The Joker

The Joker 2 hasn’t been in theaters for a full week yet and already it’s considered both a flop and an overall horrible movie, but is it the worst comic book movie of all time? Many people seem to feel so.

According to Variety, Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux has become the lowest rated comic book film of all time with a “D” score. With disasters out there like Ghost Rider 2, Madame Web and Morbius, that’s really saying something. Even before the $200 million flop hit theaters, reviews of the film were less than stellar with many panning the sequel as lame, uninspired and even unnecessary given the success of the first film, which earned a “B+” grade upon its release.

Still, Warner Bros. studio saw fit to green light a sequel to the first film as audiences wanted more of Joaquin Phoenix’s iteration of the Clown Prince of Crime, but unfortunately, turning it into a musical with Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn but having most of it in a court room and prison didn’t play out well with moviegoers. Now, everyone hates what Phillips has done with a promising franchise.
Variety reports:
“Folie à Deux” hasn’t received as many positive reviews as the first movie. Variety‘s chief film critic Owen Gleiberman wrote in his review, “’Joker: Folie à Deux’” may be ambitious and superficially outrageous, but at heart it’s an overly cautious sequel. Phillips has made a movie in which Arthur really is just poor Arthur; he does nothing wrong and isn’t going to threaten anyone’s moral sensibilities. In fact, he actually blows the only good thing that ever happened to him — winning the love of Lee’s Harley Quinn — because he denies the Joker in himself. He’s now just a singing-and-dancing puppet clown living in his imagination. Is that entertainment? Audiences, I suspect, will still turn out in droves to see ‘Folie à Deux.’ But when it comes to bold mainstream filmmaking, it’s the scolds who are having the last laugh.”
With a $40 million box office debut and more people slandering the film everyday, it’s safe to say that the film will end up a bust. Whether or not it’ll become a cult classic in coming years is anyone’s guess, but one things for certain, no one’s really f*cking with Joaquin Phoenix’s iteration of The Joker right now.

Diddy says he was banned from being The Joker by Warner Bros. after his costume last year, but he would troll the company by becoming The Batman for this year’s festivities.

Having a Halloween costume be so good that you’re prohibited from donning it again doesn’t seem like a real problem but for Diddy, it was. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday (October 30), the entertainment mogul was asked by the host what he planned to do for Halloween. “Last year, I was the Joker, and I actually got a letter from the studio that I can no longer be the Joker,” Diddy responded. When Kimmel asked why, he stated: “They said it broke their trademark, that I did it too good. I swear I have this letter. I swear to God. From Warner Bros.”

When Diddy dressed up as The Joker, his uncanny portrayal became one of the top stories of Halloween stopping everyone he came across in their tracks from Tyler The Creator to Power actor Michael J. Ferguson. Diddy actually showed off the letter on his Instagram. “This is six full papers right here, I’m not even going to show the business on the paper.” He then said he wouldn’t do it again, but ended the video off with a screen saying “Stay Tuned”.

“Well do it again, then. Do it again!”, Kimmel said with a laugh. “So tomorrow… Warner Bros. lawyers, can you see me?” Diddy replied. “Put this camera on right here. The head of legal: Tomorrow, watch what I do.”
True to his word, Diddy made the reveal on his Halloween costume for 2023, revealing to the world through his Instagram account that he would be The Batman. The clip shows him as “The Darkest Knight”, showing him driving the actual Batmobile from director Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy while purportedly putting an end to the strike between the writers and the Hollywood studios. His youngest daughter Love Sean Combs makes a cameo appearance in the clip at the end.

The world is getting its first sneak peak at one of the most anticipated movies in history. Lady Gaga has shared a visual from The Joker sequel.

As per People Magazine Lady Gaga might have the Instagram post of the week. On Tuesday, February 14 the songstress took to social media to share the first look at the second installment of The Joker series. In the photo she is seen holding Joaquin Phoenix by his throat in what seems to be a personal moment of  awe between the two. According to the press release the two are shown after a passionate kiss with her red lipstick smudge all over his face. The caption read “Folie à Deux”; which is the title to the sequel. The term is defined defined as “an identical or similar mental disorder affecting two or more individuals, usually the members of a close family.”

The “Bad Romance” singer will be playing Harley Quinn in the film. Margot Robbie, who first brought the character to life on the big screen in Suicide Squad showed her support to Lady Gaga in an interview with MTV News back in 2022. “It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor” she said.

Joker: Folie à Deux is slated for an October 2024 release.

For decades The Joker’s been one of the most eccentric, violent and interesting characters in Batman’s illustrious gallery of villains, but his latest storyline seems to be rubbing people the wrong way as the Clown Prince of Crime is set to become a daddy by turning into a mommy.

TMZ is reporting that in a new story for The Man Who Stopped Laughing, The Joker finds himself with child after a spell cast on him goes awry. The series follows the Joker through various subplots that sometimes aren’t even cannon in the DC universe. The latest tale might’ve pushed the envelope as many anti-LGTBQ comic book fans were outraged at the notion that the man could bare a child.

It dropped a few days ago, and people immediately noticed that writer Matthew Rosenbergand cartoonist Carmine Di Giandomenico concocted a tale about Joker wanting an heir, but one that was of his DNA. So, he starts to pursue female super wizardress Zatanna.

Of course, she wants nothing to do with the Joker … so she casts a spell on him that guarantees no one else will ever bare his offspring, but it backfires — making it so Joker gives birth all by himself, via vomiting as readers eventually find out. Along the way, the comic strip depicts him with a huge belly and getting checked on gynecologically.

It’s just a comic book, people. But of course for a while now far-right conservatives have been accusing liberals and “elitists” of pushing a pro-gay agenda on children to feminize boys and men and “groom” them. After introducing a gay Robin and bisexual Superman into the DC universe, this latest story only further propels the far-right’s conspiracy theory.
Though the Joker’s son was basically a mutated version of himself, many conservatives took to social media to slander DC for even conjuring up such a fable.

Well, at least the writers and artists of the story haven’t received any death threats as that’s become a calling card for far-right conservatives who get angered when they see progressive moves being made in society or pop culture.
