Oscar-nominated actor Kate Hudson has signed with Virgin Music Group for her recorded music debut. The first single under the deal, “Talk About Love” — co-written by Hudson with Linda Perry and Danny Fujikawa — was released on Tuesday (Jan. 30). Hudson is managed by Jason Owen and Jake Basen at Sandbox Entertainment Group.
33 & West Talent Agency is expanding its music roster. In a signing spree, the company has announced the addition of rapper Dharius, rap group La Santa Grifa and hip-hop artist Charles Ans. According to the company, the addition of the three Mexican acts “reinforces the agency’s existing Latin music roster and further signifies 33 & West’s commitment to diversity, aligning with the growing influence and the overdue recognition of Latin artists in the United States.” – Griselda Flores

ADA UK has signed emerging U.K. rapper Nemzzz to an album deal. The company has also signed a deal with Dutch EDM DJ Chuckie and his Voltage label. Nemzzz is booked by Craig D’Souza at WME. Chuckie is represented by managers Sergio Bienati and Kevin Harris at Club Class as well as booking agents Simon Halliwell and Aaron Cook at Active Talent Agency (Europe and Asia); Charlie Irwin at Spin Artist Agency (United States); and Sophie van Deventer at Storm Agency (Benelux).

German American indie-pop artist Noah “NoMBe” McBeth has signed a global record deal with Position Music. His first single with the company, “Space for Two,” is slated for release on Friday (Feb. 9). NoMBe is managed by Eric Vogel and James Hadid at JET Management and booked by Alex Becket and Mike Mori at CAA. He is also signed to Position for publishing.

Nettwerk has signed L.A.-based indie-pop artist renforshort and L.A.-based singer-songwriter Rose Betts. Renforshort’s first release on the label will be “serpentine” and Betts’ will be “War,” with both tracks set to drop on Friday (Feb. 9). Renforshort is represented by Riley Kirkwood at CAMP Management and agents Zac Bluestone and Tom Windish at Wasserman. Betts is represented by Jeremy Skaller, Jared Cotter and Madison Bickel at The Heavy Group and agents David Zedick, Alana Gitt and Akhil Hegde at UTA.

Phil Vassar has signed with agents Nick Meinema and Travis James at Action Entertainment Collaborative for global booking representation. Vassar is kicking off his 2024 tour on Feb. 29 in Savery, Wyo. He is managed by Amy Millslagle; his label is American Soul.

Baton Rouge, La.-based singer-songwriter Odie Leigh has signed with Mom + Pop, which released her new song, “No Doubt,” on Jan. 25. Leigh is represented by manager Eric Jones at Homestead Artists and booked by Wasserman’s Yitzi Peetluk and Lindsay McDowell in North America, and by the agency’s Rob Challice and Laura Flynn in the United Kingdom and the European Union.

Athens, Ga.-based indie rock band Futurebirds has signed a global recording deal with Dualtone Records, a MNRK Music Group company. A new album is slated for release later this year. The band is represented by Dawson Morris at GT Music Group and Jon Prine at Wasserman.

Nashville-based management company Big Al Management, led by founder/CEO Alex Evelyn, has signed CMT Next Women of Country alum Camille Parker to its roster. Parker recently released her debut EP and was featured on Apple TV’s original series My Kind of Country. – Jessica Nicholson

Country singer-songwriter Auburn McCormick has signed with the newly launched, Nashville-based label Rose & Thorn Records, founded by Connor Rankin and co-founded by Jared Scott.

Rock band Shinedown has expanded its deal with WME by signing a global deal with the agency, which previously represented the band in the United States and Canada only.
“The touring industry is ever evolving, and live music and performance means everything to us. I have said it before, and I will say it again… Shinedown only has one boss, it just happens to be everyone in the audience,” said Shinedown vocalist Brent Smith in a statement. “We have been working with Ron Opaleski at WME in the United States and Canada for many years. We feel now is the time to take our partnership global. We are extremely honored and excited to be working with Lucy Dickins and her international team at WME. We are fully focused on the future and we are ready to go!!!”

Earlier this month, Shinedown extended its record for the most No. 1s in the history of Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart when it again hit the peak with “A Symptom of Being Human,” the band’s 19th leader on the tally. Its most recent album, Planet Zero (Atlantic Records), debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in July 2022, marking the group’s fifth top 10 album.

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alex G has signed with RCA Records. The announcement coincided with the unveiling of Alex G’s 2024 North American tour, which kicks off June 7 at New York’s Governors Ball; he’s also slated to support Foo Fighters on select dates of the band’s Everything or Nothing At All U.S. stadium tour. Alex G is managed by Tyler Richman at weekday and booked in North and South America by Greg Horbal at Wasserman Music; Matt Pickering-Copley at Primary Talent International books him for the rest of the world.

Sixpence None the Richer (“Kiss Me”) has signed with Deep South Entertainment for management after reuniting for the first time in 12 years. The news arrived with the announcement that the band’s hit 1997 self-titled album will be re-released on vinyl by Curb Records.

MNRK Music Group has signed Indian singer-songwriter Guru Randhawa for management in partnership with Randhawa’s Mumbai, India-based management firm Exceed Entertainment. Randhawa is represented by CAA for booking; his label is T-Series.

Canadian reggae-fusion band MAGIC! has signed with ONErpm, which will release all of the group’s future projects globally. The group’s first release on ONErpm is the track “Good Feeling About You,” which will appear on the band’s forthcoming album, Inner Love Energy, slated for release later this year. MAGIC! is booked by Seth Rappaport at Paladin Artists.

Norteño group Código FN has signed a management deal with Gorge Prajin‘s Prajin Parlay, the management company home to Peso Pluma, Santa Fe Klan and Jasiel Nuñez, among others. Prajin Parlay works in partnership with Peso Pluma’s record label, Double P Records. The five-member group — composed of Ernesto Tito León, Danny León, Ramiro Luna, Martín Parra and Manuel Villalpando — blends tumbado and bachata styles into the traditional accordion-powered norteño sound. – Griselda Flores

Verve Label Group has announced two new signings: indie singer-songwriter Phosphorescent (aka Matthew Huock) to Verve Records and experimental jazz-punk trio The Messthetics to Impulse! Records. Verve Records will release Phosphorescent’s upcoming album, Revelator, on Apr. 15, preceded by the title track on Jan. 24. Impulse! will release Messthetics’ new song, “Emergence,” on Jan. 24, and their upcoming album on Mar. 15. Phosphorescent is represented by manager Nick Stern and booked by CAA. The Messthetics is booked by Timmy Hefner at Ground Control Touring.

Regional Mexican newcomer Los Esquivel has signed a management deal with WK NXT, a division under WK Entertainment spearheaded by Chris Duque and Renato Francis. The new partnership includes co-management and worldwide bookings with Seitrack and an exclusive deal with Zamora Live for U.S. bookings. Most recently, Los Esquivel — composed of brothers Sebastian and Eugenio Esquivel — scored its first entry on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart with “Alucin,” a collaboration with Marca Registrada, which landed at No. 49 on the tally dated Jan. 27. – Griselda Flores

James Vincent McMorrow has signed a label deal with Nettwerk. The news arrived alongside the announcement of his forthcoming single, “Stay Cool,” which will be released on Friday (Jan. 26). McMorrow is managed by Ken Allen and Michael Roe at Faction Music.

North African and Middle Eastern artist Mohamed Ramadan has signed a partnership with Wassim “Sal” Slaiby‘s music management company SALXCO in a deal that includes booking representation. The signing coincides with the announcement of “Akwaba,” Ramadan’s official anthem (alongside Magic System and Yemi Alade) for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations soccer competition. His label is Universal Arabic Music.

South African artist Maxwell Jardine, who performs as 9lives, has signed to PULSE Music Group, which released his latest single, “MULTIMILLIONAIRE” with Trippie Redd and Odetari, on Friday (Jan. 19). 9Lives is represented by manager Dan Woolston of Higher Ground MGMT and booking agents James Gosnell and Mitch Blackman at APA.

Singer-songwriter Michael Marcagi (“The Other Side.”) has signed with Warner Records, which released his latest single, “Scared to Start,” on Jan. 12. Marcagi is managed by Andrew Marcagi and Alex Brahl and represented by Joe Atamian and Geoff Meal at Wasserman for booking.

Grammy-nominated composer, songwriter and producer Stephan Moccio has signed with Decca/Republic Records under a joint agreement. On May 10, he will release a new album, Legends, Myths and Lavendar, with “The Wanderer” serving as its first single. In addition to his solo output, Moccio has collaborated with artists including Miley Cyrus, Céline Dion and The Weeknd.

Singer-songwriter Chase McDaniel signed to Big Machine Records, which will release his new EP, Blame It All on Country Music, on Friday (Jan. 26). McDaniel is represented by manager Kevin Spellman at Vector and booking agent Kevin Neal at WME.

Gavin DeGraw has signed with Sony Music Nashville on the heels of his latest EP, A Classic Christmas. DeGraw, who was previously on Sony’s RCA Records, is managed by Haley McElmore and JT Pratt at Otter Creek Entertainment.
ADA Worldwide‘s Latin division has signed a global distribution agreement with Mexican music star Alicia Villarreal and her label, Camixes Entertainment. The deal marks Villarreal’s return to releasing music after a seven-year hiatus. Her first independent single, “Ojo Por Ojo,” was released last month, while a new album is expected out next year. Villarreal is booked and managed by Apodaca Group.

Rock artist Two Feet has launched an independent record label, 477 Records, and signed emerging talent including Bec Lauder, Toby Mai and Elvis Drew. The label will also release Two Feet’s upcoming music, including the new single “Kill Anyone” feat. Ari Abdul. Two Feet is booked by Jay Moss and Steph Aristakesian at Wasserman and managed by G.D. Dess; Lauder is represented by NEXT Management.

19 Recordings and BMG signed Haven Madison, a top 8 finalist on Season 21 of American Idol who performed original songs including “Fifteen” and “Still Need You” on the series. Madison, who independently released the EP All the Things I Didn’t Say in 2022, is managed by Third Wave Music Group.

Cricket Productionz, the company of music producer Alvaro “Cricket” Venegas (Peso Pluma), has signed a global distribution and artist partnership deal with Warner Music Latina. Under the deal, Cricket will release a debut album for his artist project in 2024.

TR/ST, the electronic pop project of Robert Alfons, has signed with Dais Records, which released his latest single, “Robrash,” on Dec. 13. An EP release is planned for next year. TR/ST is managed by Shabnam Mohammad at 724 and Gary Walker at Monotone, with booking by Chris Danis and Avery McTaggart at TBA for North America and Matt Copely in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. TR/ST previously had a label deal with Grouch.

Red Bull Records has signed South London R&B singer-songwriter James Vickery, who most recently released the EP Sheet Music in March. Vickery is managed by Alex Lewis at Lemon Music.

Korn member Brian “Head” Welch launched a new label, XOVR Records (pronounced Crossover Records), alongside his longtime personal manager, David W. Williams. The label’s first signing is the rock band Spoken featuring Welch’s Love and Death bandmate JR Bareis. The group will release its tenth album, Reflection, via XOVR on Mar. 15. Spoken is managed and booked by Williams.

Australian post-punk band HighSchool has signed to [PIAS], which released the group’s latest single, “August 19,” on Dec. 5. HighSchool is managed by Rich Walker at 4AD and Matt Brown at Stay Loose, with booking by Andy Cook at CAA.

Kanine Records signed New York quintet Punchlove, which released the single “Dead Lands” via the label on Dec. 6.

Professional rodeo cowboy-turned-country artist Gunnar Latham has signed with Bob Doyle & Associates for management. Latham is booked by Chad Kudelka at CAA; he currently has no label.

Danish-Japanese artist Ida Kudo has signed with Pasadena Records, which will release her new EP, Proud, on Apr. 19 via a joint venture with Denmark’s Nordic Music Society. Her latest single, “The Power That Is Woman,” is out now.

Brooklyn-based alt-country songwriter Emily Frembgen signed to Don Giovanni Records, which recently released her single “Fentanyl.” The label will release Frembgen’s debut album next year.

Absolutely Kosher Records has signed Memphis duo Nonconnah, marking the first signing since the label’s relaunch this fall following a 12-year absence. New music is coming from the duo next year.

Brazilian DJ, producer and entrepreneur Vintage Culture has signed with WME for global representation.
Known for creating house and techno blends, Vintage Culture has played festivals including Coachella and Tomorrowland and recently completed the second year of his residency at Hï Ibiza. This year, he also launched Vintage Is a Festival, an event that has rolled out to five major cities in Brazil and will hit São Paulo next month. He founded his own record label and festival brand, Só Track Boa, and also has a partnership with electronic music and lifestyle brand Born of Music Addiction.

Earlier this year, Vintage Culture announced his forthcoming debut album and released “If I Live Forever” featuring Izzy Bizzu, the first single off the LP. Elsewhere, he’s collaborated with and remixed artists including the late Maxi Jazz, Rufus Du Sol, John Summit, Meduza, The Martinez Brothers & Louie Vega, Diplo, Roland Clark, Aurora, Sonny Fodera, Claptone, James Hype, Annabel Englund and Solardo.

Country singer-songwriter Charlie Worsham signed with UTA for global representation in all areas. Worsham is signed to Warner Music Nashville, which released his latest project, the EP Compadres, in October. He continues to tour as part of Dierks Bentley’s band and was recently nominated for the CMA award for musician of the year.

Nettwerk signed a trio of new artists: singer-songwriter-guitarist Lily Meola (America’s Got Talent), singer-songwriter-producer Bryce Fox and Scottish duo SAINT PHNX (brothers Alan and Stevie Jukes). Meola is managed by Blaike Ford and Jordy Dettmer at Range Media Partners and Jeffrey Evans and Jackson Lauer at Buskin Entertainment, with booking by Corrie Martin at Wasserman; her A&Rs at Nettwerk are Eric Robinson, Marshall Altman and Meg Tarquinio. Fox is managed by Scott Sheldon, Berko Pearce and Peyton Marek at RM 64; his Nettwerk A&Rs are Dan Fraser and Mark Jowett. Country artist LECADE (real name Cade Brinkley) signed with 10th Street Entertainment (which also represents Bailey Zimmerman) for management. An independent country artist with hip-hop roots, LECADE released his debut album, Chasing Ghosts, in 2022. He is signed to Big Machine Records, which recently released his debut on the label, “Next Town Over.” Elsewhere, he’s represented by Joey Lee, Alex Luebbert and Kevin Meads at WME for booking and FBMM for business management.

U.K.-based brother-sister duo Wasia Project (William and Olivia Hardy) renewed their label deal with AWAL, which will release their upcoming debut album. The alt-pop duo previously released their debut EP, how can i pretend?, which featured the single “ur so pretty.” They are managed by Rob Swerdlow and booked by Tom Windish and Zac Bluestone at Wasserman Music for the United States, where they’re planning to headline shows next year.

Boeckner, the new solo project from Daniel Boeckner (who has played in Wolf Parade, Operators, Divine Fits and Handsome Furs), signed with Sub Pop for the release of his debut album in early 2024. He is booked by in the United States by Trey Many at Wasserman and in Canada by Steven Himmelfarb at The Feldman Agency.

Rapper TyFontaine signed with MNRK Music Group, which will release his new mixtape, 264, on Dec. 1. He joins MNRK after a period of releasing music independently; he was previously signed to Internet Money. His new single, “DOS,” is a collaboration with Summrs, Joony and TTM Dawg. He is managed and booked by Taryn “P” Smith.

Genre-fluid artist GARZI signed with Sumerian Records, which dropped his new single, “GrowinUp” featuring Memphis May Fire’s Matty Mullins. He is managed by Sean Chapman and Sid Sodin at The Sakai Group; his booking agent is Daniel McCartney at UTA. GARZI was previously signed to Outlast Records, an imprint of Sumerian.

Loren Kramar signed to Secretly Canadian, which released his latest single, “Hollywood Blvd.” He is booked by Erik Selz at Arrival Artists.

Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer-producer-musician A.R. Rahman has signed with WME, the agency tells Billboard.
Rahman’s work spans more than 160 film soundtracks and albums in more than half a dozen languages. His music has been featured in movies including Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, Roja, Bombay, Dil Se, Taal, Lagaan, Vandemataram, Jodhaa Akbar and Ponniyin Selvan (I & II). Over the course of his career, he has collaborated with artists including U2, Mick Jagger, Coldplay, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Michael Jackson, Michael Bolton, M.I.A., Vanessa Mae, the Pussycat Dolls, Sarah Brightman, Dido, Hossam Ramzy, Hans Zimmer and Akon. His band also recently enjoyed two sold-out tours: one in the United States in 2022, and the other in Europe this year.

For Slumdog Millionaire alone, Rahman won two Oscars, two Grammys, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA, among other awards.

Rahman’s orchestral compositions have been performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Babelsberg Film Orchestra and the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, he was commissioned by the Seattle Symphony to create “The Flying Lotus,” his first composition solely for orchestra.

In addition to music, last year, Rahman directed India’s first-ever virtual reality movie, Le Music, and co-wrote and produced the 2019 film 99 Songs, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival.

Rahman also works to inspire and nurture new talent via initiatives including the all-women Firdaus Orchestra — supported by United Arab Emirates Excellency Reem Al Hashimy — and the A. R. Rahman Foundation, which is dedicated to providing underprivileged children with music education. The foundation currently funds the KM Music Conservatory and its youth symphony, Sunshine Orchestra.

MGMT signed with Mom + Pop Music, the duo’s new label after a long run with Columbia Records. Mom + Pop will release the band’s fifth studio album, Loss of Life, on Feb. 23. The album is preceded by first single, “Mother Nature,” which is out now. Loss of Life will also include the track “Dancing in Babylon” featuring Christine and the Queens, marking the first-ever feature on an MGMT album. The new LP, the duo’s first since 2018’s Little Dark Age, was produced by Patrick Wimberly and mixed by Dave Fridmann.

New Zealand-Australian singer-songwriter-producer Jordan Rakei signed a long-term global record deal with Decca and Verve Forecast, which just released his latest single, “Flowers.” The Grammy-nominated artist has released a total of four studio albums; he was previously signed to Ninja Tune.

Texas rapper BigXthaPlug signed with Solid Foundation Management, making him the first artist outside of Quality Control Music to join the firm’s roster. Solid Foundation partner Brandon Farmer will co-manage the rapper alongside his current manager, Kyle Wilson. “Solid Foundation is open for business,” said Farmer in a statement on the signing. “There was a previous perception that Solid Foundation Management was exclusive to QC artists, but that’s no longer the case. We are here to work with anyone who is a good fit and is interested in our services.”

Chinese pop star Eason Chan renewed his contract with Universal Music Greater China. The announcement followed the release of Chan’s first studio album in five years, CHIN UP!, on Oct. 27. He has been with Universal Music Group for more than 19 years, first signing to Universal Music Hong Kong’s CinePoly label; he has since released a total of 22 albums and EPs. Chan is managed by Lisa Kan.

K-pop group KARD signed with UTA for representation in North America, South America, the United Kingdom and Europe. The group released its debut project in 2016. Its first mini-album, Hola Hola, hit the music charts in 32 countries only three hours after its release, according to a press release.

Austin Williams, known for his breakthrough song “Wanna Be Saved,” partnered with CAA for booking representation. The Nashville native signed to Missi Gallimore and Jim Wilkes’ T.R.U.T.H. Management Projects/Promotion and indie label Truth or Dare Records earlier this year. He also issued his debut EP, Wanna Be Saved, in September. – Jessica Nicholson

UMG Nashville signed Fort Worth, Texas native and singer-songwriter Louie Thesinger. “Having witnessed Louie’s magnetic charisma translate on stages across this country and watch the rabid fan base he is building, I know that Louie is going to widen the country music audience,” UMG Nashville chair/CEO Cindy Mabe said in a statement. “I am so inspired by Louie’s energy, purpose, and intention to expand the sound of country music through his own personal story and his songs. I am so proud to bring Louie into the Universal Music Group Nashville family!”

L.A.-based indie-pop artist Kacy Hill signed with Nettwerk, which released her new single, “No One,” on Friday (Nov. 3). Hill is managed by Michael Kadziulis of YMU Group; her booking agent is Spencer Pinson at Arrival Artists.

Music-licensing company Epidemic Sound has signed Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jordin Sparks, the company tells Billboard. Under the deal, Sparks will collaborate with Epidemic’s in-house team — including musicians, producers and A&Rs — to create a collection of “classic Christmas songs” to be released later this year, with Epidemic distributing. The tracks will be made available to Epidemic’s global community of content creators along with being released to all streaming platforms.

“We are thrilled to announce this partnership with Jordin Sparks. Jordin is an extraordinary superstar who has significantly impacted the music industry,” said John Cleary, Epidemic’s director of music recruitment & music U.S., in a statement. “Creators, filmmakers, marketers, and storytellers know the power of music in telling a compelling story, and they seek amazing music to elevate their content. By collaborating with Jordin, Epidemic Sound can continue catering to content creators’ needs while simultaneously amplifying her artistry globally and unveiling her tracks to our global ecosystem of creators and international fanbase.”

Sparks rose to fame after winning season 6 of American Idol and has since released three Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles including “No Air” with Chris Brown, “Tattoo” and “Battlefield.” According to a press release, she’ has’s sold more than 10 million tracks in the United States alone. In 2014, Sparks won a BMI Pop Award in 2014 for co-writing Ariana Grande and Mac Miller‘s hit single, “The Way.”

“I’m excited for this new partnership with Epidemic Sound,” said Sparks in her own statement. “They have empowered artists to thrive commercially, creatively and to reach new audiences. The freedom they give artists to choose their own path and work on different projects at the same time is unique and inspiring. I’m excited to join a roster of incredible artists and I’m looking forward to working with Epidemic Sound’s team!”

Epidemic Sounds’ remuneration model offers upfront payments, a 50-50 royalty split from streaming revenue and a quarterly soundtrack bonus. The company allows artists to work under non-exclusive agreements.

Bryce Leatherwood, winner of season 22 of NBC’s The Voice, signed with Universal Music Group Nashville in alliance with Republic Records. His label debut, “The Finger,” releases Oct. 27. Leatherwood is also signed with Morris Higham Management, CAA, Sony Music Publishing and O’Neil Hagaman. – Jessica Nicholson

Canadian singer-songwriter ThxSoMch signed with UTA for global representation in all areas. His track “Spit in My Face!” has been certified platinum by the RIAA, broke into the Billboard Hot 100 and hit No. 9 on Billboard‘s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. His most recent singles include “Caroline,” “Hate” and “Crumbled,” while his debut EP, Sleez, was released May 19. ThxSoMch is signed to Elektra Records.

Berlin-based composer-producer Ben Böhmer signed to Ninja Tune, which just released his new single, “One Last Call” featuring Felix Raphael.

Swedish singer-songwriter Winona Oak signed to Nettwerk, which released her new single, “With Or Without You,” on Oct. 20. Oak is signed to The Very Good and PostOak LA for management, with booking by CAA in the United States and Wasserman in Europe.

Nettwerk also signed Toronto-based bedroom pop artist Peach Luffe (born Jong Lee). The classically-trained violinist released his latest single on the label, “Say It Back,” on Oct. 20. He’s managed by Michael MadConald at Lonely Beach and was previously signed to Lonely Beach Club; he’s slated to play next year’s South by Southwest.

Lastly at Nettwerk, the label signed Chicago-based singer-songwriter Wic Whitney. His first release under the label, “Ooolong,” marks the first single from his forthcoming EP, Afternoon Tea, which is slated to drop on Jan. 12. Whitney is managed by Colby Carlson.

Night Tales signed with Empire Dance and will drop a crossover single, “Work It Out” featuring Champion DI, on Friday (Oct. 27). The group is managed by the team at Prime Artists, including leaders Harrison Bamel, Adam Lynn and Zach Ruben, with booking by Hunter Williams and Jenna Adler at CAA. Night Tales was previously signed to Sony Music’s Ultra Records.

Easier Said, a recently-formed dance and rhythmic label founded by A&R exec Dominique Keegan, signed Party Pupils and will release the group’s new song, “Girlfriend” featuring MAX, bbno$ and MILLI. The label is an imprint of Firebird Music and has also released music by artists including Ian Asher, NALA, Roland Clark, Riva Starr and Maya Jane Coles.

Chicago-based indie band Brigitte Calls Me Baby signed to ATO Records, which will release its debut EP, This House Is Made of Corners, on Nov. 3. The group is managed by Phil Costello at Red Light; booking is handled by Jackie Nalpant and Kiely Mosiman at Wasserman in the United States and David Exley at Wasserman in the United Kingdom and European Union.

Global distribution and artist and label services company The Orchard recently expanded its operations in Africa and, as part of that move, signed a global distribution deal with Ghanian duo R2Bees.

Massachusetts-based rapper Millyz partnered with Create Music Group, which put out his new singles, “Passion” and “Soul Bleed” featuring DeeBaby. Millyz is managed by Ceize Gemini, Bryce Raines and Jeremy Karelis, with booking handled by Ashley Ventura at MAC Agency. His previous distributor was Perfect Time Music Group.

Singer-songwriter Fancy Hagood (“Blue Dream Baby” featuring Kacey Musgraves) signed with UTA for global representation in all areas.

New York-based singer-songwriter Odetta Hartman signed to Transgressive Records, which will release her second studio album, Swansongs, on March 22. The first single from the set, “Dr. No,” was released Oct. 17.

Australia-based singer-songwriter Kirin J Callinan signed with [PIAS] via his record label, Worse Records, for the release of his fourth album, If I Could Sing.

Indie rock band Brother Elsey signed to Nashville-based independent label River House Artists. The group’s inaugural releases on the label are the tracks “Passing Through” and “Babylon.” The group, which is currently on a U.S. tour through November, is managed by Jay Emmons and Jerrod Wilkins, with Grace Stern and Jay Williams at WME handling booking.

Singer-songwriter Dan Smalley signed with ONErpm Nashville, which will release a series of singles leading up to his next full-length album, The State of Country Music, next year.

South Korean pianist Yunchan Lim signed with Decca Classics. Last year, the 18-year-old became the youngest-ever winner of the Vin Cliburn International Piano Competition in Texas. He will soon make his debut at Carnegie Hall and is also slated to perform with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris alongside and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He’ll release his debut album with Decca in spring 2024. Lim is represented by Nicholas Mathias and Federico M. Benigni at IMG Artists and in Korea by Sam Lee at MOC Production.

Wishy, a new band formed by Indiana songwriters Kevin Krauter and Nina Pitchkites, signed to Winspear, which will release the duo’s debut EP, Paradise, on Dec. 15. The single “Donut” is out now.

Belarusian violinist Yevgeny Kutick signed with Epstein Fox Performances for North American and general management.

Black River Records signed Scotty Hasting to its roster. Hasting’s label debut single, “How Do You Choose,” will release Nov. 3. – Jessica Nicholson

Singer-songwriter Maggie Rose, known for her blend of rock, soul and Americana/folk stylings, has signed with Big Loud Records.
The deal is the latest under the label’s aim to sign talent in an array of genres, including Americana, pop, folk, alt-country, and more. Big Loud Records vp of A&R Nate Yetton is leading those efforts, with Rose being among Yetton’s first new signings, following the label’s signing of Charles Wesley Godwin earlier this year.

Rose, who is managed by Starstruck Entertainment, is set to join a nationwide tour with St. Paul & The Broken Bones and promises new music soon. Rose has been a Nashville mainstay, having played the Grand Ole Opry nearly 100 times, and was recently elected as governor of the Recording Academy’s Nashville chapter. Her multi-genre talents have led her to performance slots on festivals including Newport Folk Fest, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and more.

Rose said in a statement, “Big Loud dove in headfirst and defied my preconceived notions of what I’d come to expect from a big label; they didn’t want me to change the music I was working on or ‘chase’ the trends. They understood the vision and believed in me from the outset. I’m so excited for this new chapter.”

Yetton added, “Maggie is a world-class vocalist, performer, and songwriter. Earlier this year I was privileged enough to hear her new, unreleased album, and after one listen through, I knew that we had to find a way to partner with her and release this body of work via Big Loud Records. British rapper Central Cee (“Doja,” “Sprinter”) signed with Wasserman Music for global representation. His agents are Brent Smith, Lauren Marker, Tom Schroeder and Jesse Fayne. The deal follows the rapper’s signing to Columbia Records and Sony Music U.K. in June.

Dominican rapper El Alfa (popularly known as “The King of Dembow”) signed an eight-figure deal with royalty-financing company Sound Royalties ahead of his forthcoming album, El Rey Del Dembow, as well as a multi-city tour slated for this fall. “This multi-million-dollar funding will be instrumental in continuing to build my legacy and cement my influence in the Latin music space,” said El Alfa in a statement. “Beyond that, it is foundational for promoting and marketing my music, launching new career opportunities, and releasing more work through my own music label, El Jefe Records.”

Singer-songwriter-producer-DJ Mayer Hawthorne signed with Las Vegas-based MAC Agency. Hawthorne recently announced a forthcoming tour as well as the release of his sixth studio album, For All Time, on Oct. 27. He made his MAC Agency debut at Vegas’ Park On Fremont last month. Hawthorne is managed by ATC Management and signed to P&L Records.

Independent record label Absolutely Kosher is relaunching after a 12-year absence with a slate of new releases and initiatives for the 25th anniversary of its founding. Releases announced at launch include new music from singer-songwriter-producer Charles Bissell — who released the album Meadowlands from his former band, the Wrens, on Absolutely Kosher in 2003 — now recording under the name Car Colors; as well as Sybris, the Chicago band that released its album Into the Trees on Absolutely Kosher in 2008. The reanimated label will also put out two previously-released albums on vinyl for the first time: Edinburgh School for the Death‘s New Youth Bible and Brabrabra‘s Mangooona. Absolutely Kosher has a global deal with Downtown Music Holdings’ FUGA for distribution.

Rock-pop outfit Hey Violet signed with Hopeless Records, which will release the group’s next single, “I Should Call My Friends,” on Friday (Oct. 13). Hey Violet was previously signed to Capitol Records.

PPL signed Afrobeats star Libianca, producer-songwriter-artist Lewis Thompson and British pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason for international royalty collections. PPL licenses recorded music when it gets played in public as well as on the radio or TV in the United Kingdom. It also collects neighboring rights royalties for performers and recording rightsholders when their music is played around the world through agreements with collective management organizations (CMOs) in other countries.

Hip-hop supergroup CZARFACE — comprised of Inspectah Deck, Esoteric and 7L — and its record label, Silver Age, signed a global deal with Virgin Music for the release of the group’s next studio album. The trio is managed by Dustin Winegardner.

Alt-pop singer BIZZY signed to Big Loud Rock, the alternative/rock imprint of Big Loud Records. The news was accompanied by her latest single, “I Don’t Get Breakups.” BIZZY is managed by Nicolette McCann at TWIST Music Group.

Big Loud Records also signed singer-songwriter Zandi Holup to its roster. Holup, who released the song “Gas Station Flowers” on Friday (Oct. 6), recently signed a publishing deal with Arthouse Entertainment and TurnTable Music in partnership with Universal Music Publishing. Her booking agents are Marissa Smith and Josh Garrett at UTA.

French psychedelic rock band SLIFT signed to Sub Pop, which will release the trio’s upcoming third album, ILION, on Jan. 19, 2024. The title track is now out on all digital service providers. SLIFT is managed by Hélène Maigné, who also handles the band’s booking in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland and North America. Beth Morton and Oliver Ward at UTA are responsible for bookings in the rest of the world.

Singer-songwriter Ivan Theva signed to Descendent Records/Sony Music Entertainment, which will release his debut album, GARDENS, on Oct. 27. Theva is represented by Steve Ford at SF3 Management and Kevin Castleman at Reliant Talent for booking.

New York-based pop singer-songwriter Angélica Garcia signed to Partisan Records. The deal was announced along with the release of two new tracks: “Y Grito” and “El Que.” Garcia is managed by Tim Vigon and Riley Moriarty at Three Six Zero, with Frank Riley at High Road handling booking. She was previously signed to Spacebomb.

Country music trio The Castellows — comprised of sisters Ellie, Powell and Lily — signed with Make Wake Artists for management and WME for booking. According to a press release, the group has built a following of more than 1 million across social media platforms after releasing several covers highlighting their vocal harmonies. At Make Wake, Chris Kappy will serve as manager while HB Riordan will handle day-to-day. At WME, the band’s representatives will include Nashville office co-head/partner Joey Lee and agents Kanan Vitolo and Kevin Falck.

Alt-rock band House Parties signed with Equal Vision Records, which will release its forthcoming single, “Braindead,” on Thursday (Oct. 12).
