As of late Sexyy Red’s been making all kinds of noise thanks to some pretty interesting music videos and now the up and coming rapper has decided to show love to a bygone era that may be making a comeback in 2024.

In her latest visuals to “Get It Sexyy,” Red takes it back to the early 2000’s when the clothes was hella baggy, Apple computers took up half a table and long white tee’s were all the rage. Heck, even Drake got in on the throwback festivities.

Speaking of throwbacks, West Coast legend Kurupt is showing that he’s still got some bars left to spit and in his Kokane assisted clip to “Microphone Fiend” the DPG OG borrow’s Rakim’s classic instrumental and shows these youngn’s a thing or two about intricate wordplay and rhyme patterns. Salute!
Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from LayDaPlugg, Humble Gz, and more.

Beyoncé has long since been considered one of the most innovative artists of her generation, as evidenced by the warm reception to her recent country music-influenced album, Act II: Cowboy Carter. This past Monday, Beyoncé accepted The Innovator Award from the legendary Stevie Wonder at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards and delivered a moving speech.
The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards took place on Monday (April 1) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Calif. The star-studded event saw Beyoncé up for R&B song of the year for “Cuff It along with a R&B artist of the year nod.
Stevie Wonder took to the stage to announce the Houston superstar as the recipient of The Innovator Award and was met with measurable applause. Yielding the stage to Queen Bey, Wonder was showered with praise from the singer and entertainer who casually dropped that Wonder played the harmonica on her “Jolene” remake from Cowboy Carter.
Beyoncé came to the stage decked out in a Black and gold leather outfit no doubt inspired by the recent themes from her latest album, complete with a hat that was also emblazoned with gold. After thanking Wonder for his contributions to music and her album, Beyoncé spoke with confidence and eloquence.
“Tonight, you called me an innovator and for that, I’m very grateful,” Beyoncé said. “Innovation starts with a dream. But then you have to execute that dream and that role can be very bumpy. Being an innovator is saying what everyone believes is impossible. Being an innovator often means being criticized, which often will test your mental strength. Being an innovator is leaning on faith, trusting that God will catch you and guide you.”
Also winning that night was SZA, who took home the R&B Artist and R&B Song award for “Snooze” from the singer’s SOS album, which also took home an award.
The full acceptance speech can be viewed in the clip below.

For the past few weeks, Travis Scott has been hard at work dropping off new visuals. Now, the rapper, who also happens to be one of the biggest names in the sneaker game, continues to bring more work as he revisits his last LP, Utopia.

Linking up with Playboi Carti for the visuals to “FE!N,” the pair takes viewers on quite the visual experience as they use fast-speed camera work to capture their performances and that of the participants in the video. This joint will leave you dizzy if you’re not careful. Just sayin.’

Back in Brooklyn Maino does some self-reflecting and in his clip for “Forgive Me,” the man asks the women who’ve known him to forgive him for doing wrong to them throughout his life. Good luck with that, bro.
Check out the rest of today’s drops and some joints you might’ve missed over the weekend including work from TG Gates, Ducey Gold, and more.

Ice Cube made waves by offering University of Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark $5 million to play up to 10 games in the Big3, which would certainly shift things for the popular 3-on-3 league. Ice Cube says that as of now, Caitlin Clark has yet to respond and even said he’d move things around to not interfere with the WNBA schedule.
Ice Cube sat down with The Pat McAfee Show to share the finer points of the deal and how he hasn’t heard back from Clark presumably because the Hawkeyes are in the middle of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. As Cube explains, Clark, 22, can earn major coin for just 10 weeks of play within the Big3 and he realizes it’d be a big boost for the league he co-founded.

Clark is no doubt going to be a top selection heading into the 2024 WNBA Draft, in which the Indiana Fever owns the top pick overall. Considering Clark’s massive star power and ice-cold game on the court, the Fever’s choice should be a no-brainer.
Check out Ice Cube breaking down his offer to Caitlin Clark with Pat McAfee below.

Drake and Lil Wayne have been in the musical spotlight for years and have dozens of songs that few people could commit to memory with perfection. So it was baffling to see fans overreact to the revelation that Drake and Lil Wayne employed a teleprompter during a recent concert.
Drake and Lil Wayne joined together onstage during a weekend stop in Sunrise, Fla. for the Canadian superstar’s It’s All A Blur tour. The pair performed the track “Right Above It,” which was a single on Tunechi’s 2010 album, I Am Not A Human Being. It was also the theme song for the HBO sports drama Ballers featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Fans who either attended the show or saw footage noticed that a teleprompter was used to help the two keep pace with the song, and it doesn’t appear that Drizzy or Weezy skipped a beat during their set. That said, a passionate debate was sparked with many wondering if the use of teleprompters during a Hip-Hop concert was a new thing.
Of course, when you’re trying to deliver a perfect set for paying fans, you want to stick the landing and why wouldn’t an artist use every technical advantage to make sure attendees are getting their money’s worth? R&B singers do this all the time and given the bodies of work both of these major artists have produced, they’re certainly not going to remember a song they recorded more than 14 years ago.
We’ve got the reactions from fans on X, formerly Twitter, debating the finer points of using a teleprompter for some odd reason. It’s all pretty silly if you ask us but hey.

Madlib has been a part of several projects as both a rapper and producer that Hip-Hop aficionados praise heavily but few have reached the critical heights of Madvillainy. On the 20th anniversary of the collaborative project featuring Madlib and the late MF DOOM, the Beat Konducta gave a strong salute to the masked supervillain.
Taking to Instagram, Madlib shared a clip of a video for Madvillainy standout cut “All Caps” and captioned the post with, “20 years. RIP to the Villain.”

It was remarkable considering the Oxnard, Calif. native isn’t on social media much at all. As it stands, Madvillainy is considered a modern-era classic and influenced several rappers such as many members of the Pro Era collective (Joey BadA$$, Chuck Strangers, Kirk Knight, etc.) and Yasiin Bey among others.
Peanut Butter Wolf, the founder of Stones Throw Records which put out the album, also chimed in on Complex Music’s post about Madvillainy and shared that it is the only album on the label to achieve gold status.
From IG:
Here’s some more facts. This was an album where Madlib chose to record the beats in my basement that we called The Bomb Shelter (it was a literally a concrete bomb shelter). DOOM recorded his vocals in my bedroom down the hall where we also had @ecoleye do a photo shoot that became the album cover. The LA release party was at The Fonda (a modest sized venue) and we stacked the bill w/ me, J Rocc, Madlib, Dilla, and Common, besides (the headliner) DOOM because we were afraid it wouldn’t sell out. We did a few more shows that month with the same lineup in a few major markets to small but very excited crowds. That was it in terms of promotion, besides doing 3 LOW BUDGET music videos (2 in the same day) that I convinced DOOM into reluctantly doing. It’s the first (and only) album on my 28 year old label to go gold.
The dense poetics of Madvillainy have never been replicated as MF DOOM had a style so unique to his vocal tone that it wouldn’t sound right coming from another artist. Adding to the lore, the production from The Bad Kid was performed on what some might consider simple equipment.
The bulk of the beats were made on a Boss Dr. Sample Sp-303 sampler, a tape deck, and a portable turntable with records discovered in Brazil and other travels. The mixing and mastering were overseen by Dave Cooley, who previously worked on records with J Dilla, Adrian Younge, and remastering projects from the late Isaac Hayes and more.
Check out Madvillainy below along with Madlib’s tribute to DOOM.

It’s been a few years since Will Smith alienated a chunk of his fanbase when he slapped fire out of Chris Rock during the Oscar Awards in 2022. But are those the same fans willing to let bygones be bygones and support him at the box office?

We shall find out as Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will once again reconnect to bring a brand new installment to the hugely popular Bad Boys franchise which dropped it’s first trailer for the film just this Tuesday (March 26). In the new upcoming Bad Boys: Ride or Die, we find Detectives Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) on the run from the law as they’re being framed by some powerful people who made sure their Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano) died a “dirty” cop.

With authorities on their tail and a powerful cartel in their way, Lowrey and Burnett go on a mission to not only clear their names but also that of their dearly departed captain. Looking like they’re in the latest sequel to the Fast & Furious saga, the two men find themselves duking it out with bad guys everywhere from a military transport helicopter to the streets of Miami. And of course we get a shot of Will Smith running through highway traffic in a tank top with a gun in his hand. That must be in his contract for these movies.
Check out the trailer for Bad Boys: Ride or Die and let us know if you’ll be checking for this when it hits theaters on June 7th in the comments section below.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Md. collapsed early Tuesday morning (March 26) after a cargo ship hit a support column. Several videos of the collapse made their way onto social media channels and rescuers were reportedly searching for nearly two dozen survivors.
Local outlet The Baltimore Sun reports that a container ship traveling in the area struck one of the Francis Scott Key Bridge’s support columns which snapped the bridge in pieces and plunged around seven cars into the Patapsco River. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency.

The ship, known as Dali, struck the bridge around 1:20 AM local time and a search and rescue operation went underway immediately. Authorities say they were looking for at least seven missing individuals.
While a cause for the accident has yet to be determined or confirmed, U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin told the outlet that the cargo ship may have lost power thus cutting off its steering capabilities.
“What’s been indicated is the vessel lost power, and when you lose power you lose steering,” Sen. Cardin said. “But they’re doing a full investigation.”
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is slated to investigate the accident according to U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, who also echoed Sen. Cardin’s suggestion that the ship lost power.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott spoke at a news conference regarding the tragedy, saying, “This is a tragedy that you could never imagine…It looked like something out of an action movie.”
Traffic in the region has been rerouted and the outlet adds that the 1.6-mile steel bridge is a main portion of Interstate 695 and one of Baltimore’s three toll crossings. The bridge carried over 12.4 million commercial and passenger vehicles last year signaling that it is a major thoroughfare.
As updates come in, we will update this report.

Over the weekend the Hip-Hop world was so preoccupied with talk of Kendrick Lamar’s darts at Drake and J. Cole that they basically overlooked the fact that Big Sean dropped off some new work and continued to make the case that his name should be mentioned when talking about “the big three” before him.

In his latest visuals to “Precision,” Big Sean hops out of a cryogenic chamber of sorts and getting himself some tailormade attire to style and profile in but not before showing off his chiseled physique which is sure to drive his female fanbase crazy. Ariana Grande somewhere probably rethinking their breakup now. Just sayin.’

Fabolous meanwhile keeps on dropping off new work himself and for his latest clip to “Paradise,” the Brooklyn OG hits up the studio to lay down his verses before taking to the friendly skies to continue his international tour and showing the world how we do in the most thorough of boroughs.
