Drakeās legal filings against Kendrick Lamar and UMG have earned him some wrath from Uncle Luke, with the Hip-Hop icon calling him soft.
Drakeās latest move in his ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar ā filing legal petitions against the Compton rapper and Universal Music Group ā has rubbed many in Hip-Hop and pop culture the wrong way. Count Luther āUncle Lukeā Campbell among them, evidenced in a social media post the Hip-Hop veteran shared over the past weekend.
āI like Drakeās music, I donāt like what he got going on right now but I like his music,ā Luke began. āSome things you donāt talk about. You donāt talk about payola, you donāt talk about buying livestreams and you donāt sue after you got dissed, and you done did some dissing.ā Heād go on to proclaim that it was a hallmark of this generation. āThatās yāall young people. yāall young people live in a soft society. Thatās why Iām glad Iām an OG. All yāall young people soft. Soft, soft, soft. You got rappers that wanna diss somebody, then wanna go get the gun. Why not go and fight?ā
The 2 Live Crew founder would go on to share differences between his generation and this one, citing his past beef with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. āOne thing thatās off limits, the kids are off limits, girlfriends are off limits, mamas are off limits,ā Luke said. His views were mostly met with approval in the comments, with one user writing: āCanāt tell people they wrong anymore without they feelings getting hurtā¦I just leave everything alone.ā
Drakeās pre-action petition claims that Universal Music Group and Spotify were responsible for inflating the streaming numbers for āNot Like Usā using bots on social media and other means. The Certified Lover Boy artist filed the documents shortly after Kendrick Lamarās latest album, GNX, was released. The move has earned him heavy criticism from others including Joe Budden, who called him a āpiece of sātā on his latest podcast episode, citing the Canadian rapperās negative actions in the past fueling this karmic retribution.
UMGās response to the filing was swift, stating: āThe suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue. We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns. No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear.ā

Uncle Luke feels like the ladies burning up the Hip-Hop charts owe him money because of his Supreme Court victory.
For those who donāt know, Luther Campbell, aka Uncle Luke of 2 Live Crew fame, took the fight to create raunchy rap music to the Supreme Court in the 90s, and he won.
Now, Campbell feels all the ladies in Hip-Hop currently churning out hits owe him some money because he feels itās because of him that they can rap about suggestive themes and do the things they like to do on stage.
On Monday, Campbell hopped on Instagram Live to give a backhanded compliment to the ladies of Hip-Hop by pointing out they are running the genre while the men are slacking. At the same time, he demanded rappers likeĀ Megan Thee Stallion, Ice Spice,Ā and Sexxy Red send him money.
āMale rap is on some bulls**t right now,ā Campbell said during the Instagram Live. āIām sorry. The females are winning. Theyāre doing everything that I did. Iām still waiting for these girls to send me a f**king check.ā
āI need a check from Ice Spice, who turns her a** around and drops it like itās hot,ā Uncle Luke said. āI need a check from Sexyy Red ā nah, Red [is] my friend⦠All the f**king girls, Megan Thee Stallion. Anybody thatās running around shaking their a**es, talking about p**sy and d**k on the record, yāall need to send me a check.ā
He followed that up by saying they donāt need to give money, but they do have to pay him his respect, adding that Sexxy Red already gave him his props. āThe girls donāt need to give me a check. They need to pay respect. The only one who has is sexy Red. Thatās my girl,ā he wrote on X.
Users On X Disagree With Uncle Luke
None of the women he has mentioned have responded to him, and understandably so because they are quite busy. Each of them is coming off or currently on a tour and promoting new music.
Fans are stepping up to the plate for them, calling out Uncle Luke for his comments.
āHe wants yāall to forget he was on here takin shots at Janelle Monae for showing a nipple. Itās like he loses sleep when he sees BW owning their sexual agency,ā one person X, formerly Twitter, wrote.
We canāt argue with that.

The city of Miami Beach is actively prohibiting spring break visitors in a new campaign, with some feeling itās discriminatory to Black people..
On Friday (March 1), the City of Miami Beach released a television commercial showcasing its new āSpring Breakupā campaign, which is designed to compel tourists planning to visit the city in March from engaging in violent and disruptive actions. The campaign was first announced in February at a press conference where details on the program were first released.

āThe measures I proposed approved by our Commission will ensure that our residents, businesses, and visitors are safe and thrive during Spring Break,ā said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. āIf you are looking to cause problems, do not come to Miami Beach,ā added Chief Wayne Jones. āWe are fully prepared to ensure our city is safe for everyone. Our message is simple: we want people to enjoy their time here, but will not tolerate the behavior we have witnessed in the past few years.ā The new rules include a flat fee of $30 for parking garages and surface lots in South Beach, and limited access to the beach begins at 6 p.m. with law enforcement conducting bag checks. In addition, police will employ license plate readers on certain streets and parking garages will be closed on high-impact weekends from Thursday to Saturday with towing rates set at $516.
The campaign for the popular 10-block stretch comes after several high-profile incidents have taken place there in recent years including back-to-back shootings that left two dead amid 573 arrests made in the area last year. While the campaign is welcomed by some who have been upset over the violent incidents, some business owners have expressed concern that it could hurt them. āThis is devastating to businesses,ā says Mangoās Tropical Cafe owner David Wallack. āItās been devastating every year that [spring break] has been going on. This is even more devastating. Itās preparing for a war.ā
Itās also gotten heavy brushback from those who say the rules explicitly target Black tourists, whoāve increasingly visited Miami Beach. They point to a state of emergency enacted in 2021 after shootings occurred. āThe only emergency in Miami Beach is that there were Black people there,ā said Miami-Dadeās Black Affairs Advisory Board member Stephen Hunter Johnson. Hip-Hop icon and 2 Live Crew member Luther āUncle Lukeā Campbell echoed those sentiments in a post on X, formerly Twitter, calling it racism.
