This past Saturday (June 14), millions of American citizens from coast to coast took to the streets for the No Kings protest to remind Donald Trump that we the people don’t do kings, dictators, or authoritarians on U.S. soil.
The much hyped protest took place on the same day that Donald Trump threw himself a birthday military “parade” as his birthday coincided with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army being born. While Trump’s little vanity parade flopped big time with only a few thousand MAGA loyalists attending the D.C.debacle, more than 11 million Americans marched on the streets from New York to Los Angeles in a show of unity amongst Americans who’ve had enough of Donald Trump’s administration kidnapping and disappearing Latino and Black immigrants into foreign prisons, curbing Supreme Court orders, and running roughshod over the constitution.
The man is selling green cards for $5 million for Christ’s sake.
With growing worry that Donald Trump is itching for civil unrest in order to justify enacting the Insurrection Act and declaring Martial Law, the protests that took place across the 50 states (and in other countries as well) were peaceful, joyful and loud as everyone knew the assignment and carried it out to a T. People of all ages, races, and religions gathered from city to city to show the world that they are not okay with what Donald Trump is doing and will continue to resist this regime’s efforts to weaken and take away our democratic rights.
People protesting refrained from any violence, looting or destruction of private property, but did hold up all kinds of signs mocking the adjudicated rapist and partook in various chants denouncing the current administration as people are refusing to go silently into the night were fascism lies.
Meanwhile in Washington, Trump’s military parade was so pathetic that even Russia couldn’t help but clown Donald Trump for his struggle spectacle.
You know it’s bad when even Trump’s biggest “ally” is publicly mocking him for his pitiful procession.
Predictably, Donald Trump didn’t take criticism of his “parade” too well and on Sunday (June 15) declared that he would be instructing ICE to hit cities like New York and Los Angeles (again) hard and carry out new operations to deport as many immigrants as possible.
Again, the man is itching for a reason to declare Martial Law. Do not give him one.

May Day (May 1) is also known as International Workers’ Day and Labour Day in certain parts of the world, and it has particular resonance today, considering the current political climate. In America, protests are cropping up in an affront to President Donald Trump’s policies, and other protests around the world are in support of worker solidarity.
May Day’s roots were established in the late 1880s as the labor movement and unions advocating for better working conditions for laborers began to establish their presence. In America, protests in support of worker rights took place, and on May 4, 1886, in Chicago, a deadly bombing set off by anarchists left several people dead and dozens more injured. Union leaders decided from that point on that May 1 would be a day to honor those workers, and a sculpture sits today at Chicago’s Haymarket Square where the Haymarket Affair took place.
The wider focus of May Day is largely global, but there is a unifying message this year as the first 100 days of President Donald Trump’s second term just concluded. Within America, Trump’s policies have come under fire as some find his current path destructive and wanton. Outside of the States, organizers are protesting the Israel-Gaza conflict, working conditions, and more.
On X, May Day has been trending for much of the day, and we’ve got a series of posts to share below. To learn more about the day, click here.

Rocker Dave Matthews joined the pro-Palestinian protests of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he spoke before Congress in Washington D.C.
On Wednesday (July 24), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech before a joint session of members of Congress at the U.S. Capitol. His appearance was denounced by a massive crowd protesting the treatment of the Palestinian people during the war in Gaza. They were joined by one notable figure – musician Dave Matthews. He spoke to a reporter from Al-Jazeera during the protests. “I just think it’s terrible when the majority of the world is looking at this man and what he’s doing in Gaza and then also what he’s overseeing in the West Bank and East Jerusalem [and] we’re welcoming [him] into the so-called sacred halls of our government,” he began.
“This has been an ongoing struggle for people that just want to have dignity and be able to live independent lives and dream of a better future,” he continued. “And this man is the pinnacle of the obstacle toward that freedom and that we have [him] visiting the country is obscene. It’s a disgusting show of support for someone that doesn’t deserve our support.” The “Crash Into Me” singer concluded: “I’m ashamed that my tax dollars are going to the brutalizing of an entire people. It’s shameful. And I’m ashamed that our government is welcoming him here.”
Netanyahu’s speech was controversial for multiple reasons. While he praised President Joe Biden initially, he soon turned to heap praise on former President Donald Trump “for all he’s done for Israel.” Netanyahu has long been a supporter of Republican and conservative causes. He also made no direct mention of ongoing efforts led by the U.S. to obtain a ceasefire with the Hamas organization and the release of hundreds of Israeli hostages or that he’d be willing to agree. Netanyahu also denounced the protests on college campuses against him, calling those involved “Iran’s useful idiots.” He also faced opposition from most of the Democrats, with Michigan representative and Palestinian-American Rashida Tlaib holding up a sign reading “War Criminal” throughout his speech.
Netanyahu is currently facing arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes against the Palestinians during the conflict, which began on Oct. 7, 2023, with over 1,200 Israelis and 39,000 Palestinians killed in addition to other foreign nationals working with the United Nations and Chef Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen.
