Rolling Loud
After closing out 2024 by treating Miami to an explosive 10th anniversary lineup that included cinematic headlining sets from Travis Scott, Future and Playboi Carti, Rolling Loud is set to mount its seventh California showing on March 15 and 16 at Hollywood Park, on the grounds adjacent to SoFi Stadium, in Inglewood, Calif.
Playboi Carti — who debuted new tracks from his forthcoming I Am Music album during his 2024 Rolling Loud Miami headlining set — will return as a headliner for Rolling Loud California this year alongside Grammy-winning música Mexicana superstar Peso Pluma and Billboard 200 chart-topper A$AP Rocky. Other notable performers include Quavo, Bossman Dlow, Sexyy Red, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, YG, OsamaSon, Hurricane Wisdom, Molly Santana, Skaiwater, Ski Mask the Slump God, Ab-Soul, 03 Greedo, Larry June, Dom Kennedy, Kamaiyah, Blxst, 310Babii and more.
This year, Rolling Loud California will shift to a two-day format. Fans can spend the weekend experiencing carnival rides, brand activations, art installations and more than 75 artist performances across three different stages for $179 (general admission, no hidden fees). VIP passes begin at $499.

“We’re excited to switch things up with a two-day format that keeps all the energy of Rolling Loud but makes it more affordable for our fans,” said Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, co-founders and co-CEOs of Rolling Loud, in a press release. “By cutting down a day, we can offer the same epic lineup, dope activations and unforgettable vibes at a price that’s easier on the wallet. At the end of the day, it’s all about making sure everyone can come together to celebrate hip-hop without breaking the bank.”
Rocky (2019) and Carti (2023) have previously headlined Rolling Loud California, while Peso Pluma makes history as the first non-hip-hop artist to headline any edition of the festival. Like Carti, Rocky also has an album that’s expected to arrive in 2025. In a Billboard cover story last year, the Harlem rapper described his long-awaited Don’t Be Dumb record as “the best album he’s ever made.” In June 2024, Peso Pluma unveiled Éxodo, his Grammy-nominated fourth studio album, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and placed 23 of its 24 tracks on Hot Latin Songs.
Rolling Loud Miami celebrated the festival’s 10th anniversary in style, with an enflamed Future, Playboi Carti’s bald backup dancers and Owen Wilson’s “FE!N” cameo emerging as the weekend’s defining images.
Passes go on sale on Friday, Jan. 10, at 12 p.m. PT, only on Rolling Loud California’s website.

Travis Scott was joined by a surprise guest Owen Wilson during his headlining set at Rolling Loud Miami 2024.
On Saturday (Dec. 14), the Houston rap star invited the Loki actor to the stage to perform “FE!N” from Scott’s 2023 album Utopia.
Fan-captured footage from the festival, held at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium, shows Wilson enthusiastically helping Scott deliver the high-energy track, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 2023.
“I’m feigning for more,” Owen shouted to the crowd, wearing a white hoodie, after briefly embracing Scott. The 56-year-old actor then jumped up and down to hype the audience as “FE!N” kicked off.

The surprise appearance comes amid news that Wilson is set to star in Rolling Loud, a film inspired by the annual music festival. The R-rated comedy, which also features comedian Matt Rife, follows an overprotective father (played by Wilson) who attends the festival with his 13-year-old son, a reckless co-worker (Rife) and a festival volunteer, according to Deadline. The film is written and directed by Jeremy Garelick.
It remains unclear if footage of Wilson’s onstage moment with Scott at Rolling Loud Miami will appear in the film.

The cameo added to the excitement surrounding Rolling Loud’s 10th anniversary celebration this year. Along with Scott, the 2024 Miami lineup featured headliners Future and Playboi Carti. Other performers included Metro Boomin, Lil Yachty, Don Toliver, Kodak Black, Sexyy Red, Lil Baby, Bryson Tiller, Shaboozey and Rich The Kid.
Next up, Scott is set to return to Coachella in 2025. In late November, the hip-hop superstar teased that he’ll be giving the festival grounds in Indio, Calif., a Cactus Jack makeover. He also hinted at a “new chapter,” where he’ll debut music from his upcoming era for fans at the Empire Polo Club.
Lil Uzi Vert is facing a lawsuit that claims they owe a music touring company more than $500,000 in unpaid bills, including for procuring more than two dozen adult dancers that the rapper demanded appear on stage at last year’s Rolling Loud festival in Miami.
In a complaint filed Thursday (June 13) in Georgia federal court, attorneys for M99 Studios say the company successfully worked with Lil Uzi Vert (Symere Bysil Woods) for years, often serving as a “fixer for all things” and keeping tours running despite “unrealistic” requests.
But M99 claims that the rapper and their company (Uzivert LLC) have failed to pay their bills for four concerts last year, including Rolling Loud in Miami and Roots Picnic in Lil Uzi’s native Philadelphia. “Despite its numerous requests for payment of the outstanding invoices, at no point have Uzivert and/or Artist compensated M99 for the services it provided,” the complaint reads.
Trending on Billboard
The costs incurred by M99 covered “unrealistic production requests just hours before the scheduled performances,” the company’s lawyers claim. That included finding “a bounce house, wooded crosses, and mannequins” for one show, and hiring 30 adult dancers to appear at Rolling Loud.
“M99 managed to fulfill this request, along with countless other last-minute demands all at significant time, effort and expense,” the company says.
For years, the lawsuit claims that Lil Uzi Vert “relied heavily on M99” for all “creative ideas, production, and staffing for all tours, shows and performances.” The lawsuit says the rapper would often fall behind on billing, and that M99 would often have to cover up for their financial shortcomings.
“While Artist’s account would work from time-to-time, his credit card would frequently be declined while on tour, making it impossible for M99 to ensure the safety and well-being of the crew without covering the expenses itself,” the company wrote.
M99 says it finally cut ties after an Australian tour, saying the company “decided not to bill for the Australian services in hopes of parting ways amicably.” But the earlier debts over the four American concerts were never paid, the lawsuit claims, despite repeated promises from the rapper’s longtime manager, Amina Diop.
“M99 respectfully requests that this Honorable Court enter judgment in its favor and against Uzivert and/or Artist in an amount to be determined at trial, but no less than $533,499,” the company’s lawyers wrote.
A rep for Lil Uzi Vert did not immediately return a request for comment from Billboard.
We caught up with That Mexican OT at Rolling Loud LA. The rapper spoke about performing with Bun B at the Houston Rodeo, representing Texas, and his “bad luck shorts.”Tetris Kelly:Hanging out at Rolling Loud with That Mexican OT. Man, I was just at the Houston Rodeo. You were with Bun B, killing it. How was it?
That Mexican OT:Yeah, it was cool, man. Shout-out to Bun for having me, bro. It’s definitely a blessing.
Tetris Kelly:And I talked to some people, some fans in the streets there, and they were saying that you represent Houston’s music really well, man. What do you feel about you and the culture that clicks so well?
That Mexican OT:It feels good, man. You know what I’m saying? Me being from Bay City, Texas, we’re just a tree branch from the tree, with Houston being the tree. So it’s a beautiful thing for me to be able to bring my home and bring it out to everywhere I go and them accept it. It’s cool.
Tetris Kelly:I’ve been enjoying watching the glow-up, you know. The New York Times called you one of the seven artists influencing music in 2024. What do you feel about your sound is really resonating with the fans out there?
That Mexican OT:Oh, I don’t know, man. I don’t really pay attention to that sh–. So I’m gonna say, who gives a f—, you know? But as long as y’all like it, you know, who gives a f—.
Tetris Kelly:First of all, I’m sorry that my brain went here, but as soon as you say I don’t give a sh–, I just thought about you sh–ting yourself.
That Mexican OTLI had “bad luck shorts.” I probably sh– on myself about four times as an adult wearing these shorts.
Tetris Kelly:Where the shorts at? Did you get rid of the shorts?
That Mexican OT:After the fourth time, we had to get rid of them.Watch the full video above!

North West was interviewed about her debut album, Elementary School Dropout, at Rolling Loud 2024.
North is the 10-year-old daughter of Ye — formerly known as Kanye West — and Kim Kardashian. Ye took the stage on opening night (Thursday, Mar. 14) of the festival at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif., with North and friends joining him at one point during the set.
In a clip shared by Rolling Loud on Instagram on Saturday, North is seen spending a few minutes with young reporter Jazlyn, aka Jazzy, the 13-year-old behind Jazzys World TV.

The interview was short and sweet.

First, North was asked how she was doing, to which she politely replied, “Good, how are you?”
The next question posed was about Elementary School Dropout — specifically, how the young artist feels about releasing an album, and what people should expect from it.
“It’s gonna be great,” North said.
When will Elementary School Dropout be released? Well, that’s apparently still up in the air.
“Like… I don’t know,” said North.
And when asked whether the project would have any collaborations with Ye, North continued to keep things cryptic: “Maybe! We don’t know yet!”
“Thank you Ms. @kimkardashian for helping out,” Jazzy captioned the video. In another post, she shared photos with both North and Kim.
North announced her album during a Vultures listening party in Phoenix on March 10, joining her dad on stage for “Talking,” the Vultures track on which she’s featured. “Talking” debuted at No. 30 on the Hot 100 with 12.33 million official U.S. streams in its first week of tracking; the Hot 100 entry made her one of the youngest artists to ever appear on the chart.
“I’ve been working on an album,” she shared with the crowd. “And it’s called Elementary School Dropout.”
Elementary School Dropout is an homage to her father’s 2004 album The College Dropout.

Kanye West may have appeased his most diehard fans last night at Rolling Loud, but he likely didn’t win over the millions of skeptics who were open to giving the “Carnival” rapper another chance following his behavior over the last two years.

When the Vultures 1 star took the stage at Rolling Loud Thursday night (Mar. 14) at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif., most weren’t expecting West to apologize for the hurtful, antisemitic comments he has made over the last few years.
However, he failed to do the one thing that more than 50,000 fans had come out expecting him to do: perform his music. Instead, he and Ty Dolla $ign, his collaborator on his new album, Vultures 1, took the stage without microphones and danced, vibed and waved their hands around while tracks from the album blared over the loudspeakers. In fact, neither artist rapped, sang or spoke during the performance, which took place during the annual hip-hop festival’s opening night.

Despite the insistence from West and his followers that Thursday’s performance was high art, most fans left the hour-long performance looking disappointed and confused.
“Was I just tricked?” Gloria Appel, 22, from El Segundo, Calif., asked her group of friends as they walked back to their cars. One of her companions offered that, if anything, it was fun dressing up with friends and going out for the night — prompting the group to nervously laugh before scurrying away.
There’s a larger performance art aspect to the show, Ty Dolla $ign suggested in an interview he and West gave to radio personality Big Boi for XXL released this morning but recorded prior to Thursday’s show. “It’s still better than other people’s shows that have a mic,” said Ty during the chat.
What does it mean to “perform” a concert in 2024, when DJs play prerecorded mixes and vocalists sing over backing tracks? For the last two months, Ye and Ty have made millions from hosting “listening party” events around the world — effectively the same thing they did Thursday night — in the process generating some praise and lots of press for West as he once again attempts to revive his career. It also puts cash in Ty’s pocket, who, on the Vultures 1 track “Paid,” fittingly raps: “I’m just here to get paid.”
That same quote was retweeted Thursday night by The Rolling Loud team who spent weeks dodging specifics on the show. What was communicated to fans was that the concert was supposed to be different than the listening parties. During an X Spaces session with fans on Feb. 28, Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif told participants, “I’m fully prepared for Ye to perform and Ty Dollar $ign to perform. Whether or not they decide to grab the mic is up to them. That’s what they’re contracted to do.” Afterward, for clarity, a rep for the festival confirmed with Billboard that West and Ty Dollar $ign were “contracted to perform a live performance.”
Even if West and Ty Dollar $ign didn’t rap or sing, they clearly invested the kind of money associated with a major headline concert. There were dozens of stage managers and production and front-of-house staff furiously directing the set as the artists wandererd on and off the specially created in-the-round style stage, which was wedged between the bright red exterior lights of the KIA Forum and the subtler hues of the multibillion-dollar SoFi Stadium. During the set, West roamed the stage in a black jacket and a face mask as Vultures 1 tracks played over the festival’s huge sound system. After he and Ty Dollar $ign exited the stage for good, an offstage DJ continued on, playing about 30 minutes worth of classic Kanye tracks including “N* in Paris,” “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” and “All of the Lights.”
Most fans watched the performance without any visible reaction, though some modestly applauded at times. From the start of the show, it was unclear what was happening on stage, and by the time it ended, around 10 p.m., about half the fans in attendance had already trickled out. Those remaining behind took their time walking the exceedingly long, winding fence maze back to their cars, with many overheard saying that while the show was not what they had hoped for, it was what they expected. Kanye wasn’t speaking to them any longer, one fan noted, and he probably wasn’t listening to them, either.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement for West, who has hired back former manager John Monopoly and is planning a global tour for 2024, according to a recent Billboard report.
Following the confusion on Thursday night, one thing is clear: If West isn’t going to perform live at his future shows, he should be more transparent about it. While he certainly entertained at least some of his fans, he did so with a bare minimum of effort and, ahead of the show, didn’t make any attempt to repudiate rumors that he was planning to sing and rap.
As West told Big Boi during their interview, he believes most fans are coming to his events “just for the experience.” He further noted that he wants to create more call-and-response style chants with the audience at his performances, but didn’t explain how he could do that without speaking on stage. He said a highlight of past listening parties was hearing attendees mimic the wailing chorus of “Carnival,” noting that fans have come up with their own chant: shouting “F— Adidas!” after the shoemaker cut ties with him in 2022.
As for which artist would open future concerts, West had a unique suggestion.
“The smoke is like an opener with the lights themself,” he told Big Boi as Ty Dolla $ign shook his head in approval. West probably meant to say “fog,” the industry term for the smoky effect created by atomizing glycerin-based fluids with mineral oil. West is certainly right about the substance’s appeal to fans. As many in the business say, the fog effect has almost no downside — it’s just here to get sprayed.
