Wendy Williams is seeking new legal counsel. She has reportedly fired her lawyer as she continues her fight to be released from guardianship.
Page Six is reporting that the former media personality has made a change with regard to her representation. This week she formally cut ties her court appointed attorney Linda Redlisky. Sources who claim to be close to the matter tell TMZ that Wendy let Redlisky go because she failed to file the proper paperwork asking release from guardianship. Williams apparently wanted a court trial to decide whether or not she needs someone to make decisions on her behalf but Redlisky denied her request.
Earlier this month her family made it clear they are trying their best to restore order in her life. “The family of Wendy Williams wishes to address the current circumstances surrounding her guardianship and her ongoing journey toward reclaiming her self-determination,” the family said in a statement, per Daily Mail. “As we navigate this challenging time, we believe it is crucial to advocate for Wendy’s rights and autonomy.”
They would go on thank her fans for their continued support as they figure out a resolution. “We are hoping that — through the legal system — we can shed light on this situation and work toward a resolution that honors Wendy’s voice and wishes. We ask for privacy and understanding as we navigate this complex process, and we thank Wendy’s fans and supporters for their unwavering love and encouragement during this time to “#FREEWENDY.”
Earlier this month Wendy Williams called into The Breakfast Club and revealed that she is totally capable of being self sufficient and that she feels like she is trapped. “My life is f***ed up,” she explained. “I feel like I’m in prison. I’m definitely isolated. I keep the door closed, I watch TV, listen to the radio and look out the window. Sit here as my life goes by.”

Rapper YFN Lucci is reportedly set to be released from prison tomorrow, Friday, January 31st, after spending nearly four years behind bars. Lucci has been incarcerated since 2021, fighting serious RICO charges related to alleged gang involvement. His case has kept fans and the hip-hop community on edge, with his legal battle being one of the many high-profile cases surrounding Atlanta rap in recent years.
Lucci’s release comes at a time when there has been growing attention on redemption stories in hip-hop, particularly in the wake of Young Thug’s recent release from prison. Thug, who faced similar legal battles, has been making strides toward a more positive future since being freed earlier this year. His story of overcoming adversity has inspired many, and now fans are hoping YFN Lucci will take a similar path. Despite a long-standing feud between the two rappers, which seemed to have cooled off in recent years, the hope is that Lucci, like Thug, can focus on his music and personal growth moving forward
As Lucci steps back into the world, fans are eager to see what his next move will be. Will he use his time behind bars as fuel for his comeback? Only time will tell, but many are optimistic that this could mark the beginning of a new chapter in his career—one focused on redemption, growth, and fresh music. Fans are already anticipating his next steps, hoping he’ll rise from this challenge and return stronger than ever.

Some kids are living life fast, figuratively and literally. A group of teenagers decided to take a New York City train for a spin and shared their joyride on social media.
It seems Mayor Eric Adams needs to reconsider how the city’s public transportation is being guarded during off hours. As spotted on Newsweek, a group of youths took advantage of a security lapse on Saturday evening and stole an empty “R” train at the Forest Hills-71st Avenue station in Queens around 10:20 p.m. MTA officials told local police that the group drove the train “a short distance” and broke several windows in the process. It is believed they gained entrance with a set of staff keys.
The unidentified youngsters filmed the act and shared it to Instagram. “Cover your faces,” one of the voices said in the video. Another chimes in saying, “Cover your face, b***h.” The footage shows the kids driving the vehicle within the subway tunnels. Luckily, security cameras captured the crew entering the train prior to their joyride.
“They obviously knew something about both where the train was and how to operate a train, and how to get the keys,” transportation expert Robert Paaswell told CBS News. “Once you start it, it’s just a throttle, and you use the throttle to move it and to slow it down.” The suspects have yet to be apprehended. An MTA official tells CBS “New York City Transit is working with the NYPD on their investigation of this incident.”

According to KTVU, Wayne Shaw, the 61-year-old older brother of rap legend Too Short, tragically was shot and killed. Shaw reportedly lost his life during a botched robbery at a marijuana grow operation in East Oakland. Shaw was shot and killed around 7 a.m. on the 1200 block of 49th Avenue, near East 12th Street, while reportedly sleeping at the warehouse. Authorities believe the incident was an attempted robbery, with Shaw tragically caught in the crossfire while trying to protect the operation.
Police are still investigating the details surrounding the shooting, but early reports suggest that the suspects targeted the grow house with the intention of stealing marijuana or other valuable goods. Shaw’s decision to stand his ground and protect the operation ultimately led to his fatal encounter with the assailants.
As the older brother of Too Short, one of hip-hop’s most iconic figures, Wayne Shaw’s death has added another layer of heartbreak to an already tragic situation. Too Short, known for his contributions to West Coast rap, has yet to publicly comment on the loss of his brother, but the tragedy has left a lasting impact on both the local Oakland community and the hip-hop world at large. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are seeking justice for Shaw and his family.

South Carolina DJ found herself in hot water after playing a song by the late rapper Camoflauge, the father of LSU star Flau’jae Johnson, during a recent game.
I’ll take my L on the chin, but this just nasty behavior. Nun funny bout that pic.twitter.com/BKYGgGvfGo
— Flaujae (@Flaujae) January 26, 2025

The move was seen as highly insensitive because Flau’jae’s father was tragically killed in a shooting back in 2003. When news of the incident spread, Flau’jae took to social media to express her disgust, saying, “I’ll take my L on the chin, but this just nasty behavior. Nun funny bout that.” Her response highlighted how painful and disrespectful the situation was, considering the personal trauma tied to the song.
DJ T.O. quickly took to Twitter to apologize for the mistake, explaining that she never intended to disrespect anyone. She clarified, “I apologize for playing Cut Friends Instrumental at the game yesterday. It is never my intent to disrespect anyone or offend anyone when my job is to have fun and make sure other people have a good time.”She also explained that the song, which is a staple from her home region of the Lowcountry/C-Port area, had been part of her DJ sets for years, even at other events. She stressed that she’s always played it with good intentions, as she grew up on Camoflauge’s music and had no idea how it would be received in that particular setting.
Despite her explanation, the incident left a bitter taste for many, especially Flau’jae, who understandably felt the song choice was in poor taste. DJ T.O.’s apology did little to ease the tension, leaving fans to question the boundaries between local culture and sensitive moments in public spaces.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is sick and has a limited public schedule, but details on what is ailing him have not been publicized.
Late Sunday evening (January 26), a spokesperson for New York City Mayor Adams informed the press that he was sick and was set to undergo a series of appointments with doctors and routine medical tests. “While Mayor Adams will continue to communicate constantly with staff and ensure city business continues undeterred, during this time, the mayor will have a limited public schedule,” Deputy Mayor for Communications Fabien Levy said in the statement, adding that he “has a right to privacy when it comes to personal matters, but we will continue to communicate in the unlikely event he is unable to fully discharge his duties on any particular day.”
Levy didn’t offer any details on what Adams is ailing from but said that he is “doing well” and that he is continuing to conduct phone calls related to the city’s business. His public schedule on Monday (January 27) only showed a meeting with senior administration officials at the beginning of the day, and his office has canceled his usual Tuesday off-topic Q&A session with the media. Adams has also waived his scheduled appearance in court on Wednesday (January 29) on federal corruption charges. The hearing concerned classified evidence in the case.
The 64-year-old has often touted his energy and health, attributing it to becoming a pescatarian in 2016 after being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. “No one is going to outwork me,” he said to a press gaggle earlier in January. “I am so committed authentically to New Yorkers.” Under city rules, if Adams is indisposed further, First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer would step in as “acting mayor.” If needed, Public Advocate Juumane Williams would take over as mayor with limited authority.
The news comes as Adams has been under intense scrutiny for attending the inauguration of President Donald Trump at the last minute, and sitting down with conservative reporters such as Tucker Carlson. The moves are seen as a way to curry favor with Trump to gain a federal pardon. Adams is set to undergo trial in April, a short time before the Democratic primary elections for mayor are set to begin.
