine. 2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift.” Followed by the cover and title of his new album, Shawn, out Oct. 18. But you don’t have to wait that long for new music. “Why Why Why” and “Isn’t That Enough” off the album are coming Aug. 8.

A week later we’ll be getting Post Malone’s album, and now we know all the features. We’ve already heard a few collabs, like his Hot 100 chart topper “I Had Some Help,” but now we know Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll and Chris Stapleton are all on the album. Plus he’s recruited country legends Brad Paisley, Hank Williams Jr., Tim McGraw and the Dolly Parton.

Someone else who has a collab coming up? Charli XCX. She posted the cover art for a remix of “Guess” off her hit album Brat, and internet sleuths believe it could feature Billie Eilish. That’s based on the rings in the cover art and a recent appearance on Chicken Shop Date.

Megan Thee Stallion & Quavo Back Kamala Harris | Billboard News

Megan Thee Stallion opened for Kamala Harris’ Atlanta campaign, and Quavo shows up for the VP. Keep watching to see what they had to say!

Narrator:
Megan Thee Stallion kicked off Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign event in Atlanta, getting the crowd hyped. She even shared some backstage fun with the VP.

But she wasn’t the only one getting the crowd hyped. They showed off their excitement, singing along to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”

Another musician showed up for Kamala. Quavo, who lost his nephew and Migos partner Takeoff to gun violence, helped introduce Harris to the crowd of 10,000 people.

Quavo:
You can’t understand the struggles of gun violence if you’re not in the field and in the heart of it. So one thing I learned about Vice President Harris is that she always stands on business.

Narrator:
And then it came time for the VP to address the crowd, een fitting in a mention of the Atlanta native in her speech.

Kamala Harris:
Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been talking a big game about securing our border but he does not walk the walk. Or as my friend Quavo would say, he does not walk it like he talks it.

Ombré Brows With Celebrity Makeup Artist Anthony Nguyen & NYX Cosmetics | Billboard

Serve boss certified ombré eyebrows for your next concert and festival moment. Learn how to create the look with celebrity makeup artist Anthony H. Nguyen using the $8 NYX Powder Louder Brow Pencils.

Anthony Nguyen:
Hi, I’m celebrity makeup artist Anthony Nguyen, and I’m here today with NYX Professional Makeup and Billboard, and I’m going to show you how to do an ombre brow using the new Powder Louder Brow Pencil in multiple shades. An ombré brow is having a lighter brow blending into a darker shade.

When I think about a full brow, I think about Cindy Crawford and Brooke Shields — I really want to recreate something just like that. So I’m going to jump in with two shades for this look. The first shade I’m going to use is Espresso, and what I’m going to do first is use the spooly side and I’m just going to brush the hairs into place. What’s great about this product is that it’s very natural and lightweight, so it’s a great product to build.

Next, I’m going to grab the shade Auburn to kind of lighten up and brighten the center of the brow. What’s great about this product is that it’s only $8 and good quality.

NYX has always been a very reliable makeup. This product is fade and transfer resistant, so this is great for all-day wear. That’s it. That’s our ombré brow look using two different brow shades.

Simone Biles & More Gymnasts Compete to Stray Kids, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift & More | Billboard News

As Simone Biles and other gymnasts compete at the Paris Olympics, they’re bringing the heat with their routines and music choices. From Stray Kids to Taylor Swift, these girls have it going on. Keep watching to see more of their musical selections!

Katie Cao:
We all know Simone Biles is the GOAT, and when you’re the GOAT, you’ve gotta have the appropriate floor music. And Taylor Swift’s “…Ready for It?” is just one of the many pop songs you can hear at this year’s Olympics. Jordan Chiles, also of Team USA, has a medley of Queen Bey’s tracks in her floor music, with a little Destiny’s Child for good measure. Rebeca Andrade of Brazil is a Beyoncé fan as well, tumbling to Bee’s classic “Countdown.” Her teammate Jade Barbosa brought some Britney to Paris with “… Baby One More Time” music and “Oops (I Did It Again)” choreo.

And since it’s a global competition, you’d expect some global hits. Mexico’s Alexa Moreno is a true STAY, tumbling to a medley of STRAY KIDS hits. Good luck to all the women competing in Paris.
