It’s been a see-saw summer for Cardi B fans. Just two months ago she sadly informed the Bardigang that the long-awaited follow-up to her smash debut 2018 album, Invasion of Privacy, would probably not be coming out this year because she was focusing on “relaxing” and enjoying her summer.

Then on Thursday (July 18) she appeared to have a change of heart on the eve of the release of her new collab with Rob49, “On Dat Money.” In a post on X, Cardi explained that she’s rethought the chill zone and is planning to drop new music after all. “I wanna say this to Bardi gang or anybody who’s just a fan of my music or even my craziness… I have my good days and my bad days but you know what, whether it’s good or bad I couldn’t be happier with the obvious anticipation for my album,” she wrote before dropping the good news.
“Sometimes I get a little aggressive because yall know I don’t like to be told what to do but I promise you it’s coming THIS YEAR. Thank you for the love and anticipation and always holding me down. I love yall,” she added.

Cardi immediately made those dreams come true with her glamorous cameo in New Orleans MC Rob49’s video for “On Dat Money,” in which the rapper serves as point man in a mansion filled with exotic dancers as a torrential downpour of $100 bills rain down all around him. While Rob rapidly dispenses with his stacks, Cardi rides shotgun in his cash-piled car in Jackie O vibes, wearing oversized cat-eye sunglasses, a fur wrap, black head scarf, impossibly long black nails and bold red lipstick. Elsewhere, Cardi lounges in bed covered in bills and rocks a fire engine red miniskirt, knee-high boots and crop top jacket ensemble as Rob raps, “F–k me on that money, b–ch/ B–ch, f–k me on that money” over the song’s grinding trap beat.
Midway through Cardi gets in on the action, rapping, “Yeah, f–k me right there on that money/ I ride d–k on my feet, I be hoppin’ like a bunny/ I’m a freak, slut me out, you gon’ see me get disgustin,” in yet another one of her signature earworm features as thong-wearing dancers twirl on stripper poles behind her.
The pop-in on Rob’s song follows Cardi’s release of two loosey singles earlier this year, “Enough (Miami)” and “Like What” and a number of other features. It also comes after she slammed rapper/podcaster Joe Budden on Thursday for his critical take on the roll-out of her eagerly anticipated sophomore album in the lead-up to the Rob49 single dropping.
“Bro I gave you a lap dance two times in Starlets. You was high as f–k. High as f–k on coke, n—a… I don’t give a f–k when people talk s–t about me,” Cardi raged. “It’s the fact you always talk s–t about me Joe Budden. Out of nowhere, you would think I did something to this n—a… For the past two years, this n—a has only talked bad things about me.”
After lambasting Joe for constantly comparing other female rappers to her, Cardi got really real. “But you really want my album to come out so you can criticize it. Cause every time I drop something you don’t like it,” she said. “Every single time a b—h drops something and they doing mediocre, you say they doing better than me… What are you talking about? The s–t is in motion. Merch is in motion, the box sets is in motion. You don’t know s–t.”
On a recent pod, Budden confidently predicted that Cardi would not release another album in her carer, saying, “We’ll never get another album again. I am standing on it.”

Released on July 19, 2024, Life’s A Gamble arrives as Rich rides the wave of his recent success with “Carnival,” his collaboration with Ye, Ty Dolla $ign, and Playboi Carti that topped the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year. That hit gave Rich the Kid his first No. 1 and marked a major comeback after parting ways with RCA Records.
The 18-track album is executively produced by Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, bringing their Midas touch to Rich’s signature sound.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Rich explained the album’s title: “I feel like everything in life’s a gamble. You walk out the front door, you could get hit by a bus. Everything’s a gamble. I’ve taken wins and losses with my career, and I felt it was a perfect title.”
Life’s A Gamble boasts an impressive roster of guest features, including Ye, Ty Dolla $ign, Peso Pluma, Offset, Rob49, French Montana, Chief Keef, BIA, Quavo, and a posthumous appearance from Takeoff. The album includes the previously released singles “Carnival,” “Gimme a Second / Band Man,” and “Gimme a Second 2.”
Standout tracks include “Gimme a Second,” featuring Peso Pluma, “Not In the Mood” with Offset, and “Plain Jane,” which features Kanye West.
Rich the Kid has seen notable success on the Billboard charts over the years before landing his first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Carnival”.
His breakthrough came with the 2017 single “New Freezer,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, which peaked at No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2018, his debut studio album The World Is Yours reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200, driven by the hit single “Plug Walk,” which climbed to No. 13 on the Hot 100.
His subsequent albums have also performed well, with The World Is Yours 2 debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in 2019.

The Grammy-winning artist went ballistic against the rapper-turned-podcaster during a Twitter Spaces session on Thursday afternoon (July 18).
“Bro I gave you a lap dance two times in Starlets. You was high as f–k. High as f–k on coke, n—a… I don’t give a f–k when people talk s–t about me,” she spewed. “It’s the fact you always talk shit about me Joe Budden. Out of nowhere, you would think I did something to this n—a… For the past two years, this n—a has only talked bad things about me.”

Cardi B doesn’t appreciate Budden allegedly pinning her against other rising women rappers.
“Every five or six months you comparing another female rapper towards me, you compare new artists, old artists, every single fucking artist with me, bro,” she said. “If you love these b—–s so much, why are you not talking about their album? You compare females to me that my worst records beat their best records. I don’t give a f–k about none of these b—–s.”
Cardi continued: “But you really want my album to come out so you can criticize it,” she said. “Cause every time I drop something you don’t like it. Every single time a b—h drops something and they doing mediocre, you say they doing better than me… What are you talking about? The s–t is in motion. Merch is in motion, the box sets is in motion. You don’t know s–t.”
On a recent podcast, Joe Budden predicted that Cardi B isn’t going to release another album in her career, which she took issue with.
“We’ll never get another album again. I am standing on it,” he said. “Cardi got something dropping with my man Rob[49] on Friday, but that’s what Cardi’s gonna be now. A single artist.”
Budden added: “I’m sure Offset wants Cardi to put an album out. Ay, fellas out there. Boyfriends, y’all know that feeling right? When you want your b—h to get a job. You in the house and your b—h won’t leave… Ain’t you got an album to do? Ain’t you got a single?”
Following Cardi’s Spaces rant, Budden pushed back against allegations of cocaine use and ever getting a lap dance from her. He also promised to “not cover a single thing this girl does for the remainder of her career.”
“I really just wanted an album from someone whose music i love,” he wrote on X and eventually apologized to the “WAP” rapper. “She cursing me smooth out but she still hilarious lol…. I’m going to bed, i apologize to @iamcardib for whatever i did and peace and love to all.”
It’s been over six years Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy album arrived in April 2018. Her acclaimed debut topped the Billboard 200 with 255,000 album units sold in the first week and went on to win best rap album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
While the prospects of her sophomore project remain unknown, Cardi is dishing out another fiery feature where she’ll join Rob49 for “On Dat Money” on Friday (July 19)

Big Sean is the latest subject of a leak after someone allegedly released a 14-track body of work that’s said to be a version of the Detroit rapper’s upcoming album. Sean Don didn’t waste any time in responding to the leak, getting on the offensive as he teased an upcoming collaboration with The Alchemist on Wednesday (July 17).

“I’m a just start droppin this new music before they leak it all BIG SEAN x THE ALCHEMIST soon,” he captioned an Instagram post.
The accompanying clip finds Sean rhyming over Alchemist’s soulful production, and they appear to have a visual ready to go with the rapper and producer kicking it in the grass fields.

“Pushin the V and it’s not for vendetta/ I’m hungry as ever but somehow I’m fed up/ A smooth operator I could connect ya/ I only love a few I gotta protect ya,” he raps.
Big Sean caused a stir on social media with subliminal bars from his “On the Radar Freestyle” on Wednesday, which some believed to be shots at Kendrick Lamar, while others such as DJ Hed insinuated he was sniping at Ye (formerly known as Kanye West).
“I talked to Sean. The bar was ‘I got better things to do then find someone to beef with’ And it was not for Dot,” Hed tweeted. “Bar was directed at a different Gemini.” (Ye’s June 8 birthday makes him a Gemini.)
Big Sean had been signed to Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music label for 14 years before announcing his departure in October 2021. The move came just prior to when West called signing Sean “the worst thing I’ve ever done” during a Drink Champs interview in November 2021.
A person online going by the handle Bigseandon811 didn’t appear to appreciate what they perceived to be disrespect of Ye in the freestyle, and took it upon themself to allegedly leak the album. Billboard has reached out to reps for Big Sean.
“Since he wanna disrespect Ye so much, here’s the album, f–k him and his whole team,” the leaker wrote, according to Variety.
Variety also found the leaked files, and reported that a track titled “Nintendo Switch Superstar” features the same Willie Hutch sample that Usher used on “Superstar.” Other guest appearances reportedly include Charlie Wilson and Brent Faiyaz.
Big Sean notched three consecutive No. 1 albums atop the Billboard 200 with 2020’s Detroit 2 serving as the last LP. He made his return earlier this year with “Precision,” and appeared as a guest on tracks with Eminem and Jessie Reyez.
The 36-year-old will be able to call himself an author come October when his Go Higher book promoting mental wellness arrives. As far as his untitled upcoming album, the project remains without a firm release date, but might be bumped up due to the recent leaks.
ScHoolboy Q voiced his displeasure about the first show of his Blue Lips Weekend tour getting canceled, and he thinks the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef has something to do with it.
The tour was set to kick off Thursday (July 18) with a sold-out show at History in Toronto, Canada, but Wednesday night, the TDE rapper alleged that the show was scrapped due to safety concerns. “They just cancelled my show in Toronto,” he tweeted Wednesday. “Canadian police don’t want nobody from TDE performing.”

Q also mentioned Kendrick’s camp has been keeping things on wax while alluding Drake — who is from Toronto — and OVO had something to do with the situation. He pointed out his label boss Top Dawg met up with Lil Wayne and Baby at the YouTube Leaders & Legends Gala, and that OVO artist Partynextdoor had just performed at the Hollywood Palladium. “TOP was just wit Wayne & Baby smH,” he tweeted. “Partynextdoor just had a show at the palladium. If we wanted to get y’all we would’ve just did it.. now when somebody gets hurt don’t cry.”

He quickly got over it, though, and laughed at the irony and ridiculousness of it all. “Actually I get it,” he tweeted. “Nevermind, this s—t is lowkey hilarious. I don’t know why Dot put me in that f—ing video.”
One fan replied to that tweet with a screenshot of ScHoolboy standing stoically in the “Not Like Us” video, to which the rapper poked fun at himself, tweeting, “Cancelled is all I could think about.”
History — the venue ScHoolboy was set to perform in — is owned by Live Nation in collaboration with Drake.
Billboard has reached out to Drake, History as well as Toronto law enforcement for comment.
Rick Ross was attacked after a show June 30 in Vancouver, B.C., as he walked off the stage with “Not Like Us” playing in the background. Back in 2018, Pusha T was also attacked while he was performing in Toronto.
Major rainfall and flooding have hit Toronto hard in recent days, leaving 100,000 residents without power. Drake posted a video of himself trying to control the flooding in his mansion to no avail.
Q’s next tour stop is in Chicago this Saturday (July 20).
In the 10th episode of Billboard Unfiltered, Billboard staffers Carl Lamarre, Trevor Anderson, Damien Scott and Kyle Denis rate and review Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady, discuss how older rappers stay fresh versus newer ones, Big Sean’s career and more!Carl Lamarre: The album came out on Friday.
Damien Scott: Slim Shady.

Carl Lamarre: The Death of Slim Shady.
Kyle Denis: Certainly, a death.
Carl Lamarre: It was …
Damien Scott: All right.
Trevor Anderson: I think that’s crazy for someone who spent their whole life, you know, all these kids have been doing it since they were teenagers maybe even before that to say when you hit a certain age, stop.
Damien Scott: If you just wrote on a piece of paper, what Big Sean’s career is, all of that equals superstar.
Carl Lamarre: Let’s get into it because we got a lot to talk about. Eminem! Album came out on Friday.
Damien Scott: Slim Shady.

Donald Glover is preparing for Childish Gambino’s final act, and before Bando Stone & The New World arrives, the multi-hyphenate put his taste buds to the test on Hot Ones Thursday (July 18).
Glover has experimented with hallucinogenics such as ayahuasca, but didn’t realize eating spicy chicken wings would be a comparable experience. “This does feel shamanic,” he told host Sean Evans. “It feels pretty intense already. I feel like I’m about to do ayahuasca.”
Trending on Billboard
In the midst of chowing down on some spicy wings, the 40-year-old put a bow on his Childish Gambino moniker. “A collaborator of mine, fam and I, we talked about the death of Superman a lot … I always knew Childish Gambino was like a character, and on some level I wanted it to end,” he explained. “I almost feel like Childish Gambino is like the boss from The Office, like, ‘That stuff worked 10 years ago.’ All that stuff worked, but now it’s like a different thing. It’s like, ‘Oh it’s a little sad, but its like, wow, the cycle kinda continues, which is great, I think.’”
A quick history lesson: Childish Gambino discovered the name of his alter ego when messing around with a Wu-Tang Clan name generator in college. At the end of the episode, Glover revealed what RZA told him about what the name meant.
“The Childish Gambino story from the Wu-Tang Clan RZA told me it’s a story of a child turning into a boss,” said the actor-musician, who earned his fifth Primetime Emmy nomination for acting July 17. “This last sunset walk is for the fans. This is for you.”
Glover also continued to offer unhappy fans a refund at his upcoming show, which is sure to upset his attorneys. “If this isn’t the best live show you’ve seen — after the first song if you’re like, ‘I gotta go,’ you can leave and I’ll give you your money back,” he promised. “That’s how much I care about all of this. That’s not a joke. My lawyers will be like, ‘It’s a joke,’ but it’s not a joke. I will set it up so you can go.”
The “This Is America” rapper hits the road for a world tour, which kicks off in Oklahoma City on Aug. 11 with support from Willow and Amaarae.
After powering through the hot wings, Glover credited his Community co-star Joel McHale for helping build up his hot-sauce tolerance.
“Joel was literally, like, only eating espressos and eggs because he had a shirt-off scene. He was like, ‘Hot sauce, it’s the only flavor.’ So I started putting hot sauce on everything and then we started getting into a thing with each other,” he added in the post credits. “I realized, ‘Oh yeah, that must’ve boosted my tolerance.’”
Bando Stone & The New World hits streaming services on Friday (July 19). Gambino’s last album is a genre-blending effort featuring guest appearances from Jorja Smith, Flo Milli, Yeat, Steve Lacy and more.
