Kristen Wiig has officially become a member of the Five-Timers Club at Saturday Night Live.
The actress and comedian returned to Studio 8H on April 6, marking her fifth time hosting the long-running sketch comedy show. During her opening monologue, the Palm Royale star was welcomed into the prestigious group by some huge celebrities — many of whom weren’t actually Five-Timers themselves.
The cameo-filled segment started with Paul Rudd, who popped up from the audience wearing a Five-Timers Club jacket he received in 2021. “I also heard a rumor that you might be doing one of those Five-Timers sketches featuring awesome celebrity cameos,” the Ant Man actor told Wiig. “So is there a script or something I could look at for that?”
After Wiig broke the news that the evening’s episode wouldn’t feature a Five-Timers Club skit, former SNL writer Paula Pell stood up to note that the NBC show hands out Five-Timers Club jackets “to everybody like free maxi pads.” Proving her point, Matt Damon appeared wearing one of the dark blue coats despite the fact that he’s only hosted SNL twice.
Damon boasted that SNL creator Lorne Michaels told him “the first time I hosted was so good, it counted for three. Second time, not quite as good, that only counted for two, but by my math, that’s five, baby!”

Wiig then questioned whether the Five-Timers Club held anymore meaning before the camera cut to Michaels surrounded by Jon Hamm, Fred Armisen, Will Forte and Martin Short — all of whom wore the jackets despite not having hosted five times. “Together, we’ve hosted five times,” Forte said.
As the monologue closed, with Wiig being serenaded by the celebs, Ryan Gosling — who is set to host next week’s SNL — made a cameo wearing the Five-Timers coat, even though he has not hosted the appropriate amount of times. “Are you sure?” the Barbie star asked Michaels. “I mean, I haven’t even hosted three times yet. It seems unfair.”
The monologue ended with Gosling handing Wiig her very own Five-Timers jacket.
Earlier in the show, English songstress RAYE made her musical guest debut on SNL, performing a pair of songs from her Brit Award-winning debut album, My 21st Century Blues.

Raye is making her Saturday Night Live debut this weekend (April 5) — but first, she received a valuable slang lesson from Kristen Wiig and Bowen Yang. “It’s always such an honor to work with an OG,” Yang tells Wiig, who is a former SNL cast member and is set to host the show for […]

When Travis Scott returns to Saturday Night Live this weekend as the musical guest, castmember Marcello Hernandez promises the show will be in “Sicko Mode” — just like Scott’s Billboard Hot 100-topping Drake collab from 2018. But first-time host Ramy Youssef isn’t having it in new SNL promos, released late Thursday (March 28) ahead of Saturday’s new episode.
“I told you not to do that in front of him,” the Poor Things actor/comedian tells Hernandez of the song-title pun.

“Sorry, I just get these goosebumps every time,” Hernandez replies with a smirk, name-dropping yet another Scott song: “Goosebumps,” a top 40 Hot 100 solo hit in 2017 that led to the No. 47-peaking HVME remix in 2021.
“It’s just not a good look,” Youssef says. “Sorry, Trav.”
Things don’t get any better for Hernandez in a second promo, when he launches into an ill-fated joke setup. “A Latino guy, an Egyptian guy and a Black guy walk into a bar…” he begins, before Scott and Youssef cut him off.
“You guys are probably right, because the punchline was bad,” Hernandez admits, before Youssef says, “The setup was too.”
Scott will take his second turn as SNL musical guest this weekend, following his October 2018 debut. For his first performance, he brought out John Mayer on guitar and Kevin Parker of Tame Impala on bass for a mash-up of “Skeletons” (which features Mayer) and “Astrothunder” (a collaboration with Tame Impala) from his Astroworld album, before pulling out “Sicko Mode” sand Drake for his second song.
Youssef will host SNL for the first time after co-starring opposite Emma Stone in the awards-season darling Poor Things. The stand-up comedian also took home the best actor in a television series – musical or comedy Golden Globe in 2020 for his Hulu series Ramy.

Saturday Night Live‘s Bowen Yang dropped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday night (March 11) to deconstruct his hilarious Moulin Rogue spoof with Ariana Grande on this weekend’s SNL. “That was very fun,” Yang said of the bit with his Wicked co-star in which they imagined what the movie musical would have been like if director Baz Luhrmann had been able to grab the rights to some other popular songs.
“No play, she’s a real friend,” Yang said, adding that someone had asked him backstage if he was intimidated to sing with the pop diva. “I was like, ‘it never occurred to me’… that I was singing with her and that I should be intimidated. She’s so disarmingly wonderful and great and it was just so fun to do it,” he said.

Yang also told a hilarious performing skills origin story about how as a kid he used to haunt the Dance, Dance Revolution game on display at his local Best Buy, which was, naturally, situated next to the Costco at Park Meadows Mall in suburban Colorado. The game was set up in the middle of the store and Yang said he’d compete with the staff to see who had the slickest, fastest feet.

“And all these, like, 25-year-old goths were shaking in their boots when this 14-year-old Asian kid would walk into the store and everyone would scurry,” Yang said. “Because I was about to hand their asses to them dancing to Kylie Minogue!” The SNL breakout star said he would go every week and by the third month he had developed his well-deserved DDR ass-kicking reputation.
It was such a formative experience that Yang said he thinks he could play the Super Bowl halftime show, because, like his DDR clinics, he’s used to having an audience behind him. “Because it’s a 360 stage and I’m performing to the people behind me,” Yang boasted.
Yang also talked about his instant classic “Bowen Straight” sketch from two weeks ago in which the out comedian made out with host Sydney Sweeney and actress Gina Gershon. “I gotta tell you guys something. You know when you have a head injury and you can’t see colors quite right?” Yang said. “I feel like I got hit in the head by these two women and I’m still a little straight… I understand why Austin Butler talked like Elvis for a while after the movie. I think for a couple more weeks I’m still straight… ladies get in there!”
The first part of the Wicked musical will open in theaters on Nov. 27.

Ariana Grande returned to Saturday Night Live as musical guest to perform new songs from her latest album, Eternal Sunshine.
The 30-year-old pop superstar and actress took the stage at Studio 8H for the third time on March 9 to deliver powerful renditions of “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” and “Imperfect for You” from her seventh full-length, which arrived on Friday.
The Wicked star was introduced by SNL host Josh Brolin for her first song and received an intro from her mother, Joan Grande, for her second performance.
Grande opened with “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love),” delivering the midtempo track on a set designed as a living room while the song’s just-released music video played on a retro TV set in the background. The clip pays loving homage to the 2004 Jim Carrey sci-fi romance that inspired her album new album title.

The singer and actress returned for a stirring performance of “Imperfect for You,” where she performed amid an outdoorsy background reminiscent of the poppy field in Wizard of Oz.
Grande has appeared on SNL twice before: once as the musical guest in September 2014 and once pulling double-duty as both host and performer in March 2016.
The songstress launched her Eternal Sunshine era at the top of 2024 with the release of “Yes, And?” The Max Martin-helmed house bop debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 — her sixth song to do so — and later received a remix featuring fellow chart-conquering diva Mariah Carey. Inspired by the Oscar-winning Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Grande’s new album features contributions from Martin, Ilya, Oscar Görres and Nonna, Ariana’s grandmother.
On Saturday evening, Grande also announced the “slightly deluxe” version of Eternal Sunshine, featuring four additional tracks: “Supernatural (featuring Troye Sivan), “Imperfect for You” (acoustic), “True Story” (a capella) and “Yes, And?” (featuring Carey).
