Kelly Clarkson opened Monday’s (Nov. 14) episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show with a tender cover of “Dream a Little Dream of Me,” as recorded by Mama Cass With The Mamas & the Papas.

For the number, the talk show host whittled down the instrumentation to just two instruments — a guitar and a piano — as she crooned, “Stars shining bright above you/ Night breezes seem to whisper, ‘I love you’/ Birds singin’ in the sycamore trees/ Dream a little dream of me/ Say nighty-night and kiss me/ Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me/ While I’m alone and blue as can be/ Dream a little dream of me.”

Featured on The Mamas & the Papas’ self-titled album in 1968, the song charted at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also peaked at No. 2 on what is now the Adult Contemporary chart. The standard dates back to 1931 and has been recorded by many artists over the decades, including a first recording from Ozzie Nelson, followed by Doris Day, Anita Harris, Henry Mancini, Erasure, Eddie Vedder, Michael Bublé, the cast of Glee and many others.

Later in the show, Garth Brooks made a surprise appearance via video link to announce he’ll be headed to Las Vegas in 2023 for another residency.

Other “Kellyoke” songs Clarkson has knocked out of the proverbial park in recent weeks include Florence + the Machine’s “Heavy in Your Arms” from Twilight: Eclipse, the original “Lady Marmalade” by LaBelle, Rihanna’s 2007 smash “Umbrella,” Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle” and more.

Watch Clarkson’s gorgeous take on “Dream a Little Dream of Me” below.

Beach Weather, “Trouble With This Bed”

High off of its 2016 single “Sex, Drugs, Etc.” recently hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, three-piece alternative band Beach Weather — which consists of members Nick Santino, Reeve Powers and Sean Silverman — have returned with a brand new track, “Trouble With This Bed.” The song sees the trio expanding on its feelings of discontent and loneliness, but under a comforting veil of sunshine. Santino sings of wanting to be joined by a lover to end the agony that comes with sleepless nights, while Powers and Silverman provide fuzzy guitar work and synth instrumentals upbeat enough for a stark juxtaposition to the lyrics. – Starr Bowenbank

The Dragon Sisters, “Back Down”

The Dragon Sisters sashayed to the forefront of New York City nightlife as the city emerged from its COVID coma, and on new single “Back Down,” the duo demonstrates that their cool-as-a-cucumber onstage ferocity translates to the mic as well. Over a metal-tinged guitar riff and rapid-fire beats, Issa and Odessa Dragon unleash their inner Minaj and tear into those who are “quick to back down” when faced with opposition. – Joe Lynch

Lila Drew, “Used To”

London-born, L.A.-raised singer-songwriter Lila Drew conveys a winning curiosity on “Used To,” the opening track on new album All The Places I Could Be. The melody remains fairly straightforward and Drew’s voice picks up momentum as the song rolls on, but the combination of the production details — stray beats crashing in, DJ scratches and sound effects — and the way Drew’s lyrics swirl around infatuation without landing too heavily make “Used To” feel like an exciting opening chapter to the project. – Jason Lipshutz

Patrick Wolf, “Enter The Day”

“Enter The Day” marks British pop virtuoso Patrick Wolf’s first new music in 10 years, and also coincides with the 20th anniversary of his recording debut. While Wolf’s multi-faceted skill set and fascination with genre were on display throughout the first decade of his career, his new single also serves as a reminder that he can simply sit down at the piano and bang out a wonderful pop song. Wolf’s voice, always his greatest power, sounds as warm and remarkable as ever on “Enter The Day,” which stretches out across multiple verses but hammers down on the emotional heft during the chorus. – J. Lipshutz

Reneé Rapp, “Too Well”

It’s a big time for multi-hyphenate Reneé Rapp, who released her debut EP Everything to Everyone last Friday and will star in a new season of the HBO Max series The Sex Lives of College Girls later this week. Standout track “Too Well” emits a melancholy charm that’s reminiscent of the dramedy: Rapp laments, “It sucks, I don’t hate you as much,” as her post-breakup anger gives way to sadness, and she demonstrates a knack for showy hooks as well as tossed-off details. – J. Lipshutz

Beatenberg, “Symposium”

Cape Town singer-songwriter Matthew Field has been beguiling listeners in recent months with his solo project M Field, but Beatenberg, the long-running trio he fronts with Robin Brink and Ross Dorkin, produces similarly ornate and heartfelt pop. “Symposium” is a lovely introduction for new fans, twirling skyward with twee instrumental pileups while also clearing out space for Field’s delicate messages. – J. Lipshutz

Stevie Bill, “Poison”

With the release of her debut EP Messy, NYC-based, Amsterdam-born pop singer Stevie Bill shows off her range with airy tracks like “The Boy Who Cried Love,” which spotlights her falsetto, and latest single “Poison,” which explores a grittier, more thunderous sound. Inspired by artists from Post Malone to Clairo, Stevie Bill has managed to carve her own lane somewhere right down the middle. – Lyndsey Havens

dee holt, “Sober”

The confidence dee holt exudes on “Sober” is only amplified by her crisp vocals, as she makes it sound oh-so-easy to dismiss a partner. “Come and see me when you’re sober, when you get rid of your persona,” sings the Montreal-based artist over minimal, creeping production that supports the notion she’s not messing around. – L. Havens

Sault, “Fight For Love”

British music collective Sault, helmed by producer Inflo, has a knack for fusing jazz, R&B, house and disco. And while “Fight For Love” (off new album 11) is a more melancholy release, it hits just as hard thanks to a funky bassline and delicate vocals that softly spill over the song as if no one was ever meant to hear them. – L. Havens

Hatchie, “Nosedive”

The surging “Nosedive” arrives as the latest from Aussie alt-pop artist Hatchie, and with its relentless electro-rock backdrop and the singer’s echoing vocals, it immediately stands out in her catalog. With the production doing the heavy lifting, Hatchie slinks around the song, experimenting with her own harmonies and deliveries on each verse. – L. Havens

The much awaited “Lohanaissace” is fully underway, and Lindsay Lohan is fresh off the release of her return to film with Netflix’s Falling for Christmas.

With Lohan’s reemergence into the spotlight, 90s and early 2000s babies are eager to know if the star will also drop another album, as it’s been 17 years since her last album, 2005’s A Little More Personal (Raw). She teased a potential return in 2020 with the single “Back to Me,” but in a new interview with Who What Wear, the Parent Trap actress didn’t seem to be in any rush to put out music.

“If you hear music from me, it will hopefully be in a movie musical,” she explained to the publication, before adding, I’ve done a ton of songs that are sitting, waiting. Maybe five years down the line, I’ll do another album.”

As for flying under the radar the past several years, Lohan shared how grounding it was. “Whenever you slow down, you realize that every little thing can make you happy in a different way,” she shared. The star married financier Bader Shammas early this year, and prior to that, moved to Dubai in 2014, where paparazzi are illegal. “I found it to be a sacred space for me. I could do my own thing, and nobody bothered me,” she said.

She also explained her reasoning to return to the screen with Falling for Christmas. “I wanted to do something where people felt like I hadn’t left,” she shared. “You know a lot of people say ‘comeback’ and stuff, and that puts a lot of pressure on the situation, and I’m not one that wants that attention.”

Falling for Christmas is currently available to stream on Netflix.

Nick Carter took to social media on Monday (Nov. 14) to thank fans for their support following the death of Aaron Carter, and announced a way to give back in his brother’s memory.

“Very grateful for the outpour[ing] of love and support for my brother,” the Backstreet Boys singer wrote in an Instagram Story. “In his memory, a donation fund has been started to benefit @onoursleevesofficial, an important children’s mental health helping families across America.”

The post also included a direct link to the On Our Sleeves donation site with a note that reads, “Thank you for choosing to celebrate the impact of the life of Aaron Carter with a gift of hope. By honoring Aaron, you help Nick, Angel, and their family’s commitment of helping others.”

The “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” singer tragically passed away earlier this month at the age of 34. While no cause of death has been revealed, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that a “suspicious death” had taken place at the address of Carter’s residence.

Following his younger brother’s death, Nick shared a number of photos with Aaron from their childhood, writing, “My heart is broken. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.”

GAYLE went to the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 13) and dished about how she ended up as an opener on Taylor Swift‘s upcoming Eras Tour.

“Obviously I’ve known about Taylor, for forever, like my whole entire life — I can’t remember a time where I didn’t know Taylor Swift,” the teen sensation told Entertainment Tonight from the red carpet in Düsseldorf, Germany. “My best friend and I went to [an] awards show and Taylor Swift happened to be there, and I did a performance and some very cool things happened after that.”

The awards show she’s referring to was September’s Nashville Songwriter Awards, where she performed her breakout hit “abcdefu,” which was voted one of the 10 “songs I wish I’d written” by the NSAI Professional Songwriter Members. Honored as the organization’s Songwriter-Artist of the Decade, Swift also happened to be in attendance at the show, and the pair ultimately snapped a cute selfie together.

“She was just like, ‘You did a great performance — I’m gonna call you,’” GAYLE went on. “Now I’m here, and I can’t believe it. I feel like I’m lying. I feel like this is a dream. I don’t know where I am. I don’t know what I’m doing.”

GAYLE is one of many openers on Swift’s tour — including Paramore, Beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, Girl in Red, MUNA, HAIM, Gracie Abrams and OWENN — but don’t expect to hear a Taylor song in her own setlist for the shows. “I’m not gonna do a Taylor Swift cover, I feel like for obvious reasons,” she told ET. “She does it all great. I can’t do it any better.”

Harry Styles had the crowd at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum in the palm of his hand Friday (Nov. 11). During his Love on Tour concert, one fan convinced the 28-year-old pop star to make a huge announcement on her behalf — reveal the sex of her baby on the way — and he absolutely reveled in creating suspense before delivering the news.

“She’s about to do the single hardest thing in the world there is to do,” Styles began. “I’m sure it’s going to be fine — the most beautiful thing there is to do in the world!”

The Grammy winner also checked with the fan named Sydney on how far along she was: four months. “Are you sure you want me to do this?” he continued. “Los Angeles, this is a Friday night you will never forget.”

“Can I please get some tense gender reveal music,” he added to his band. Slyly twirling and dancing around the stage, Styles had his audience contribute to the anticipation by leading them in a round of “Ooooohs.”

“I know something you don’t know!” he teased. “What do you want it to be? OK, here we go. This is … very nice. Something for the fourth album, perhaps.”

“This is called edging,” he said, drawing out the moment once again, before finally announcing the news. “It’s … a … girl!”

The “As It Was” singer has been stationed at the Forum for about three weeks, performing a residency of 15 shows at the venue in support of his May-released third studio album Harry’s House. One could argue, though, that he’s now beginning a residency of conducting reveals for parents-to-be, as he did a second one just one night after Sydney’s.

On Saturday (Nov. 12), an expectant mom once again asked an obliging Styles to reveal her baby’s sex. “‘Tis the season for gender reveals, we had one last night!” he proclaimed, taking a sealed envelope from the fan named Shawna.

Once again, Styles drew out the suspense for as long as he could.

“How much longer would you like me to make this go on for?” he asked Shawna. “It’s a girl!”

Lizzo is making North America feel doubly special. On Monday (Nov. 14), the three-time Grammy winner announced that she’s circling back through the United States and Canada next year for a second leg of her 2022 Special Tour, adding 17 new dates to her schedule.

The second leg — dubbed The Special 2our — will kick off April 21, 2023, in Knoxville, Tenn., just over a month after Lizzo’s European stint is set to conclude. She’ll make stops in Montreal, Chicago, Phoenix, San Diego and more before closing out in Palm Desert, Calif., at Acrisure Arena.

Just as she did for Lizzo’s first North American leg, Latto will join the “Truth Hurts” musician as a special guest for the second round of U.S. and Canadian shows.

Ticket sales for the second leg dates will begin Friday (Nov. 18) at 10 a.m. local time on Lizzo’s website. See the full list of newly announced North American shows below:

P!nk is hitting the road again in 2023 and this time she’s bringing along some very special friends. The singer announced the North American dates for her “Summer Carnival 2023” outing on Monday morning (Nov. 14), revealing that the 21-city tour will hit stadiums across the continent from July through October with special guests Brandi Carlile and brand new Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Pat Benatar & Neil Girlado on select dates and Grouplove and KidCutUp on all the shows.
The Live Nation-produced tour will kick off on July 24 in Toronto at the Roger Centre and hit Cincinnati, Boston, New York, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Detroit, Nashville, San Antonio, San Diego and Los Angeles before wrapping up on Oct. 9 at Chase Field in Phoenix. Tickets for the tour will go on sale to the general public starting Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. local time here.

The official announcement of the dates came after P!nk and Carlile playfully teased the tour in a fun viral video on Sunday night. In the clip, the pair sit next to each other on a couch, with both dressed to impress as P!nk apologizes for having to take an important call. Carlile then picks up her cell and the pair get down to business. “I was really afraid to ask you this question to your face,” Pink says. “Oh, I’m married,” Carlile reminds her.

“Yeah, you love your wife… will you come on tour with me?” P!nk asks. “F–k yeah!” Carlile responds excitedly. P!nk and Brandi warmed up earlier this month when they joined forces for a performance of Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors” at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, held Nov. 5 in Los Angeles.

The Summer Carnival will kick off on June 7, 2023 at University of Bolton Stadium, the first of several U.K. dates, followed by shows across continental Europe. P!nk has just released the upbeat anthem “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.”

Dua Lipa made it very clear over the weekend that she will not be taking the stage at the upcoming opening ceremonies for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. In addition to denying the booking, the singer said she hoped that the nation will fulfill the human rights pledges it made in order to land the bid.

“There is currently a lot of speculation that I will be performing at the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar,” Dua wrote in an Instagram Story on Sunday according to EW. “I will not be performing and nor have I ever been involved in any negotiations to perform.”

And though she will be cheering on the English team “from afar,” the singer said she looks forward to visiting Qatar when it has “fulfilled all of its human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host” the international men’s soccer tourney that begins on Nov. 20.

Controversy has swirled around Qatar’s bid to host one of the world’s most-watched sporting events given the country’s treatment of migrant workers and criminalization of same-sex relationships. There have been ongoing concerns about the reported use of forced labor and the abuse of migrant workers in the first Middle Eastern nation to host the tournament, including reports that more than 6,500 migrant laborers from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have died in Qatar while building structures for the games.

BTS’ Jungkook is so far the only act slated to play the opening ceremony, which will take place at Al Bayt Stadium on Nov. 20; other acts slated to appear during the tournament at the FIFA Fan Festival include Diplo, Sean Paul and Calvin Harris.

Look at a screen grab of Dua’s statement below.

When she performs live, Pink never phones it in. When she announces her tour buddy, however, she just has to use her mobile.
The pop superstar has tapped country star Brandi Carlile to join her on tour, breaking the good news with a fun, viral video.

In the clip, the pair are sat beside one another, and dressed to impress.

Pink apologizes as she makes a “really important phone call.” She’s not lying. Carlile picks up and the pair get down to business.

“I was really afraid to ask you this question to your face,” Pink opens. “Oh, I’m married,” Carlile interjects.

Right, true. “You love your wife,” confirms Pink, who follows up with her big question: “will you come on tour with me?”

Carlile responds with an appropriate “f*** yeah,” and a quizzical, “are we doing this?”

Yes indeed, and the pair sign it with a high five.

Pink and Brandi warmed up earlier this month when they joined forces for a performance of Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors” at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, held Nov. 5 in Los Angeles.

The big show will hit the road next year for the Summer Carnival, kicking off June 7, 2023 at University of Bolton Stadium, the first of several U.K. dates, followed by shows across continental Europe. North American shows haven’t been unveiled, and, at the time of writing, it’s unclear which concerts Carlile will jump on.

The Summer Carnival is the followup to Pink’s Beautiful Trauma World Tour, which wrapped in 2019, and it’s her first major jaunt since the release of Hurts 2B Human in the same year. Hurts 2B Human debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, for Pink’s third leader.

In These Silent Days, Carlile’s seventh studio album, reached No. 11 on the Billboard 200 following its 2021 release, and made No. 1 on Top Rock Albums, Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Americana/Folk Albums.
