A fan during the Q&A session asked, “new tattoos?” in the AMA box, to which the “Hole in the Bottle” singer shared a picture of her posing in the mirror in a green bikini, showing off her new body art: a tiny wave.
“I got a little wave on my hip,” she told the inquiring fan. And apparently, the new ink has been a long time coming — “I’ve been wanting it since 2016 and just randomly one day did it. it’s my fourth little baby tat. kinda want more. kinda don’t want my mom to kill me,” she added.
The singer shed light on how she got her first tattoo in a 2021 interview with Shape. “This is a story I’ve never told publicly. The day before my first photo shoot, I panicked because I wanted a tattoo but didn’t have one yet,” she said. “And I was like, What if this single [‘Love Me Like You Mean It’] works and people start to follow me? Then all of a sudden, I get a tattoo. People will be like, ‘She’s going off the deep end.’”
That first tattoo, Ballerini revealed, ended up being the “how sweet the sound” lyric from “Amazing Grace” on her left forearm. “It was just this youthfully innocent way of saying, ‘I’ve got to be who I am from the beginning of this,’” she added. “A lot of artists and public people have a persona that they step into, but I can’t do that. I don’t want any surprises. I just want it all to be out there.”

The National are teasing their next project, and it’s shaping up to be a high-profile one.
On Friday (Jan. 13), the group uploaded a video of lead singer Matt Berninger in a sepia-toned clip sitting at a piano bench and reading a copy of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein as a sparse, piano instrumental softly plays in the background.
The short video clip also included a link to a password-protected page on their website, americanmary.com/lp9. Fans were quick find out how to access the page (spoiler alert: “EVIL FOREBODINGS” unlocks the mysterious link).

When opened, the page features a video with the same piano melody, which later follows into a more drum-heavy instrumental, soundtracking a green novel with its first two pages exposed. The book starts off with a letter addressed “To Mrs. Bridgers, England” — as in Phoebe Bridgers — and has two other notable mentions throughout the text: “Taylor” Swift and “Uncle Sufjan” Stevens.
Naturally, fans were ecstatic to learn The National would be working with Swift, Bridgers and Stevens on a new project. “TAYLOR PHOEBE SUFJAN AND THE NATIONAL ON THE SAME ALBUM WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS,” one fan wrote on the band’s Instagram post, while another fan speculated that keywords in the letter reveal “a tracklist for the new album: Poolside, Alcott, Ice Machines, Your Mind is Not Your Friend, Alien, Tropic Morning News, Eucalyptus, This Isn’t Helping, and Grease in Your Hair!”
The National released their most recent album, I Am Easy to Find, in 2019. In the following years, bandmembers Bryan Devendorf, Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner teamed up with Swift on 2020’s folklore and evermore albums, introducing the band to Swift’s wide-reaching fanbase.

Ashley Tisdale detailed her struggle with alopecia in a new social media post on Wednesday (Jan. 11).
“In my young twenties, I noticed that there was, like, a little bit of a bald spot right at my hair line,” the High School Musical star said in the video. “And I asked my hair colorist, ‘What is that?’ And she was like, ‘Oh, that’s alopecia.’ I didn’t even know what that was.
After receiving an official diagnosis from her dermatologist, the actress learned the condition is “autoimmune, and a lot of it’s triggered by stress.”
“Any type of hair loss can affect your self-esteem, especially if you feel like you’re the only one going through it. That’s why I want to talk about it openly—because it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Sometimes it’s connected to hormones, other times to heredity, and for me, it’s connected to stress overload,” Tisdale added in the caption of the post.
The “Love Me & Let Me Go” singer went on to share a few of the solutions that have helped her deal with alopecia over the years, from stress management techniques like yoga, meditation and therapy to using platelet rich plasma and investing in the auto-immune paleo diet.
Back in August, the Disney Channel alum stepped back into the shoes of Sharpay Evans for a TikTok recreation of “I Want It All” from High School Musical 3, co-starring social media personality Chris Olsen in lieu of her co-star Lucas Grabeel.

Naya Rivera would have turned 36 years old Thursday (Jan. 12). In a heartbreaking Instagram post, her ex-husband Ryan Dorsey marked the hollow occasion by paying tribute to the beloved Glee star, who died in a tragic drowning accident two years ago.
Dorsey, who was married to Rivera from 2014 to 2018, shared a trio of photos of the late actress smiling alongside their son, Josey, who turned 7 last year. “A little easier with each little bit of time that passes by to look at pictures…but I still don’t have the answers to the questions to the why’s our sweet boy asks from time to time,” he wrote. “I never will.”
“Doing the best we can,” he added. “Fly high.”
Josey was with Rivera on the day she died in July 2020, found sleeping alone on a boat the Sorry Not Sorry author had rented earlier that day in Lake Piru in Southern California. Rivera’s body was found five days later, and it is believed that she saved Josey’s life by pushing him safely onto the boat before she drowned.
“If you’re reading this no matter what you’re going through, take a moment of gratitude that you’re still here on this ride,” Dorsey concluded his post. “I know some days are harder than others to get up, but keep we just gotta keep pushing onward.”
This marks three years of birthdays Rivera has missed since she died at age 33. Last year, Dorsey honored her on what would have been her 35th birthday, telling People, “At least once a day I find myself shaking my head, like it’s still unbelievable, so surreal that she’s gone.”
“She’d be freaking out today, I could almost hear her: ‘OMG, I’m almost 40!’” he added. “It’s hard to write this, tears coming out my eyes. Unf—ing real.”

Another day, another concert in which The 1975‘s Matty Healy makes headlines for his performance antics.
While playing “Robbers,” one of The 1975’s fan-favorite tracks, Healy made waves after sucking a girl’s thumb toward the end of song. Footage from the moment shows the rock star getting a caress to the face from a fan at the barricade; then Healy leans into her hand to suck her thumb by the time the song is over.
The owner of the thumb — a fan named Kayleigh — took to Twitter to share her excitement at sharing such an intimate moment with The 1975 singer, and wrote on Sunday “EVERYONE IS CALLING ME THUMB GIRL BYE.” She followed up the tweet Monday (Jan. 9) and shared, “I’d like to publicly apologise to denise welch and tim healy for making them watch their son suck my thumb last night.”
It is now common knowledge that The 1975’s fans expect memorable moments from Healy onstage. In November, the vocalist kissed a fan during “Robbers,” later extending his affections and kissing fellow bandmate Ross MacDonald. The following month, Healy got a tattoo that read “I’m a Man” during a break in the band’s set. In previous stops during the North American trek, Healy made waves for eating raw meat onstage.
The 1975 returned to touring for the new year on Jan. 8 and will make several stops across the United Kingdom before heading to South America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia later in the year.

Lizzo is feeling “the way of the water” — so much so, that she whipped out her very best Avatar cosplay for a new TikTok video.
The “About Damn Time” singer — who is currently away on vacation — shared a video to TikTok on Monday (Jan. 9) of her wading through picturesque blue water in an all-black bikini mimicking one of Avatar: The Way of Water‘s new characters, Tsireya of the Metkayina clan. The pop star did a duet video with herself, mimicking Tsireya’s movements side by side, flicking her hair in unison with the character.
“Yes I saved this video.. uploaded it private…then duetted myself,” the Grammy winner hilariously captioned the post, along with a smiling emoji. Fans in the comments section loved her cosplay moment and wrote in her comments section, “QUEEEN LIZZO THEY SHOULDVE CASTED YOU.” Another excited fan wrote that Lizzo “SERVED AND GOBBLED IT UP.”

Lizzo’s new beachy video comes on the heels of her calling out people who insist on making comments on other people’s bodies. In a Jan. 6 TikTok, the singer vented, “I’ve seen comments go from, ‘Oh my gosh, I liked you when you were thick. Why did you lose weight?’ ‘Oh my gosh, why did you get a BBL? I liked your body before.’ ‘Oh my gosh, you’re so big. You need to lose weight but for your health’ to ‘Oh my gosh, you’re so little. You need to get a– or titties or something.’ ‘Oh my gosh, why did she get all that work done? It’s too much work.’”
She continued, “Are we OK? Do you see the delusion? Do you realize that artists are not here to fit into your beauty standards? Artists are here to make art. And this body is art. I’mma do whatever I want with this body. I wish that comments costed y’all money so we could see how much time we are f—ing wasting on the wrong thing. Can we leave that sh– back there please?”

Joey Fatone surprised patrons at a Miami drag brunch over the weekend by jumping on stage to perform *NSYNC‘s “Bye Bye Bye.”
“WHAT A WEEKEND ITS BEEN ALREADY!! We had the honor of being visited by @nsyncs own @realjoeyfatone who joined us and sang one of their biggest hits with our queens for our visitors…You never know who’s going to attend our shows!,” drag bar Palace shared via Instagram on Saturday (Jan. 8) alongside a video of the boy band veteran dancing to the 2000 pop classic with a pair of drag queens. He even busted out the iconic choreography from the track’s music video for the moment.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under season 3 winner Spankie Jackzon couldn’t get enough of the post, writing, “Yassss I would be living” in the comments.
Released as the lead single off *NSYNC’s sophomore album No Strings Attached, the swaggering No. 1 kiss-off helped launch the album to a then-record-setting 2.4 million copies sold in its first week. “Bye Bye Bye” was later followed by fellow fan favorites “It’s Gonna Be Me,” “I’ll Never Stop” and “This I Promise You.”
Last fall, Fatone served as a guest judge on Season 8 of The Masked Singer and just so happened to be on set for bandmate Chris Kirkpatrick’s big unmasking as Hummingbird after he immediately guessed his identity.
One month earlier, the *NSYNC nostalgia was in full steam when Justin Timberlake wished JC Chasez a happy birthday after the latter turned 46.

What’s old is officially new again. Case in point: After going through a box of old things, Carrie Underwood‘s sons have discovered the art of Tae Bo — a martial arts style of fitness that became popular during the 1990s — and they can’t seem to get enough, especially the country singer’s son Jake.

Underwood took to Instagram on Friday (Jan. 6) to share a candid video of Jake watching a Tae Bo class and performing the moves in perfect unison with the television, sometimes with a little help from his toddler hands to help lift up his legs. “Jake starting off the day right!” the country singer wrote over the video.
The “Denim & Rhinestones” singer gave some additional context in the video’s caption: “The boys found one of my old Tae Bo DVDs in a box of things and Jake thought he’d have himself a little morning workout! I may soon have myself a gym buddy!” she wrote, adding a crying laughing emoji as well as several arm muscle emojis.
Fellow country music star Jimmie Allen chimed in, commenting “He’s getting after it.” Allen added that Jake’s newfound Tae Bo skills are “more exercising than I’ve done in the last 3 years.” Zach Swon of the Swon Brothers also found the video amusing, writing, “Haven’t heard the words Tae Bo in a minute ….. or DVD,” along with a nerdy emoji.

New year, new kittens! Machine Gun Kelly continues to be a cat lover in 2023, and to prove it, he showed off two felines who have been added to his cat family in recent weeks via Instagram on Friday (Jan. 6).
The “Tickets to My Downfall” singer took to the social media app to share a series of photos and videos of his furry friends.
“New gang members: Tickets & Na’avi,” the rockstar captioned the posts, which showed the kittens — one very young with curly fur, the other slightly older with eye-catching bengal-patterned fur — interacting with his other cats, sometimes cuddling, sometimes hissing or playing as they grow accustomed to their new surroundings.
MGK last shared an update on his cat family last February after adding Whiskey to the cat pack, a move that sparked PETA to call him and fiancée Megan Fox out for owning a designer pet. The animal rights group plastered posters all over West Hollywood, Calif., depicting a cat in a cage with the caption “Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly: Why do you hate me?”
In a press release about the posters, PETA celebrity relations manager Matt Kilbourne wrote in a letter to the couple: “Congratulations on the engagement of twin flames and two halves of the same soul. But really, didn’t even half of the soul consider homeless cats, who number in the tens of thousands at animal shelters in L.A., before purchasing a purebred one? In addition to having Whiskey neutered, if you decide to add to your family again, can we please ask that you get a friend for him at one of L.A.’s shelters so that you can help ease the overpopulation problem rather than exacerbate it?” (MGK did not respond to PETA’s comments.)

Ouch! Charli XCX shared a snap from a hospital bed on Thursday (Jan. 5) after having her wisdom teeth removed.
In the selfie, the “Hot In It” singer lays in the post-op bed with with giant packs of gauze on her jaw, a monitor jokingly stuck to her forehead and one shoulder falling out of her hospital gown. But never fear, she made it clear in the cheeky caption that she’s already on the chaotic mend, writing, “all my wisdom has gone. dumb and inexplicable decisions only from now on.”
If Charli is committed to only dumb decisions post-surgery, one of her smartest decisions of 2022 was releasing her fifth studio album Crash last March. Not only did the studio set — which contained pop-driven singles like “Good Ones,” “Beg For You” with Rina Sawayama and “Baby” — notch the star her very first top 10 album of her career, it also landed at No. 17 on Billboard‘s best albums of 2022 list.
Throughout the rest of the year, Charli hit the stage at the “Live From the Upside Down” concert to celebrate the Season 4 premiere of Netflix’s Stranger Things, celebrated the 10th anniversary of “I Love It” with Icona Pop by dropping a brand new remix and took over day one of Life Is Beautiful 2022 in Las Vegas along with female powerhouses like Alison Wonderland and Blu DeTiger. There was also the moment where she and Lorde almost dressed up as one another for Halloween, too.
