Killer Mike appeared on The View and reflected on his arrest at the Grammy Awards, referring to it as “water under the bridge.”
On Monday (Feb. 12), Killer Mike appeared as a guest on The View, fresh off of his sweep of the rap category at the Grammy Awards last weekend stemming from his album, MICHAEL. Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in and asked a question. “There was an incident at the Grammys, it led to you being handcuffed and taken out of the Grammys – that was wrong,” she began, acknowledging the ongoing legal case that prevented Killer Mike from saying much, “can you just give us some sort of description?”
“I think backstage was overcrowded, I think the winners were exuberant, and I think security got a little over zealous,” Killer Mike, also known as Michael Render, said referring to his arrest. “It’s water under the bridge for me.” He continued: “All of my heroes have been in handcuffs – Malcolm, Martin, Mandela, Medgar. I walked out with the same dignity and respect that I walked in with, and I would implore people to just take that from it.” He then went on to detail how the moment put him in a space of gratitude. “I thanked God for putting me in a space, believe it or not, by myself. And I got an opportunity to invoke the spirit of my mom and my grandmother and let them know what had happened and thank them,” he said.
The “Scientists & Engineers” rapper also opened up about the joy he felt in finding out his eldest son was getting a kidney after three years on a waitlist. “The next morning, I woke up to my son’s mother saying you have to come home because [his son] has a kidney. They have a kidney for him and we have to get him now. And I just thanked God.” He was also asked about his hesitation in endorsing President Joe Biden, to which he replied that he was going to have a “hyper-local” focus. “In terms of nationally, I’m just kinda doing what my grandfather said, ‘Stay out of white folks’ business and watch what happens’…For right now, I just don’t want to be involved in the soap opera,” he said.

The hosts of The View slammed Madonna on Friday (Jan. 19) after the icon was sued by two New York City men for starting her Celebration tour stops two hours late.
“I personally wouldn’t wait two hours to get a hot oil massage from George Clooney, much less a concert by anybody,” host Joy Behar said during The View‘s Hot Topics segment. However, Sunny Hostin wasn’t “bothered” by the situation. “I don’t think she should be sued,” she said. “This is baked into Madonna. She’s an icon. She’s always late. When you go to a Madonna concert, you know you have to eat before, you have to get lit before, and you’re going to wait about two hours and listen to a DJ.”

However, the group noted that most acts including Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez and more, all start their shows on time.
“Insert any person’s name who are two hours late. It’s disrespectful,” Sara Haines added. “You’re literally flipping off your fans who paid to come and watch you. You can be a diva. You should not act like a diva. To me, Madonna is not there.”
Haines continued, “Beyoncé? Always on time. Taylor Swift, Pink, that’s called respectful. It’s how you’re raised. You respect someone’s time the way you expect them to respect yours. You showed up here. They paid hundreds of dollars.”
Madonna is currently facing a federal class action lawsuit after allegedly starting her three New York City concerts later than scheduled, a delay that her accusers — show attendees Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden — say caused harm to themselves and other ticket buyers who “had to get up early to go to work” the next day.
In a complaint filed Wednesday (Jan. 17) in Brooklyn federal court, Fellows and Hadden claim Madge breached her contract with concertgoers and violated New York state laws by starting the shows in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center past 10:30 p.m. instead of the scheduled 8:30 p.m. The two men say attendees were “left stranded in the middle of the night,” as the show ended past 1 a.m., and some were “confronted with limited public transportation” options. They also point out that the concert took place “on a weeknight,” meaning they “had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day.”

The women of The View had a lot to say concerning Travis Kelce following the football player’s recent Wall Street Journal interview about Taylor Swift.
On the Tuesday (Nov. 21) episode of the talk show, hosts Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin took turns calling out “red flags” they found in Kelce’s candid interview, in which he gave details how he and the “Anti-Hero” singer first started dating, and shared he worries about how his relationship with the media might make Swift uncomfortable.
“Some of the things he said raised some red flags for me,” said Hostin. “He said, ‘The biggest thing to me: Make sure I don’t say anything that would push Taylor away.’ What is he hiding? … He’s sending in his representative so he doesn’t offend her in any way — that’s not real life. People offend you sometimes.”
“My red flag is this,” added Griffin, who wondered whether the Chiefs tight end is simply a “palate cleanser” for Swift following her longterm relationship with Joe Alwyn. “My only concern is she got out of a seven-year relationship and really jumped into this. You tend to want to give some time to get over the previous relationship. I root for them, I want to see her happy, I think she’s one of the most talented musicians of my lifetime by far, but it seems like a little bit of a rush.”
Haines, however, suspected that Kelce is using his newfound fame from the relationship as a stepping stone to a post-NFL career. “He is huge in the football world, and then you go to Taylor Swift Land, and I think that if you were thinking about next chapters, this would be lovely,” she theorized. “I think he’s looking for his second act.”
The new View segment comes about a week after the ladies discussed Kelce’s decade-old tweets, many of which recently resurfaced as fans and brands alike started combing through his Twitter account. While many of the Ohio native’s (often misspelled) posts were innocent musings about Taco Bell or feeding bread to squirrels, the View hosts took issue with a few in which Kelce reportedly insulted girls for being “ugly.”
“He’s illiterate,” Behar said at the time, adding that she didn’t want Swift to be “stuck with this idiot.”
Not all of the hosts had negative things to say about Kelce, though. On the Tuesday episode, Griffin pointed out how it can be “hard at that level of celebrity to find people with the right intentions.” “He seems like a very nice guy and I root for them,” she added. “But I do think [Taylor] has to be careful.”

We’re still more than a year out from the 2024 U.S. presidential election, but one particularly unlikely name seems to have The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin’s vote. During a heated Wednesday morning (Sept. 20) roundtable discussion about the imminent government shutdown, Griffin controversially claimed that Taylor Swift is doing more for the economy than […]

Whoopi Goldberg sent a video message to her co-hosts of The View while recovering from COVID-19, knocking down online conspiracies in the process.
On Wednesday (September 6th), Joy Behar opened up the episode by informing the audience as she did the day before that Goldberg was absent due to COVID before playing a video message from the EGOT winner. “In spite of everything you’ve heard,” said a masked-up Goldberg, “I am not at Burning Man, I am not still in Italy, I am not trying to change the outcome of the election, I just have Covid.”

She commented that she was still testing positive for Covid, so she would not be on the show for the next few days. Goldberg went on to state that she was “thrilled to see the beautiful new desk” which made its debut on Tuesday for the premiere of the daytime talk show’s 27th season. “And I’m thrilled to see all the beautiful women…I can’t wait to get back and hang out.”
It’s the third time that Goldberg has been infected with COVID-19. Behar took time out to address the mounting conspiracy theories peddled by right-wingers, who claim that high-profile announcements of those who had caught Covid were being created to initiate government crackdowns through mandates. The White House previously announced that First Lady Jill Biden tested positive for Covid on Monday (September 5th).
Behar added her two cents about all of the conspiracy theories on air. “People write she got the vaccine so how come she still gets it?” she said. ” “Because she’s not dead! She’s just a little under the weather. If you don’t get [the vaccine] and you get the disease you might die.” Co-host Ana Navarro joined in to say, “Before we had the vaccines, people did die.” Behar then quipped, “This type of irrational talk drives me nuts.”

Lionel Richie may be 73 years old but he can still go “All Night Long”…well, kinda.
On Tuesday (March 28), the singer-songwriter stopped by The View with his fellow American Idol judges, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer joked about his Grammy-nominated 1983 hit after host Sara Haines brought up the track’s looming 40th anniversary. “I have to really, really say to you: when I wrote ‘All Night Long,’ it was truly all night long. Now my ‘All Night Long’ is down to a fierce 15 minutes. But don’t worry about it, we’ll talk about that later.”
“Is this show live? Is this show live?” a wide-eyed Perry asked over the hosts’ laughter before offering her co-star a handshake and adding, “15 minutes? That’s long, bud!”(Richie also got an uncertain congratulations from Bryan.)
Richie then leaned further into the joke, quipping, “And don’t you forget that, all right?” before Perry jumped into loudly add, “As long as it’s not four times a night, you know, seven days a week!”
Bedroom jokes aside, the trio of judges also opened up about the newest season of Idol, with Richie explaining that they’re never looking for “just another singer” during the audition rounds of the show. “We’re looking for characters, we’re looking for people who have unique qualities,” he continued. “Originality. For example, it’s not karaoke. We’re looking for, what’s the unique thing you have?”
American Idol is currently airing Sunday and Monday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC. Watch the entire interview below.
Can you feel it creeping up on you? The co-hosts of The View analyzed the results of the 2022 midterm elections on Wednesday morning (Nov. 9) with a little help from Taylor Swift‘s Midnights.
“Now the votes are still being counted in many of yesterday’s midterm elections, but it looks like that ‘red tsunami’ didn’t quite materialize,” Whoopi Goldberg stated, making reference to the predicted GOP sweep of the election to introduce the Hot Topics segment.
While Ron DeSantis flipped Florida red with his win as governor, other congressional races saw Democrats like John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Maggie Hassan beat far-right candidates backed by former president Donald Trump, and the show’s resident Republican co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin couldn’t help but make a reference to a fan-favorite track from Swift’s latest chart-topping album.
“Listen, I’m a Republican. I wanted good Republicans to win and I wanted bad Republicans to lose,” the freshman conservative voice at the table said before quipping, “I’m not losing sleep that Dr. Oz lost his race last night!
“This is actually the best I’ve felt about the country,” she continued, “because it was much more, [as] Taylor Swift would call a ‘Lavender Haze.’ This was no red wave.”
While Tay probably wasn’t thinking of the electoral map when she was writing “Lavender Haze” with help from Jack Antonoff and Zoe Kravitz, the Midnights opener debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 behind chart-topping lead single “Anti-Hero” in the same week the superstar set a new record as the first artist to ever dominate the entire Hot 100 top 10 in Billboard history. (This week, on the chart dated Nov. 12, the track remains in the top 10, dropping 2-6.)
