Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus are still good friends, eight years after their iconic duet of Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream It’s Over.”
In a recent TikTok, Cyrus looked back on the performance as part of her ongoing “Used To Be Young” video series, which she launched last month in celebration of her new single of the same name. She and the “Positions” pop star recorded their cover of “Don’t Dream It’s Over” in 2015 to benefit Cyrus’ Happy Hippie Foundation, dressed in adorable animal onesies and singing with a live band.
“I was flirting with her, and she was a little scared,” Cyrus said, watching footage from the performance on an iPad. “We were having fun!”

In the video, the “Flowers” musician — still sporting her trademark Bangerz era pixie cut — tells a slightly flustered Grande that she looks cute in her onesie, causing the two to miss one of their entrances. “Sorry, I was flirting!” Cyrus, then 22 years old, tells the band.
Two years later, Cyrus and Grande would perform the same duet at the latter pop star’s One Love Manchester event, which raised funds for victims and families affected by the terrorist bombing attacks at Grande’s 2017 Manchester Arena concert.

“Ariana’s a real friend,” Cyrus added in her “Used To Be Young” video. “There’s never been a time where I’ve asked her to do something that was important to me that she didn’t come through. And same thing for me with her.”
Afterward, Grande reposted the video onto her own Instagram Story and called Cyrus “my sweet.” “Love you always @mileycyrus,” continued the R.E.M. Beauty founder. “we #usedtobeyoung !!!!”
The pair’s 2015 duet is one of many career highlights Cyrus has reflected on for “Used To Be Young,” with the Black Mirror alum also touching on her brutal Hannah Montana era work schedule, her surprisingly successful debut single “See You Again,” and that one photo of her with Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato that she hilariously says should’ve been fans’ first sign that she’s bisexual.

Early this year, after Elon Musk had finalized his purchase of the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, the Tesla CEO announced that it would relax its ban on political ads, which had been implemented in 2019. Well, now, it appears that Musk has made good on that promise and has announced that X will not only allow the ads but is promising transparency and “robust screening processes.”
From Deadline:
“Building on our commitment to free expression, we are also going to allow political advertising,” said a blog post today by X Safety called ‘Supporting people’s right to accurate and safe political discourse on X’ that outlined its plans.
“Starting in the U.S., we’ll continue to apply specific policies to paid-for promoted political posts. This will include prohibiting the promotion of false or misleading content, including false or misleading information intended to undermine public confidence in an election, while seeking to preserve free and open political discourse. We’ll also provide a global advertising transparency center so that everyone can review political posts being promoted on X, in addition to robust screening processes to ensure only eligible groups and campaigns are able to advertise,” the post read.
It noted that “more than half a billion people from around the world gather on X to talk about their interests in real-time, and that includes elections. X enables people to directly engage on important topics with elected representatives, local or national leaders and fellow citizens.”
And it said that during elections, “X works to get in front of a range of tactics that people use to target the process. To do this we hire the right people, update our policies and evolve our product.”
So what it seems like is that Musk’n’nem are allowing political ads again just in time for the 2024 presidential race. Musk, who is more of a political and social right-winger than he likes to admit, could be trying to use X to bolster political support for Donald Trump, or whatever other Republican looks like they might be next in line if Trump’s legal issues get in the way of him getting his orangey-rust dust all over the Oval Office furniture once again.
But at least he’s promising not to allow X to become the cesspool of election fraud propaganda and political misinformation Twitter was when Trump and Trump acolytes like Marjorie Taylor Green were allowed to run wild on the platform and lie all they wanted.
Although come to think of it, all of that was going on while Twitter was still banning political ads, so who knows?

Is Pinkydoll “light skin fishing?” The TikTok star is clapping back at claims that she is hoodwinking and bamboozling folk out here.
Confusion hit X timelines when Pinkydoll hit the stage at the Streamy Awards looking like a brown bombshell and not like an NPC with light skin doing weird things for views.
TMZ caught up with Pinkydoll, and she made it clear she is proud to be Black and, in her painfully robotic voice, basically chalks it up to being in the sun.
Per TMZ:
Twitter was perplexed to see Pinkydoll is actually darker in the flesh … and some accused her of trying to purposely bait people into thinking she’s some race other than Black.
She’s strongly denying that, though, telling our camera guy she’s proud of her melanin — and she offers an explanation for the obvious skin tone difference. Now, whether you buy it … that’s up to you.
Still, X users are reacting to Pinkydoll’s new hue and sounding off on Elon Musk’s sh*tty platform.
“The fact pinky doll tricked the colorists and the algorithms,” one X user wrote.
“Yall be letting yt women get away with Blackfishing, but you mad at PinkyDoll for fooling colorists and making money off of yall??” another X user wrote.
“Got a lightskin friend look like Pinkydoll, got a dark skin friend look like Pinkydoll,” another hilarious X post read.
LOL.

Paramore‘s Hayley Williams revealed that she’s been feeling better these days, after the band had to cancel the remaining dates of its recent tour due to her coming down with a lung infection in recent weeks.
The frontwoman shared an update about her health in a post to Paramore’s Discord server on Monday (Aug. 28), revealing that the band is already in the process of recording new material.
“We’ve been off the road for a couple of weeks now…mainly in LA. Thankfully got some down time but we put some work in too. It felt good to get back into a studio. More of that once we get home to Nashville,” the “Running Out of Time” singer started the post.
She continued, “I can hardly believe I don’t cough all day and night anymore. My stomach is still f—ed from 10 kinds of medication…I’m just happy to be resting more. When I was feeling my worst, I couldn’t do much but just sleep and lay around. I watched all of Yellowjackets, 3 or 4 music docs, They Cloned Tyrone, A Good Person (never cried so much or stared blankly across my living room for longer after a movie was over)…but mostly I just scrolled around on my phone…to a degree that has been, to put it nicely, disgusting.”
After taking a moment to muse on her recent social media use, Williams expressed a desire to have a better routine in place, one that will give way to her and bandmates Zac Farro and Taylor York creating more material.
“Zac and Taylor and I also just want to get back to making things. Not only the creative process but the layer(s) of insulation that can come with the creative process,” she explained. “For me, when we get into this mode it always feels nice to disappear this way. Maybe this time I will be able to find balance between the disappearing and yet not completely shutting out the world. But probably not.”
The new update comes after Paramore canceled the final two dates of their North American tour slated to take place in Portland, Ore., on Aug. 10 and in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Aug. 13. Earlier this month, Williams shot back at an Internet user online who criticized her for postponing shows and insinuated she could have carried on like Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, who in the past has performed shows with a broken leg while sitting on a throne.
“I have a lung infection you soft s—! Not a broken limb,” she wrote to the person who called her “whiney,” noting, “One you can sing with for 2 hours, another you cant. But worry not! The shows weren’t canceled, merely postponed a week. Maybe you should come out to one of them… like Dave did.”
