Matty Healy Addresses Controversial Podcast Comments About Ice Spice: ‘It Doesn’t Actually Matter’

Matty Healy made a lot of people upset after he laughed at racist, body-shaming comments about Ice Spice in recent podcast appearance. But now, he thinks the controversy “doesn’t actually matter.”

“Nobody is sitting there at night slumped at their computer, and their boyfriend comes over and goes, ‘What’s wrong, darling?’ and they go, ‘It’s just this thing with Matty Healy,’” the 1975 frontman told The New Yorker in a Monday (May 29) profile. “That doesn’t happen.”

“You’re either deluded or you are, sorry, a liar,” he continued, addressing fans who claimed to be offended by the remarks. “You’re either lying that you are hurt, or you’re a bit mental for being hurt. It’s just people going, ‘Oh, there’s a bad thing over there, let me get as close to it as possible so you can see how good I am.’ And I kind of want them to do that, because they’re demonstrating something so base level.”

The controversy in question went down in February when Healy went on The Adam Friedland Show to promote The 1975’s latest album, Being Funny In a Foreign Language. After bringing up that Ice Spice had once said she was a big fan of the band, the show’s hosts proceeded to make jokes about the “Princess Diana” rapper sounding like an “Inuit Spice Girl” and a “chubby Chinese lady.” They went on to mockingly imitate Chinese and Hawaiian accents, and joked about what Healy should say when sliding into Ice Spice’s DMs. The podcast episode has since been removed from Apple and Spotify.

Healy later half-apologized for laughing at and engaging with the hosts’ remarks during a 1975 concert in Auckland, New Zealand. “I just feel a bit bad, and I’m kind of a bit sorry if I’ve offended you,” he said onstage. “Ice Spice, I’m sorry. It’s not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued. It’s because I don’t want Ice Spice to think I’m a d–k. I love you, Ice Spice. I’m so sorry. I don’t want it to be misconstrued as mean.”

Since then, Ice Spice has teamed up with Taylor Swift — whom Healy is rumored to be dating — for a blockbuster remix of the pop star’s Midnights track “Karma.” When announcing the remix, the pop superstar said of the rising star, “I’m a massive fan of this brilliant artist and after getting to know her I can confirm: she is THE ONE to watch.” The two have since released a joint music video for the project, and the “Munch” artist also joined Swift onstage for three nights in a row at MetLife Stadium to debut the remix live at the Eras Tour.

While some fans may be questioning the motives behind the remix, Jack Antonoff — who has collaborated with both Swift and The 1975 — he’s standing by Healy. “I think Matty is a deeply sincere person, who can, at different points, be misunderstood because of how much he enjoys a bit,” Antonoff said in the New Yorker piece. “If you don’t know him, if you don’t get him, because you’re not really tuned in to the work, you might assume a cynicism that is literally not there.”

Lana Del Rey Asked the Audience to Help Find Her Vape: Watch

There was no snow on the beach when Lana Del Rey played Brazil. There was, however, a problem with a missing vape.

Lana’s drama was shared with the audience at the MITA Festival, Saturday (May 27) in Rio De Janeiro, her first live performance in more than three years.

As the alternative pop artist and her band kicked into the song “Norman F—ing Rockwell,” she went off-piste with the audible comment: “And also if you see my vape on stage, can you find my vape on stage?”

In a video capturing the moment, Del Rey can be heard chatting with someone up front.

“You did? Where, though? Oh, all the way in the pit?”

She wasn’t going there. “F— it,” she said, accepting defeat.  

Del Rey has a habit of losing her vaping device. According to Page Six, she lost her little nicotine buddy during a Portland concert in 2019. In a scene not dissimilar to what played out in Rio, Del Rey paused proceedings to start the search. Cue frustrated swearing — “Where’s my f—ing vape?” — which culminated in Del Rey giving up and moving along with her set.

Forgetfulness aside, Del Rey has a lot to be happy about. Her belated release from 2012, “Say Yes To Heaven,” debuted in the U.K. top 10, and a new edit of “Snow On The Beach,” her collaboration with Taylor Swift, could propel the track into the top 10 when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published Friday.

Billboard’s 2023 Women In Music Visionary dropped a ninth studio album in March, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and No. 1 in the U.K. and Australia.

During her set in Brazil, Del Rey delivered the live debut of numerous songs from her latest LP, including set opener “A&W,” “Candy Necklace,” “The Grants” and the title track. Check out some of her performances from the fest here.

The MITA Festival reportedly marked Del Rey’s first full concert since November 2019. Since then, she’s appeared on such TV programs as The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and made an onstage appearance with Bleachers at High Water Festival in 2023.

“Yeahhhh so the last three nights were a dreamscape and totally overwhelming,” Swift said of her MetLife concerts in a Monday (May 29) post on Instagram, where she shared a handful of new concert photos. “I love every single one of you who came to those 3 shows in Jersey, all 217,625 of you.”

“@phoebebridgers, I’ll miss you out here my dude, thanks for the duets and the dressing room heart to hearts,” she wrote, adding an emoji of two pink hearts to her message.

In addition to having her own set as an opener on The Eras Tour, Bridgers joined Swift onstage to perform their from-the-vault duet “Nothing New” at the past 10 dates.

“You are my hero,” Bridgers said Sunday night before they sang the Red-era song together. The pair shared a sweet hug, and Swift said, “Thank you for being the friend that you’ve been to me. This is really something we could’ve written in a note to each other,” she joked, “Just be like, ‘Thank you for being a friend that I will never ever stop confiding in and trusting. I love you with everything,’ but yeah, this is the last time we’re gonna get to sing together on this tour.”

In her Instagram note on Monday, Swift also wrote, “I was so excited to welcome @owennmusic to the Eras Tour! And @icespice i love youuuu and I’m still buzzing from getting to sing with you all three nights! This tour has become my entire personality. See you soon Chicago!”

Billie Eilish Calls Out ‘Women Hating Weirdos’ From Her Comments Section

Billie Eilish isn’t taking any foolishness over the internet this weekend.

Eilish responded to a number of comments that followers have recently left on her photos on Saturday (May 27). Addressing those saying she’s “changed” and calling her “a sellout,” she defended her choice to present herself however she wants to.

Taylor Swift Fans Are in Shambles Over ‘You’re Losing Me’

Taylor Swift‘s “You’re Losing Me” has fans in tears.

Swift’s new song is a vault track from Midnights that’s included on Midnights (The Late Night Edition), a special edition of the album first released exclusively to fans at her MetLife Stadium concert in New Jersey on Friday, May 26. Later Friday night, her official webstore dropped a digital download of The Late Night Edition priced at $5.99, but stated it’d be up for purchase for only 24 hours.

It’s a lot to keep track of, but “You’re Losing Me” can only be found on this Late Night Edition of Midnights; Swift also released brand-new takes of “Snow on the Beach” feat. More Lana Del Rey and “Karma” feat. Ice Spice as extra tracks on both The Late Night Edition and the Til Dawn Edition of the album this week.

Back to “You’re Losing Me”: The emotionally-charged ballad set to a beating heart illustrates the painful, slow ending of a longterm relationship. Swift’s split with boyfriend Joe Alwyn after six years together made headlines in early April.

“You say, ‘I don’t understand’ and I say, ‘I know you don’t’/ We thought a cure would come through in time, now, I fear it won’t/ Remember lookin’ at this room, we loved it ’cause of the light/ Now, I just sit in the dark and wonder if it’s time,” she sings in the first verse of “You’re Losing Me.”

The second verse goes on to describe a couple who were not on the same page: “Every mornin’, I glared at you with storms in my eyes/ How can you say that you love someone you can’t tell is dyin’?/ I sent you signals and bit my nails down to the quick/ My face was gray, but you wouldn’t admit that we were sick.”

But it’s the bridge of the song that really broke fans’ hearts: “And I wouldn’t marry me either,” Swift sings, “A pathological people pleaser/ Who only wanted you to see her/ And I’m fading, thinkin’/ Do something, babe, say something/ Lose something, babe, risk something/ Choose something, babe, I got nothing/ To believe, unless you’re choosing me.”

Many fans pointed out the song’s parallels to Lover‘s foreboding “Cornelia Street,” where Swift had worried, “I hope I never lose you/ I hope it never ends,” and the themes seen in many other songs in the musical mastermind’s discography over recent years — including “Champagne Problems,” “Exile,” “Tolerate It” and “The Great War.” Alwyn actually co-wrote some of those sad songs (“Champagne Problems, ” “Exile”) with Swift under the pen name William Bowery.

Swift’s Midnights (The Late Night Edition) album is available to purchase via physical CD at MetLife Stadium this weekend, and it’s also available as a digital download here on Swift’s webstore — but be quick, at it’s currently only up for a very limited time (until 7:59 p.m. ET tonight, Saturday, May 27).

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello Step Out at Taylor Swift’s Eras Concert in New Jersey

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are taking in another show.

After sharing a passionate kiss at Coachella in April 2023, the former couple was spotted together at Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour concert in East Rutherford, N.J., on Friday (May 26).

In fan-captured photographs taken at MetLife Stadium, the “Stitches” singer, 24, and “Havana” songstress, 26, were seeing enjoying a night out during the first of three sold-out shows at the massive N.J. venue. A video circulating on social media sees the pair strolling to their seats in the VIP section, Mendes rocking a sleeveless white shirt and blue jeans and Cabello sporting a black halter top and colorful skirt.

The meet-up at Swift’s concert arrives days after Mendes and Cabello were photographed in New York City. On Tuesday (May 23), the former lovebirds were seen holding hands while walking in Manhattan, marking their latest sighting after attending a comedy show in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Mendes and Cabello dated for more than two years before announcing their split in November 2021. Post-breakup, the stars were spotted kissing and embracing at this year’s Coachella, though neither has officially confirmed whether they’re back together or not.

As if their Coachella moment wasn’t enough, speculation ramped up in the week following the Indio, Calif.-based fest after Cabello teased a song titled “June Gloom” with lyrics many fans purported to be about reconciling with her “Señorita” duet partner. (“How come you’re just so much better?/ Is this going to end ever?/ I guess I’ll f— around and find out,” she sings on the yet-released track.)

Taylor Swift Debuts Music Video for Ice Spice ‘Karma’ Remix at MetLife Eras Tour Stop: Watch

Twenty-four hours after Taylor Swift debuted her Ice Spice-powered “Karma” remix, she’s unleashed the music video for the Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) collaboration at, of course, midnight.

The first lucky Swifties to see the video were the tens of thousands of fans at Friday’s (May 26) first of three Eras Tour stops at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (And that wasn’t all: They also got the live debut of the remix when Ice Spice joined Swift as a special guest to end the night.)

The video is packed with stunning visuals, with Swift inside an hourglass that shifts sideways to turn into her perfectly lined cat eye, to Swift’s head lying on a cat curled up in the shape of the moon. Ice Spice gets in on the cinematography too, including her trademark red curls morphing into a fluffy cloud, rapping from a golden clamshell, and Ice and Taylor lassoing various celestial bodies. Swift even turns into a tree-covered mountain range in one scene.

The icy new remix is from the just-released Midnights (Til Dawn Edition), a deluxe version of her blockbuster November album that included the eight-week No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Anti-Hero.” In addition the new rap-infused “Karma,” Til Dawn also has a “More Lana Del Rey” version of “Snow on the Beach.” Some editions also include the new song “You’re Losing Me,” which is available on the CD version of the album for sale on-site at The Eras tour stops at MetLife Stadium this weekend and became available for digital purchase late Friday too.

“How did you guys all meet?” she hilariously asks the siblings at one point in the video. “It happened in stages, and these other two people introduced us,” Kevin Jonas jokingly replied, before Joe Jonas added, “We met through our parents.”

And yes, Nick Jonas still loves a “red dress,” which Dimoldenberg made sure to wear to their date in reference to the 30-year-old singer’s famous ad-lib in the group’s 2008 hit, “Burnin’ Up.”

“It was just a pure coincidence,” the journalist jokes of her outfit choice. “Looking through my wardrobe, I thought, ‘Oh, look at that –“

“Red dress!” Nick interjects in the tone from “Burnin’ Up,” before teaching Dimoldenberg how to sing it properly.

Joe’s wife, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, also makes an appearance at the end of the episode, when the host cuts her date with Joe short to hang out with his wife instead. “I’m bored. Can we go?” Turner asks Dimoldenberg from a table nearby, before the two happily leave the restaurant together.

The Jonas Brothers are fresh off the release of their sixth studio album, The Album, which gave the band their  fourth No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart (dated May 27). The trio previously led the list with Happiness Begins (2019), Lines, Vines and Trying Times (2009) and A Little Bit Longer (2008).

Doja Cat Says She Keeps Changing Her Album Title Due to Her ADHD

Doja Cat is working on a follow-up to her 2021 groundbreaking album, Planet Her, and over the past few months, she’s been teasing fans with snippets and hints about the upcoming project.

However, one thing she keeps switching up is the album title. Back in March, the “Woman” singer suggested that the album would be called Hellmouth, but soon changed her mind and revealed that the title is First of All in a since-deleted tweet. Less than a week later, she posted another since-deleted tweet noting that she’s changing the album title once again.

Doja opened up about her creative process to Insider at a Patrón El Cielo launch part on Wednesday (May 24). “I put my ADHD kind of on display — by accident, I guess,” she said about selecting album titles. “I thought that Hellmouth was the name of the album, but then it wasn’t. But I’m good at doing things last minute. So I’ve been firing off random stuff and reading comments and seeing how people receive it and then, you know, saying ‘no’ a lot. ‘Just kidding.’”

She did however, say that she “finally” has an album title, adding, “It’s not First of All.“

The Grammy winner has previously opened up about her ADHD with Rolling Stone, revealing that she dropped out of high school at age 16 due to her struggles with the attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. “It felt like I was stuck in one spot and everybody else was progressing constantly,” she shared.

According to the CDC, ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders that is usually first diagnosed in childhood. Symptoms include having trouble focusing or controlling impulsive behaviors or becoming overly active.

Moneybagg Yo Delays New Album: ‘Ima Let My Baby Taylor Swift Drop’

Moneybagg Yo can read the writing on the wall. And on Thursday night (May 25) it read Midnights (Til Dawn Edition), which is, of course, the name of the second deluxe version of Taylor Swift‘s 10th album that debuted last night.

So while earlier this month the rapper pledged to drop his new Hard to Love mixtape last night as well, the avowed Swiftie had a last-minute change of heart and decided to give it another week to breathe to avoid being Swift Yo-ted. In a video posted on his socials Thursday night, Yo sat in his custom red Ferarri and burned one down while singing along to Swift’s song “Lover,” crooning the lyrics about leaving the Christmas lights up until January as if he was in the crowd at an Eras Tour stop.

“I just got the news my little baby Taylor dropping tonight,” the Bagg man said. “I ain’t gonna lie, you know how I feel about Taylor, so I think I’m gonna push Hard to Love back just a few days. Ya’ll be patient with me, man.”

He then continued singing as he roared off the screen and said he was happy to let Swift have the spotlight while Hard to Love will now drop on June 2. The new mixtape is the follow-up to 2021’s acclaimed A Gangsta’s Pain album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts. Moneybagg had good reason to step aside for a week, as Swift’s latest deluxe edition will likely flood the zone thanks to a remix of “Karma” featuring Ice Spice, a different take of her Lana Del Rey collab “Snow on the Beach” and the previously unheard track “You’re Losing Me.”
