NFL fans seem to have mixed feelings about all the coverage Taylor Swift and Travis Kelceâs relationship is getting across various sports broadcasts, but Thursday Night Football announcer Al Michaels is all for it.
âWe love it, man,â Michaels told Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Swift attended last weekâs Thursday night game between Kelceâs Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos, once again making headlines for sharing a suite with Travisâ mother, Donna Kelce, and hugging Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
âWe had to be judicious,â Michaels told Kimmel about figuring out how best to address Swiftâs presence on the Prime Video broadcast. âWe had the game last Thursday night in Kansas City. We knew sheâd be there. So how much do you show her? Sheâd been on twice, and football fans were going, âEnough.â But we were praying sheâd come into the booth and sing for us,â he said with a laugh.
Kimmel played a clip of Michaels fumbling his words while trying to describe Swift on the broadcast, as he settled on calling her Kelceâs âgood buddy and girlfriend.â
âSo is she his good buddy or his girlfriend, Al?â Kimmel said, ribbing the announcer. âYou canât be both!â
âYou know, youâre doing a game like that, I know the Internetâs gonna blow up,â Michaels said. âPage Six is waiting for whatever I say. You know what I really wanted to say? âFiancee.â I didnât because I figured Travis would beat me up at the end of the game. ⌠Or [Swift] would have beat me up.â
In the end, Michaels and company wanted to make sure football came first in the broadcast. âItâs hard because people tune in to watch a football game,â he said. âIâm not doing Access Hollywood.â
Following Thursdayâs game, Swift and Kelce confirmed their long-rumored relationship by attending the Saturday Night Live afterparty over the weekend hand-in-hand. (Find a full timeline of their relationship so far here.)

Lance Bass made sure that no one at the Cowboys-Chargers game on Monday (Oct. 16) got their expectations too high. After SoFi Stadium alerted the crowd that a star was in the midst and showed the *NSYNC band member on its jumbotrons, Bass held up a sign clarifying that he wasnât one of the NFLâs most famous recent guests: Taylor Swift.
âNot Taylor Swift,â read Bassâ handwritten sign, which he held up to the cameras as he waved to the thousands of fans in attendance.
The singer shared a video of the moment on Instagram, showing how SoFi played his bandâs iconic song âBye Bye Byeâ over the speakers. âIn case anyone was confused,â he captioned the post. â#LookWhatYouMadeMeDo #GoChargers ! #NotTaylorSwift #MNFâ
Bassâ sign poked fun at the pop culture craze surrounding Swiftâs romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, with whom she was photographed twice holding hands over the weekend in New York City. The âAnti-Heroâ singer has shown up to three of Kelceâs games so far, and is often shown by NFL cameras sharing a box suite with the athleteâs mom, Donna Kelce.
And while there are millions of Swifties who would love to see the pop starâs face appear on jumbotrons at any given NFL game, many of Bassâ fans assured him that theyâd be just as excited to see him in the stands. âHonestly I would be more excited at seeing Lance Bass then Taylor swift đ¤Łâ commented one fan.
âLanceâŚyouâre the Taylor Swift of 20 years ago,â added another.
In fact, Swift just might be one of those fans. In September, she gushed over her love for *NSYNC at the VMAs after the band reunited onstage to present her with an award. âI had your dolls,â the âKarmaâ musician told the guys. âLike, are you doing something? Whatâs going to happen now ⌠Theyâre going to do something and I need to know what it is!â
Soon after the awards show, Bass, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone announced plans to release their first full-band song in 20 years. âBetter Placeâ arrived Sept. 29 as part of the soundtrack for Trolls Band Together, which aptly focuses on a boy band reunion.

The 2023 WNBA Finals was thought to be a slugfest between two elite squads that would potentially go for the entire length of the series. However, the defending champion Las Vegas Aces are up 2-0 in their best-of-five series against the New York Liberty after a lopsided win on Wednesday (October 11).
Led by AâJa Wilson, who notched a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds, the Aces routed the Liberty 104-76 despite hope that New Yorkâs star players would likely bounce back from the Game 1 loss on Sunday (October 8). As it stands, the Aces are one game away from repeating as the WNBA champions and would be the first team since the 2001-02 Los Angeles Sparks to win back-to-back titles.
Aces head coach Becky Hammon expressed admiration for her teamâs execution and play in toppling the Liberty with relative ease.
âThe character of this team and their absolute buy-in to the person to the left or rightâs success is authentic,â Hammon said in a postgame press conference as reported by the Associated Press. âAnd itâs tough to deal with when you share the ball and people are skilled and competitive. They were good tonight. They donât leave me speechless very often, but they executed defensively, offensively shared it â everything weâve been asking them to do.â
Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello congratulated the Aces on their win.
âVegas is playing their best basketball at the moment,â Sandy Brondello said. âTheyâre playing with a lot of confidence, you see the chemistry that they have. And for us, we havenât taken the steps forward, we havenât shown it. Weâre disappointed, very disappointed, because weâre a way better team [than] what we showed.â
Game 3 of the WNBA Finals heads back to New York on Sunday (October 15) with the Liberty hoping to extend the series and snatch back momentum. To do so, the team will need more heavy lifting from stars Jonquel Jones, Sabrina Ionescu, and Breanna Stewart.
