Stars from everywhere came through, from former president Joe Biden and J.Lo to our faves Nicole Ari Parker, Danielle Brooks, and Nia Long. They weren’t just there for the legendary Denzel Washington holding down the lead role, but also for Atlanta’s very own Kandi Burruss, who produced the show.

We were gagging at all of the style moments.

Rihanna took a flight back to her hometown of Barbados on March 11 to unveil her brand new FENTY x PUMA collection, which features three new exciting items, according to Complex.
The Bajan beauty was all smiles as she schmoozed with attendees at the release party wearing a pair of the FENTY x PUMA Avanti LS stitched sneakers, one of the new items offered within the buzzing line. Inspired by the PUMA King soccer cleat, the lime green and orange sneakers paired perfectly with the “Needed Me” singer’s oversized green and white baseball jersey and her two green ruffled chiffon skirts.
The mother of two topped off the look with a green bikini top, a beautiful bun, and a Sabyasachi necklace, WWD noted.
In one photo, the Grammy-award-winning artist could be seen embracing model and Savage X Fenty ambassador Serena Page, as a group of attendees clamored for photos of the duo. Rihanna—who hails from Bridgetown, Barbados—was also spotted letting her hair down to party with guests during the fun launch event.
What else can you purchase in the new collection?
Along with the Avant L sneakers, the new FENTY x PUMA collection will also include The Cat Cleat Jelly, a sandal made from synthetic leather and rubber. The bold shoe stands out with its vibrant design and soccer-inspired cleats on the outsole, paired with vibrant colors native to Rihanna’s hometown of Barbados. The collection will also feature the Pocket Bag, crafted from polyurethane and cotton. The tiny and sleek bag offers a slim profile and is enhanced with contrast piping for added dimension.
Items from the collection range between $75 to $120 and it will officially drop on March 13.
This isn’t the first time Rihanna has returned to her home country.
In November 2021, the Fenty Beauty founder visited Barbados when she was honored as a national hero in Bridgetown. The prestigious award was presented during a historic moment as the country celebrated becoming a republic after nearly 400 years of British colonial rule.
Prime Minister Mia Mottley awarded Rihanna the National Hero of Barbados title in front of a cheering crowd, recognizing her remarkable achievements in both music and the beauty industry.

While the release of Beyonce’s niche-busting album of the year “Cowboy Carter” drummed up fanfare around Black cowboy fashion, the culture around wide-brimmed hats, denim, pointed-toe leather boots, and ass-less chaps runs as deep as this country’s history.
Black cowboys were crucial in building 19th-century wealth for white Texan southerners. In the early 1800s, Texas was still Mexican-ruled territory, but white Americans migrated West, seeking affordable land to settle and establish cotton farms and cattle ranches. Even though slavery was illegal in Mexico, Southern whites brought the enslaved with them anyway. By 1825, enslaved people made up 25 percent of Texas’ population, according to The Smithsonian. Texas entered into U.S. statehood at the end of 1845.
As the civil war ripped the country at its seams from 1861 to 1865, white Texans left their land to fight for the confederate South. Black enslaved hands were left behind to handle and maintain the cattle-herding. The work was gritty, and included duties like breaking in horses (training wild horses to be ridden), lassoing-up herds, and transporting cattle through unforgiving terrain. Even though Black Americans were freed when the Emancipation Proclamation was signed into law in 1863, White settlers, unwilling to give up the free labor that sustained their businesses, didn’t enforce the legislation. Two years later, on June 19, 1865, General Gordon Granger informed 250,000 Texans who were still enslaved that they were free, which is the day we now celebrate as Juneteenth. As former white enslavers scrambled to maintain their land and livestock without the help of forced, unpaid laborers, skilled Black cowboys were in high job demand. Historians estimate 1 in 4 cowboys were Black, and even though their influence has often been discredited by mainstream culture, music artists have rode alongside them to keep their legacy alive.
Music And Fashion Of The South
Source: George De Sota / Getty
Black cowboy fashion penetrated mainstream culture as big Southern stars gained popularity in America in the 20th century. Georgia-born Ray Charles rocked a cowboy hat during performances of his country songs, The Guardian reports, and other iconic artists, like Otis Redding and Curtis Mayfield, accompanied their music with cowboy stylings. The video for The Gap Band’s single, “Burn Rubber On Me,” featured the group in denim and cowboy hats.
In 2001, while promoting their highly anticipated comeback album Survivor in New York City, Destiny’s Child rocked cobalt blue, tasseled midriff-bearing bralettes, accented with sparkling silver cowboy hats with matching boots (pre-Renaissance era). The women stood strongly together as a newly formed trio, and they let their music and fashion choices do the talking: not only were they still standing, but they were also still insanely talented, country, and Texas AF.
Fast forward, Beyonce’s solo career has continued to be an extension of her Texas roots, with Cowboy Carter triggering an emergence of cowboy fashion into the Black cultural zeitgeist. Hip-hop artists, like Swae Lee, are known to don steel-toe boots during rap performances, and Lil Nas X’s hip-hop, country, genre-blending hit, “Old Town Road” had the whole world rocking gallon-hats with pride.
Beyonce’s upcoming, highly-anticipated Cowboy Carter tour is sure to set off another wave of cowboy fashion obsession, as thousands of fans flock to stadiums all over America in their country’s best. Their fits, whether it’s a white-fringed blouse or a bold-buckled brown-leather belt, are a symbolic bow to the past.

Nike and Tom Sachs are back on good terms, which means a crispy pair of sneakers. The latter, dropped a couple of photos of the forthcoming NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0 which is guaranteed to be one of the most hyped—and likely difficult to acquire (for retail price)—sneakers of the year, already.
Source: Nike / Complex
However, you can’t gloss over the fact Sachs—a renowned but controversial contemporary artist—and Nike were recently on the outs after allegations of his abuse behavior toward employees began to surface in early 2023. At the time, Sachs and Nike were in the midst of pushing the NikeCraft General Purpose Shoe, which came to a quick halt after the allegations and just several colorways were released. Although the model (which sported a more democratized purchase process that meant easier access and more pairs) was paused, Nike never completely severed ties with Sachs, taking a wait and see approach, and officially resuming their partnership in late 2024. “Tom has demonstrated and recommitted to fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity,” said Nike in a statement at the time.
As far as we can tell, Sachs’ hasn’t generated any new troubling headlines, and he’s back in official business with the Swoosh, and the NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0 is set to drop in September per his Instagram post. At first glance, the sneaker itself doesn’t look like a radical departure from the Mars Yard 2.0 (which dropped in 2012 and 2017) but it is more like an optimization. Some of those updates include Nike’s React cushioning in the midsole, a black TPU toecap and a carbon fiber plate.
The Mars Yard 2.0 from 2017 was a smooth $200 (and fetches $1600 on StockX at the moment) so you can probably expect the 2025 version to be at least a bit pricier. Good hunting—we suggest you call up your sneaker plug not now but right now.

Super Bowl LVIII was jam-packed with exciting moments that will live rent-free in our heads for an extended period. While the game is centered around the actual sporting event (congrats to the Philadelphia Eagles for their 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs), the fashion is what we come to see. From Kendrick Lamar’s riveting performance in swaggy Celine flare jeans to Serena Williams’s chic halftime cameo, Super Bowl LVIII did not disappoint.
Kendrick Lamar and His Flare Jeans were the Moment
Since the announcement was made that Kendrick Lamar would headline the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show, fans were giddy with anticipation for his performance, hoping he would bust out with his popular diss track, “Not Like Us.” Not only did the Compton, CA native boldly execute his now-historical track, but he also made a fashion statement for the men with his Celine flare jeans that proved the rapper is not only a style risk taker, but it also showed that men can venture outside of their usual masculine regalia- and it works. Lamar paired his statement jeans with a custom Martine Rose jacket and Nike DT Max 96 sneakers.
According to Google Trends data, searches for bell bottoms soared by 2,292%, and “flare jeans” searches jumped by 438%. Kendricks look which consisted of a varsity jacket also saw a spike in searches by 197%.
Serena Williams’ Snazzy Cameo
The world wasn’t ready for Serena Williams’ surprise appearance during Super Bowl LVIII halftime, but it was everything we needed! The champ lit up the stage C—walking in a blue Nike skirt set that consisted of a cropped jacket and a tennis skirt. Her textured tresses added the pizazz to her cool outfit as she bounced around on the stage, giving Black Girl magic.
Williams’ hairstylist, Angela Meadows, went the extra mile to ensure the mogul’s hair was spotlight-ready and that every strand stayed in place as she bounced around the stage. “We wanted a statement style that would be a showstopper for Serena’s surprise dance moment with Kendrick Lamar but also hold up against the wind and possible humidity of New Orleans for the big game. The game changer was Wella Professionals Ultimate Smooth Miracle Oil Serum that set the whole look keeping the curls in place without any frizz!” said Meadows.
SZA’s Custom Performance Look
SZA sizzled on the stage with Lamar in a custom Born x Raised red leather work shirt embroidered with “Lana” (from the deluxe version of SZA’s SOS album) and a “CRYBABY” leather jacket also by the brand. The singer complemented her outfit with a custom leather and fur belt by Luis Cendejas and custom Converse shoes.

Even decades after his untimely passing The Notorious B.I.G. continues to influence fashion. Versace’s newest eyewear campaign is inspired by the later rapper’s signature shades.
As per High Snobiety, the Italian luxury brand has launched a new collection of lenses inspired by The Notorious B.I.G.’s go-to sunglasses. Aptly called the “Biggie,” these frames replicate the pair that Big Poppa frequently wore during his career. In the “One More Chance” video he is spotted wearing the Versace 424 Col 852 model and the Versace 413A model in the “Hypnotize” video. He would also be frequently seen with the Versace T75, which did not feature the label’s Medusa emblem but rather the Greca branding on the temples.
Donatella Versace explained the brand’s approach to the new collection in a statement. “From Notorious B.I.G. to the extraordinary talent of today, the Biggie community are rebels, groundbreakers, and champions of the true Versace spirit,” she said. Versace has enlisted the talents of musician Sabrina Carpenter and NBA center Alexandre Sarr to bring the new collection to life. Included in the this drop are new color ways, both for sun and optical purposes. The Washington Wizards taken explained why working with Versace on the rollout made so much sense to him. “I’ve seen Biggie sunglasses worn by everyone — my NBA teammates, friends I’ve made across the globe, business guys and kids playing basketball in the yard. Biggies are for anyone who wants to give and take a bit more from life.”

Celebrating Black Brands
The fits the “Kash Kommandments” rapper and her mini-me wore were created by Nichole Lynel. Lynel went from an it girl to a fashion designer and author. These snowsuits have an adorable name. Lynel named the outfits Baby It’s Snowing Outside Snow Suit and the Baby It’s Snowing Outside Baby Snow Suit.
The baby version of the snowsuit is available for babies as young as 6 months old and they go up in size up to a 4T. The coppery bronze shade Kash Doll and Klarity were wearing is not the only option. The suits are also available in a bold metallic hot pink.
They are waterproof and completely cover the body to keep the wearer warm and snug. As a bonus? They have deep pockets and cute belts.
Lynel’s bold pieces are a favorite of fashionistas. She started out with just clothes and has expanded to accessories, shoes, swimwear, and outerwear.
