As Michael Jackson historically returns to the top 10 with “Thriller” and Kehlani gives Brandy her flowers, Billboard‘s chart experts break down the correlation between Grammy nominations and artists such as HUNTR/X, Alex Warren, Leon Thomas and more who have taken over the charts this year. Black Eyed Peas singer Taboo stopped by with his daughter to share what it was like to work in the studio with Jett on Dora, his thoughts on the Dodgers’ huge win, and their perspectives on the diversity of artists on the Hot 100.
What’s your prediction for next week’s No. 1? Let us know in the comments!
Tetris Kelly: Michael Jackson makes a holiday return to the charts as Taylor Swift still battles with KPop Demon Hunters for the No. 1 spot.
Taboo: The fact that we have multicultural representation on the top 100 from KATSEYE to Demon Hunters, the HUNTR/X, I love that.
Tetris Kelly: Hey, what’s up? And welcome to the Hot 100 Show. As you can see, I got my friend Taboo and his daughter, Jett, stopping by a little bit later, and we got a new top 10 entry on the chart. So let’s start by running it down. This is the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 for the week dated Nov. 15. After a Halloween surge, “Thriller” hits the top 10. Morgan stays at No. 9. “Mutt” moves up to No. 8. All right, we got a newcomer to the top 10 in MJ. I can’t say I was ready for that, but Halloween isn’t it?
Eric Frankenburg: Yeah, I don’t know if newcomer’s the word. “Thriller” was in the top 10 in 1984, but this is the highest it’s been since March of 1984 — it’s pretty incredible. You know, it returns to the chart every year for Halloween, but this year’s a whole different story. It’s in the top 10. And, yes, it’s just wild you know that it’s higher than it’s been in 41 years.
Xander Zellner: Yeah, it feels like it’s kind of becoming, like, the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” of the Halloween season, where, like, it started growing more and more each year, and this year, Halloween fell on a Friday. So like, now it’s in the top 10. It’s amazing.
Delisa Shannon: I can already imagine, like, AI versions of Michael Jackson going, “It’s time.” Like, I already know it’s coming. You said it, not me.

Kehlani makes her top 10 debut with “Folded,” while Justin Bieber’s “Daisies” and Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” continue to rise. Billboard‘s chart experts break down the new contender and whether Mariah Carey will come flying in to No. 1 anytime soon. We also took to the streets of L.A. and asked fans what they thought about the top 10 for this week.
Tetris Kelly: The battle between “Golden” and Taylor Swift stays tight as a new contender enters the top 10. It’s time, well, according to Mariah Carey and KATSEYE, but maybe not quite yet on the charts. More on that moment a little bit later. But for now, let’s jump into the top 10. This is the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 for the week dated Nov. 8. Still at 10 is Leon Thomas with “Mutt.”
Guest 1: So, “Mutt,” man, I feel like it’s so, like, relatable to our culture. I love it. It’s got, like, a lot of flavor in it. And the women, I love the women. So it gets you, you know, it gets you in there.
Tetris Kelly: Morgan also stays at No. 9.
Guest 2: I mean, I live in Texas, so everyone’s obsessed with Morgan Wallen. I kind of stay away from what everyone’s obsessed with.
Guest 3: I don’t listen to him. I’ve never been a country girl, but I know he’s big. I don’t actually think I’ve ever listened to a single song by him.
Guest 4: I never even heard of him. You wilding because I don’t know Morgan.
Tetris Kelly: “Elizabeth Taylor” falls to eight.
Guest 4: Music swiftly goes right by me. Oh, hey, she cute. Though, I bet if I heard it, I probably would like it, though.
Tetris Kelly: So not a lot of movement in the bottom of the chart, but I am happy to see Leon Thomas still hanging in there. How we feeling about the chart this week, guys?
Delisa Shannon: I mean, y’all know this, I love me some Leon Thomas, so to see him holding on, I mean, it’s just truly a testament to really pushing a song. I think that’s what we’ve seen time and time again on these charts, where we see a song that not only that the artist is really strong behind, but their fandom is really strong behind.

On this week’s episode of The Hot 100 Show, Billboard‘s chart experts break down the surge of “Mutt” and Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” into the top 10, as well as Justin Bieber’s “Daisies” and Morgan Wallen making their way back in after a Taylor Swift-filled chart. They also share their thoughts on why they think the popularity of “Golden” and “The Fate of Ophelia” continue to hold steady.
Tetris Kelly: We have a couple of new top 10s as we find out if “Golden” can defeat Taylor Swift. Welcome back to another week of our little countdown show, where we’re figuring out if Taylor Swift, “Golden” or who’s gonna be at No. 1. But guess what? We do got some new entries this week you’re gonna want to check out, and we might have predicted them in our contenders, so let’s run it down. This is The Billboard Hot 100 top 10 for the week dated Nov. 1. Leon Thomas hits the top 10 with “Mutt.”
Leon Thomas: I think “Mutt” definitely resonated with the culture so much because it has a lot of essence of P Funk, Bootsy Collins. I feel like post pandemic, everybody got into their little toxic energy. So it’s like perfectly toxic.
Tetris Kelly: Morgan is back with “I Got Better.” Olivia Dean arrives with “Man I Need.” I feel like this is a really interesting top 10 because some of our contenders have finally made their way in. Let’s start with Leon Thomas and “Mutt.” How you guys feeling about his top 10 debut?
Delisa Shannon: Oh, wow. I’m so excited as a Nickelodeon kid — this is a really big moment for me to be able to see Leon Thomas and to see the way that he’s been, I mean, building his craft ever since he picked up that guitar on Naked Brothers Band back in the day. To see how he’s been able to craft a sound, to see it be celebrated in this way. I’m super, super proud and so excited that we’re getting to see it crack the top 10.
Xander Zellner: Also, it’s like exciting, because he has been around for years, not just like on Victorious and on Nickelodeon, but like he was producing and writing songs for Drake and Ariana Grande and SZA’s “Snooze,” like he’s been writing songs for a while, but it’s exciting to see him actually have a song of his own in the top 10 for the first time. So big moment for him.
Trevor Anderson: And the song has been around for a long time, too. I mean, that song came out in August 2024.
