Taylor Swift surprised fans at her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City, Mo., on Friday (July 7) by premiering the music video for her song “I Can See You.”
The action-packed visual for the Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) track finds Swift and actors Taylor Lautner, Joey King and Presley Cash pulling off a heist of her third album. “I Can See You” appears as one of the newly released re-recorded album’s “From the Vault” songs.
During Friday’s show at Geha Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Swift invited the three actors onstage to help introduce the video. Lautner delighted the sold-out audience by cartwheeling and backflipping onto the stage.
“WELL. SO. I’ve been counting down for months and finally the ‘I Can See You’ video is out,” Swift tweeted alongside behind-the-scenes photos from her self-directed video. “I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music.”

The singer continued, “I had my heart set on @JoeyKing, Taylor Lautner and @IAmPresleyCash starring in it. Joey and Presley had been in the video for ‘Mean’ when they were 9 and 13 and they are back and so ridiculously bad ass!! Taytay is INCREDIBLE in this (didn’t have a stunt double!) and shout out to Tay Lautner for being so awesome to hang with on set.”
Swift, who briefly dated Lautner in 2009, concluded her post by noting that she’s “always wanted to direct fight scenes/a heist storyline and had the most incredible time plotting this out.”
Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), the newly released re-recording of Swift’s 2010 album, also arrived on Friday (July 7). The new set features all of the original recordings, plus six “From the Vault” tracks.
Lautner shared some kind words about Swift following the debut of the video. “Taylor, I respect you so much. Not just for the singer you are, the songwriter, the performer, but for the human you are. You are gracious, humble, kind and I am honored to know you,” the actor said.
Elsewhere during Friday’s concert, Swift included a performance of “Long Live” to the Speak Now section of her show directly after “Enchanted.” She also played Speak Now song “Never Grow Up” and “From the Vault” track “When Emma Falls in Love” during the surprise songs portion of her set.

Taylor Swift took a moment to honor the dads in the crowd at her Eras Tour concert in Pittsburgh on Saturday (June 17).
During the surprise songs portion of her set at Acrisure Stadium, the pop superstar brought out special guest and collaborator Aaron Dessner for the first-ever performance of “Seven.” While introducing the 2020 Folklore track, Swift shouted out all the “amazing dads here” — including The National frontman — who brought their kids to The Eras Tour, in honor of Father’s Day on Sunday (June 18).
“I have a really, really incredible dad, like hasn’t missed a show type of dad. He’s the best and I love him so much,” Swift told the audience. “The song we’re going to play has to do with really fond memories of childhood.”
The singer added, “I know people have complicated relationships with their dad, or with the concept in general, but if you want to think of the people who have played a father figure role in your life, tomorrow and tonight. I’m really grateful for my dad — for anyone out there who spent hours and hours preparing to be at the show with their kid.”
Dessner previously joined Swift onstage during Eras Tour stops in Tampa Bay, Fla., and Nashville for surprise song performances of “The Great War” and “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve,” respectively.
Saturday’s show in Pittsburgh also found Swift confirming that her next official single will be “Cruel Summer,” from her 2019 Lover album.
“You guys have streamed ‘Cruel Summer’ so much right now in 2023” that Republic Records, the star’s label, “just decided to make it the next single.”
Billboard confirmed the news on Friday that Republic will officially start promoting “Cruel Summer” to pop radio stations as of Tuesday (June 20), while continuing to promote her Midnights single “Karma.”

For the third and final night of Taylor Swift’s Chicago outing — which took over Soldier Field and the surrounding South Loop area — the superstar pulled out all the stops.
On her first night in the Windy City, Swift celebrated the start of Pride month by sharing a special, and urgent, message to the sold-out stadium. “I’m looking out tonight, I’m seeing so many incredible individuals who are living authentically and beautifully and this is a safe space for you,” Swift said “This is a celebratory space for you.”
“One of the things that makes me feel so prideful is getting to be with you, and watching you interact with each other, and being so loving, and so thoughtful, and so caring,” she continued, later adding, “I wish that every place was safe and beautiful for people in the LGBTQ community.”
For her second night, she welcomed country star Maren Morris to the stage for one of her surprise songs, the live debut of “You All Over Me,” a From The Vault track included on Fearless (Taylor’s Version). Following the long-awaited moment, Morris posted a black and white photo of the pair on Instagram, writing: “We finally got to play ‘You All Over Me’ and I won’t ever be shutting up about it. Love you Taylor Swift and love you always, Chicago.”
As for the third night (Sunday June 5), two opening acts the city had yet to see took to the stage: Gracie Abrams and MUNA (lead vocalist Katie Gavin, who is from the Chicago suburbs, noted the specialness of a hometown show). And while Swift’s set featured minor hiccups — from a mic malfunction to a surprise mid-set snack (the accidental swallowing of a bug) — Swift handled such moments with humor and grace, only making them that much more memorable. And proving that even a superstar like Swift, who can perform to tens of thousands of fans night after night, is also, somehow, still relatable.
