Kesha Signs With Crush Management

Kesha has signed with Crush Management, the company confirmed with Billboard. She will be co-managed by Charlie Adelman, Jonathan Daniel and Bob Mclynn.

In December, the pop icon parted ways with longtime manager Jack Rovner and Vector Management.

“Jack Rovner confirms, after 16 years, Kesha and Vector Management have agreed amicably to part ways, with much love and respect,” read a statement shared with Billboard at the time.

The split came on the heels of a busy year for Kesha, who released her fifth album, Gag Order, last May. One month later, in June, Kesha and producer Dr. Luke reached a settlement ending the latter’s years-long lawsuit in which he accused the pop star of defaming him by accusing him of rape. The settlement came one week after a New York court issued a key ruling that would have made it harder for Dr. Luke to win the case.

Gag Order peaked at No. 11 on Billboard‘s Top Album Sales chart. The project was produced by Rick Rubin and featured more experimental “post-pop” production, as defined by Kesha in a previous interview. Most notably, the album fulfilled her contract with Kemosabe — as reported by Variety at the time — which was founded by Dr. Luke and is distributed by RCA Records.

Already this year, Kesha has been teasing new music via clips on Instagram that show the singer back in the studio. She and Lil Nas X have also been teasing a forthcoming collaboration.

At Crush, Kesha joins a star-studded roster that includes Miley Cyrus, Lorde and Green Day.

Signed: Kate Hudson Finds Home for Recorded Music Debut; 33 & West Inks 3 Mexican Rap Acts

Oscar-nominated actor Kate Hudson has signed with Virgin Music Group for her recorded music debut. The first single under the deal, “Talk About Love” — co-written by Hudson with Linda Perry and Danny Fujikawa — was released on Tuesday (Jan. 30). Hudson is managed by Jason Owen and Jake Basen at Sandbox Entertainment Group.

33 & West Talent Agency is expanding its music roster. In a signing spree, the company has announced the addition of rapper Dharius, rap group La Santa Grifa and hip-hop artist Charles Ans. According to the company, the addition of the three Mexican acts “reinforces the agency’s existing Latin music roster and further signifies 33 & West’s commitment to diversity, aligning with the growing influence and the overdue recognition of Latin artists in the United States.” – Griselda Flores

Zerb has signed with UTA for global representation outside his native Brazil. The DJ is managed by Gabriel Tofoli at Salt N Pepper Management and signed to Th3rd Brain Records with distribution by FUGA.

ADA UK has signed emerging U.K. rapper Nemzzz to an album deal. The company has also signed a deal with Dutch EDM DJ Chuckie and his Voltage label. Nemzzz is booked by Craig D’Souza at WME. Chuckie is represented by managers Sergio Bienati and Kevin Harris at Club Class as well as booking agents Simon Halliwell and Aaron Cook at Active Talent Agency (Europe and Asia); Charlie Irwin at Spin Artist Agency (United States); and Sophie van Deventer at Storm Agency (Benelux).

German American indie-pop artist Noah “NoMBe” McBeth has signed a global record deal with Position Music. His first single with the company, “Space for Two,” is slated for release on Friday (Feb. 9). NoMBe is managed by Eric Vogel and James Hadid at JET Management and booked by Alex Becket and Mike Mori at CAA. He is also signed to Position for publishing.

Nettwerk has signed L.A.-based indie-pop artist renforshort and L.A.-based singer-songwriter Rose Betts. Renforshort’s first release on the label will be “serpentine” and Betts’ will be “War,” with both tracks set to drop on Friday (Feb. 9). Renforshort is represented by Riley Kirkwood at CAMP Management and agents Zac Bluestone and Tom Windish at Wasserman. Betts is represented by Jeremy Skaller, Jared Cotter and Madison Bickel at The Heavy Group and agents David Zedick, Alana Gitt and Akhil Hegde at UTA.

Phil Vassar has signed with agents Nick Meinema and Travis James at Action Entertainment Collaborative for global booking representation. Vassar is kicking off his 2024 tour on Feb. 29 in Savery, Wyo. He is managed by Amy Millslagle; his label is American Soul.

Baton Rouge, La.-based singer-songwriter Odie Leigh has signed with Mom + Pop, which released her new song, “No Doubt,” on Jan. 25. Leigh is represented by manager Eric Jones at Homestead Artists and booked by Wasserman’s Yitzi Peetluk and Lindsay McDowell in North America, and by the agency’s Rob Challice and Laura Flynn in the United Kingdom and the European Union.

Athens, Ga.-based indie rock band Futurebirds has signed a global recording deal with Dualtone Records, a MNRK Music Group company. A new album is slated for release later this year. The band is represented by Dawson Morris at GT Music Group and Jon Prine at Wasserman.

Nashville-based management company Big Al Management, led by founder/CEO Alex Evelyn, has signed CMT Next Women of Country alum Camille Parker to its roster. Parker recently released her debut EP and was featured on Apple TV’s original series My Kind of Country. – Jessica Nicholson

Country Hitmaker Dean Dillon Signs With River House Artists & Sony Music Publishing

Legendary songwriter and Country Music Hall of Famer Dean Dillon has signed a global publishing deal with River House Artists in partnership with Sony Music Publishing.

Dillon, who was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002 and into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2021, is known for his long association with George Strait. He has written more than 70 Strait hits, including “The Chair,” “I’ve Come to Expect It From You,” “Easy Come, Easy Go” and “The Best Day.” Dillon was named the BMI Country Icon in 2013, and he has amassed a combined total of 31 BMI Country and Pop Awards. In 2011, he was nominated for a Grammy for country song of the year for Strait’s “Breath You Take.” Most recently, he was named a nominee for the 2024 Songwriters Hall Of Fame induction.

Dillon moved to Nashville in 1973. In addition to his songs for Strait, he also co-wrote such hits as Jim Ed Brown and Helen Cornelius’ “Lying Here in Love With You,” which reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart in 1979, and George Jones‘ “Tennessee Whiskey,” which has gone on to become a signature song for Chris Stapleton. Dillon’s songs have also been recorded by artists including Toby Keith (“It’s a Little Too Late”) and Kenny Chesney & Dave Matthews (“I’m Alive”).

Signed: Shinedown Goes Global With WME, Alex G Inks With RCA

Rock band Shinedown has expanded its deal with WME by signing a global deal with the agency, which previously represented the band in the United States and Canada only.

“The touring industry is ever evolving, and live music and performance means everything to us. I have said it before, and I will say it again… Shinedown only has one boss, it just happens to be everyone in the audience,” said Shinedown vocalist Brent Smith in a statement. “We have been working with Ron Opaleski at WME in the United States and Canada for many years. We feel now is the time to take our partnership global. We are extremely honored and excited to be working with Lucy Dickins and her international team at WME. We are fully focused on the future and we are ready to go!!!”

Earlier this month, Shinedown extended its record for the most No. 1s in the history of Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart when it again hit the peak with “A Symptom of Being Human,” the band’s 19th leader on the tally. Its most recent album, Planet Zero (Atlantic Records), debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in July 2022, marking the group’s fifth top 10 album.

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alex G has signed with RCA Records. The announcement coincided with the unveiling of Alex G’s 2024 North American tour, which kicks off June 7 at New York’s Governors Ball; he’s also slated to support Foo Fighters on select dates of the band’s Everything or Nothing At All U.S. stadium tour. Alex G is managed by Tyler Richman at weekday and booked in North and South America by Greg Horbal at Wasserman Music; Matt Pickering-Copley at Primary Talent International books him for the rest of the world.

Sixpence None the Richer (“Kiss Me”) has signed with Deep South Entertainment for management after reuniting for the first time in 12 years. The news arrived with the announcement that the band’s hit 1997 self-titled album will be re-released on vinyl by Curb Records.

MNRK Music Group has signed Indian singer-songwriter Guru Randhawa for management in partnership with Randhawa’s Mumbai, India-based management firm Exceed Entertainment. Randhawa is represented by CAA for booking; his label is T-Series.

Canadian reggae-fusion band MAGIC! has signed with ONErpm, which will release all of the group’s future projects globally. The group’s first release on ONErpm is the track “Good Feeling About You,” which will appear on the band’s forthcoming album, Inner Love Energy, slated for release later this year. MAGIC! is booked by Seth Rappaport at Paladin Artists.

Norteño group Código FN has signed a management deal with Gorge Prajin‘s Prajin Parlay, the management company home to Peso Pluma, Santa Fe Klan and Jasiel Nuñez, among others. Prajin Parlay works in partnership with Peso Pluma’s record label, Double P Records. The five-member group — composed of Ernesto Tito León, Danny León, Ramiro Luna, Martín Parra and Manuel Villalpando — blends tumbado and bachata styles into the traditional accordion-powered norteño sound. – Griselda Flores

Verve Label Group has announced two new signings: indie singer-songwriter Phosphorescent (aka Matthew Huock) to Verve Records and experimental jazz-punk trio The Messthetics to Impulse! Records. Verve Records will release Phosphorescent’s upcoming album, Revelator, on Apr. 15, preceded by the title track on Jan. 24. Impulse! will release Messthetics’ new song, “Emergence,” on Jan. 24, and their upcoming album on Mar. 15. Phosphorescent is represented by manager Nick Stern and booked by CAA. The Messthetics is booked by Timmy Hefner at Ground Control Touring.

Regional Mexican newcomer Los Esquivel has signed a management deal with WK NXT, a division under WK Entertainment spearheaded by Chris Duque and Renato Francis. The new partnership includes co-management and worldwide bookings with Seitrack and an exclusive deal with Zamora Live for U.S. bookings. Most recently, Los Esquivel — composed of brothers Sebastian and Eugenio Esquivel — scored its first entry on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart with “Alucin,” a collaboration with Marca Registrada, which landed at No. 49 on the tally dated Jan. 27. – Griselda Flores

James Vincent McMorrow has signed a label deal with Nettwerk. The news arrived alongside the announcement of his forthcoming single, “Stay Cool,” which will be released on Friday (Jan. 26). McMorrow is managed by Ken Allen and Michael Roe at Faction Music.

North African and Middle Eastern artist Mohamed Ramadan has signed a partnership with Wassim “Sal” Slaiby‘s music management company SALXCO in a deal that includes booking representation. The signing coincides with the announcement of “Akwaba,” Ramadan’s official anthem (alongside Magic System and Yemi Alade) for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations soccer competition. His label is Universal Arabic Music.

South African artist Maxwell Jardine, who performs as 9lives, has signed to PULSE Music Group, which released his latest single, “MULTIMILLIONAIRE” with Trippie Redd and Odetari, on Friday (Jan. 19). 9Lives is represented by manager Dan Woolston of Higher Ground MGMT and booking agents James Gosnell and Mitch Blackman at APA.

Singer-songwriter Michael Marcagi (“The Other Side.”) has signed with Warner Records, which released his latest single, “Scared to Start,” on Jan. 12. Marcagi is managed by Andrew Marcagi and Alex Brahl and represented by Joe Atamian and Geoff Meal at Wasserman for booking.

Grammy-nominated composer, songwriter and producer Stephan Moccio has signed with Decca/Republic Records under a joint agreement. On May 10, he will release a new album, Legends, Myths and Lavendar, with “The Wanderer” serving as its first single. In addition to his solo output, Moccio has collaborated with artists including Miley Cyrus, Céline Dion and The Weeknd.

Singer-songwriter Chase McDaniel signed to Big Machine Records, which will release his new EP, Blame It All on Country Music, on Friday (Jan. 26). McDaniel is represented by manager Kevin Spellman at Vector and booking agent Kevin Neal at WME.

R&B singer-songwriter Samaria signed to RCA Records, which released her new EP, Even Paradise Rains, on Jan. 12. She is represented by CAA for booking.

Country singer-songwriter Ashley Anne signed with WME for global booking representation. Her debut EP, dear dolly, was independently released on Friday (Jan. 19).

Kenya Grace Signs Global Publishing Admin Deal With Warner Chappell

Warner Chappell Music has signed Kenya Grace to a global publishing administration agreement. Known best for her breakout single “Strangers,” she was the first to top Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart for a song written, produced and performed by a woman.

A self-taught talent, Grace was born in South Africa and raised in Southampton, England. In 2022, she released her first singles, including “Oranges,” “Afterparty Lover” and “Meteor,” and signed a deal with Warner Record’s dance label, Major Recordings. “Strangers” was her major label debut.

“I’m delighted to be working with Warner Chappell Music,” said Grace in a statement. “Songwriting is the most important part of my creativity, and I’m obsessed with great songs. The process of writing is my joy, art, and at times, therapy. There is so much I want to achieve as a writer, and with the Warner Chappell team behind me, I feel like I can achieve so much.”

Mod Sun Signs Management Deal With Shelter Music Group

Alternative-pop artist Mod Sun has signed a management deal with Shelter Music Group, the company tells Billboard.

The firm is home to iconic artists and acts including ZZ Top, Joe Perry and Fleetwood Mac. Mod Sun will be represented by Carl Stubner alongside Jackson Stubner and A&R James Robinson.

“We at Shelter Music Group are beyond excited to announce MOD SUN as the first company signing of 2024,” Robinson shared in a statement. “His dynamic musical styles coupled with his diversity as an all-around artist make him a once in a generation kind of [talent]. We look forward to working closely with him to elevate the strong platform he has already established.”

Mod Sun is gearing up for a big year. On Dec. 28, he took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to write, “2024 i will release my best album” along with a fingers crossed emoji. He followed the sentiment with another post on Jan. 1, writing: “cool s— only all 2024…Welcome2myWorld”

Mod Sun, who entered the music industry as a rapper, released his debut full-length, Look Up, in 2015. It debuted atop Billboard‘s Heatseekers Albums chart and hit No. 120 on the Billboard 200. In 2021, he released his fourth album, Internet Killed the Rockstar, which leaned heavily into pop-punk (and was also his first release on his then-new label, Big Noise). That set hit No. 21 on the Heatseekers Albums chart, while the single “Flames,” which featured Avril Lavigne, became an alternative-rock hit, appearing on multiple genre-based charts and climbing to No. 21 on Billboard‘s Alternative Airplay tally. Last year, Mod Sun released his fifth album, God Save the Seen, which sonically followed suit with Rockstar.

Outside of his own music, Mod Sun has scored major co-writes alongside close friends like Machine Gun Kelly and blackbear.

Signed: ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Star Bailee Madison Inks Record Deal With Red Van; Graham Barham to Sony Nashville

Bailee Madison — best known as an actor for her roles in films and TV shows including Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, Just Go With It, The Strangers: Prey at Night and A Week Away — has signed with Jonas Group Entertainment’s Red Van Records ahead of the release of her upcoming song, “Kinda Fun,” on Friday (Jan. 12). Madison co-wrote the song with boyfriend Blake Richardson. She previously signed with Jonas Group Publishing and is managed by Rachel Inglesino at Jonas Group Entertainment.

Singer-songwriter Graham Barham has signed with Sony Music Nashville and Disruptor Records. The Louisiana native recently debuted a new single, “Lights On Nobody’s Home,” and will open shows on Adam Doleac‘s Wrong Side of a Sunrise 2024 Tour. Girlfriends (“California,” “Jessica”), an alt-rock duo composed of Travis Mills and Nick Gross, signed a record deal with Verswire, marking the company’s second label signing.

WHY&HOW and RECORDS Nashville signed management and record deals, respectively, with singer-songwriter-guitarist Cole Philips, who recently gained attention for the track “Drinking Alone.”

L.A.-based artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist Bad Snacks signed with Nettwerk, which released her latest track, “iiwannabe,” on Friday (Jan. 5). Bad Snacks is represented by managers Makayla Meador and Kyle Dick at NAYMLIS and booking agent Jason Kupperman at Goldengate.

Three-piece Icelandic indie band LÓN signed with Do Less Management. The group comprises Valdimar Guomundsson, Asgeir Aoalsteinsson and Omar Guojonsso; the former two are also members of Iceland band Valdimar, while Guojonsso is a member of jazz-rock band adhd and frontman of the duo ROFOROFO. LÓN is signed to Sony Music Denmark.

Priority Records has signed rapper 70807 Teezy and released her debut mixtape, PSA, on Dec. 22. She’s also signed to Da King and I for management.

Christina Aguilera Signs With UTA for Worldwide Representation

Christina Aguilera has signed with UTA for worldwide representation, the company tells Billboard.

The pop icon joins a roster that includes some of music’s biggest players and hitmakers, including Lil Wayne, Post Malone, Karol G, Jonas Brothers and Guns N’ Roses.

The news comes on the heels of a major night for Aguilera: On Saturday (Dec. 30), she kicked off her latest Las Vegas residency at the Voltaire Belle de Nuit at The Venetian Resort.

“I couldn’t think of a better way to bid farewell to this incredible year than to spend this night in LAS VEGAS with all of you, surrounded by your energy and enthusiasm,” Aguilera wrote on Instagram Monday (Jan. 1). “Cheers to the magical moments we’ll create, the music that will fill our hearts, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.”

Aguilera has charted 30 songs on the Hot 100, including five No. 1 hits. On the Billboard 200, she’s scored two No. 1 albums (her 1999 self-titled debut and her 2006 album Back To Basics). In 2022, she released her ninth and latest album, Aguilera, which was composed of two EPs: La Fuerza and La Tormenta. It arrived via Sony Music Latin and marked her second Spanish language album following Mi Reflejo in 2000.

Aguilera celebrated the release of Aguilera during Billboard Latin Music Week 2022 with a special “Premiere Party With Christina Aguilera.” That same week, she was honored with the Spirit of Hope Award at the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Last year, Aguilera won the Advocate for Change Award at the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards.

Aguilera continues to be represented by Roc Nation and imPRint.

Signed: Gavin DeGraw to Sony Music Nashville; Alicia Villarreal to ADA Worldwide

Gavin DeGraw has signed with Sony Music Nashville on the heels of his latest EP, A Classic Christmas. DeGraw, who was previously on Sony’s RCA Records, is managed by Haley McElmore and JT Pratt at Otter Creek Entertainment.

ADA Worldwide‘s Latin division has signed a global distribution agreement with Mexican music star Alicia Villarreal and her label, Camixes Entertainment. The deal marks Villarreal’s return to releasing music after a seven-year hiatus. Her first independent single, “Ojo Por Ojo,” was released last month, while a new album is expected out next year. Villarreal is booked and managed by Apodaca Group.

Rock artist Two Feet has launched an independent record label, 477 Records, and signed emerging talent including Bec Lauder, Toby Mai and Elvis Drew. The label will also release Two Feet’s upcoming music, including the new single “Kill Anyone” feat. Ari Abdul. Two Feet is booked by Jay Moss and Steph Aristakesian at Wasserman and managed by G.D. Dess; Lauder is represented by NEXT Management.

19 Recordings and BMG signed Haven Madison, a top 8 finalist on Season 21 of American Idol who performed original songs including “Fifteen” and “Still Need You” on the series. Madison, who independently released the EP All the Things I Didn’t Say in 2022, is managed by Third Wave Music Group.

Cricket Productionz, the company of music producer Alvaro “Cricket” Venegas (Peso Pluma), has signed a global distribution and artist partnership deal with Warner Music Latina. Under the deal, Cricket will release a debut album for his artist project in 2024.

TR/ST, the electronic pop project of Robert Alfons, has signed with Dais Records, which released his latest single, “Robrash,” on Dec. 13. An EP release is planned for next year. TR/ST is managed by Shabnam Mohammad at 724 and Gary Walker at Monotone, with booking by Chris Danis and Avery McTaggart at TBA for North America and Matt Copely in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. TR/ST previously had a label deal with Grouch.

Red Bull Records has signed South London R&B singer-songwriter James Vickery, who most recently released the EP Sheet Music in March. Vickery is managed by Alex Lewis at Lemon Music.

Singer-songwriter and Texas native Laci Kaye Booth has signed with Geffen Records and also aligned with Red Light Management for management and WME for booking. – Jessica Nicholson

Korn member Brian “Head” Welch launched a new label, XOVR Records (pronounced Crossover Records), alongside his longtime personal manager, David W. Williams. The label’s first signing is the rock band Spoken featuring Welch’s Love and Death bandmate JR Bareis. The group will release its tenth album, Reflection, via XOVR on Mar. 15. Spoken is managed and booked by Williams.

Australian post-punk band HighSchool has signed to [PIAS], which released the group’s latest single, “August 19,” on Dec. 5. HighSchool is managed by Rich Walker at 4AD and Matt Brown at Stay Loose, with booking by Andy Cook at CAA.

Kanine Records signed New York quintet Punchlove, which released the single “Dead Lands” via the label on Dec. 6.

Professional rodeo cowboy-turned-country artist Gunnar Latham has signed with Bob Doyle & Associates for management. Latham is booked by Chad Kudelka at CAA; he currently has no label.

Danish-Japanese artist Ida Kudo has signed with Pasadena Records, which will release her new EP, Proud, on Apr. 19 via a joint venture with Denmark’s Nordic Music Society. Her latest single, “The Power That Is Woman,” is out now.

Brooklyn-based alt-country songwriter Emily Frembgen signed to Don Giovanni Records, which recently released her single “Fentanyl.” The label will release Frembgen’s debut album next year.

Absolutely Kosher Records has signed Memphis duo Nonconnah, marking the first signing since the label’s relaunch this fall following a 12-year absence. New music is coming from the duo next year.

Maria Becerra Signs With Wasserman Music for Global Representation

Argentine singer-songwriter Maria Becerra has signed with Wasserman Music for representation worldwide (except in Mexico, Chile and Argentina), the talent agency announced on Thursday (Dec. 14). She will be represented by agents Juan Toro and Ryan Soroka.

The deal caps off a significant 2023 for Becerra who in May signed a label deal with Warner Music Latina, in a joint venture with 300 Entertainment, followed by an exclusive administration deal with Warner Chappell Music in August. In May, Becerra received the visionary award at the inaugural Billboard Latin Women in Music gala.

The 23-year-old rising star — known for fusing pop, cumbia villera, bachata and reggaeton — broke in 2019 with her EP 222. Two years later, she released her debut album, Animal, featuring collaborations with artists such as Cazzu, Becky G and Tiago PZK. The set earned Becerra a Latin Grammy nomination for best urban music album.
