No one is immune to the Swiftie spell, not even two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Costner.
After seeing Taylor Swift perform at one of her SoFi Stadium shows in Inglewood, Calif., with his daughter, Costner took to Instagram to declare that he’s officially fallen into the Eras Tour concertgoer to certified Swiftie pipeline. “My videos are blurry, but I had an amazing time with my daughter at the @taylorswift show,” the actor wrote, captioning a trio of photos and videos of Swift onstage.
“I was absolutely blown away watching her art bring so many people together,” he continued. “I had a great view of her band and had a blast watching them, too. An inspiring night. I’m officially a Swiftie!”
The Bodyguard star was close to the side of the main stage, where he snapped videos of Swift singing “22” and “Don’t Blame Me.” In one picture he shared, thousands of fans in the audience could be seen with their light-up bracelets, glowing in tandem with the stage effects.
Costner — who is also the frontman for country rock band Kevin Costner & Modern West — isn’t the first star to attend an Eras Tour concert and come out of it a diehard fan of the “Anti-Hero” singer. Diplo shared that he’s a “motherf—ing Swiftie now” after catching a concert in Las Vegas, and former Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt raved about Swift after seeing her opening night in Glendale. “So much respect @taylorswift,” he wrote. “When your fans pay for a ticket, they are getting their money’s worth and some.”
The Yellowstone actor was one of dozens of celebrities to show face at one of Swift’s six concerts at SoFi, including Lupita Nyong’o, Meghan Markle, Brie Larson, Charlize Theron, Selena Gomez, Austin Butler, Mariska Hargitay, Jeff Goldblum and more. Stars such as Halsey, Sadie Sink, Anya Taylor-Joy and Karlie Kloss were at the pop star’s Wednesday (Aug. 9) finale show — which marked the end of the Eras Tour’s first U.S. leg — where they joined thousands of fans in witnessing Swift’s announcement that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will arrive Oct. 27.

Can you hear it? The sounds of seagulls squawking, Polaroid cameras clicking, New York City traffic buzzing? Your ears don’t deceive you: Taylor Swift‘s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is officially on its way, and Swifties are absolutely overjoyed.
Swift dropped the bombshell news Wednesday night (Aug. 9) toward the end of her sixth and final show in Los Angeles, where everyone from the pop star’s former best friend Karlie Kloss to All Too Well short film star Sadie Sink were in attendance. “Here we are on the last night of the U.S. leg of the Eras Tour in the eighth month of the year on the ninth day [of the month],” she teased the crowd leading up to the big announcement.
“There’s something that I’ve been planning for a really, really, really, ridiculously embarrassingly long time,” she continued. “And I think instead of just telling you about it, I think I just should sort of show you something.”
At that moment, the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) cover art flashed across the big screens, confirming that Swift’s fourth re-recorded project would be dropping Oct. 27, exactly nine years after it first came out in 2014. Afterward, she confirmed the news on social media. “To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane,” she wrote. “I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!”
The announcement comes only a month after Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) became Swift’s highest selling re-record in its first week, surpassing both Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version). Many Swifties were shocked by the quick turnaround with 1989, even as Swift teased the project throughout Wednesday night’s show by wearing new, all-blue outfits on stage. Some detective-like fans, however, had already pieced together Easter egg clues proving that the announcement was coming Wednesday night, long before Swift even took the stage.
Whether or not they saw the news coming, though, the overall consensus is pure excitement. “no one will understand what this album means to me and to release on oct 27 of all days,” one Swiftie tweeted. “my heart is so full. welcome home.”
“It’s a great day for annoying people (me),” joked another.

Selena Gomez and her little sister Gracie were spotted in the audience at Taylor Swift‘s recent concert in L.A., marking the sibling duo’s second time attending an Eras Tour show this summer.
In a video shared by Gomez on Instagram, she and her 10-year-old mini-me cuddle up close while swaying to the beat of “Lover,” one of the first songs Swift performs every night in her three-hour stage show. As Gracie tightly hugs her big sis, the “Lose You to Love Me” pop star sings along with Swift to the lyrics.
Gomez also shared a group photo with friends, taken from their seats on the floor of SoFi Stadium, as well as a post showing off her overflowing collection of friendship bracelets and thanking fans for trading them with her. “Another one..,” she captioned an additional snap of her Eras Tour outfit: a black Eras Tour hoodie, likely purchased at the last Swift concert she and Gracie attended.
The Only Murders in the Building actress first brought Gracie to the Eras Tour in April, with the two arriving to a show in Arlington, Texas in Swift-themed outfits. Gomez wore a Folklore cardigan, while Gracie sported a replica of the purple dress Swift wore on her Speak Now tour back in 2011.
That night, Gracie also got to have a special moment mid-show with her big sister’s best friend. Swift crouched down to gift Gracie with the black costume hat she was wearing while performing “22,” a favor Gracie returned by handing the “Anti-Hero” singer a handmade friendship bracelet.
“Thank you bestie for having me and my sissy transport into your mystical, euphoric and special world,” Gomez wrote on Instagram after the Texas concert. “Proud to know you! love you forever and always.”
Gomez is far from the only star to have turned up to one of Swift’s six straight shows at SoFi Stadium, with everyone from Brie Larson to Mindy Kaling, Lupita Nyong’o, Ashley Tisdale, Kesha, Alicia Keys and more celebs having all been spotted in attendance over the past few days. The first U.S. leg of the Eras Tour will officially conclude Wednesday (Aug. 9) following Swift’s final show at SoFi, after which she’ll take the bestselling trek global.
After stints in Latin America, Asia, Australia and Europe, Swift will return for a second leg in the States — so, who knows? Maybe Selena and Gracie will be spotted in the audience again soon.
Taylor Swift was definitely wonderstruck, blushing all the way home after her Tuesday (Aug. 8) concert. The pop star was left in awe in the middle of her fifth consecutive Eras Tour show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., when, following her performance of “Champagne Problems,” the crowd rewarded her with a nearly eight-minute standing ovation.
“What do I say to you after that?” Swift said in response to the applause, as captured in videos from the night. “That was so deeply abnormal and beautiful. I don’t know what to do or say.”
“I think it’s safe to say that I, like all people, will experience a certain amount of emotional downward spirals throughout the course of the rest of my life and in those moments, you can rest assured I’m gonna think about what you just did,” she continued, getting slightly emotional. “And I’m gonna feel better. So thank you. That was insane. It was crazy.”
The show marked Swift’s second-to-last night at SoFi Stadium, where she’s scheduled for a total of six nights, concluding the first U.S. leg of the Eras Tour. Starting Aug. 24, she’ll take the trek global with a slew of international dates in Latin America, Asia, Australia and Europe before returning to the states in 2024 for a second North American leg.
“I’m going to spend several decades trying to figure out words for how that just made me feel,” Swift added after the night five standing “O.” “I’m trying to get it together. I’ve completely lost control over my brain, and that’s your fault. I’m just gonna float through the rest of the show, so thanks for that.”
The first five nights at SoFi have been jam-packed with great moments, from the magical “Exile” singalong to the emotional mid-show hug Swift shared with Bianka Bryant, daughter of the late Kobe Bryant. Fans have been treated to some quality surprise songs over the course of the miniature residency — “I Can See You,” “Maroon,” “Our Song,” “You Are in Love,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “You’re On Your Own, Kid,” “Dress,” “I Know Places” and “King of My Heart” — and stars such as Lupita Nyong’o, Mindy Kaling, Brie Larson, Kesha, Gayle King and many, many more were in attendance.

At long last, Taylor Swift has arrived in Los Angeles for the final stop of her U.S. tour — or so fans thought.
Earlier on Thursday, August 3 — hours before the superstar would take the stage at SoFi Stadium — she announced a second leg of North American dates for 2024. The new dates include stops in Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis and Toronto. “Turns out it’s NOT the end of an era,” Swift wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
And as she made perfectly clear on the first of her six-night run in L.A., slowing down is simply not in the cards. Neither is performing the same show night after night, as evidenced by the addition of two surprise songs to each set list, which Swift says is a fun way to challenge herself to dig deep into her extensive catalog — while also keeping fans on their toes, creating a sort of “gotta catch ’em all” energy.
But on Thursday, there was an even greater buzz radiating throughout the packed stadium as 70,000 fans poured in, many of whom were eagerly discussing rumors that Selena Gomez may make an appearance or that the next Taylor’s Version could be announced on this very night.
That’s the thing about the Eras Tour: it’s safe to expect the unexpected.
As it turns out, neither rumor was true. And yet, Swift’s opening night was nothing short of magical and filled with firsts, like having never performed at SoFi before or selecting a surprise song that she has never played live. And thankfully, it was all captured by a cameraman following her every move on stage, filming for something, as Swift managed to kick her power and poise into an even higher gear.
The night also included stellar opening sets from Gracie Abrams, who will join Swift on her 2024 dates, and HAIM. Of the sister trio, Swift said: “Not only are these three individuals my besties, but they’re my favorite band,” also noting it was a hometown show for the rockers.
“We have a lot to catch up on, musically speaking,” Swift said later on. “I haven’t toured in five years before the Eras Tour; This is the last city on the U.S. leg and we knew we wanted to end someplace special.”
And that is was. Below are the best moments from Swift’s opening night in L.A.
HAIM’s Not-So-Surprise Guest Appearance
Flashback to her mistakes, her rebounds, her earthquakes. In another case of life imitating art (this time, the art being lyrics to Taylor Swift‘s 2017 Reputation track “Dress”), Swifties at the Eras Tour in Seattle last weekend danced so hard, they generated enough seismic activity to rival a low-grade earthquake. The discovery was found by Jackie Caplan-Auerbach, a geology professor at Western Washington University, who measured the “Swift-quake” at Lumen Field to be equivalent to a 2.3 on the magnitude scale.
“For Taylor Swift, I collected about 10 hours of data where rhythm controlled the behavior,” Caplan-Auerbach explained to CNN Thursday (July 27). “The music, the speakers, the beat. All that energy can drive into the ground and shake it.”
The findings called back to another incident at Lumen Field in 2011, when fans watching a Seattle Seahawks game went wild over an impressive touchdown by running back Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch. The rumblings from the game showed up on the same local seismometer as the activity from the Eras show, according to Caplan-Auerbach.
“The shaking was twice as strong as ‘Beast Quake,’” she added. “It absolutely doubled it.”
Comparing activity from the Saturday (July 22) show with the Sunday (July 23) show, Caplan-Auerbach shared that there wasn’t one crowd of Swifties that was discernibly more raucous than the other. Both groups danced equally enthusiastically, the only main difference being that the second show started about half an hour later than the first due to delays.
It wasn’t just scientists who noticed the record-breaking movement at the stadium, by the way. Even Swift was impressed by all the energy she greeted with, afterward writing on Instagram, “Thank you for everything. All the cheering, screaming, jumping, dancing, singing at the top of your lungs.”
The conclusion of the Seattle shows means that Swift has just one more state to visit on the U.S. leg of the Eras Tour, which she’ll wrap up with two performances at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., followed by six concerts at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. From there, she’ll embark on months of international shows, traveling through Latin America, Europe, Asia and Australia with support from Sabrina Carpenter and Paramore.
And even regardless of seismic activity, fans at the rest of those Eras Tour venues have a lot to live up to following Seattle. While onstage Sunday night, Swift doubled down on a diary entry she recalled writing during 2018’s Reputation Tour: “Seattle, Washington is the best crowd I have ever played for.”

She can’t even sing it with a straight face. Taylor Swift dusted off one of her best revenge songs at her Seattle Eras Tour show on Saturday (July 22), during which she had to take a pause to let out some maniacal laughter.
Singing “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” — which has long been rumored to be about her feud with Kanye West, now known as Ye, and Kim Kardashian — as the night’s surprise song, the 33-year-old pop star got all the way through to the bridge without stopping. Then, at the lyric “Here’s to you, ’cause forgiveness is a nice thing to do,” she paused playing completely, taking her hands off her guitar and letting out an uproarious “Ha!”
Swift then took a full 20 seconds to cackle, leaning on the microphone stand for support as the crowd at Lumen Field joined in on the laughter. “I can’t even say it with a straight face,” the singer-songwriter eventually resumed. “This is why we can’t have nice things!”
One fan video from the performance featured Swift’s mom, Andrea, singing along in the audience to the lyric, “Here’s to my momma, had to listen to all this drama,” which the “Anti-Hero” artist sings just before the big laugh.
To be clear, the laughter was all part of the performance and is even featured on the original track, released in 2017 as part of Swift’s Reputation album. But the Grammy winner did take a significantly bigger pause in the Saturday acoustic performance than she does on the recording.
While “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” is rumored to be about the rapper and his now ex-wife, it does contain what are probably the most incriminating lyrics tying the track back to their clash with Swift. “It was so nice being friends again/ There I was giving you a second chance,” she sings. “And therein lies the issue, friends don’t try to trick you/ Get you on the phone and mind-twist you.”
Ye and Swift first fell out in 2009 after the former notoriously stormed the VMAs stage upon the latter’s victory for best female video, taking the microphone and interrupting her speech to declare that Beyoncé should have won instead. Swift later penned “Innocent” about the Yeezy founder and the two reconciled, although things fell apart again in 2016 after Ye released his “Famous” single featuring the lyric: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that b—- famous.”
Kardashian proceeded to leak video footage of Ye telling Swift about the song before its release over the phone, but Swift maintained she was never made aware of the second half of that lyric, which she took issue with, saying on social media that the clip was “edited and manipulated.”
Flash forward to present day, and Swift is fresh off the release of her most successful Taylor’s Version re-recorded album yet, with Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) surpassing 715,000 album unit sales in its first week. She also has two more stops on the U.S. leg of her blockbuster Eras Tour — Santa Clara and Inglewood — before she’ll take the trek global.
Meanwhile, Ye recently lost his billionaire status, with many of his brand partnerships cutting ties following his antisemitic hate speech and endorsement of “White Lives Matter” earlier this year. Kardashian filed for divorce from Ye in 2021.
