The Oscars

A new report reveals that the Oscars slapping incident was extremely detrimental to Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s philanthropic endeavors and sheds light on how donation money was handled.

Variety exclusively reports that the Will And Jada Smith Family Foundation will shut down after donations began drying up following Will Smith slapping the taste out of Chris Rock’s mouth for not KEEPING HIS wife’s NAME OUT OF HIS MOUTH.
Per Variety:

According to tax records from the Will And Jada Smith Family Foundation reviewed by Variety (via ProPublica), the foundation’s revenue dropped from $1,760,000 in 2020 and $2,138,660 in 2021 to $365,870 in 2022. The year-over-year drop of 83% included the departure of contributors such as American Airlines, which donated $76,160 in 2021, and CAA, which contributed $100,000 in 2021.
The website also reports the charitable organization that focuses on matters the couple cares deeply about, like health and wellness, arts education, and sustainability, gave large sums of money to two organizations, Rebecoming and World Rebirth Foundation. that didn’t do a damn thing with the money they received.
The Will and Jada Smith Foundation gave $15,000 to Rebecoming in 2022, an organization “dedicated to understanding and unlocking the healing potential of non-ordinary states of consciousness through clinical research into the mechanism-of-action behind trauma release.”
When Variety did more digging on Rebecoming, they learned the organization’s website had not been updated since 2020 and continued to file tax paperwork through 2022.
World Rebirth Foundation Inc. received $10,000 from the Smiths in 2022. Variety reports the organization’s website is not live, and the last update on the Facebook page happened in 2023 while adding the organization’s mission statement is full of typos.
Bruh.
The Foundation’s Troubling Spending
Variety also touches on the Will and Jada Smith Foundation’s 2022 expenditures, which included office equipment and computers plus an eyebrow-raising  $3,304 in “bank overdrawn” fees.
As of 2023, there are no more paid employees at the foundation, which began cutting back on staff in 2021, signaling the Smiths to move away from the organization.
Despite the Smith’s philanthropic failures, Will Smith is still one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors, making $25 million per project, which includes Bad Boys: Ride or Die and his upcoming Netflix project Fast and Loose.

Will Smith and The Oscars will forever be linked after the slapping incident heard around the world involving the actor and Chris Rock. However, some on X are wondering out loud why Will Smith is banned for his actions but John Cena going nude on the Oscars stage got to fly without a hitch.
In a bit with Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel, John Cena presented the nominees for the Best Costume Design award. Cena’s state of undress was a callback to the 1974 Academy Awards ceremony where a naked streaker took to the stage.
Cena elected not to run across the stage but instead was naked save for covering the front of his privates with the nominee list. The award was given to Holly Waddington, who worked on the film, Poor Things.
While the moment was focused on being comedic at its root, it appears some on X are wondering how the academy heads let this fly and Smith was hit with a decade-long ban from the festivities.
There are also folks online calling the moment for Cena a “humiliation ritual” as a part of whatever phantom Hollywood cabal’s initiation practices. We’ll leave that one alone for all the reasons one can imagine.
As it stands, Will Smith is trending on X, formerly Twitter, and we’ve got reactions to John Cena’s moment below.

Of course, Seth Rogen would have an incredible story to share following The Oscars.
Seth Rogen stopped by  Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, March 14 and revealed to late-night talk show host and host of this year’s Academy Awards that he smoked weed with Megan Thee Stallion and her “brother” at the Vanity Fair Oscars party.

That’s cool as hell, but there is only one thing, Megan Thee Stallion is an only child.
During the interview, the actor said the Houston rapper approached him to tell him that she thinks he and her brother would totally hit it off. The energy between Rogen and her “brother” was on point, but The Fablemen’s star admits confusion set in after learning Megan Thee Stallion is an only child.

“Someone backstage [tonight] told me that she doesn’t have a brother, so now I’m confused about this whole thing,” he said with his recognizable laugh. “I don’t know what I did that night, if I’m being honest.”
He continued, “Yeah, we really did hit it off, which is what’s unfortunate because [her brother] might not exist, from what I’m hearing,” revealing the two exchanged numbers telling Kimmel and his audience members he said, “Travis call me.”

For experts on all things Megan Thee Stallion, the man Rogen smoked weed with was Travis, a.k.a. T. Farris, Thee Stallion’s manager.
Megan Thee Stallion Is Back!
Speaking of Megan Thee Stallion, the “Savage” rapper used the Oscars to make her return to the spotlight after falling off the grid following her massive victory in the Tory Lanez shooting trial.
Our favorite hottie has been active on Instagram again, dropping some time-stopping photos of herself looking refreshed, in the best shape of her life, and unbothered.

The world is a better place when Thee Stallion is around.

Nobody got slapped at this year’s Academy Awards, but plenty of moments had Twitter talking. One of those moments involved Tems and her beautiful Oscars dress.

Tems had everyone saying WOW when she graced the Oscars champagne carpet on Sunday evening. Later that night, the Best Original Song nominee was hit with backlash because that dress was blocking the view of the attendees, particularly one woman sitting behind her.

Monday, the 27-year-old Grammy Award-winning artist had a playful response to all of the people who had something to say about her beautiful white Lever Couture dress.
In a Twitter post, the “Free Mind” singer wrote “Oops,” along with four beautiful photos of herself in the dress, just looking as fine as she wants. The dress’s standout feature was a structured veil wrapping around her shoulder, forming a halo above her head.

In an Instagram post sharing more photos of herself in the dress, she wrote in the caption, “Uh Ohh!”

Fans were here for Tems owning the moment. “Block their view!” one Instagram user wrote. “Block them love… They don’t deserve to see front,” another fan said.
“How can Tems block the view when she is the view — like,” one person on Twitter wrote.

Plenty of love was spread in Tems’ comment section on Twitter, but there were also people who felt the dress designer was inconsiderate by not making the veil removable.
“Imagine waiting your whole life to be at the Oscars, and you end up sitting behind a stratus cloud,” one person tweeted.
“She looks stunning, but perhaps they could have made the top bit detachable,” another Twitter user said.
Welp, it’s water under the bridge now.

Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors made sure to send love Angela Bassett’s way.
Following Angela Bassett’s loss or “snub,” her Black Panther co-star Michael B. Jordan and his new bestie and Creed III boxing partner Jonathan Majors came through with some support giving her a shoutout before presenting the Oscar for Best Cinematography.
For those who didn’t tune in or didn’t care to watch the 95th Oscar Awards, Bassett, who was heavily favored to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her stellar performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, didn’t do the thing losing out to Jamie Lee Curtis for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once adding to the film’s epic night.
Many also feel Jamie Lee Curtis’ co-star Stephanie Hsu was “snubbed” and should have taken home the Oscar.
Once Jordan and Majors hit the stage, the Creed III director said “Hey Auntie” to Bassett, a nod to the popular line from the first Black Panther film. Majors told the iconic actress, “We love you.”

Twitter, who was still in their feelings about the “snub,” did appreciate the moment from Jordand and Majors. “Some real gs. Those few words = a whole conversation understood by many of us. What’s understood doesn’t always need to be explained,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Michael B Jordan to Angela Bassett: Hey Auntie. Jonathan Majors to Angela Bassett: WE love you IM CRYING,” another user wrote.

Angela Bassett Has Not Said Anything About The Oscars Moment
Bassett has yet to comment on the night and whether or not she felt she was the victim of another snubbing. She didn’t bring home the gold statue for her brilliant performance in the Tina Turner biopic, What’s Love Got To Do With It.

Speaking with CBS Mornings earlier this month, she spoke about it, saying, “Of course, in the moment, you’re hoping and praying and wishing … but I don’t walk away thinking I’ve been robbed,” she said. “That’s too negative of an emotion to carry with me for the rest of my life.”
