Natasha Rothwell has signed on to star and produce the viral TikTok series âWho TF Did I Marry?â to television, adapting the story originally shared by Tareasa âReesa Teesaâ Johnson earlier this year.
According to an exclusive report by Variety, Rothwell will take on the lead role, portraying Johnson, while also serving as executive producer. After a competitive bidding war, ABC Signature secured the project, adding it to the slate under Rothwellâs Big Hattie Productions, who was previously in an overall deal with the studio.
The original TikTok series, comprised of 50 videos totaling over eight hours, details Johnsonâs tumultuous relationship with her ex-husband, whom she accuses of being a pathological liar. Amassing over 450 million impressions and over 3 million followers in just two weeks, the series captivated social media. Johnson shared shocking stories about her ex, who allegedly claimed to have played football at San Diego State University (despite never attending), asked for funeral money for a stepdaughter who was still alive and had a mismatched social insurance number on their marriage license. Johnson also revealed that he had been unfaithful. While she referred to him as âLegionâ in the videos, TikTok users later identified him as Jerome McCoy, who has since publicly denied her allegations.
Rothwellâs production company, Big Hattie Productions, is leading the project, with Mary Sayama McHenry joining as the Director of Development. McHenry previously worked at CBS TV Studios and most recently at Get Lifted Film Company.
This announcement comes ahead of the September 13 premiere of Rothwellâs Hulu comedy, *How to Die Alone*, which she created and stars in. Additionally, Rothwell will reprise her Emmy-nominated role in Season 3 of HBOâs The White Lotus. She is widely recognized for her work on Insecure, where she played Kelli, along with her stint as a writer for Saturday Night Live from 2014 to 2015.
Johnson, who holds a degree in criminal justice from Kennesaw State University and has studied international law and counterterrorism in The Hague, signed with CAA in March following her viral success.

50 Cent has been one of the biggest names in the rap game for the past 20 years and during that time heâs interacted (and beefed) with everyone you can possibly think of. Recently he opened up about a quick comment from Dame Dash that seems to have left a sour taste in his mouth and in true Fiddy form, he comes off a tad bit petty when reflecting on the moment.
In a recent clip making the rounds on social media, 50 Cent sits down with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo for their Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast and recalled a moment in time following his groundbreaking record deal with Shady Records in 2002 in which he was paid a cool million dollars to sign with Eminem and Dr. Dre. At the time such a signing bonus was unheard of, but being that 50 Cent was the hottest rapper on the free agent market thanks to his G-Unit mixtape series record labels were trying to woo him to their companies, but Eminem and Dr. Dre ended up with the winning bid.
After he signed the deal, 50 Cent clearly remembers that Damon Dash dismissing the amount of money he was paid as basically chicken feed and that seems to be something that bugs 50 to this day. Replying to Wallo about how much he was paid to sign to Shady Records, 50 Cent recalled, âA million dollars⌠and the only person that pointed out that a million dollars was no money was Damon Dash and he has no money now.â
Well damn, 50. Tell them how you really feel.
Reflecting on Dameâs comments 50 continued âI only felt that because he said âThat ainât no money. After you get your watch, chain, look out for the homies⌠itâs nothing.â And I was like, âIâm from 134th Street. B, nah thatâs a lot of money. I think I hit the lotto. How you gonna say thatâs no money? I just never forgot that because of how that felt.â
Though that was a big damn deal back in 2002, at the time Jay-Z and Damon Dash had the rap game in a chokehold with their Roc-A-Fella Records imprint and were probably making millions of dollars on a weekly basis. So of course that was just pocket change to someone like Damon Dash.
Unfortunately for Dame, heâs since seen his net worth plummet past the basement and has recently been ordered to sell his stake in Roc-A-Fella Records to satisfy some outstanding debt.
Will he reply to 50 Centâs story is anyoneâs guess, but weâre not sure heâll want to open up that can of worms as we all know Fiddy lives to troll any and everyone who he feels gets out of pocket with him.

NLE Choppa wants his LGBTQ+ fans to know one thing: heâs an ally.
Despite making some headway, Hip-Hop still has a polarizing relationship (looking at you, Boosie) with the LGBTQ+ community, but NLE Choppa is making a legitimate case that rappers can change that.
NLE Choppaâs fanbase has expanded thanks to recent hits like âSlut Me Outâ and âSlut Me Out 2,â which has caught on with the LGBTQ+ community.
On Sunday, September 1, the Memphis-born rapper performed at the Atlanta Black Pride event and explained why he was doing what he does best on that particular stage.
âA lot of muthaf**kas will ask me, âMan, you a rapper, what you doing at a club like this?â Well I say âF**k them ni**as.â You wanna know why?â NLE said while addressing the crowd. âI ainât gonâ lie, man, every day we wake up and we fight acceptance every day. Whether itâs our skin color, whether if itâs our weight, Whether itâs what our sexuality is.â
He continued, âAnd listen, at the end of the day, I believe in one thing, I feel like everyone is equal, no matter how they drink their water, how they eat their food, how they piss, sh*t, or muthaf**kinâ sleep, you feel me?â
Thatâs real.
NLE Choppa Is On A New Path
NLE Choppa has made headlines not only because of his music but because of recent lifestyle changes. He went on a celibacy journey, revealing he practiced semen retention.
In a recent cover story for CassiusLife, NLE Choppa also discussed becoming a vegan and making changes he said he âdesperatelyâ needed to make.
âI did a lot of self-reflecting. Changed my personality, stopped hanging around certain people,â Choppa told the website. âThatâs why I say the pandemic was one of the most important parts of my life. ⌠Just knowing that I had a daughter conceiving at the moment, it really made me grow up.â

Earlier this summer New York State Governor Kathy Hochul implemented a mask ban after masked pro-Palestine protestors began harassing people in public around New York City and after doing so other cities and counties followed suit which led to this weekâs first arrest under the controversial mask ban law.
According to The New York Times, 18-year-old Wesslin Omar Ramirez Castillo was booked this past Sunday (Aug. 25) after police say he was spotted walking alone and masked down Spindle Road in Hicksville, Long Island. Though he wasnât engaged in any protest or bothering anyone in his proximity, he ran afoul of Nassau Countyâs recent Mask Transparency Act which was passed earlier this month to combat antisemitic incidents which have risen in recent months over the protests over the conflict in Palestine.
Though wearing a mask is a misdemeanor offense, a search of Castillo uncovered a bigger problem for the 18-year-old.
The New York Times reports:
When police officers arrived, they frisked Mr. Castillo and discovered a 14-inch knife in the waistband of his pants, the department said in a statement on Tuesday. He was charged on Monday with several crimes, including criminal possession of a weapon and a violation of the mask law.
âOur police officers were able to use the mask ban legislation as well as other factors to stop and interrogate an individual who was carrying a weapon with the intent to engage in a robbery,â Mr. Blakeman said in a statement. âPassing this law gave police another tool to stop this dangerous criminal.â
Scott Banks, the chief attorney of the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, said Legal Aid was representing Mr. Castillo. Mr. Banks declined to comment on the case.
Castillo played himself both wearing a ski mask (in August) and having a deadly weapon. Everyone knows that you either have one or the other when walking the streets because people will assume that if youâre wearing a mask (especially in the summer) you might have something else on you. In this case they were right. SMH.
But how man stop and frisks turn up nothing, though?
Though there are exceptions for wearing a mask in public (religious or health-related reasons), anyone else could be subject to a fine of $1,000, a year in prison or both.

An audio clip of JD Vance trashing childless women has raised more questions about his viability as Donald Trumpâs running mate.
Audio of a speech by Republican Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance attacking teachers who donât have children has resurfaced, causing the media to question his viability as Donald Trumpâs running mate. The audio was from a talk that Vance gave in 2021 for a forum given by the Center for Christian Virtue. âSo many of the leaders of the left, and I hate to be so personal about this, but theyâre people without kids trying to brainwash the minds of our children, that really disorients me and disturbs me,â he said to the audience before attacking the American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten.
âRandi Weingarten, whoâs the head of the most powerful teachersâ union in the country, she doesnât have a single child. If she wants to brainwash and destroy the minds of children, she should have some of her own and leave ours the hell alone,â
Vance continued. The clip wound up resurfacing on social media this week and quickly went viral, with the campaign team for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris also sharing it with their audience. When contacted for comment, Vanceâs spokesperson Taylor Van Kirk said that the politician âwill continue to loudly call this crap out to defend our kidsâ. Weingarten responded in a post on X, formerly Twitter, writing: âGross! JD Vanceâs comments are sad and insulting to millions of modern families, and school teachers including Catholic nuns, none of whom should be targeted for their family decisions.â
The clip has many observers in the media questioning Vanceâs fitness to be Trumpâs vice presidential nominee, as he is still fighting backlash over his âchildless cat ladiesâ comment directed at Democrats from 2021, which made its way online after Trump picked him to be his running mate. In a panel discussion on MSNBCâs Morning Joe, analyst Symone Sanders-Townsend expressed her bewilderment. âAmerica, that is just weird. It is weird and it is concerningâŚThis all goes back to this is why vetting is important,â she said before concluding, âI just â I just have to wonder what the vetting of JD Vance was because this is simply insane.â

TLC fans will have to be patient to see their favorite group. They have cancelled some shows after T-Boz suffered a medical emergency.
As reported on Deadspin duo did not get to perform on August 23 at the New York State Fair. Upon arriving to the town Friday the songstress started feeling ill. âShortly after arriving in Syracuse, Tionne âT-Bozâ Watkins experienced sudden and severe nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal cramps,â read an official statement. âShe was immediately seen by a doctor and subsequently taken to the hospital for further evaluation.â While all the symptoms are usually are a sign something she ate did not agree with her stomach medical professionals confirmed it was not food poisoning.
âThe doctor verified that this was not food poisoning, but an abdominal blockage,â the statement continued. âTionne deeply regrets having to cancel these shows and extends her sincere apologies to all her fans and the event promoters. The decision to cancel was made under the advisement of her physician, who required her to stay in the hospital overnight to undergo a CT scan to assess the severity of her condition.â
T-Boz did share that she is on her way back to recovery via her Instagram account. âIâm on The Mend!!! This Was Just One Of Those Unexpected Things That I Had No Control Over!â she wrote. âI Look Forward To Making It Up 2 You All⌠And Hopefully Iâll Get Out Of The Hospital Soon!!!â

The auction of Damon Anthony âDameâ Dashâs stake in Roc-A-Fella Records now has a new twist as New York State claims he owes them millions in back taxes.
The legal battle over mogul Dame Dashâs share in Jay-Zâs Roc-A-Fella Records has another added twist, as a motion was filed in a federal court in Manhattan by New Yorkâs Department of Taxation & Finance on Wednesday (August 21). According to reports, the motion was for the department to legally intervene in proceedings leading up to an auction of Dashâs share in the record label that will be conducted by the United States Marshalls Service in a Manhattan hotel on August 29. They claim that Dash owes $8.7 million in back taxes and penalties on income that he earned between 2005 and 2018.
âTo date, the Department has been unsuccessful in its efforts to collect the unpaid New York State tax debt owed by Dash,â wrote attorneys for the state in the filing. âIntervening in this matter may be the Departmentâs only opportunity to collect some of the unpaid taxes Dash owes to New York.â The motion adds more complexity to the situation, as the share held by Dash (which totals 33.3% interest) is being auctioned off to fulfill a judgment in a lawsuit won by film producer Josh Webber. Webber sued Dash over a failed movie partnership and was granted $823,000.
However, the New York Cityâs Department of Social Services will receive the first share of proceeds from the auction as Dash owes $145, 096 in unpaid child support.
The tax department made it clear that its filing was not to supersede the social services department, but it also said that it had a lien against Dashâs Roc-A-Fella proceeds for over a decade. Jay-Z and Kareem âBiggsâ Burke had tried to stop the auction from proceeding but were denied in February.
The opening bid of the auction will begin at $1.2 million, and Dash will receive any monies after the judgments are fulfilled, with his lawyer Natraj Bhushan claiming they âexpect a robust auction with bids entering the several millions if not higher.â What is clear is that Mr. Damon Dash is allergic to responsibility,â Webberâs attorney Chris Brown stated in an interview. âIâm more interested in learning if New York State will file tax evasion charges against him or if he will be arrested at the upcoming auction. That is what I want to find out. Just my opinion.â

Method Man claimed in an interview that heâs not received any streaming revenue for his music, where he also shared his thoughts on artificial intelligence.
Streaming hasnât provided any cash to the iconic rapper and actor Method Man, which he revealed in a recent interview. The interview was for the Beyond The Mic series, a collaboration between HOT97 and UBS, and was held at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York before he took the stage for the radio stationâs Summer Jam event.
The issue of streaming came up about five minutes into the conversation, where UBS Head of Sports & Entertainment Wale Ogunleye asked Method Man what grade heâd give the music industry. âThe industry gets an F,â the Wu-Tang Clan member replied. âIt took them too long to adjust to streaming to where theyâre drowning, and trying to tread water now.â
âI think it goes way deeper than that, especially when it comes to IPs [Intellectual Properties] for artists that came from my era because honestly, Iâve never received a streaming check for my music,â Method Man stated. He didnât elaborate further on the claim, but continued: âIâm still trying to figure it all out, because there may be someone who can make a perfect mix of the two where â Iâm not saying to accept it, but at least make art out of it, and thatâs what Iâm always for, the creative part.â
The Tical rapper also spoke about the increasing use of artificial intelligence, or A.I., in Hip-Hop. âIâm still trying to figure out A.I., but I have seen some things that have made me raise an eyebrow,â he said, âThe Drake diss with the 2Pac and Snoop [Dogg], the fake Kendrick [Lamar].. Itâs a lot to it.â Snoop Dogg has been very vocal about the failures of streaming platforms within the past year, revealing that despite getting a billion streams on Spotify with his music, he hasnât received much from his publishing. More artists such as Metro Boomin have also spoken up about the lack of revenue theyâre suffering from with streaming music services.
