Vice president kamala harris

Vice President Kamala Harris was not victorious in her quest to become the first woman elected to the office of the President of the United States but was gracious in defeat. Speaking at her alma mater Howard University this week, Kamala Harris conceded the race to Donald Trump but vowed to keep the energy of her campaign going.
On Wednesday (November 6), Vice President Kamala Harris spoke at Howard University and shared that she is hoping to work with Donald Trump toward a peaceful transfer of power despite the testy nature of both campaigns.
From the speech:
A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results. That principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny. And anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it. At the same time, in our nation, we owe loyalty not to a president or a party, but to the Constitution of the United States, and loyalty to our conscience and to our God. My allegiance to all three is why I am here to say, while I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign—the fight: the fight for freedom, for opportunity, for fairness, and the dignity of all people. A fight for the ideals at the heart of our nation, the ideals that reflect America at our best. That is a fight I will never give up.

Azealia Banks isn’t exactly the go-to person for all things political, but it appears she is endorsing a candidate in the presidential race all the same. In a lengthy post on X, Azealia Banks openly insults and then endorses Vice President Kamala Harris which sparked some replies on the social media platform.
Taking to the X platform on Monday (November 4), Azealia Banks unveiled her thoughts about the upcoming election, beginning with some sharp opinions regarding Kamala Harris.
From X:
So I’m thinking about this……. for as stupid and incoherent Kamala Harris is and as trash as Walz is, and despite the fact that Kamala Harris is the only Democratic Nominee to not have actively campainged in a Primary (the most undemocratic sh*t ever, and really says alot about her supporters lack of commonsense)… I really think keeping Elon Musk away from any type of political power in the USA is tantamount to any issue on the table here. You have to be a complete idiot to think that dirtbag cares about anyone or anything other than himself. He’s already been given way too much tax payer money – Allowing him to ascend to any position of political authority is very f*cking dangerous. One does not become the richest man in the world because of honesty and good character lol, you must be an expert liar, thief and cheater to become that. That man kidnaps his children, took photos of grimes getting sliced open during her c-section and sent them around, does a sh*tton of grimy fucked up shit to tesla factory workers, stole PayPal, Weasled his way into tesla and has too many passports for my liking.
After Banks concluded her verbal assault on Musk, she turned her attention toward Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and mentioned Donald Trump’s constant jabs at China, stating that he shouldn’t want to make an enemy of the superpower nation. She also had a few words regarding debunked rumors that the Democratic National Committee flew in migrants to help tip the polls in Harris’ favor and continued to center China’s role in taming Russia, especially with much of the major military powers having access to nuclear weapons.
Banks concluded her rant with, “I will be Voting For Kamala Harris tomorrow because Elon Musk (a f*cking overrated Ketamine addict) belongs no where near American Politics. The End.”
The endorsement was surprising for some after Banks pledged support for Donald Trump and attended a rally for the former president over the summer. The Harlem artist has been especially critical of Harris and the campaign for most of the year as well.
On X, reactions to Azealia Banks endorsement are present and we’ve captured some of them below.
So I’m thinking about this……. for as stupid and incoherent Kamala Harris is and as trash as Walz is, and despite the fact that Kamala Harris is the only Democratic Nominee to not have actively campainged in a Primary (the most undemocratic shit ever, and really says alot…

Election Day is new on the horizon and there are still millions of ballots slated to be cast to elect not only the next President of the United States but other key races. Hip-Hop Wired will attempt to bring Election Day into greater view and share what we’ve learned in the time leading up to the big day.
Tuesday is Election Day and polls will open bright and early across the United States until the later part of the evening. Naturally, much of the focus has been on the top of the ticket, with Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump squaring off for the Democratic Party and Republican Party respectively. Below, we’ll do our best to capture what the polls and election experts are saying as time narrows down.
The Polls Are Largely Tied With Some Exceptions
Source: Michael M. Santiago / Getty
Polls are but a sample size of actual voters but the data within is just as heavily scrutinized as comments made by candidates on the campaign trail. New national poll numbers have shown that the race is still virtually tied but there are slight variables that deserve a mention.
The most recent ABC News/Ipsos poll reveals that Harris holds a 49-46% edge over Trump and according to this report, this is been a constant result from this particular poll. The economy, border security, and rising costs are at the top of list for those who were polled. The poll also shows that independent voters are in favor of Harris at 49-44% over Trump. Harris also is enjoying the support of Black men at a rate of 76% and 87% for Black women in the ABC News/Ipsos poll.
NBC News released its final poll numbers on Sunday (November 2) and the results show a deadlocked 49-49% for both candidates, with the poll indicating rallying numbers for Harris around her stance on abortion and her campaign’s plan for the middle class. For Trump, poll results show that voters are worried about the direction of the country and the state of the economy. Harris is largely keeping things close with her large 87-9% lead among Black voters and voters under 30, who support the vice president 57 to 41% over Trump.
A shocking turn of events was the results of the Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll. Iowa, a state most assumed would fall to Trump, suddenly showed via its poll that Harris is leading there at a rate of 47% to 44% among likely voters. However, Trump still holds a massive edge among independent men but Harris still holds sway over women voters in Iowa.
Today (November 4), Emerson College Polling/The Hill released its final numbers which showed that seven critical swing states will come down to the final minute before polls close before the race for either candidate can be properly called. Michigan numbers show that Harris enjoys a two-point edge over Trump with 50% to 48%. In Nevada, the candidates are tied at 48% among likely voters, and 49% in Wisconsin. In this poll, Trump is up by one point in Georgia at 49% to 48%, which is a state he lost in 2020. Trump also enjoys one-point leads in North Carolina and Pennsylvania at 49% to 48% for both states. In Arizona, Trump enjoys a 50% to 48% lead there.
Other Races To Watch

The race for the Maryland seat in the U.S. Senate between Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and former Gov. Larry Hogan might not have a lot of drama as we near Election Day. Alsobrooks, a Democrat, is highly favored in almost all polls in the blue state. Hogan, a Republican, ran a campaign that distanced him from Donald Trump but it appears thus far that won’t be enough to get the votes to earn the seat. If she wins, Alsobrooks will become Maryland’s first Black U.S. Senator.
In Washington, Democratic Party D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr. (Ward 8) is running for a third term against Republican Nate Derenge. This is an interesting race given that White is facing federal bribery charges. However, White has the advantage of being the incumbent in a blue-leaning city and could see an easy path to victory.
The U.S. Senate is currently controlled by Democrats, with just a handful of independents voting alongside them. But it appears that by most measures, even if Alsobrooks gains her seat, Montana’s Sen. Jon Tester, a Democrat, isn’t projected to win against Republican Tim Sheehy. Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat race is too close to call with Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Republican Bernie Moreno virtually tied.
Republicans maintain a slight majority of the House with 220 seats to the Democrats 212 and several races across the nation are projecting big gains for the GOP. Considering the shape of state and local races, a Trump victory could see the former president returning to a White House with full party control of Congress and can exact many of the wide-ranging policies he’s mentioned on the campaign trail.
What Happens Now

An expected “Hail Mary” of campaign ads have been the order of business for both presidential candidates and the same can be said of state and local races that we’ve observed in the mid-Atlantic. With some reported issues of ballot box tampering, voters being turned away, and general apathy among the undecided, if this race is even remotely close, it’s possible that the final findings could drag on for months.
In a race that often placed personality and personal grievances ahead of policy, everything is now in the power of voters to determine who they want to lead this country for the next four years, and how laws will be passed and measured in their respective neighborhoods. Early voting turnout numbers have been massive and the polls will be packed with lines all day Tuesday.
Hip-Hop Wired will be monitoring all the happenings this week.

Last Week Tonight With John Oliver concluded its Sunday (November 3) broadcast by reminding viewers that it was the show’s final episode ahead of Election Day this coming Tuesday. In an impassioned and tearful plea, John Oliver urged the public to get out and vote for Vice President Kamala Harris citing the presidential hopeful’s policy plans.
John Oliver, who has been vocally critical of Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance, began his closing monologue Last Week Tonight mentioning how the race is currently too close to call despite the recent Madison Square Garden rally where racist comments and jokes were delivered along with gaffes made by Trump while on the campaign trail.
While much of the monologue was a takedown of the Trump-Vance campaign from a comical angle, Oliver did illustrate how a Trump-Vance administration would put into power individuals such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who would oversee health policies according to Trump despite his controversial takes.
Oliver was clear in noting that the race is close as it is due to Harris herself and the connections to President Joe Biden, the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine, and the culture wars here in the States. However, the host said that despite this, he is casting a vote for Kamala Harris in hopes that if she wins, the next four years can bring about effective change.
Check out the monologue from John Oliver below.

Donald Trump is having quite an interesting week with the election just mere days away. During a media event, Donald Trump suggested that Republican politician Liz Cheney face enemy gunfire, prompting the former congresswoman to refer to Trump as unstable.
Donald Trump was in Glendale, Ariz. on Thursday (October 31) for a talk with Tucker Carlson, and the former president covered a wide range of topics while taking shots at his critics. During the chat with the conservative pundit, Trump made a violent suggestion regarding Cheney after discussing her position on war.
“She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with the rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. OK, let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face,” Trump said.
Continuing his salvo against Cheney, Trump suggested that Cheney and other politicians in Washington are far too comfortable in engaging in war tactics from the halls of Congress and would inspire battles with dozens of other countries.
“You know they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, oh gee, well, let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy,” Trump added.
Cheney caught wind of Trump’s comments and took to social media to address the verbal jab.
“This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant,” Cheney wrote on X in a caption with the chat in question shared in a video from Aaron Rupar.
Trump’s ire towards Cheney, the daughter of former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney, was further stoked after she publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
On X, formerly Twitter, we’ve gathered reactions to Donald Trump and his violent barbs toward Liz Cheney.

The list of Puerto Rican celebrities supporting Kamala Harris’ presidential run is growing, with Don Omar joining in, delighting fans online.
Superstar artist Don Omar has added his voice to those celebrities with Puerto Rican heritage supporting Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. In a lengthy post issued through social media in Spanish and English, Don Omar wrote: “Puerto Rico is my land and my identity, and today more than ever I raise the flag of my island with pride. It is heartbreaking to hear the contempt and racist words directed towards my country and Latinos. Trump has made it clear, time and time again, what he thinks of us, and the possibility of him and his administration returning to power is really worrying,” adding his support of Harris and ending with the line: “It’s time to turn the page. We are not going back.”
The “King of Reggaeton” is the latest to endorse Vice President Harris in a response to shock comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s remarks while appearing at the campaign rally for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in Madison Square Garden this past Sunday (October 27) in New York City. Don Omar’s total social media following numbers over 50 million users.
After Hinchcliffe’s joke calling Puerto Rico “a floating island of garbage” went viral, superstar Bad Bunny shared a clip of Harris blasting Trump for his treatment of Puerto Rico during Hurricane Maria, saying: “I will never forget what Donald Trump did and what he did not do when Puerto Rico needed a caring and a competent leader. He abandoned the island, tried to block aid after back-to-back devastating hurricanes, and offered nothing more than paper towels and insults.” He’d go on to share an eight-minute video celebrating his hometown while further attacking Donald Trump on Tuesday (October 29).
Other Puerto Rican celebrities who’ve put their star power behind Vice President Harris in response to Hinchcliffe’s remarks include Jennifer Lopez, John Leguizamo, The View’s Sunny Hostin, Daddy Yankee (who has previously supported Republicans in the past), and Marc Anthony, who posted a video on X, formerly Twitter, decrying Trump’s behavior. The combined star power is huge as the presidential election is in its final days, and many online are noting how much Trump’s vitriol against Latinos overall might just hurt his chances with high emotion, as one user remarked on Anthony’s post, “This ad literally brought tears to my eyes!”

The Washington Post has become the latest so-called progressive publication to feel the wrath of the fall-out following its decision not to endorse a presidential candidate in this uncomfortably tight race between Vice President Kamala Harris and the orangey-white nationalist who has normalized slinging lies and bigotry from the political stage.
According to anonymous courses cited in an NPR report, more than 200,000 people canceled their subscriptions to the Post after the publication announced it is “returning to its roots” by staying neutral in the race to the White House and declining to endorse Harris or Donald Trump.

— Florida Chris (@chrislongview) October 28, 2024
It’s not terribly surprising that the Post is basically hemorrhaging subscribers, considering folks on social media put out the call to send a message to the Post and its owner, Jeff Bezos, that its readers won’t stick around if it won’t make an endorsement in an election this crucial.
BREAKING: Jeff Bezos is forcing the Washington Post NOT to endorse Kamala Harris for President — just in case trump wins the election.

From Variety:
On Friday, Washington Post CEO and publisher William Lewis wrote in an article on the paper’s website, “The Washington Post will not be making an endorsement of a presidential candidate in this election. Nor in any future presidential election. We are returning to our roots of not endorsing presidential candidates.” The Post has endorsed a candidate in every presidential election since 1976, with the exception of 1988. Lewis, who joined the post in November 2023, was formerly CEO of Dow Jones & Co. and publisher of the Wall Street Journal.
As first reported by NPR, Bezos — who bought the Washington Post in 2013 — had recently decided that the newspaper would not endorse either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump in the 2024 election. The paper’s editorial board had already drafted an endorsement of Harris. Some observers (and, evidently, thousands of subscribers) interpreted the move as an attempt by Bezos to avoid getting targeted for attacks by Trump.
The fallout for the Post comes just a few days after the Los Angeles Times lost its editorial chief, who resigned over the publication’s relatively new owner, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, ordered the Times’ editorial board not to endorse Harris after endorsing a Democratic president in every election since 2008. Journalist Mariel Garza said in her resignation letter that it mattered that the largest newspaper in California declined to endorse “in a race this important,” and that “it matters that we won’t even be straight with people about it.”
“It makes us look craven and hypocritical, maybe even a bit sexist and racist,” Garza wrote. “How could we spend eight years railing against Trump and the danger his leadership poses to the country, and then fail to endorse the perfectly decent Democrat challenger — who we previously endorsed for the U.S. Senate?”
Yeah — this is the wrong time for major news outlets to choose silence in the name of pseudo-neutrality and objectivity. The choice between a non-fascist woman who will have worked in all three branches of government if elected and the guy from The Apprentice who spouts non-stop hate speech and propaganda is clear. The Post and the Times needed to do the right thing.

Michelle Obama, the former First Lady of the United States, knows a bit about how media will dissect a political figure’s every move and she used that firsthand knowledge to great effect. During a rally in support of Vice President Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama took shots at Harris’ opponent Donald Trump, and slammed the media’s nitpicking of the Democratic Party hopeful’s interviews in comparison to the former president.
Michelle Obama was in Kalamazoo, Mich. over the weekend at a rally for Harris and she was very clear in calling out Trump for what she framed as “gross incompetence” while Harris is expected to “dazzle” each time she’s made media appearances and during interviews.
From the speech:
So I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m a little frustrated that some of us are choosing to ignore Donald Trump’s gross incompetence while asking Kamala to dazzle us at every turn. I hope that you’ll forgive me if I’m a little angry that we are indifferent to his erratic behavior, his obvious mental decline, his history as a convicted felon, a known slumlord, a predator found liable for sexual abuse, all of this, while we pick apart Kamala’s answers from interviews that he doesn’t even have the courage to do, y’all.
To Obama’s point, Trump has elected to duck certain media appearances and debates in favor of rallies, such as the racially charged event in New York over the weekend that featured a parade of speakers spewing racist rhetoric against Puerto Ricans and Black Americans.
Harris has been under harsher lights and every gaffe is highlighted and magnified to a degree we haven’t truly seen with Trump’s campaign. No matter which side of the political aisle one stands, the difference in coverage is stark.

Trump rallies have hit yet another low with some disgusting remarks made against Puerto Rico. In turn Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin and others have endorsed Kamala Harris.
As spotted on Variety Magazine the recent Donald Trump rally in New York City spewed various vulgar racist insults and wild untruths throughout the six-hour long event. Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe opened up the festivities with jokes aimed at several communities including Mexicans, Jews and more. His hack routine included some disparaging and very alarming lines aimed at Puerto Rico. “There’s a lot going on. I don’t know if you know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico” he said. The vulgar remarks were met with very little laughter prompting the crowd to sit through another awkward moment.

— Kamala HQ (@KamalaHQ) October 27, 2024
Naturally his vile commentary soon went viral and was deemed by hate speech by Latinos and others alike. Immediately after Bad Bunny took to Instagram and shared a reel from Kamala Harris reminding us all that Donald Trump not only blocked aid to the island after Hurricane Maria but disparaged Puerto Ricans via crass insults. Jennifer Lopez also shared the same clip to her Instagram Story and also posted Madame Vice President’s proposed economic plan for the PR. Singer Ricky Martin also endorsed Harris via his social media saying he also “remembers” how Trump failed to have compassion for Puerto Ricans after facing the deadliest and costliest hurricane to strike the island.
Latino politicians also voiced their displeasure. New York congressman Ritchie Torres also to X, formerly Twitter to call out the struggle podcaster. “As a Puerto Rican, I am tempted to call Hinchcliffe racist garbage but doing so would be an insult to garbage. When casting their ballots at the voting booth, Latinos should never forget the racism that Donald Trump seems all too willing to platform.”
While citizens of Puerto Rico can’t vote, Puerto Ricans have heavy concentration in several swing states including North Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan. You can find out where you can vote early here.
