Fashion is having a hot girl moment — literally. The mini shorts and hot pants trend has returned with a vengeance, turning up the heat on runways, red carpets, and street style alike.

If you search your favorite celebrity or fashion influencer chances are they’ve been rocking a version of a hot pants look. Think Keke Palmer, Tokyo Styles, Kelly Rowland, Fantasia, Kandi Burruss, and more.

While the trend has been around for some time, it’s clear that it’s not going anywhere soon. Once thought to be a spring and summer staple, fashionistas, from celebrities to HB writers, are making it work for fall, winter, and beyond.
The trend is bold and for baddies only. So, let’s talk about how to make it your own.
1. Tights, Please: Layer with Tights for Cold Weather Realness
Hot pants and tights are a match made in fashion heaven – especially in the fall and winter. Layering tights under mini shorts adds warmth, edge, and dimension.
While many fashion lovers choose black, opaque tights for a sleek classic look – like HB fashion editor Lauren Evette – there are other options to try. Consider bold patterned tights or fishnets for a little “that girl” energy.

Pro Tip: Take it further with statement tights in jewel tones (think emerald green, deep purple, or ruby red) to add a pop of color beneath your neutral shorts.
2. Suited Up: Turn your Mini Shorts Look into a Power Suit
One way to upgrade your hot pants is with a suited look. Wearing them with an elongated jacket adds a grown and sexy finish.
A matching tailored blazer or a long trench coat works perfectly. The coordinate lets you keep things a little covered up (until you don’t want to be). We’re talking talking totally CEO vibes like Big Boss Keke Palmer.

3. Sheer Genius: Pair Hot Pants with a Sheer Top
Make your hot pants even more daring with a sheer top. A mesh, chiffon, or lace blouse adds a layer of elegance while still giving that peek-a-boo effect. Style your sheer shirt with a bralette or bandeau of the same color underneath.
Style Tip: Opt for monochromatic looks to give it that polished, runway-ready feel. A black sheer blouse and black leather hot pants, as HB’s Managing Director Shamika Sanders wore on a recent date night, is chef’s kiss.

4. Making Hot Pants Even Hauter: Play with Bold Colors, Fringe, and Metallics
If you are a baddie who loves to stand out, this tip is for you. Make your hot pants even more the star of the show with funky fabrics, fringe details, or vibrant colors. We’re talking fringe that dances while you move, bold colors that make people stare, and metallics that are simply iconic.
Kelly Rowland wore a version of funky hot pants while attending the Book of Clarence LA premiere earlier this year. Wowing on the red carpet, she stunned in a black and gold metallic body suit with a matching jacket.

Pro Tip: The key to this style is to let the pants be the statement. Keep other jewelry, hair, and beauty details simple.
Ready to try the hot pants trend this winter?
Sis, you should be! From day parties to date nights, these little statement-makers are versatile, bold, and endlessly fun to style. Whether you’re pairing them with sheer tops, tights, boots, or bold textures, this trend is all about owning your confidence.

Max B, a highly influential rapper who inspired the likes of Wiz Khalifa and Drake, has been behind bars since 2009 just as his star was on a meteoric rise. On the Wednesday episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Max B called one of the co-hosts and shared his impending release date.

Around the 1:07-minute mark of The Joe Budden Podcast, Max B dialed in to co-host Ice (also known as @OfficiallyIce across socials) from Northern State Prison in Newark, N.J. Sounding in good spirits, Max Biggavelli showed off his charm with rapid-fire jokes and announcing himself as the “Wave Daddy” and “Wave God” and letting the cast know that he’s “walking this thing down” in connection to his release date.

Ice and the crew inquired about Max’s state of being and he shared with the hosts that he’s keeping himself in shape and ready to return to the music. Most fans of the “Silver Surfer” are aware that his protege French Montana has kept the flag waving, no pun intended, and has spearheaded efforts to seek freedom for his compatriot.
Max B said that his release date will be November 9, 2025, getting a round of applause from the pod. Max says that he’s ready and willing to work but is keeping his sights set on the “A-List” as he referred to it. Maybe we’ll get that long-awaited Biggavelli and Wiz track next year?
Check out the podcast below. Hop to the 1:07-minute mark to hear the Max B portion. Salute to Wavey Crockett aka The Boss Don. We’re Making America Wavey Again.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has kept a low profile after the explosive allegations of sexual assault and misconduct that were revealed this year, and there is a potential for hundreds more to come forth. According to Tony Buzbee, Diddy could face new allegations number into the hundreds after the Texas attorney says he’s fielded thousands of calls from alleged victims of the producer and mogul.
As reported by Mirror, Sean “Diddy” Combs, 55, might face several more civil lawsuit claims according to Buzbee, who says he’s heard from 3,000 individuals since requesting potential victims to come forth this past October. Buzbee thus far has filed almost two dozen lawsuits for both alleged male and female victims of Combs and says around 300 claimants could potentially emerge

However, the report adds that Buzbee’s estimation is actually closer to a number around 100 to 150 as some claims would be filed in states where time limits to bring a lawsuit have since expired.
Combs, much like Jay-Z, has framed Buzbee’s legal blitz as nothing more than a financial shakedown attempt and has denied the claims laid against him. Combs’ attorney has said that despite Buzbee’s efforts, “the truth will prevail. Mr Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone – man or woman, adult or minor.”
Diddy is currently housed in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre and has been denied bail a handful of times. It is expected he will remain in the MDC until his trial in May of next year. The Bad Boy Records founder is also facing claims of sex trafficking and racketeering, which he is also denying.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé were all smiles as they attended the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King, showing major support for their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. The event was held in New York City, where Blue Ivy, who’s 12, was there for her role in the new Disney movie. For the premiere, Blue Ivy looked super chic in a black outfit and rocked a sleek hairstyle. Her parents matched her vibe, with Beyoncé wearing a classy black-and-white gown, while Jay-Z went for a more casual look with a hoodie and jacket.

Mufasa: The Lion King is a prequel to the classic Lion King film and focuses on Simba’s father, Mufasa. Blue Ivy’s involvement in this project is a huge moment, especially since she’s still so young and already making waves in Hollywood. Fans are eager to hear Blue Ivy’s voice acting in the movie, as she’s already proven herself as a rising star, even winning a Grammy at just 9 years old. It’s clear that her superstar parents are fully behind her as she continues to chase her dreams.

Jay-Z hit the red carpet just a day after being named in a lawsuit with Diddy. The lawsuit accuses them of assaulting a 13-year-old girl back in 2000. It was originally filed in October with just Diddy listed, but this past Sunday, Jay-Z (whose real name is Shawn Carter) was added to the case. Hov made a statement regarding the accusations, “My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit.”

As the year comes to a close, movie lovers got a peek into what to expect come award season in early 2025.
This morning, Dec. 9, Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut announced the ceremony’s 2025 film and television nominees.

Fan favorites such as Wicked, Abbott Elementary, Dune: Part II, The Bear, and Emilia Pérez all (expectedly) landed nominations. Along with 26 total first-time nominees (including Pamela Anderson, Zoe Saldana, Glen Powell, Ariana Grande, Jesse Plemons, Karla Sofia Gascon, and Nikki Glaser), Viola Davis will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Ted Danson with the Carol Burnett Award.

Also of note this year, Gladiator II actor and two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his portrayal of Macrinus in the swords-and-sandals epic.
It is his eleventh Golden Globe nomination, setting a new record for Black performers.

Last month, Washington shut down rumors that he was retiring from acting.
While on a press run to promote the November 22 release of Gladiator II, Washington reflected on his career and rattled off the next few films he’d be appearing in, making it seem like after those movies wrapped, he’d be retiring from the industry.
Of course longtime fans were disheartened to hear that the actor, who turns 70 next month, was calling it quits. And as the interview made its way around the web, word on the street was DW was about to retire.

In a later interview, Washington explained that he wasn’t leaving the industry entirely, but that he’d only accept future roles that truly spoke to him.
“I didn’t say I was going to go into retirement. I said that it has to be a level of interest for me. I’m more interested in getting behind the camera, so that’s about five years out,” he said.
“I’m not retiring,” he added, saying he realizes his age makes it more difficult to keep up with the younger generation of action stars. “It’s not like on June 5, that’s it. But to think that I’m going to run as far as they are or as far as you are, I’d be a fool.”

Is it 2017 all over again? Dej Loaf & Jacquees link back up to complete our childhoods with a sequel from their fan favorite ‘F*ck a Friendzone’ project. The first collab mixtape dropped on February 10, 2017, with the leading club smash, ‘At The Club’. It was remotely impossible (still is the case) to go into any club without hearing that song.

Years later, the duo linked back up and dropped the single, ‘Just Another Love Song’ which will be on F*ck a Friendzone 2

Earlier this year Dej Loaf made an appearance on Jacquees’s mixtape ‘Come Back to Me’ on the track ‘If I’ which had a very similar bop to At The Club. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it right?
After a few years apart, the two artists are diving back into the creative process, blending Jacquees’ smooth R&B vocals with Dej Loaf’s unique blend of rap and melody. Their reunion has generated significant buzz, with fans eager to hear what this duo will create in 2024. This long-awaited collaboration promises to be a musical treat for their dedicated audiences.
Dej Loaf has been extremely low-key in recent years, with little new music released since her 2017 album Liberated. While she has teased new material and occasionally shared snippets on social media, fans have been eagerly waiting for her next full project. The Chicago rapper’s absence from the spotlight has left a noticeable gap in the music scene, especially considering her breakthrough with hits like “Try Me” and “Back Up.” Despite this silence, her loyal fanbase remains down and READY for a comeback, anticipating that when Dej Loaf does return, it will be with a fresh, impactful sound that reaffirms her unique style.

Adrian Wojnarowski, the former lead NBA reporter for ESPN, stepped down from the role earlier this year to become the general manager of his alma mater’s men’s basketball team, St. Bonaventure. In a new interview, Wojnarowski, lovingly referred to as Woj by his colleagues and readers, shared that he’s been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is monitoring his health carefully.
Woj sat down with Sports Illustrated and shared with the publication what his next steps in life are after many years as ESPN’s top NBA insider. Woj was one of the leading sports reporters covering the NBA due to his ability to obtain breaking news ahead of other outlets and his sources offered reliable tips that led to published stories.

In the SI piece, Wojnarowski does reveal that while the diagnosis was indeed jarring, it wasn’t the reason he stepped away from his coveted role at ESPN. Instead, he framed it as a moment of clarity.
From SI:
The prognosis, Woj says, is good. “When you hear cancer, you think about it going through your body like Pac-Man,” Woj says. “Prostate cancer, it generally stays confined to your prostate and is typically slow growing.” He has no symptoms and says the cancer is “pretty limited in scope.” Active surveillance is the current treatment, which translates to quarterly checkups and regular monitoring. He’s been instructed to improve his eating habits, exercise more and get better sleep. Surgery is still a possibility, but for now doctors say the only reason to have it is if he can’t mentally deal with having the cancer inside him.
The sobering news aside, Wojnarowski also stated that he intends to enjoy life more and realizes that time is fleeting. One of his former ESPN colleagues, NFL insider Chris Mortensen, died in March of this year from throat cancer. After attending a memorial service for Mortensen in Arkansas this past May, the moment hammered home to Wojnarowski how unimportant the job was in comparison to spending time with loved ones.
“In the end, it’s just going to be your family and close friends. And it’s also, like, nobody gives a sh*t. Nobody remembers [breaking stories] in the end. It’s just vapor,” Woj said.
Amen to that.
