Over the weekend, the Hip-Hop community was shocked when news began circulating that Young Scooter had passed away from a self-inflicted injury during a police chase in Atlanta. While specifics about the encounter were minimal at the time, more information is coming out about what led to the deadly incident.
According to TMZ, Young Scooter seems to be the latest victim of a “swatting” as someone called the police to his residence to disturb the man’s peace, only for it to lead to the man’s death on his 39th birthday. On Monday (March 31st), Atlanta police released audio of the 911 call they received the day of the incident, and in the cal,l a woman who said she was part of the “neighborhood watch” claimed to be witnessing a naked woman on Scooter’s premises being dragged out and fighting over drugs. The caller added that the woman was calling men over to shoot up the place and then stated that the woman was “bleeding profusely” from a head wound while being held hostage.
The caller also said that she always suspected that the residence was used for drug-dealing or prostitution, imploring police to go inspect the premises. That’s when things went awry.
Per TMZ:
There was also supposedly a child in danger — but when Atlanta police rushed the scene, they encountered NONE OF THAT … only someone who slammed the door in officers’ faces when they approached the front.
It was then Young Scooter, likely clueless to the 911 dispatch, fled from the back of the residence with another man … only to tear a femoral artery by jumping a fence as cops gave chase.
Officers never discovered a woman “bleeding profusely” … and Scooter eventually succumbed to his injuries at the Grady Marcus Trauma Center later that night.
No word on whether the police are going to investigate the call and track down the woman who made the call, but fans do want answers as to what prompted that call and how it all went horribly wrong.

Marjorie Taylor Greene received a visit on Christmas but it wasn’t from Santa. She says her home was swatted on the big holiday.
The Washington Post is reporting that the Rome, Ga. native was trolled on her day off. On the morning of Christmas, she took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to reveal her home was the subject of a swatting. The term refers to a prank call made to emergency services with an attempt to dispatch a SWAT team or large groups of armed patrol to a designated address.
To add more insult to injury the Republican Representative also shared that she received multiple death threats before leading up to Christmas.
“We received this death threat where this man is saying I will be shot in the head and skinned to make a ‘parasol,’ making a reference to Gein, who was a psychopath killer who would make things out of his victims’ skin,” she wrote. Marjorie Taylor Greene would later say that the suspect had yet to be apprehended.
Her day would continue to become even more problematic as she says eight more swatting attempts were made targeting her residence. To her surprise, the FBI is not allowed to track down the pranksters. Greene says she will be, “introducing legislation to track down swatters.”
Swatting has become an increasingly popular tactic for harassing notable figures. Back in August, Nicki Minaj was the victim of a swatting. Days later she would announce that there was a warrant out for the arrest of the alleged culprit.
According to Wikipedia swatting can be prosecuted via several federal criminal statutes including, “Threatening interstate communications” and, “Conspiracy to retaliate against a witness, victim, or informant.”

Nicki Minaj is in a lighter mood as she’s announced that someone who swatted her home now has a warrant out for their arrest.
According to reports, the Pinkprint rapper relayed the news to her fans in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Wednesday (Aug. 23). “Stephanie Bell,” Minaj wrote, naming the alleged troll. “A warrant is in the system. Great detective work. So grateful. The DA filed one count for the swatting call and one for the false report to DCFS. To God be the glory.”
Law enforcement officials did confirm that Bell is wanted for arrest on two charges of deliberately reporting a false emergency. The rapper had made another post on X earlier in the day, clowning the person: “To the woman who made those swatting calls to my home…#WasItWorthItDumbo ?”
The person allegedly identified as Stephanie Bell is accused of being responsible for the call made to 911 in July that claimed that someone had been shot at Minaj’s home in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The call led to police officers swarming her residence, ultimately determining that it was a false alarm. Prior to that, there was a call made to 911 the month before claiming that there was child abuse going on in the household, with the individual even going as far as to contact child services. The police were then tasked by policy to speak with the 40-year-old music artist and her husband, Kenneth Petty, and determined that there was no evidence of any abuse.
The rivalry between fans of Nicki Minaj and fans of Cardi B has fueled some of the animosity in the air leading to these incidents. Online fans of the “Bardi Gang” have gone to such lengths as creating and circulating a fake petition on Change.org targeting Petty and claiming that neighbors wanted him out.
