“Working on this collaboration was a dream come true,” Rousteing said in a news release. “I was only nine years old when The Lion King was first released, but still today, almost three decades later, I only need to close my eyes to replay that incredible mix of music, images and emotions. The lessons that I absorbed, as I sat, absolutely transfixed by what was happening on the giant screen in front of me, have remained with me for my entire life.”
The collection is inspired by “Africa’s artisanal traditions” and celebrates a “generation of African talents” with designs adapted from South African artists such as Nika Mtwana, Cassius Khumalo, and Cameroonian artist Enfant Precoce. The collection was showcased in a short film shot in different locations in South Africa’s Western Cape province. The film was directed by Femi Oladigbolu, produced by Disney in collaboration with Balmain and shown during The Lion King in Concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall on July 5.

The 2024 Summer Olympics opening ceremony is almost here! The opening ceremony will kick off on Friday (July 26) and the games will conclude on Sunday, August 11, with events taking place in Paris along the Seine River. The ceremony will be airing live exclusively on NBC and Telemundo for Spanish-speaking audiences. It will also be available for streaming on Peacock.

The 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony will air live on NBC. You can stream on Peacock, DirecTV Stream, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and FuboTV.
Peacock subscriptions start at $7.99 for Peacock Premium is and $13.99 for the commercial-free Peacock Premium Plus. Peacock also offers a student discount which drops the price down to just $1.99/month.
DirecTV Stream is giving new users a five-day free trial when you sign up for one of the four packages offered. Every package includes streaming access to local channels like NBC.

After more than four decades in the business, Cher has another hit on her hands. The music icon’s upcoming autobiography, Cher: The Memoir, shot to No. 1 on Amazon this week, but it doesn’t come out for another few months.

Cher: The Memoir, the first of a two-part autobiography, will be released on Nov. 19. The second book is expected to be released sometime in 2025.

“With her trademark honesty and humor, Cher: The Memoir traces how this diamond in the rough succeeded with no plan and little confidence to become the trailblazing superstar the world has been unable to ignore for more than half a century,” the publisher, William Morrow Group an imprint of Harper Collins, said in a statement on Wednesday (July 24).
Per the description, The Memoir follows Cher’s “extraordinary beginnings” from childhood to meeting and marrying former husband and music partner, Sonny Bono, and sheds light on the duo’s “highly complicated relationship that made them world-famous, but eventually drove them apart.”
The pair tied the knot in 1964 and divorced in 1975. After the split, Cher continued her solo career and Bono became a politician. He died in a skiing accident in 1998.
Beyond her personal life, the memoir gives a full scope of Cher as a mother, sister, wife, daughter and superstar.
The book is currently topping Amazon’s bestsellers list in the categories of popular music and biographies for actors and entertainers.
