Kelly Rowland is taking a moment to shout out her fans for always defending her.
During a Wednesday interview on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning With Laura Stylez and Rosenberg, Rowland was asked by Peter Rosenberg how it felt being compared to Beyoncé while in and out of Destiny’s Child.

“Everyone who gets into the entertainment business gets into it to be the man,” Rosenberg said to Rowland. “It does take an ego check, and you happen to be standing next to the brightest light on planet Earth. You think Big Boi from Outkast has it tough being next to André [3000]? You’re with Beyoncé, and not only did you not fight it, it seems like you really embraced the position that you were in and took it seriously.”

Rowland had the perfect response, telling Rosenberg: “Here’s the thing. Light attracts light. I am light, so I am a beautiful brown shining light, so I don’t think anybody’s light dims anyone else’s. I think that when other people start to compare you, I think that that’s when it shows you how dim they are of themselves. So I don’t take somebody else trying to dim my light anymore for anybody else. I love Bey, I know that she’s a light, but I know that I’m a light too.”

Rosenberg added: “It’s also created such an interesting role for you. You could have rested on your laurels and just been like, ‘Hey, I’m part of this iconic group. My best friend is the biggest star in the world. We kick a–, we’re awesome.’”

“And her best friend-slash-sister is one of the big stars in the world too. People only see things one-sided … we both shine together,” Rowland replied, explaining that there is a place for several Black women at the top of the game. “Now everybody is starting to take the hit of and starting to believe this thing where … ‘Only one woman can do this and they shine the biggest.’ My sister has knocked down doors and made positions for so many women that look like her, that are a deeper shade than her, but specifically for Black women and put Black women in other places we’re grateful for. But also somebody else did that for her, and another group has done that for us. And I do it for other brown girls, so it’s a cycle and a space for all of us to open up doors for each other instead of compare. Don’t be so limited.”

Following the interview, Rosenberg faced several negative comments via social media about his questions to Rowland, with many highlighting the singer’s talents outside of being in a group alongside Beyoncé. Once Rowland caught wind of her fans defending her online, she tweeted on Thursday (Nov. 17), “Have The most amazing day Twitterville!!! Thank you all for your Love & support!  I know ya’ll got my back! And that made me do a happy dance this am! Let me see your happy dance!! Here’s mine!”

Rosenberg later tweeted out a personal apology to Rowland for his words on the program. “I messed up. Sorry @KELLYROWLAND … wasn’t remotely my intention but intentions don’t always matter. I will take the L,” he wrote, adding that he will “still [be] playing Nelly and Kelly at my wedding.”

Kelly called him out to his face & he still didn’t get it. Even, Marsai Martin caught it. Outside of Destiny’s Child, Thee Kelly Rowland is an international superstar, actress, author & businesswoman! The whole asking Kelly Rowland about Beyoncé is absolutely old and I need journalists and hosts to reallly get a grip and start asking Kelly about Kelly!— 𝐑𝐢𝐚𝐧-𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬💥 (@ratedRIAN) November 16, 2022

I want hosts to find another angle when interviewing Kelly Rowland. We’ve witnessed the “second fiddle to Beyoncé” storyline for decades and it’s honestly redundant and highlights a lack of creativity when approaching interviews with someone over 20 years deep into their career https://t.co/qD6g7fpbNF— Nicolas-Tyrell Scott (@iamntyrell) November 16, 2022

You know what’s funny to me is I don’t know anyone else who’s wasn’t the lead in there group who is a successful as Kelly Rowland my sister always has always been booked regularly and looks the exact same way she did in 01 glad she got him together! https://t.co/Fq4qqcFlB3— Cocolo Minaj (@evilrashida) November 17, 2022

Not many people can say pop star Lizzo gifted them a personal item from her wardrobe, but Aurielle Marie — writer of Gumbo Ya Ya, Georgia Author of the Year, Out 100 honoree and a major Lizzo fan — can.

In an Oct. 27 TikTok posted to her account, Marie made a plea to Lizzo and asked to borrow her 2022 Emmys dress so she could have something wear to the Out 100 event, otherwise she would likely skip out on attending entirely.

“I know you know how it feels to be the biggest b—h in a room, and all of the scrutiny and hyper-visibility that comes along with that because I’ve watched you talk about it,” she said in the video, later adding, “I know you a girl for the girls, and I’m a girl and a girl, and I just need to know. I gotta ask. Can I please, please, please wear your dress from the 2022 Emmys?”

Though a few weeks went by without updates from Marie, a surprise showed up to her door on Tuesday (Nov. 15) — the author posted a video of her running downstairs to open a box from Lizzo. While the garment was not Lizzo’s 2022 Emmys dress, Marie promptly tried the gown from the box and burst into tears. (The dress Marie received was the stunning ruffled one Lizzo wore to the American Music Awards in 2019.)

“I might’ve gotten a few tears on your dress Lizzo, my bad babe. Words don’t suffice and thank you isn’t enough. But THANK YOU! I’m speechless,” Marie captioned the Nov. 15 video. “Ya’ll! A b—h is certified LIZZO-SIZED! And look at this gown! Out Magazine, here I come!”

Lizzo has yet to comment on Marie’s post, but she’s gearing up for an awards ceremony of her own — the singer was nominated for six awards at the 2023 Grammy Awards, including album of the year for Special and song and record of the year for “About Damn Time.”

“I am beyond grateful for the day you were born. Happy birthday to the husband of my dreams, my soulmate @travisbarker you have changed my life forever,” she captioned the series of snaps, which featured her in a black corset top and matching underwear while her husband wore a white tank and sparkling black fringe pants.

The Blink-182 drummer hopped in the comments and replied, “My soulmate, I love you forever” with a simple red heart emoji.

The Poosh founder was not the only one in her family to wish Barker a happy birthday — her sisters Kim and Khloé both posted well wishes to the rock star via their Instagram Stories on Monday.

Kim shared a photo of her with the Barkers enjoying time at the beach together and captioned the Story post, “Happy birthday Trav!!!!! I hope you are celebrating and doing something you will never forget!” Meanwhile, Khloé wished Barker a happy birthday along with snaps of him with Kourtney from their wedding. “I wish you a lifetime of love with my Kourt. Thank you for all the love and happiness you share with us all,” the Good American founder wrote, adding in later Story posts, “The beginning of many more years of love and blessings” and “Cheers to the best dad out there.”

Even the drummer’s mother-in-law couldn’t help but chime in on the birthday love. Kris Jenner shared a series of family photos to her Instagram account with a very kind message attached.

“Happy birthday to my son in law @travisbarker,” she wrote. “You are the most amazing dad, stepdad, husband, uncle, son, and friend! You are so kind, thoughtful, generous, creative, talented, and I’m so happy to have you as part of our family! You make @kourtneykardash so happy and I love you and appreciate you and hope you have the most amazing day ever!!!”

And they said, “Speak now!” Taylor Swift sent Swifties running wild across social media on Tuesday (Nov. 1) with speculation that her announcement of The Eras Tour contained more clues to Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) being on the way.

Interestingly, the pose the superstar strikes on the colorful poster for her upcoming stadium tour mirrors the cover art for Speak Now‘s lead single “Mine,” all the way down to her long flowing locks, spaghetti strap dress and glance at the camera from over her left shoulder.

However, a more obvious hint came in Swift’s own caption to the announcement on social media, where she wrote, “I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!)” with a reference to Speak Now album cut “Enchanted.”

Capitol One — also known as the official partner for the tour — also added to the theories by tweeting, “Warning: Mastermind moves in progress” with three purple squares and two white ones in response to a fan’s reaction to Tuesday’s announcement. “She wouldn’t?????? Announce Speak Now TV?????? During the World Series?????? Would she????????” another Swiftie then tweeted, pointing out that the Phillies and Astros have now played three of their five games, possibly signified by the three purple squares.

It’s worth noting that plenty of Swifties also took notice that their queen seems to re-litigate her Speak Now-era drama with John Mayer on Midnights track “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve.” (On the bonus cut, the singer promises “I damn sure never would’ve danced with the devil at 19” — the same age she famously references in scathing Speak Now confessional “Dear John.”)

Check out some of the best fan theories about Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) below.

We’re 100% getting speak now tv before the tour starts— Have you seen MAStermind is doing this again! (@samisntokay) November 1, 2022

I feel guilty even thinking about a new Taylor Swift album like that woman literally just released a brand new album three days ago and I don’t want to expect anything more from her or not seem grateful or excited for what we have but… I think Speak Now TV in December. 😭— Meet Sav at Midnight 🌙🕰 (@SavLovesSwift) October 25, 2022

Love is in the air between Kourtney Kardashian and her Blink-182 drummer husband, Travis Barker. Barker recently took to Instagram on Thursday (Oct. 27) to dote over his wife as she appeared to sit nude in bathtub photos.

In the first photo, Kardashian appears to pose with Barker Wellness body oil. In the second photo, the reality star sits in a bathtub engulfed by bubbles, showcasing her legs and feet. In the third flick, Kardashian only shows off her legs and feet with Barker Wellness bath flakes visible.

“My wife @kourtneykardash has angel feet,” Barker captioned the post before adding a shout out to their own personal brand, Barker Wellness, a vegan wellness company. The post garnered over 250,000 likes from Barker’s followers.

“My obsession with taking baths, wellness, and taking care of my body has led me to this collaboration — and I could not be happier with how the products turned out,” Kardashian said of their joint wellness brand in a press release. “Kourtney and I live and love health and wellness,” Barker added. “Creating products we love and need to help with recovery and wellness is fun to share with the world.”

Barker and Kardashian’s relationship dates back to Valentine’s Day in 2021. The pair then got engaged in October, with the two having a “practice” wedding with Barker in Las Vegas.

Sources confirmed to Billboard at the time that the Vegas ceremony was all for fun and a photo op for the couple. The duo officially tied the knot in mid-May during a small ceremony in Santa Barbara, Calif. “Till death do us part,” the two captioned photos from the celebration.

Then on May 22, Kardashian and Barker said “I do” yet again during a luxury ceremony in Portofino, Italy surrounded by close family and friends. “Happily ever after,” Kardashian and Barker captioned photos on Instagram of them kissing at the altar. (Photos of Kardashian and Barker from their luxurious Italian wedding ceremony are on their Instagram accounts here and here.)

A decision has been made: The members of BTS will be fulfilling their duty and performing mandatory military service in South Korea, a move that will leave the K-pop group unable to perform with all seven members until 2025, BigHit Music announced on Monday (Oct. 17). After the big announcement, distraught BTS ARMY members shared their dismay and and wished the group — which consists of members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook — well before they officially enlist.
“Let’s pray for Bangtan’s safety when they enlist,” a concerned fan wrote. “Pray they will be treated fairly and with respect. Hope they will be able to get by, & even if they don’t publicly communicate, I hope they can call their loved ones. I also hope they’ll be together once there! I mean even if they don’t see us or be able to communicate with us, as long as they have each other, we will be relieved.”

Another fan echoed the sentiment, and encouraged those who practice a faith to consider extending their prayers to BTS. “Religious Army please get together and pray for BTS’ safety for when they leave to fulfill their military duties and will be away from the public eye for a long time, pray for their safety and security at all times, that everything will go smoothly for them all throughout,” the fan wrote.

Elsewhere online, BTS fans expressed disbelief in the military service announcement, with one writing, “pretending that this whole bts coming back till 2025 from serving in the military is a fever dream and they will be back in a week.”

Unfortunately for ARMY, BTS’ military service is now a sure thing. According to BigHit’s statement, “Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October. He will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Korean government. Other members of the group plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans.” The statement also added that the group will reconvene around 2025, after each members’ respective drafts are over.

In the meantime, Jin is next up for solo endeavors, and announced plans for a new track to arrive sometime soon. At the group’s Yet to Come concert in Busan, South Korea, on Oct. 15, Jin told fans in attendance he “got the opportunity to work with someone I like, so a single will come out soon.” The new material will make Jin the second BTS member to debut a solo project after J-Hope.

Kanye West is offering to buy right-wing friendly social network Parler shortly after being booted off Twitter and Instagram for antisemitic posts.

Parlement Technologies, which owns the platform, and West, legally known as Ye, said the acquisition should be completed in the fourth quarter, but details like price were not revealed. Parlement Technologies said the agreement includes the use of private cloud services via Parlement’s private cloud and data center infrastructure.

Ye, was locked out of Twitter and Instagram a week ago over antisemitic posts that the social networks said violated their policies. In one post on Twitter, Ye said he would soon go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE,” according to internet archive records, making an apparent reference to the U.S. defense readiness condition scale known as DEFCON.

Ye is no stranger to controversy, once suggesting slavery was a choice and calling the COVID-19 vaccine “the mark of the beast.” Earlier this month, he was criticized for wearing a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt to his collection at Paris Fashion Week.

The potential purchase of Parler would give Ye control of a social media platform and a new outlet for his opinions with no gatekeeper.

“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” Ye said in a prepared statement.

The acquisition could also breathe new life into Parler, which has struggled amid competition from other conservative-friendly platforms like Truth Social. Parler, which launched in August 2018, didn’t start picking up steam until 2020. But it was kicked offline following the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. A month after the attack, Parler announced a relaunch. It returned to Google Play last month.

“This deal will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech,” Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer said in a prepared statement.

JoJo Siwa has officially moved on from her back-and-forth with Fuller House actress Candace Cameron Bure — not because of a reconciliation, but because enough time has passed to let bygones be bygones.

Speaking with E! News this week, the Dance Moms alum gave some clarity on her status with Bure.

“I’ll be honest,” Siwa told the outlet. “I haven’t spoken to her at all since the whole thing. I think she’s alive and thriving. I think I’m alive and thriving.”

In fact, the 19-year-old says she’s been embroiled in a few other issues that have allowed her to move past the drama. “We’re…civil? I don’t know … I’ve got like three problems since that one, so we’re moved on.”

Siwa and Bure’s feud started in July when Siwa revealed that Bure was the rudest celebrity she ever met in a TikTok challenge video. After Siwa’s comments went viral, Bure explained her actions in a video posted to Instagram, blaming the chaos of the red carpet for not taking a photo with a then-11-year-old Siwa.

In the video, Bure also told her followers that she and Siwa talked through their issues on the phone, but on July 28, Siwa spoke to Page Six and claimed Bure “didn’t share all of the details of the meeting.” She added, “It was at the afterparty that she didn’t wanna take a picture with me, and I was OK with that. But then I turned around, and when I looked back, she was taking pictures with other kids.”

Despite Siwa calling the actress out for not including certain details on social media, she did note that Bure apologized to her. “It was sweet,” she told Page Six of their phone call. “She apologized and we talked and it was cool.”

Blink-182‘s Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge announced their plans earlier this week to reunite for a brand-new album and a world tour, leaving fans to wonder the fate of Matt Skiba.

The Alkaline Trio frontman filled in for DeLonge and became an official member of the band in 2015, recording the 2016 album California with the group. While its unclear what Skiba’s plans post-Blink are, DeLonge personally reached out to him to express his gratitude for filling in during his absence.

DeLonge shared a personal note he wrote to Skiba via Instagram on Thursday (Oct. 13), captioning a screenshot of his message, “I sent this to Matt personally, but it’s important for the world to know that I honor him. Thank you, @matttskiba.”

The note reads: “Hi Matt, Tom DeLonge here. I wanted to take take a minute and say thank you for all that you have done to keep the band alive and thriving in my absence. I think you are enormously talented (I still love to listen to your band to this day). You have always been so kind to me, not only in the press, but also to others. I really noticed. Emotions between the three of us in Blink have always been complicated, but Mark’s cancer really put things in perspective. But to be honest, the band would not even be here today if it were not for your ability to jump in and save the day. So from my heart to yours, thank you for being a member of our band.”

Blink-182’s new era is kicking off with a bang — in addition to an international tour, which will see the trio heading to North and South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand — the members plan to release a new, yet-untitled album. The forthcoming album’s lead single, “Edging,” will be released Friday.
