Timbaland Reunites With Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake for ‘Keep Going Up!’: Stream It Now

If you see them in the club, they’ll be acting real nice — because they just reunited for a new collaboration.

That’s right, 16 years after TimbalandJustin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado unveiled their Billboard Hot 100 chart topper “Give It to Me” in 2007, the trio came together on Friday (Sept. 1) for their newest team-up, “Keep Going Up!”

Leading up to the release, Tim posted a teaser video for “Keep Going Up!,” which he captioned “WE BACK,” alongside peeking eyes and exploding head emojis. “Da king has returned!” The tease came a month after his Instagram post in which he and Timberlake hopped on a FaceTime call with Furtado while the pair worked on Tim’s upcoming sixth studio album.

“[Timbaland and Timberlake] had thought it out quite a lot,” Furtado previously told Billboard of working with her longtime musical collaborators. “What’s great about them is they’re like, ‘We want you to do your thing. We want you to lead the ship in that direction.’ Then they had some great music and parts together. If the three of us are on a song, then we’re all equals, and that’s a really good feeling.”

All three artists have released new music so far this year, with Timbaland teaming up with BIA in March on “I’m That B—-,” Furtado dropping the Dom Dolla-assissted “Eat Your Man” in June and Timberlake guesting on a remix of Coco Jones’ “ICU” in July.

Doja Cat Casts Out ‘Demons’ On New Single: Stream It Now

As she continues to ride “Paint the Town Red” to global chart success, Doja Cat is turning her “Attention” to “Demons” on her latest Scarlet single.

On Friday (Sept. 1), the Grammy-winning star released the third pre-release single from her forthcoming Scarlet album. The D.A. Got That Dope-produced track finds Doja continuing the death-minded imagery of “Paint the Town Red.”

Doja first teased “Demons” on Aug. 22 with an Instagram post that captured her shadow striking a fierce pose. In the post, Doja’s shadow dons a pair of devil horns. A follow-up post on Aug. 29 unveiled the official single artwork for “Demons,” a scene straight out of supernatural suburbia. Doja, completely covered in black, hangs upside down in the corner of an unassuming living room with the song’s title spelled out in vacuum streaks on the carpet. The music video for “Demons,” which stars Emmy-nominated Yellowjackets actress Christina Ricci, premiered alongside the release of the track.

“Demons,” “Paint the Town Red,” and “Attention” are all set to appear on Scarlet. Doja’s new album is her first full-length project since 2021’s Planet Her. That album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, spawned Billboard Hot 100 top ten singles like “Woman,” and won the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance for “Kiss Me More” (with SZA).

On Thursday (Aug. 31), Doja revealed the updated album cover for Scarlet. The original cover art featured a fittingly scarlet-colored spider, but Doja seemed to have deleted the post and changed the cover after fans noticed that German hardcore band Chaver also used the same spider on the artwork for their upcoming album cover.

Tinashe Reveals ‘BB/ANG3L’ Album Cover & Track List: Here’s When It Arrives

It’s about to be peak Tinashe season. After treating fans to a pair of sultry pre-release singles, Tinashe has revealed the track list and release date for her forthcoming sixth studio album.

The singer-songwriter shared the news on her Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) pages on Thursday (Aug. 31). Her new album, BB/ANG3L, is currently slated for a Sept. 8 release with a seven-song track list that includes the pre-release singles “Talk to Me Nice” and “Needs.” The album’s artwork finds a blond Tinashe gazing into the camera, while the track list graphic features a borderline-incomprehensible font (“Girl, I can’t read this. Let me go put my contacts in,” joked one Instagram commenter).

Tinashe has already announced a tour in support of her new album. She is set to hit the road with Shygirl and Uniiqu3, starting Oct. 28 in Chicago. The tour will conclude Nov. 18 in Oakland, California. BB/ANG3L will be the follow-up to 2021’s 333, Tinashe’s most recent LP. That album peaked at No. 175 on the Billboard 200; spawned the singles “Pasadena” (with Buddy) and “Bouncin’”; and housed additional collaborations with Jeremih, Kaash Paige, Absolutely, Wax Motif, Channel Tres and more. There will be no featured artists on BB/ANG3L.

Tinashe has earned four entries on the Billboard Hot 100 over the course of her career. She reached her highest peak on the chart in 2014 with the ScHoolboy Q-assisted “2 On.” On the Billboard 200, she has notched five entries, reaching as high at No. 27 with 2014’s Aquarius. She has also climbed as high as No. 41 on the Artist 100.

50 Cent Allegedly Hits Fan With Microphone He Threw Offstage

50 Cent is coming under fire after he allegedly hit a fan in the face with a microphone.

The rapper (real name Curtis Jackson) was performing at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (Aug. 30) as part of his Final Lap Tour, when he’s seen in videos circulating social media looking frustrated with a microphone issue. He then throws the mic down off the side of the stage, and hands off a second microphone to a crew member. Later in the performance, while Nas was onstage, 50 gets increasingly annoyed with the microphone issue, before he hurls the new mic to the same offstage section.

While the viral video doesn’t show the microphone hitting anyone, Power 106 radio host Bryhana Monegain appeared in photos shared by The Neighborhood Talk with a gash on her forehead allegedly from the incident.

According to TMZ, who first reported the news, 50 Cent wasn’t targeting Monegain. The artist’s attorney mirrored that sentiment in a statement to Billboard: “Let’s be very clear, as I told LAPD this afternoon, my client Curtis would never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone. Anyone saying something different doesn’t have all the facts and is misinformed.”

50’s Final Lap tour is scheduled to continue throughout the fall, wrapping up on Nov. 12 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England. The Live Nation-produced outing is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of his 2003 debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, and features a set list comprised of 50’s greatest hits and tracks he hasn’t performed live in decades according to a release.

Doja Cat Changes ‘Scarlet’ Art After Striking Similarities to Chaver’s Album Cover

Just two days after Doja Cat unveiled the cover art for her upcoming album, Scarlet, the star has updated the illustration.

“Updated cover,” the singer wrote on Instagram on Thursday (Aug. 31) alongside the new art, which features a hand-drawn, spider-like creature with pearls as a head and abdomen against a white background. See the post here.

The original art featured a fittingly scarlet-colored spider, but Doja seemed to have deleted the post and changed the cover after fans noticed that German hardcore band Chaver also used the same spider on the artwork for their upcoming album cover.

According to Stereogum, both Doja’s original album art and Chaver’s LP cover were designed by the same person, Portland-based artist Dusty Ray. An even stranger coincidence is that both albums will be dropping on the same day, September 22.

Fans have already heard two songs from Doja Cat’s album: lead single “Attention,” which was released in June and has so far peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as “Paint the Town Red,” which reached the Hot 100 top five this week. “Red” also moved 5-1 to top this week’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. She’s set to release another single, “Demons” on Friday (Sept. 1).

Rod Wave’s ‘Call Your Friends’ Reaches the Top 10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart

In its debut tracking week of Aug. 18-24, “Call Your Friends” registered 13.9 million official U.S. streams, according to Luminate, prompting a No. 4 start on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart. Streams virtually power the entire debut on the multimetric chart, with a negligible amount of track sales and 2,000 radio audience impressions also in the mix. (For scale, the cutoff of this week’s 50-position R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay is 142,000 impressions, though, “Call Your Friends” is not being actively worked and promoted to radio stations as a single. The rapper’s prior release, “Fight the Feeling,” is the radio focus.)

With “Call Your Friends,” Rod Wave adds his eighth career top 10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and maintains his consistency, having hit the region each year since 2020. Here’s a recap of his top-10 collection:

Song Title, Artist (if other than Rod Wave), Peak Position, Peak Date

  • “Rags2Riches,” featuring ATR Son Son, No. 7, Aug. 22, 2020
  • “Tombstone,” No. 5, April 10, 2021
  • “Street Runner,” No. 9, April 10, 2021
  • “By Your Side,” No. 10, Dec. 11, 2021
  • “Cold December,” No. 9, Feb. 5, 2022
  • “Alone,” No. 7, Aug. 27, 2022
  • “Fight the Feeling,” No. 7, April 15, 2023
  • “Call Your Friends,” No. 7, Sept. 2, 2023

Elsewhere, “Call Your Friends” launches at No. 6 on the Hot Rap Songs chart and is the week’s highest debut on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, at No. 26.

Nostalgia looks to extend Rod Wave’s top-10 streak on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, now at five consecutive projects. The run began with Ghetto Gospel (No. 10 in 2018) and followed with Pray 4 Love (No. 2, 2019); SoulFly (No. 1, 2021); Beautiful Mind (No. 1, 2022) and Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory (No. 9, 2022).

Jay-Z’s Team ROC Hires Attorney for Man Wrongfully Arrested at Wisconsin Applebees

After Kenosha police officers mistakenly believed Jermelle English Jr. was involved in a hit-and-run incident and arrested him at a Kenosha, Wisc., Applebees in July, Jay-Z’s Team ROC — Roc Nation’s philanthropic and social justice arm — has hired attorney Alex Spiro to get all charges dropped in the upcoming case.

According to ABC WISN 12, cell phone footage caught Kenosha police officers approached English inside the restaurant and accused him of being a suspect in the car crash. Despite vehemently denying his involvement, authorities pinned him down to the ground while he held his 1-year-old child. Witnesses told police the suspects involved in the hit-and-run included two Black men and a woman carrying a child heading toward a local Applebee’s. Officers believed English was the culprit and aimed to pull the baby out of his hands while attacking him on the ground. According to the Associated Press, the video appears to show one of the officers punching English.

Though police later learned English and his family were not involved, Kenosha police charged him with disorderly conduct, resisting and obstructing an officer. The woman who was with him received the exact same charges, along with possession of marijuana. The actual culprits were later found and apprehended in the restaurant’s bathroom.

According to ABC and NBC News, the Kenosha police have launched an internal investigation into the incident. Billboard has reached out to the Kenosha Police Department for comment.

“The reckless arrest of Jermelle English Jr. and the careless endangerment of his infant child by the Kenosha Police Department is an absolute travesty,”Dania Diaz, Team ROC’s managing director, said in a release. “The Team ROC team is here to support Jermelle and his family through this traumatic experience, demand justice and hold the Kenosha police officers accountable.”

Along with working on getting the charges dropped, Spiro will also work to “evaluate civil suits against those responsible,” according to the announcement from Team ROC.

This isn’t the first time Team Roc has aided the community of Milwaukee. In 2020, it helped coordinate a rally for Alvin Cole in Wauwatosa, who was killed by a police officer earlier. Team ROC paid legal fees for the peaceful demonstrators arrested and fined for their involvement.

On Wednesday (Aug. 30), Diddy noted on Instagram that he in fact has the final feature of The Weeknd’s career, after the singer announced earlier this month that he was done with collaborations.

“IT’S OFFICIAL @THEWEEKND’S LAST COLLAB OF HIS CAREER WILL BE ON….THE LOVE ALBUM :

“Music is my first love, and music has given me a second chance at life, so stepping back into the studio to make this album has been a soulful experience that brought me closer to myself and my purpose,” Diddy said in a press release. “This album wasn’t created to feed an algorithm or be relevant with the trends of the times — it was created to touch souls and freely express my story with the best artists, writers and producers shaping the future of R&B.”

Since then, he dropped his 2010 collaborative project Last Train to Paris with Dawn Richard and Kalenna Harper as Dirty Money and his 2015 mixtape MMM (Money Making Mitch).

The Weeknd’s Final Collaboration Will Be on Diddy’s New Album: ‘It’s Official’

On Aug. 9, during the Warsaw stop on his After Hours Til Dawn Tour, The Weeknd said, “I just wanna say that this is gonna be the last feature I ever do, ever in my career,” before launching into a still-unreleased song titled “Another One of Me.” At the time, he revealed neither the other artist(s) on the song nor its release date, but Diddy took it upon himself to share those details on Wednesday (Aug. 30).

“It’s official, @theweeknd ’s last collab of his career will be on… The Love Album: Off The Grid!” Diddy wrote on his social media pages. “Welcome to the Love Era.” The “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down” rapper also confirmed the song’s title and posted an 18-second teaser clip of the track, which The Weeknd shared to his own Instagram Story. In the red, monochromatic teaser trailer, Diddy seduces the camera and makes heart signs with his hands as the new collaboration plays in the background. “Another One of Me” and Off the Grid are slated for a Sept. 15 release.

“Another One of Me” marks Diddy and The Weeknd’s second collaboration of 2023. Both artists appeared on the official remix of Metro Boomin’s “Creepin’” (with 21 Savage). This year, The Weeknd has released a string of collaborations, including The Idol tracks “Double Fantasy” (with Future) and “Popular” (with Madonna and Playboi Carti), as well as “Die For You” (with Ariana Grande), which became both artists’ seventh Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper. Out of The Weeknd’s seven Hot 100 No. 1 hits, three are collaborations: “Die For You,” “Save Your Tears” (with Grande) and “Starboy” (with Daft Punk). After his Warsaw show, The Weeknd wrote on his socials, “The final feature… unless Daft Punk ever get back together.”
