Directed by Michael Grandage, My Policeman shares a story of forbidden love that spans decades. Set in 1950s Britain, the LGBTQ+ drama centers around a married policemen who falls in love with another man.
This heart-pounding story unfolds over the course of four decades, following the impassioned journey of policeman Tom (Styles), his teacher wife Marion (Corrin) and museum curator Patrick (Dawson).
The story jumps ahead to the 1990s and finds Tom (Linus Roache), Marion (Gina McKee), and Patrick (Rupert Everett) reeling with longing and regret, but they get one more chance to repair the damage of the past.
“For me, the reason why the story is so devastating is that, ultimately, the whole story is about wasted time, and I think wasted time is the most devastating thing,” Styles said of the film’s central themes during the world premiere in Toronto last month, per The Hollywood Reporter.
“Because it’s the one thing we cannot control,” he continued. “It’s the one thing you can’t have back. And I think the one thing that I think matters – whatever kind of life you’ve lived – at the end when you think back on time with people you love.”
Ron Nyswaner wrote the film’s script, while Grandage, Michael Riley McGrath, and Caroline Levy are executive producers.
My Policeman is based on the book of the same name, written by Bethan Roberts. The story was inspired by the life of English author, E.M. Forster and his long-time companion, married policeman Bob Buckingham, and Buckingham’s wife.

Cole Miner’s Daughter: A Celebration of Life & Music of Loretta Lynn is set to air live from the Grand Ole Opry House at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m CT. Jenna Bush Hager will host the commercial-free special featuring performances and appearances from Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton, Wynonna, Kacey Musgraves, Darius Rucker, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and other stars.
Lynn died in her sleep at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. on Oct. 4. The country music veteran was 90.
“We are truly honored to work closely alongside Loretta’s family to create a celebration of life fit for a true queen of country music, Loretta Lynn,” CMT producers said in a statement. “She was a true original, a woman who always sang from her heart, never shied away from challenging the status quo, and blazed the path forward for her fellow female artists. From her firecracker spirit and signature musicality to her unmistakable country style and unparalleled authenticity, we look forward to honoring her in the best way we know how: sharing stories and songs with her family, friends and the legions of fans she loved dearly.”
The memorial tribute will feature special messages from Parton, Musgraves, Lambert, Reba, and Sissy Spacek. Performers include Jackson, Urban, Rucker, Brandi Carlile, George Strait, Tanya Tucker, Little Big Town, Margo Price, Wynonna with Gaither Vocal Band and Larry Strickland, and The Highwomen with Brittney Spencer. Lynn’s granddaughter, Emmy Russell will perform with Willie Nelson’s son, Lukas Nelson.
Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, Sheryl Crow, and Hoda Kotb are among the presenters.

The NFL takes London! The Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars game will stream exclusively on ESPN+ live from Wembley Stadium at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday (Oct. 30).

“Merry Christmas to All,” presented by Live Nation, will take place in December with performances in New York and Toronto. Tickets went on sale at 10 p.m. ET on Friday (Oct. 28).
General admission tickets are currently priced at approximately $85-$110 to $300, and over $3,000 for VIP admission. Carey added two additional shows to Madison Square Garden, which are among the higher-priced tickets.
The music icon posted a Halloween-themed Christmas video on Instagram on Friday with the caption, “See you in December! All 4 shows of #MerryChristmasToAll are on sale now!”
The concert event was initially scheduled for only two nights, but Carey added two additional performances beginning Dec. 9 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Carey will perform another show in Toronto on Dec. 11, before heading home to New York City for concerts at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 13 and Dec. 16.
In addition, buying passes, Carey’s “lambs” will be able to purchase an exclusive t-shirt and a copy of her illustrated holiday fairytale, The Christmas Princess, which drops next Tuesday (Nov. 1).
Carey opened up about writing the story in an interview last year. “I started writing that on a little DX7 or Casio keyboard that was in this little room in the house that I lived in at the time in Upstate New York lifetimes ago,” she told Parade.com. “Just writing down everything that I thought about. All the things that reminded me of Christmas that made me feel festive that I wanted other people to feel.”
With the holiday coming soon, Carey’s 1994 holiday hit, “All I Want for Christmas” is expected to make its seasonal return to the charts. After landing in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2017, “All I Want for Christmas” has gone on to top the Hot 100 for the last three years in a row.
