With her latest hit “Paint the Town Red,” Doja Cat continues to brush off all competition on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart. The rapper-singer solidifies her standing as the act with the most No. 1s on the survey this decade, as the song ascends to the top of the ranking dated Oct. 28. The single, released […]

Britney Spears‘ long-awaited memoir, The Woman in Me, is finally out, and the pop star claims its sales are through the roof.
In an Instagram post Tuesday (Oct. 24), the same day Woman in Me was released, Spears took a moment to boast about the book’s success and thank her fans for supporting her latest endeavor. “It’s happening ✨🤓📖 !!!” the “Toxic” singer wrote, sharing a photo of the tome’s cover and tagline, “My story. On my terms. At last.”

According to Spears, her book is already “the highest selling celebrity memoir in history” on its first day on shelves. “And it’s only day 1 !!!” she added. “Thank you to the fans who have been so supportive !!! Love you all 🌹 !!!”

Billboard has reached out to Simon & Schuster, whose imprint Gallery Books published the pop star’s memoir, for comment. According to Amazon.com, The Woman in Me is the No. 1 on its list of most read and sold non-fiction books.

About 300 pages with an audio format narrated by actress Michelle Williams, The Woman in Me was first confirmed in July, with reports saying the publishing rights were auctioned off to Simon & Schuster for a whopping $15 million. Delving into details about Spears’ career, family, 13-year conservatorship and high profile relationships, the memoir included a number of bombshell revelations.

For one, the “Gimme More” musician claims she had an abortion while she was dating Justin Timberlake, whom she claims wasn’t ready to be a father. She also admits to having cheated on the *NSYNC singer once after finding out about his alleged affairs, and says he sent her a framed letter soon after breaking up with her over text.

Of her 55-hour marriage to Jason Alexander, Spears said she was “just honestly very drunk.” And of her fling with Colin Farrell, she wrote, “We wound up having a two-week brawl … Brawl is the only word for it — we were all over each other, grappling so passionately it was like we were in a street fight.”

As juicy as her love life secrets were, the Grammy winner also shed some light on some of her most polarizing music and performance choices over the years. For example, she was actually the creative mastermind behind her sexy schoolgirl “…Baby One More Time” music video; plus, it was she who made the call to ramp up her steamy 2003 VMAs smooch with Madonna from an air kiss to the viral moment it became.

The celebrity game is an easy one to play. Spot a celebrity, earn yourself a point. The brighter the star, the more points in your bag.
They might not know it yet, but Jimmy Kimmel’s kids won the celebrity game during a school drop-off one morning when they spotted Olivia Rodrigo on the side of the road, and the “Good 4 U” star got in the car.

The moment was, naturally, caught on camera for Kimmel’s late night show, airing Tuesday night, Oct. 24.

Posing as a hitchhiker, thumb out, Rodrigo gave the kids the surprise of their young lives when she scored a ride.

“You know Olivia, we listen to your music on the way to school all the time,” Kimmel announces to his passengers, two of whom are totally star-struck in the back: nine-year-old Jane and six-year-old son Billy.

After some miles had passed, and some back-and-forth questions, the Rodrigo tunes crank up for some Kimmel family karaoke. And why was she hitching? Surely you saw it coming. Rodrigo doesn’t actually own a drivers license.

Kimmel kept the motor running, as Rodrigo made her way to his show for a proper Q&A.

The triple Grammy Award winner, three-time Billboard Hot 100 leader, and two-time Billboard 200 champ stopped by to talk house hunting, her fear of ghosts, and the contents of her bag of “President Biden goodies.”

Fame is tricky, even for Rodrigo’s folks. Her dad “brags to his co-workers” about Olivia’s success, her mom is “modest and shy” and she’s “very coy” when asked about her daughter.

Rodrigo, like many of us, is fluent in profanity. When writing songs and whether to insert four-letter words, “I think about it often,” she explains. “I love using a swear word when I think it’s tasteful and necessary.” When penning some Guts tracks, she was “swearing all over them” and had to “pare it back.”

None of those four-letter curses appear in “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl,” which Rodrigo performed for Kimmel’s audience.

Jennifer Lopez took over the Las Vegas strip over the weekend, and the “Waiting for Tonight” singer shared highlights from the concerts she attended on Instagram. The superstar attended Usher’s My Way residency first, and in the clip posted to social media on Monday (Oct. 23), she’s seen dancing to his 2004 hit, “Burn.” The […]

Despite the hectic times surrounding the release of Spears’ fifth studio album, Blackout, she still considers it her favorite. She writes, “Blackout, the thing I most proud of my whole career, came out right around Halloween in 2007.”

The career-defining album featured hits “Gimme More,” “Break the Ice” and “Piece of Me.”

She performed “Gimme More” at the 2007 MTV VMAs, but ahead of the set, wasn’t feeling great after having two babies, suffering from postpartum depression and a series of other issues behind the scenes.

“Backstage at the VMAs that night, nothing was going right,” she writes. “There was a problem with my costume and with my hair extensions. I hadn’t slept the night before. I was dizzy. It was less than a year since I had my second baby in two years, but everyone was acting like my not having six-pack abs was offensive. I couldn’t believe I was going to have to go out on stage feeling the way I felt.”

To make matters worse, she also ran into her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake backstage, and everything resulted in her having a panic attack before going live.

“I went out there and I did the best I could at that moment in time, which — yes, granted — was far from my best at other times,” she writes. “I could see myself on video throughout the auditorium while I performed; it was like looking at myself in a fun house mirror.”

To add salt to the wound, following her unflattering performance, comedian Sarah Silverman made fun of her to the global audience. “She said that at the age of 25 I done everything worthwhile in my life I’d ever do,” Spears recalls. “She called my two babies ‘the most adorable mistake you’ll ever see.’ I didn’t hear that until later, though. At the time I was backstage sobbing hysterically.”

No, Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber aren’t expecting a baby. And in a Tuesday (Oct. 24) interview with GQ, the Rhode founder got candid about those recent rumors she’s pregnant and admitted she finds it hurtful when fans make assumptions about her body.

“Recently, everybody was like, ‘Oh, my God, she’s pregnant,’ and that’s happened to me multiple times before,” the model began. “There is something that’s disheartening about, ‘Damn, I can’t be bloated one time and not be pregnant?’”

“It would be a lie if I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, I don’t give a s—,’” she added.

Hailey and Justin celebrated their five year wedding anniversary this summer, and for now, she tells the publication that she’s content with being a mom only to the dogs she shares with the pop star. But when the day comes that she and the “Peaches” singer actually are planning to welcome their first child, Hailey emphasized that the internet “will be the last to know.”

“[Motherhood] is something that I look forward to,” she continued. “It’s also such a private, intimate thing. It’s something that’s going to come when it comes. And it’s just, honestly, at the end of the day, so hilarious how much people f–king care. Let me do what I want to do with my body and you guys can do what you want to do with your body—and let’s just let it be that.”

The “What’s In My Kitchen?” host also finally addressed that viral moment from her August Rhode event with Krispy Kreme, which left fans baffled by her husband’s choice in attire. While Hailey looked glamorous in a red cocktail dress and heels, Justin looked drastically underdressed in a grey sweatshirt, yellow Crocs and pink baseball hat.

“It’s so funny because I see so many people talk about this,” Hailey said. “He may want to wear baggy sweats to dinner, and I might want to wear a tiny little dress just because that’s how I’m feeling. We can’t sit there and be like, ‘So I’m going to wear this and you’re going to wear this.’”

We’ve all heard the stories from inside Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy gala, held the Saturday night before the annual Grammy Awards. There was then-rookie artist Alicia Keys performing her most high-profile gig yet in 2001 — and then duetting with Aretha Franklin two years later. Also in 2003, Rod Stewart hit the stage with Lou Reed for an unexpected duet.
It’s always been a hot ticket for those in the industry and an impossible ticket for those who aren’t — until now. On the new Billboard Pop Shop Podcast, the legendary music industry executive tells Katie and Keith about plans to make a documentary out of previously unseen footage from the A-list party, starting with its inception back in 1976.

“I’m working with [film and TV producers] Jesse Collins and Rob Ford and others to go through the history of our pre-Grammy gala,” Davis says on the podcast. “It’s been the hottest ticket … because you never know whether it was Prince, whether it was [Paul] McCartney, whether it was Sly and the Family Stone, they’d be in the audience along with the tastemakers, along with the heads of every motion picture studio, every record company. … So it’s a unique audience. But it’s the music, seeing the artists together that you would never have seen anywhere in your life. And we’re going to put a documentary together and propose it to Netflix and Paramount+.”

Now, the four-time Grammy Award-winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee says he’s ready to pull back the curtain on the famously exclusive event. “It’s time to open the ball and reveal it, and you won’t be disappointed,” Davis promises. “They have been jaw-dropping.”

Also in the interview, Davis regales the Pop Shop team with stories about five of the biggest artists he’s worked with over the decades: Whitney Houston, Dionne Warwick, Prince, P!nk and Usher. The timing of the interview was perfect, because the Billboard staff just chose Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” as the No. 1 entry on our list of the 500 Best Pop Songs, so we got to celebrate the news with the man behind the song — and he also offered up a couple of personal picks for his favorite Whitney songs.

Davis also discussed how Dionne Warwick has stayed relevant over the years, from her hilarious social media presence to Doja Cat sampling “Walk On By” for the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Paint the Town Red”; he recalled his spirited debates about the music business with late legend Prince; he traced P!nk’s evolution into a world-class live performer; and he chatted about why Usher is the right pick for the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show.

Also on the show, we’re celebrating the 10th anniversary this month of the Pop Shop Podcast, inviting back original co-host and pod founder Jason Lipshutz for the super-sized episode. We also have chart news on how Taylor Swift achieves her 10th No. 1 on the Hot 100 with a four-year old song, as “Cruel Summer” jumps 9-1, while Bad Bunny notches his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana.

If it seems like everyone has an opinion on Taylor Swift‘s reported romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce that’s because they do. Take, for instance, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons.
On this week’s episode of his The Edge with Micah Parsons podcast the two-time Pro Bowler offered up his opinion on why the two-time Super Bowl champ Kelce and the once-again unstoppable 6-1 Chiefs are crushing the AFC West competition as they sit on the best record in .

And, go figure, it has something to do with Kelce’s No. 1 fan, Swift.

“Travis Kelce’s my boy, the best tight end in the league for like the past three, four years, so it’s obviously not Taylor Swift,” Parsons said of the Taylor Effect; it’s worth noting that the Chiefs have won all four games that Swift has attended so far, after dropping their season opener, in which Kelce did not play. “But I’m gonna tell y’all one thing. When there is a bad girl and she’s in attendance and she’s watching you, that gives you an extra boost of confidence.”

Parsons added, “You know what Kelce’s doing. I know what’s going on. He was already doing it, so now it’s like ‘Yeah, I’m gonna do it more now.’ Like it’s a swagger. It’s a confidence when those things happen. Y’all know how it goes.”

Even typically buttoned-up Chiefs coach Andy Reid joked afterwards that somehow 11-season veteran Kelce, 34, just keeps getting better with age, but that Swift is also welcome to keep showing up and doing her secret pump-up handshakes. “Kelce keeps getting better with time,” Reid said after Sunday’s game according to SI. “Taylor can stay around all she wants.”

Swift attended her first Chiefs game on Sept. 24, where she watched from a friends and family box alongside Trav’s mom, Donna Kelce, and the Chief’s beat Chicago 41-10. She was on hand again, with an A-list group of friends (Sabrina Carpenter, Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman), at the Oct. 1 23-20 victory over the New York Jets, as well as KC’s Oct. 8 27-20 home win against the Minnesota Vikings, where she sis’d down with Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.

She was back in the box over the weekend with Brittany and the Kelce family for a 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, where Kelce finished with 12 catches for 179 years and two touchdowns. A stat that ran during Sunday’s game noted that Kelce has more than double the receiving yards per game (99) when Swift is in the house versus when he’s “left to his own devices” (46.5).

Last weekend, Swift and Kelce seemingly confirmed their long-rumored romance by holding hands on their way to the Oct. 14 SNL afterparty, just after they each made surprise cameos on the show’s season 49 premiere. The next day, they had dinner at a restaurant in the West Village, hand-in-hand again; to date neither Swift nor Kelce have confirmed their reported romance.
