Tragic news is coming out of Colombia as well-known Reggaeton artist/manager Dr. Velásquez, was found murdered in his home earlier this week.
According to Digital Music News, Velásquez and his girlfriend, Sofia Valdez, were found shot to death in his home in Envigado, outside of Medellín, Colombia, this past Saturday (June 8). The sad news was announced by Velásquez’s record label, JMW Music, which put out a statement on social media informing his fans of the tragic news.
“With deep pain, we inform you of the death of Dr. Velásquez, renowned singer, composer, manager, businessman, and paisa [Medellín native] dreamer,” reads the statement written in Spanish. “Dr. Velásquez was a pioneer in the Medellín music scene, being the founder of the largest and first reggaeton hubs in our city. His legacy and passion for music left an indelible mark on the industry and in the hearts of those who knew him.”
“In this moment of pain, we ask for prudence and respect for his family, friends, and colleagues. We appreciate your understanding and support in these difficult times. We join in prayer for his eternal rest and solidarity with all those who feel his departure.”
While the motive behind Velásquez‘s murder is still unknown, authorities already have a person of interest in cuffs.
Digital Music News reports:
The label clarified in a separate statement that although the facts surrounding his death are being investigated, “the judicial authorities have ruled out suicide among the hypotheses. Thanks to the quick and efficient action of the authorities, the main suspect in the double homicide is already in custody.”
Velásquez, whose real name was Daniel Alejandro Velásquez Franco, enjoyed a solo singing career from 2014 to 2018, but he is better known for having propelled the music careers of many Colombian urban artists, including Reykon, Maluma, and J Balvin. He discovered Blessd in 2019 and signed him to his home label of JMW Music.
Some of the artists Dr. Velásquez has worked with include J Balvin, Blessd and Maluma, among many others.
Rest In Power, Dr. Velásquez.

The way Snoop Dogg has been reuniting former Death Row artists after taking control of the label that made him a star makes us feel like Tha Doggfather has been planning this for quite some time and he’s been on his grizzly dropping off new work courtesy of many OG’s.
In the new visuals to “Who Da Hardest?” Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound once again ride with the likes of Lady of Rage and RBX to kick that ol’ gangsta ish to remind everyone that while rap is a young man’s game, Hip-Hop itself will forever be for artists of all ages. Dope to see Lady of Rage’s afro puff’s still poppin.’
Speaking of OG’s, Boosie Badazz is still living like a young man at his big age and in his clip for “Summer Time,” the Baton Rouge representative enjoys some pool side fun with some extra thick women who come in all colors but have the similar physical dimensions from the waist down. Boosie do like them big girls and we ain’t hatin.’

Howard University announced that it is rescinding the honorary degree it bestowed on Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2014. The decision comes after video footage was revealed in May of the disgraced Hip-Hop mogul beating his ex-girlfriend and Bad Boy recording artist Cassie Ventura in a hotel lobby in 2016.
On Friday, June 7, the Howard University Board of Trustees announced that it decided to rescind Combs’ honorary degree and to return the $1 million the former student (he never actually graduated) had pledged to the school.
“The Howard University Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to accept the return by Mr. Sean Combs of the honorary degree conferred upon him in 2014,” said an official statement from Howard’s Board of Trustees. “This acceptance revokes all honors and privileges associated with the degree.”
Also, HU is effectively wiping any association with Diddy, who attended the HBCU in the early nineties before dropping out to pursue his career in the music business full time.
The statement continued, “Accordingly, the Board has directed that his name be removed from all documents listing honorary degree recipients of Howard University. Mr. Combs’ behavior as captured in a recently released video is so fundamentally incompatible with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the institution’s highest honor.”
Interestingly, although Diddy originally pledged the $1 million donation in 2016, the Board’s statement reveals that no payments had been made by him or the Sean Combs Foundation to date. So there is no money to return (under a 2023 agreement). The scholarship program established in Combs’ name will also be disbanded.
Diddy, who has always spoken fondly of his time as an undergrad, was the commencement speaker at Howard in 2014 when he received the honorary degree.
Howard is just the latest entity to sever ties with Diddy. Others include Revolt, the media company he founded, and Hulu, which nixed a reality series about his family.

Sean Kingston will now have to defend his name in a court of law. He has been booked on defrauding over $1 million dollars in goods.
As reported by TMZ, the singer has some serious legal issues to deal with. His South Florida home was raided by police Thursday, May 23, where his mother Janice Turner was arrested. The celebrity gossip website has confirmed Sean Kingston was also arrested in Fort Irwin, California, that same day and made an agreement to be extradited back to Florida. It seems he was a man of his word and was booked at Broward County jail on Sunday, June 2.
According to the Sun Sentinel, his mother and the performer were charged on several charges including four counts of criminal use of personal identification information and three counts of grand theft. For the last couple of years the family name has been tied to multiple allegations of defrauding a jeweler, a car dealership and a luxury television vendor. Additionally, the arrest warrant claims they finessed almost $300,000 dollars from Bank of America and First Republic Bank. His lawyer Bob Rosenblatt tells BBC that both Sean Kingston and his mother plan to plead not guilty.
The man born Kisean Paul Anderson hit it big in 2007 with his single, “Beautiful Girls,” which charted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.

As of late Sean Kingston’s been making more headlines for his fraudulent ways than for the music he puts out. Although he’s still knee deep in legal issues of his own making, the man does have a career to tend to and today he links up with one of the biggest names in the game to remind everyone he does have a lot left in the tank.
In the visuals to “Why Oh Why,” Sean Kingston links up with NBA YoungBoy and uses footage of police raiding his Florida home to show y’all the struggle he’s living in before hitting the supermarket with NBA YB and making their way to the studio to lay down the track. Who would’ve thought of these two men that Sean Kingston was the one with the feds on his ass.
Elsewhere Action Bronson seems ready to get familiar with nature and for his clip to “Nourish A Thug,” the Queens representative takes himself on a camping trip with nothing but some hot dogs, an old school TV and a fishing rod. The man is ready for the end of times.

Regardless of what many people may feel, action figures are still very much popular collectables amongst grown-ass adults. With that in mind, toy manufacturer Super7 is releasing a line of figures featuring one of your favorite Hip-Hop artists from yesteryear.
Source: Super7 / Super7
According to Variety, Super7 is set to add to their already illustrious line of Hip-Hop figures and will now honor the likes of Salt-N-Pepa for their latest Hip-Hop drop. The news comes after the brand had already seen success with the release of previous Hip-Hop figures, which featured the likes of The Notorious B.I.G, OutKast, The RZA, Ghostface Killah and DMX amongst a few others.
Now that Salt-N-Pepa are getting their own figures, don’t be surprised if these collectables pop up in the home of your your middle-aged sugar mama (just sayin’).
Variety reports:
On May 29, San Francisco-based pop culture collectible manufacturer Super7 will release a two-pack of plastic figures molded after Salt-N-Pepa’s looks from the music video for “Push It,” their breakthrough song. Released in 1987, “Push It” immediately eclipsed the A-side track “Tramp,” earning a Grammy nomination after selling almost 1.5 million copies worldwide. The eight-ball jackets the figures wear immediately conjure images of both the video and the cover for the group’s 1988 single “Shake Your Thang,” featuring the same outfits. (Unfortunately, Super7will not be recreating the jackets themselves — at least, not yet.)
As to how Super7 goes about choosing the artists they want to immortalize in miniature plastic form, it’s quite simple as far as the company’s spokesperson explained:
Describing their approach to selecting artists or characters for their product lines, a Super7 spokesperson explained, “We aim to celebrate artists who have significantly influenced the music industry, pop culture, and who have also influenced our own lives. We work in collaboration with the artist or their representatives to decide what era to celebrate, such as an album or music video. The conversation also includes what form factor and stylization would be appropriate for the artist.”

Looks like Sexyy Red might be ready for a career change as the red-headed rapper just made her wrestling debut on WWE’s NXT (seriously).
This past Tuesday night (May 28), the “Pound Town” rapper made her NXT debut and though she didn’t put anyone in a headlock, she did have heads bopping when she walked into the ring while her hit song “Get It Sexyy” blasted out the speakers.
Taking to the ring to unveil the new NXT North American Women’s Championship belt, Red was introduced to the Orlando crowd by The Rock’s daughter, Ava, and took to twerking as soon as she stood in the middle of the ring. After picking up the NXT North American Women’s Championship belt and dancing with it, Sexyy was rudely interrupted by Tatum Paxley who wanted to take the belt for herself.
It was hilarious.
Sexyy Red even put in a little work when she linked up with the tag-team champs, Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans, and played a role in their match to secure their victory.

But that wasn’t it for Sexyy Red as she will be hosting the 2024 NXT Battleground event in Las Vegas June 9. Expect a lot more twerking and booty bouncing in Vegas come that night as that seems to be Sexyy Red’s calling card. Whether or not she’ll actually put hands on a female wrestler remains to be seen, but if Snoop Dogg done did it before, why can’t she?
Check out Sexyy Red’s NXT debut below, and let us know your thoughts on her new venture in the comments section.

For a minute there it seemed like GloRilla was going to be the next big female rap artist when she burst on the scene in “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” and though she hasn’t exactly achieved the level of success many expected from her, she’s still doing her thing and showing she’s still about her business.
Dropping off some new visuals to “High AF,” Glo expresses her love of Mary Jane as she chills at home with a gang of sticky icky on her coffee table before Snoop Dogg makes a quick cameo and welcomes Rilla to the cannabis connoisseur’s club.
Back on the block, Big Hit keeps on dropping that head noddin’ ish for the OG’s and in the clip for “Drug Tzar,” Hit gets to work in the trap house where he chef’s up some work while rocking a bulletproof vest and an iced out chain. First trap house we’ve ever seen that didn’t have any furniture. Not even a couch my G? He must never get tired.

Mike Tyson suffered a health scare while in midair and is now recovering despite having a major boxing event coming in the next few weeks. The former heavyweight world champion suffered an ulcer flare-up and appears to be expected to go forward with his bout with social media star Jake Paul.
As seen on Deadline, Mike Tyson, 57, was on an American Airlines flight from Miami to Los Angeles when the flare-up occurred. As the outlet reports, flight attendants rushed to the boxing legend’s aid and requested the assistance of a doctor on board.
More from Deadline:
“He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing, a rep for Tyron said in a statement to media outlets. “He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him” and is now feeling “great”, the rep added.
Flight attendants reached out to passengers to see if a doctor was on board when Tyson revealed he was in intense pain. Paramedics reportedly boarded the plane when it landed to assist Tyson.
Tyson is set to take on Paul, 27, in Arlington, Texas at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium on July 20. Paul has said in interviews that while he respects Tyson, he isn’t going to pull any punches. Tyson promises that the fight isn’t a money grab and that he intends to bring the fight to Paul.

Seems like someone lit a fire under Vado’s ass as the Harlem rapper has been on his grizzly as of late and for his latest cut the Violence And Drugs Only artist links up with a Buffalo bars-smith to kick that gutter ish that the two are known for dropping.
For his new visuals to “Gotta Wait,” Vado connects with Benny The Butcher at a Chinese takeout spot where they count stacks of cash but don’t seem to place an order at any point. The restaurant workers must’ve felt crazy teased thinking they were about to buy out the kitchen.
Quavo meanwhile doesn’t seem to mind a little smoke and in his clip for “Clear The Smoke” the ATLien uses a smoke machine to fill the room with some carbon while some thick women walk around half-naked for no apparent reason. Yeah, we can’t call that one.
Check out the rest of today’s drops and some joints you might’ve missed over the weekend including work from Vado (we told y’all he was grinding), Juicy J, and more.
