Verzuz will reportedly make its return to Madison Square Garden in late summer where Jermaine Dupri and Sean “Diddy’ Combs will face off. Diddy confirmed the showdown with Busta Rhymes according to video footage, and Verzuz co-founder Swizz Beatz confirmed the news via social media.
Verzuz, now in its third season reportedly, which last took place in July 2022, is still one of the most anticipated music events of its sort. Dupri and Diddy were long positioned to square off with one another and the two mega-producers have both egged on the battle with some lighthearted chatter.
It would be a fitting battle to witness considering both men have dozens upon dozens of hits between them and have worked with some of the biggest names in the business on the production front. They’ve also been front-facing artists and are no strangers to performing in front of a large crowd.
With the Verzuz happening at MSG, it isn’t exactly neutral ground as Diddy was raised just up the way in Mount Vernon, N.Y. That said, Dupri made his mark early on as a background dancer for the legendary Hip-Hop trio, Whodini, and isn’t the type to back down from a challenge.
According to Diddy and Swizz, the battle will take place on Sept. 8 but more details are certain to emerge as the months roll on.

Jason Lee earned a reputation as one of the top names in the media when it comes to getting scoops on the follies of entertainers. After breaking the story of an alleged dustup between Usher and Chris Brown, folks on Twitter are calling Jason Lee a liar after the singer appeared in new footage looking unharmed.
Hollywood Unlocked published a story regarding an alleged argument between Usher and Chris Brown in a Las Vegas skating rink that was a birthday celebration for Brown. According to still unconfirmed reports, Brown was reportedly yelling at Teyana Taylor and Usher intervened. After Brown left the venue, Usher reportedly followed and was allegedly jumped.
Fast forward to just a few moments ago, Usher appeared on stage at the Lovers & Friends concert in Las Vegas without a scratch on his face after reports of a bloodied nose. Jason Lee saw his name trending on Twitter with comments blasting the media figure for misrepresenting what actually happened. In addition, Brown was also seen onstage at Lovers & Friends so it’s anyone’s bet at this point.
As it stands, details about what went down this weekend may never come out to the public but the speculation is heavy and the optics are looking crazy. For now, Twitter is cooking up Jason Lee on a sizzling fajita platter now and we’ve got the reactions below.

Reggaetón started in Panama and later continued evolving in Puerto Rico, combining elements of reggae music, Latin dancehall and hip-hop influences through the 1990s. Tego Calderón and more led the first wave of the genre, while Daddy Yankee brought the genre to the masses in 2004 with his hit “Gasolina.”
Ivy Queen, also known as the first lady of reggaetón, was the first female artist to break barriers within the genre. She got her start at a club called The Noise in Puerto Rico, where she was the first woman to ever step onto the stage and won in her very first battle. Her rebut single “Muchos Quieren Tubarme” stemmed from her performance at the club and cemented her status as a reggaetón star. In the time since, artists like Becky G, Natti Natasha and more have popped up, with Karol G and her album Mañana Será Bonito marking the first time an all-Spanish language album by a female artist reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

MoneySign Suede, a young rising rapper from Huntington Park, Calif., lost his life after he was reportedly stabbed in a shower while in prison and succumbed to the wounds. On Twitter, fans of MoneySign Suede are saluting the rapper as they mourn the loss across social media.
MoneySign Suede, real name Jaime Brugada Valdez, was signed to Atlantic Records in 2021 according to a report from the Los Angeles Times. Valdez was housed at the Correctional Training Facility (CTF) in Soledad, Calif., which is where he was found dead inside a shower stall this past Tuesday.
A statement from CTF reads as follows:
At approximately 9:55 p.m. on April 25, correctional officers responded when Brugada was not accounted for in his cell after a regular institutional count. During a search he was found unresponsive in another area of the housing unit with injuries consistent with a homicide.
Staff quickly initiated life-saving measures and summoned emergency services to transport Brugada to an on-site medical facility for treatment, where he was pronounced deceased at 10:00 p.m.
Officials have limited movement at the institution to facilitate the investigation being conducted by the CTF Investigative Services Unit, the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office and the Monterey County Coroner. The Office of the Inspector General was notified and the Monterey County Coroner will determine Brugada’s official cause of death.
MoneySign Suede released his album, Parkside Baby, last September. He also released a self-titled EP in early 2022 as well.

Jerry Springer, an early leader in the tabloid talk show and unscripted television space, has reportedly died. Springer, a former mayor of Cincinnati in the 1970s, engaged in a decades-long career as a broadcaster and host up until last year.
Jerry Springer, born Gerald Norman Springer on February 13, 1944, in London, England. His parents resettled in America and Springer attended public school in Queens, N.Y. ahead of attending Tulane University en route to earning a law degree from Northwestern University. Early on, Springer worked in the legal field and was a partner of a Cincinnati law firm before engaging in a career in politics.
Springer was elected to the Cincinnati City Council in 1971 and stepped down in 1974 after admitting to soliciting a prostitute. However, his admittance won over the public and he was eventually reelected. Via a now-defunct political arrangement, Springer was elected to serve one year as mayor of the city by the council and entered into a failed bid for the governor’s seat in Ohio in the early 1980s.
From politics, Springer began his career as a television journalist, working for local station WLWT in Cincinnati. The network helped Springer establish his eponymously-named show, Jerry Springer, in 1991, which ran in syndication until 2018. The program proved to be popular once it shifted into having guests confront one another onstage, often coming to blows in the process before security would break up the fracas.
In 2015, Springer started The Jerry Springer Podcast, and in 2019, he also hosted the courtroom series Judge Jerry until it was canceled in 2022.
According to a family spokesperson, Springer died with his family nearby in his Chicago home. Springer was previously diagnosed with cancer according to a statement from the family.

Rick Ross is bossing up by any means possible. He has offered Don Lemon a spot at one of his many Wingstop locations.
As spotted on TMZ the Miami, Florida talent did not waste any time in going to social media shortly after the news personality announced CNN had given him the boot. “Just found out Don Lemon was terminated from CNN. Damn, dawg,” Rick Ross said. “But guess what? The brother’s got your back. We’re hiring at Winstop, and for some reason, I believe you know what you doing with the lemon-pepper wings, so man, just send over your resume” he continued. “I’m going to make sure I get you in front of the right grill, brother. Stay solid, brother.”
Later on Rozay upped the ante and also included his newest venture into the mix. “Just came up with a wonderful idea — well, really, Don, you helped me come up with this,” he explained. “I need to hit the team over at Rap Star Energy Drink and let ’em know we should introduce the Don Lemon flavor. What y’all think? Aye, Don, we got you brother!”
On Monday, April 24 Lemon confirmed the rumors that the news channel was no longer in need of his services. “I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly.”

Harry Belafonte, an elegant actor, talented singer, and activist, has died according to still-developing reports. Belafonte was best known for his dashing good looks and golden voice, but he was also devoted to eliminating the struggles of Black people worldwide.
Harry Belafonte was born March 1, 1927, in New York, NY., and was raised in Harlem by his Jamaican-born parents. Belafonte began his singing career in the late 1940s and found fame in the 1950s, with his signature track, “Banana Boat Song (Day-O)” exploding onto the charts and remains a timeless classic to this day.
Belafonte is survived by his wife, Pamela, who was by his side when he passed, and his children Adrienne Belafonte Biesemeyer, Shari Belafonte, Gina Belafonte, David Belafonte and two stepchildren Sarah Frank and Lindsey Frank. Belafonte also leaves behind eight grandchildren.

To try and capture all the amazing things Belafonte did in his lifetime would nearly be impossible but what should be noted is that Belafonte never tired of seeking justice for his people and all those oppressed around the world.
Belafonte was also decorated heavily within the arts, winning three Grammy Awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement trophy, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Tony Award. Belafonte also won the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2014, completing the coveted EGOT honor.
Beyond the stage, film, and music, Belafonte also guest-starred on several television shows and his final film role occurred via Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman in 2018.

Word is that Fast X will be the final installment to the Fast & Furious franchise so y’all know Vin Diesel will be pulling out all the stops to ensure a memorable swan song and fans can’t wait to see what he has in store for them.
In the latest trailer for the upcoming “tenthquel,” we find Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family under attack by Dante (Jason Momoa) who’s out for revenge after Dom and his band of street racers killed his father, Hernan Reyes, in Fast Five. Yes, Dante waited four entire films before finally waiting his turn to take down the Toretto mafia. Luckily for Dom, he has his entire crew (sans The Rock’s Luke Hobbs) behind him but unfortunately for them, Dante has targets on their backs too.
From Ludacris to Tyrese to John Cena (Dom’s brother in the franchise), no one is safe as Dante doesn’t just want an eye for an eye, but an entire body for the loss of his father. Filled with gunfire, fist fighting, and of course, car chases, the latest trailer is everything you’d expect from the world of the fast and furious. Whether or not this is in fact the final installment into the franchise is anyone’s guess but don’t be surprised if a few spinoffs eventually hit the big screen.

Chance The Rapper became a viral hot topic after video footage of him dancing suggestively on women at Jamaican Carnival went wide. On Twitter, the Chicago rapper’s marriage was called into question with some folks acting completely clueless about the nature of these events
Jamaica Carnival wrapped on Tuesday (April 18) with revelers and dancers hitting the road and representing in style. Chance The Rapper was among several celebrities on the island taking in the festivities and one video, in particular, showed Little Chano having a blast behind a beautiful woman. As it stands, this manner of suggestive dancing is normal and even expected during these types of gatherings.
In our search, Chance The Rapper performed the same whine and grind move on other women aside from the video that had everyone talking and questioning the devotion he has to his wife. Some folks on Twitter are clearly clutching their pearls after seeing the footage while some are explaining that these things happen and it shouldn’t be taken for more than what it is.
Thankfully, several people understand what transpired is simply just a dance. Sure, it’s sexually suggestive and over the top, but have you seen what men and women wear at Carnival? Exactly. It’s just good fun at the end of the day.

Frank Ocean remains one of the music industry’s most beloved acts as evidenced by the stir he causes on social media at even a mere mention of music or a performance. The singer and songwriter graced the Coachella stages over the weekend but fans on Twitter were miffed because of the lacking livestream options.
Frank Ocean was the headlining act on Coachella’s mainstage on Sunday (April 16) but unlike every other performance before it, the event would not be aired on YouTube or any other streaming platform. The announcement of an actual livestream was teased on Twitter by YouTube but that tweet was deleted and replaced with the tweet below.
On Twitter, disappointed fans aired out their grievances and questioned why Coachella or Ocean would make a decision given that he is rarely seen onstage these days.
Fans in attendance did attempt to capture footage of the performance but some were shut down by security guards and the like. Further, a security guard working the front of the stage ended up becoming a social media hit due to his energetic dancing.
Reports on the ground also revealed that Ocean gave a loving tribute to his late brother, Ryan Breaux, who died of injuries after an automobile accident in 2020 at the age of 18.
Adding to the issues with the livestream, some fans who did catch glimpses of the set were left underwhelmed while others hailed the performance as Ocean’s big return to the masses.
Frank Ocean will headline Coachella again for its upcoming second weekend. No word yet if the performance will be streamed or not.
