R&B singer Tyrese tried to have a moment as a political pundit, and it did not go well for him. After admonishing President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for allegedly not doing enough for Black people, social media users proceeded to drag him to the ends of the “loud and wrong” universe.
It started when footage of Tyrese speaking to Dr. Benjamin Crump started going viral. In the clip, the crooner was being critical of Harris and Biden for passing an Anti-Asian Hate Crime Bill that allegedly leapfrogged the problems of Black people throughout the nation.
“President Biden and Kamala Harris signed an Asian Hate Crime Bill, which makes it beyond illegal to ever purposely or maliciously do anything to anybody in the Asian community,” said Tyrese. “And there was a spike in crimes and criminal behavior in and around COVID allegedly and specifically motivated by Donald Trump. So everybody started treating Asians… beating them, killing them, shooting them, stabbing them, hurting them. And then [Biden] gets into the White House and skips over every Black and Brown Mexican and Latino that has been getting killed like flies and he makes it a low: Asian Hate Crime Bill.”
Black Ty wasn’t finished. He continued, “There is a crime bill that was signed into law that protects Asians at all costs. Where is that same f*cking law to be signed into law when it comes to Black and Brown people? Because what you’re doing is—President Biden and Kamala Harris—what you’re doing is, you’re saying that Black and Brown people will continue to be disposable. That sh*t doesn’t make sense.”
This Biden and Harris helped Asians and not Black people narrative has been running on social media for a while, but the problem is that it’s highly inaccurate. And for this, Tyrese proceeded to get schooled by anyone with actual political awareness beyond memes and barbershop talking points.
Off top, there is no Anti-Asia Hate Crime Bill, it’s actually called the Covid-19 Hate Crime Bill. In actuality, there have been a number of bills passed specifically tailored for the defense of Black people that include the Civil Rights Act of 1969 and more recently the Emmett Till Antilynching Act a hate crime bill of 2021, which Biden signed. Many people are quick to note all this energy about Democrats not really looking out for Black people, yet most progressive bills (like the George Floyd Act) were blocked by Republicans.
What makes all this particularly frustrating to people who know better, is that all the intel needed to counter such misinformation is just a Google search away. Add to this mix that a loud minority of Black men are doing it, and it’s just the nastiest of work.
Worth noting, Tyrese also recently revealed that he was taking a break (“go dark”) from social media. Do some reading sir, respectfully.
Check out the lessons Tyrese is getting in the gallery. Consider it the hard way of getting knowledge on these Internets.

Tyrese is the king of oversharing on social media and keeping his followers involved in all aspects of his life, good or bad. So it doesn’t surprise anyone that he has a lot to say about his ex-wife on Instagram.
The so-called “vision implementor” and star of the dragged-out Fast & Furious movie franchise had time for his ex-wife, Norma Mitchell Gibson, two days ago on his Instagram account.
In a lengthy post, Tyrese aired all of the frustrations, trials, and tribulations he continues to endure with his ex-wife, who is also the mother of his 16-year-old daughter, Shayla. He told his 20 million plus followers he would no longer live in fear of what his ex-wife might do to him next.
“I’ve got nothing to lose but my mind and my reputation… And neither one of these are no longer up for grabs..” the actor begins the ridiculously long caption. “I get it, I get it… We are living in the TIMES UP and ME TOO ERA! And as soon as a man goes public about the abuse and trauma inflicted on him by a women we are shamed into silence? I’m past that…Be yourself in my comments! STFU, MAN UP! Stop putting your personal shit out there on the timeline…. Be more private?
“Did you tell my ex to be more private in 2017 when her accusations rocked my life, my career, my marriage and every opportunity imaginable that was in motion was killed instantly? After a FULL TRIAL in 2017 with her testifying over 120 LIES was documented UNDER OATH…Did you shame her into silence? No!”
Tyrese Accuses His Ex-Wife of Blackmail, Extortion & More
The actor hit his ex-wife with all kinds of accusations like death threats, extortion, blackmail, international wire fraud, hell, basically any illegal activity you can think of.
“I’m done living my life in fear of what she might accuse me of next… I’m done with anyone having power over my life to make ALL THAT I HAVE BUILT crumble…. [ for those of you who will say ‘Cry me a river, you rich alpha MALE’…. That’s cool.
“Extortion, death threats, blackmail, tax evasion, domestic and international wire fraud, skipping 3 FULL YEARS of tuition of our daughter’s schooL OVER 25k in the rears 167 pages of the full on court documents link in bio ] …25 years of my life and me being a committed father…. No one will EVER HAVE POWER over my life and career…. Ever….”
Tyrese’s Public Relationship Woes
The actor/singer has a long history of public disputes with the women he is romantically dealing with. After leaving Mitchell, he married Samantha Lee.
Gibson and Lee are currently dealing with a messy divorce.
After Lee, he began dating Instagram influencer/model Zelie Timothy. They broke up after Tyrese once again got Instagram on Super Bowl Sunday, claiming she gave him the boot because he was recording too many songs about his breakup with his ex-wife, per Baller Alert.
Bruh.
Honestly, we want Tyrese to take us out of the group chat.

Tyrese found himself on the business end of sharp jabs from DJ Envy during a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show. Now, Tyrese is firing back at the host, stating that he never disrespected Envy’s wife, although the plot just got a bit thicker after the singer’s latest shot.
By way of a lengthy Instagram video post, Tyrese opens up the chat to say that DJ Envy’s claims of him disrespecting his wife wouldn’t add up because he’s been around beautiful women all his life and has never crossed that line before.
For the backstory, Tyrese was a guest on The Breakfast Club last week when the singer was confronted by DJ Envy over being overly friendly with his wife. Envy also went on to say that Black Ty has a history of doing this with the spouses of those close to him according to a former assistant who claimed it happened to him as well.
Tyrese also went on to say that he was supportive of Envy and his wife Gia Casey during the couple’s public issues but that the same grace wasn’t extended to him and his relationship woes. However, one curious moment is Tyrese admitting that he sent Envy’s wife a photo of his new Rolls Royce vehicle.
Envy and Casey fired back at Tyrese’s claims of the host being a liar in the clip below. According to the videos below, Ty even made demands on her time, something you definitely can’t and shouldn’t do with someone’s romantic partner on any level.

Over the years, Tyrese hasn’t been shy about showcasing his vulnerability on social media and proving to be one of the most emotional celebrities in the game. Luckily for him, he has some celebrity homies who’ll take the time to reach out and offer him a shoulder to cry on.
On Thursday (May 25), Tyrese took to Instagram to share how Snoop Dogg came to his aid in his time of need and gave us more reason to love the Doggfather while also supporting Tyrese as he sails through turbulent waters. In the post that featured some audio from Snoop’s call, Tyrese wrote “I was depressed and posting my raw vulnerabilities online God knows I need this phone call from my big homie Snoop Dogg.”
In the audio, we hear Snoop offer up words on encouragement and understanding saying “See all these people that you naming? The record industry don’t respect them and don’t understand the fucking heavyweight shit that you dropping on this record.” Continuing to comfort him with words, Snoop explained, “This is mental health. This is relationships. This is all of the shit that the world is going through in one package, and my ni**a dealing with it, you actually dealing with it through the pain of this record. You’re gonna help somebody else learn how to live through pain and make that a beautiful pain.”
Anyone would be lucky to have a Snoop Dogg in their corner. Not just cause they’d have an exceptional weed connect or Skechers plug, but because the man seems to be the kind of person to look out for his homies on an emotional level, and those type of people don’t grow on trees.
“You my ni**a, cuz. I’m not gon’ never let you put your m*thafuckin’ head down and do nothing that ain’t appropriate. I’ma watch you from the sidelines, and then when God and them talk to me from upstairs, that’s when I’ma step in and do what Kim do. We work for the same God, my ni**a, you gotta know that,” Snoop said as the audio went on.
Snoop could be looking at a new opportunity as a G’d up therapist for the hood. Just sayin’.
The post comes on the heels of Tyrese talking about turning down some record deals as he is still dealing with the fallout from the divorce of his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, who he says married him for “money” and said it was a “transaction” for her.
“Wow, so we did whole marriage and did the whole duration of a child and starting a family, just to find out that it was all about money… status?”
Naturally, someone who wears his heart on his sleeve like Tyrese does would be devastated to feel like his marriage was a sham, but luckily he still has Snoop in his life and he was there to help him pick up the pieces and encourage him to move forward.

Tyrese may want to rethink how he deals with his child support case. The R&B singer has been ordered to pay a cool $636,000 to his ex for back child support and lawyer fees—by the same judge he publicly called “racist.”
TMZ reports that the actor and crooner was in Fulton County court on Tuesday (April 25) for his continuing child support struggle with Samantha Lee Gibson. Apparently, the rapper known as Black Ty was not trying to pay the $10,000 a month he was ordered to pay way back in August 2022.
Important to the context here is that recently Tyrese took to social media to accuse the court and judge, Kevin M. Farmer, of being racist against during the custody battle. Tyrese also noted that the judge allegedly call his ex-wife a b*tch.
“Now listen, we ain’t together no more, we have our share of issues,” said Tyrese on Instagram. “But I have never referred to the mother of my child as a b*tch. To hear this white man on the bench, wearing a black robe, who is supposed to represent the law, to refer to my ex-wife and the mother of my child as a b*tch…why is he still on the stand?”
Reportedly, while on the stand today he said he felt the $10,000 a month was excessive considering his ex makes good money. Nevertheless, the judge still held the singer in contempt since he hadn’t forked order any of the money he had been ordered to. Tyrese was hit with contempt of court charges and ordered to pay $237,944 in back child support asd well as $399,000 for his ex-wife’s attorney fees. On top of that, he has to hand over another $17,000 for the special master the judge ordered to deal any other disputes between Tyrese and his ex.
Bruh…
But hey, at least he wasn’t arrested, right? Interestingly, Tyrese has been paying child support, just not the ordered $10K a month. The $238K number the judge landed on was the difference.

Tyrese is back—and of course, he’s giving fans an in-depth look at what led to the very public divorce between him and Samantha Lee with his new double album, Beautiful Pain.
During a recent interview with Lifestyle Specialist Kenny Burns, the triple threat revealed not only how the divorce inspired his new project but he also shared the obstacles that he and his current girlfriend, Zelie, have overcome in their blossoming relationship while going through his divorce; before being dropped from his label.
While discussing the upcoming project, Tyrese shared his thoughts on why it’s hard for Black men to open up while going through mental health issues, stating that oftentimes their struggles are overlooked due to others focusing on their social status and wealth.
“You tell someone you’re depressed and the first thing is, ‘yea ok, you got a Rolls Royce, n***a you’ll be alright.’ When the truth is when you’ve been getting money as long as we’ve been getting money, that ain’t going to stop you from carrying and feeling and trying to navigate through that sh*t.”
The two legends also discussed the inspiration behind Beautiful Pain, to which the Fast X star attributes both his ex-wife, Samantha, and current girlfriend Zelie Timothy for the inspiration.
“I want to give ya’ll the heads up,” Tyrese continued. “For all of you uber-sensitive people out there, let me tell you what you’re not going to do—and that is stop me from speaking up, living, and walking in my truth. And if your brain is triggered by a man speaking his truth and sharing what he experienced and you look at that as bashing or tearing down someone because they happen to be a woman—then your whole process is wrong.”
While Tyrese is in a great place regarding his music currently, the triple threat took to Instagram on Tuesday (Feb. 14) to announce to fans and ask for love before sharing that he had been dropped by his music label, Voltron Recordz, on the one-year anniversary of the death of his mother, Priscilla Murray Gibson.
In his lengthy caption, Gibson explained all of the tragic events that have taken place on Feb. 14.
“My Label just dropped me on the same day my mother passed! [heartbreak emoji],” Gibson wrote on top of a copy of what he’s shared as a termination agreement. “Today my mother transitioned of all days on Valentine’s Day last year 2022… Same year my father died [REGGIE ANDREWS LOCKE SAINTS Father figure, [and it] just so happens to be the same day that I got married to Samantha. Still to this day, I have no clue as to why she filed for divorce.. Just so happened to be the same day that I just got dropped from my label…. Imagine that?”
