Charli XCX is doing a full “360” on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live, where the pop superstar will serve as both the host and the musical guest. On Thursday (Oct. 31), the long-running comedy show announced the host and musical guests for it’s next two episodes. Following John Mulaney and Chappell Roan’s pre-election […]

As she prepares to wind-down the U.S. portion of her globe-hopping Eras Tour this weekend, Taylor Swift is still thinking about the last city she visited on the career-spanning outing. Chloe Fineman has a well-established reputation for doing wickedly funny celebrity impressions, from her killer Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears takes to her wacky, mega-energy JoJo Siwa, eerily accurate Timothée Chalamet, as well as perfect takes on Nicole Kidman, Elizabeth Olsen and, of course, her daffy Jennifer Coolidge.

So when Entertainment Tonight asked the comedian earlier this week if she was working on dialing in an impression of over-the-top pop star Chappell Roan for this weekend’s episode where the “Hot To Go” singer will be the musical guest alongside six-time host comedian John Mulaney, the typically game-for-anything Fineman wasn’t so sure.
“I might have one [an impression], but I also respect her too much that I’m like, ya know….” Fineman said of Roan, whose brash, colorful stage persona seems ripe for a Fineman take. “I feel like I have to get a temperature check,” Fineman added about what sounds like a game-time decision.

Fineman also said she was psyched for the combo of Roan and Mulaney — a stand-up star who was is also a former SNL writer — admitting, “that wasn’t necessarily on my vision board, the two of them together, so I’m excited.” In September, Fineman wore her Roan fandom on her sleeve, telling People that she ” definitely had a Chappell Roan summer, as we all did… So, I was like, I can’t believe I might get to be in the same building and sing ‘Pink Pony Club,’ you know? So we’ll see. Hopefully that will happen.”
Saturday’s show will mark Roan’s SNL debut. The singer appeared to tease her next era on Tuesday in an Instagram post in which she shared some selfies and hinted at the follow-up to breakthrough The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess album.
“Album kinda popped off imo but it is time to welcome a hot new bombshell into the villa,” she captioned the pics, in a reference to the Love Island catchphrase welcoming new contestants that led fans to speculate that she’s working on her sophomore LP. Producer Dan Nigro also revealed that the album is in the works earlier this month when he said the pair had completed five songs already, including a “fun, up-tempo country song,” a “couple of ballads” and a “mid-tempo rock song.”
Queer pop icons Scissor Sisters have announced a 2025 reunion tour slated to hit the U.K. and Ireland. The concerts will be their first since they went on hiatus in 2012 and will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, which went to No.1 in the U.K. upon release.

After teasing a comeback by projecting their iconic logo onto arenas across the U.K. in recent days, the band have shared the full run of dates they’ll be performing next year. The tour will begin on May 16 with a show in Nottingham and continue on to Glasgow, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Manchester, London, Leeds, Birmingham, Belfast before concluding in Dublin on May 28. See the full run of dates below. Tickets will go on sale on Nov. 8 from the band’s official website.
The group – composed of Jake Shears (vocals), Babydaddy (bass) and Del Marquis (guitar) – also confirmed that former bandmate Ana Matronic will not be a part of the reunion. A statement to accompany the announcement says that vocalist Matronic “has decided not to join the tour as she has other projects she is focusing on right now.”

“We’ve spent a lot of time collectively thinking about what we can add to our show that isn’t a ‘replacement’ for Ana in any way,” Marquis adds. “She’s part of the spirit of this band and we want to honour that.”
Matronic has responded to the news on her social media profile: “People familiar with my story and career arc will know that in the heart of this Showgirl lies a giant Nerd. In the past decade my Nerd self has taken the wheel and is now driving my career. I am currently finishing production on the first season of my history podcast Good Time Sallies which has grown into several long-term research & writing projects.”
She added: “With contracts signed and schedules agreed on these commitments, the timing of a Scissor reunion does not allow me to join my former bandmates on this tour. I wish the band and our fans all the best – I will be there in spirit to kiki with you!”
The group are planning to perform their 2004 debut Scissor Sisters in full alongside a selection of tracks from their three other studio efforts, 2006’s Ta-Dah, 2010’s Night Work and 2012’s Magic Hour. Scissor Sisters was the U.K.’s best-selling album in 2004 and has racked up more than three million in sales globally.
Speaking to The Independent, the band explained further why they decided to bring the anniversary celebrations and reunion to the U.K and Ireland. “The U.K. has always been a place where you don’t really have to fit into something that already exists,” said Marquis. “They appreciate idiosyncrasy, and appreciate a character, a personality. If anything can be said about our band, it’s that it’s not really like any other band. We didn’t make sense anywhere else, and it’s just like we clicked here.”

G-Dragon is reclaiming the spotlight on his terms.
The K-pop icon’s first single in seven years, “POWER,” drops Thursday (Oct. 31) as part of a new partnership with his Korean agency, Galaxy Corporation, and EMPIRE, the major independent record label that boasts Shaboozey on its roster.
Known for shattering K-pop conventions and cracking the Billboard charts early in K-pop’s rise as both the leader of boy band BIGBANG and as a solo artist, G-Dragon’s unmistakable confidence — “Guess who’s back/It’s your boy, GD!” — kicks off the hip-hop-infused, high-energy anthem. The comeback cut was co-written by G-Dragon alongside Tommy “TB Hits” Brown, Theron Thomas and Steven Franks.
“‘POWER’ manifests the essence of music,” G-Dragon said in a statement. “I express myself through music. This marks the beginning of a new era and I hope to inspire people who listen to my music.”
“G-Dragon is a cultural force that has laid the foundation for K-Pop’s global dominance,” added Ghazi, founder/CEO of EMPIRE. “This partnership reinforces our mission at EMPIRE to work alongside artists that will shape the future of global music.”

G-Dragon was signed to EMPIRE by the company’s newly appointed senior vp of East Asia, Jeffrey Yoo.
The signing with the indie label marks a new freedom for the Seoul superstar following his exit from longtime record label YG Entertainment (home to BLACKPINK, TREASURE and BABYMONSTER) last year after two decades.
During his time at YG, G-Dragon led BIGBANG in becoming the first K-pop act to land a Korean-language album on the Billboard 200 in March 2012. He’s also scored three solo entries on the Billboard 200 and held a record for the most entries on the tally among K-pop soloists for years; he now shares the record with BTS‘ RM and J-Hope. While his music career has led to collaborations with the likes of Diplo, Missy Elliot, Sky Ferreira, Skrillex and M.I.A., plus a placement on the 2023’s Elvis soundtrack, G-Dragon also became an integral figure in the fashion and art world with his streetwear brand PEACEMINUSONE along with campaigns with Chanel and Nike.
Looking ahead, the K-pop king will perform at the upcoming MAMA Awards in Japan on Nov. 23, marking his first performance in nearly a decade at the influential K-pop awards show. Earlier this month, Billboard also reported that Tencent Music Entertainment Group had partnered with Galaxy Corporation for his upcoming tour.

Elvis Costello is fully in support of Olivia Rodrigo. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer shared his thoughts on Rodrigo’s Sour album opener, “Brutal,” which seemingly took inspiration from his angsty 1978 anthem “Pump It Up.” He told the publication that artists “allude to [the song] in […]

Ethan Slater has largely kept his romance with Ariana Grande private, but he took a moment to carefully gush over the “Yes, And?” superstar in his recent cover story with GQ. At one point in the interview, Slater responded to rumors that Grande’s Eternal Sunshine track, “Imperfect for You” is about him. “Messy, completely distressed/ […]
Michael Jackson is in rarified air when it comes to billion-view music videos on YouTube. This week, the late King of Pop notched his fifth visual to cross that mark when the gangster-themed clip for his 1988 single “Smooth Criminal” crossed the 10-digit mark.
The track from Jackson’s seventh album, 1987’s Bad, was brought to vivid life by director Colin Chilvers, who tapped into a 1930 gangster nightclub vibe for one of MJ’s most beloved videos. Jackson also paid homage to one of his musical and dancing heroes in it via a white suit and matching fedora that tipped its hat to dancer/actor/singer Fred Astaire.
The nearly 10-minute mini movie opens with Jackson running to the door of an underground club — where he’s blasted by a gust of white wind — before entering to silence as the clubgoers stare him down warily. In classic MJ fashion, he flips a coin through the tense air, landing it perfectly into the slot of a juke box, which, of course, cues up the rhythmic Quincy Jones co-produced track.

What comes next is a clinic in classic Jackson, with the singer popping, locking and skittering across the club’s floor while executing some of his signature spins and fancy footwork while breaking hearts and deftly dispatching would-be assassins with his signature elan. The action culminates in the video’s centerpiece movie, the “anti-gravity lean,” during which the track drops out and time slows down, before the beat picks back up and the singer slides into his moonwalk and then appears to defy the rules of the physical universe by keeping his feet planted and back straight while his body dips into a nearly 45 degree angle before righting itself.
According to a 2018 article in The Telegraph, the stunt was achieved via unseen cables, because, as neurosurgeon Dr. Nishant Yagnick told the paper, “It’s not really possible physically to do it. He was cheating gravity.” Jackson later patented a specially designed shoe with a hook in it so that he could recreate the stunt live, as most humans are able to pull off, at best, a 30-degree lean without injuring themselves.
A group dance number brings things to a close as Jackson opens fire with a machine gun, sending the revelers running for the exits.
“Smooth Criminal” joins a handful of other all-time-classic Jackson videos with more than one billion YouTube views, including such beloved hits as “Beat It,” “Billie Jean,” “They Don’t Care About Us” and MJ’s Halloween-appropriate 14-minute scarefest, “Thriller.”
