Billboard‘s 2023 Women in Music event took place at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday (March 1), and brought out the several of the biggest and brightest stars who have cemented their impact within the music industry over the past year. In between acceptance speeches — Lana Del Rey, SZA, Rosalía were among the few to go home with an award — attendees were treated to performances from TWICE, Becky G, Kim Petras and more, but which was your favorite?

After receiving the Breakthrough Artist Award, the K-pop stars delivered a stunning showcase of its second-ever English single, “Moonlight Sunrise,” expertly performing the track’s choreography in unison, much to the delight of ONCEs in the audience.

Becky G, recipient of the Impact Award, took to the stage to perform a solo rendition of her Karol G collab “Mamiii,” backed by a guitarist, percussionist and two backing vocalists. “Lo que no sirve, que no estorbe/ Te metiste autogol por torpe/ Te quedó grande este torque/ Ya no estoy pa que de mí te enamores, baby/ Sin visa ni pasaporte/ Mandé tu falso amor de vacaciones,” she sang in Spanish.

Kim Petras, who used her Chartbreaker Award acceptance speech to plead for women’s body autonomy, performed her recently released dark-pop banger “brrr” under a blanket of billowing fog.

Doechii, Latto and Lainey Wilson also graced the stage for Women in Music, but which performance was your favorite? Vote in our poll below.

The last Friday of February brings a slew of new releases, including an all-star team-up between The Weeknd and Ariana Grande, Karol G‘s new album and more.

The Weeknd and Grande have returned to make magic again, this time with a 2023 remix of the crooner’s 2016 track “Die for You.” In light of the Starboy slow burner seeing a resurgence on the Billboard charts, thanks in part to TikTok, Grande hopped on the track to provide a swooping verse of her own, silky vocal runs and larger-than-life high notes. The track has so far peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, but the remix could potentially allow it to soar to new heights.

Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito is begging for virality, largely in part due to its sizzling Shakira collab “TQG,” which serves as a major kiss-off to both of their exes. But the album’s equally strong cuts — “Provenza,” “Cairo” with Ovy on the Drums and the Romeo Santos duet “X Is Solvemos” — further proves Karol is more than here to stay. (See Billboard‘s ranking of Mañana Será Bonito‘s collabs here.)

Jonas Brothers, Don Toliver, Gorillaz and Halsey — with “Die 4 Me,” not to be confused with the “Die for You” remix — all return with new releases, but which song or album is your favorite? Vote in the poll below, or enter your own pick for the best new music.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame unveiled its Class of 2023 nominees on Wednesday (Feb. 1), which includes a total of 14 musicians that are now eligible for induction into the Rock Hall this year.

The 14 artists nominated are Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, The Spinners, A Tribe Called Quest, The White Stripes and Warren Zevon.

This year’s Rock Hall nominees are rather unique — eight of the 14 artists up for induction into the 2023 Rock Hall are first timers, with two (The White Stripes and Missy Elliott) of the eight making it onto the shortlist in their first year of eligibility. Joy Division and New Order were notably combined into a single nomination, though it is not a first for the Rock Hall: Parliament/Funkadelic were inducted together in 1997, as were the (Young) Rascals (also in 1997) and Small Faces/Faces in 2012.

“This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates,” said John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “These artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”

Fans can vote for who they wish to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame through April 28 at vote.rockhall.com or, alternatively, in person at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland.

Happy new music Friday! This week’s round up of fresh tunes includes material from Sam Smith, one of 2022’s biggest hitmakers; Rosalía, a formidable force in the Latin pop space; and The Kid LAROI, who previously dominated the Billboard Hot 100 with a global smash.

Smith’s highly anticipated album Gloria is led by the sizzling No. 1 single “Unholy” featuring Kim Petras, which served as a window into Smith’s newfound voice. At the core of every track on the record is Smith embracing their newfound freedom, as seen in the sexually liberated anthem “I’m Not Here to Make Friends” and more vulnerable, confessional songs such as “Perfect.”

Latin pop star Rosalía switched things up with the release of “LLYM.” The Max Martin-assisted track sees the “Despechá” singer trading her native Spanish for English; she sings in a luscious falsetto and explores how disingenuous fake affection can be, and yet, craves it anyway. “I don’t need honesty/ Baby, lie like you love me, lie like you love me,” Rosalía pleads on the track.

After releasing introductory single “Can’t Go Back to the Way It Was” for his debut studio album, The Kid LAROI came back on Friday with the release of “Love Again.” Instead of a larger than life single, LAROI follows in the footsteps of his own breakthrough hit “Without You,” making himself vulnerable while pondering resolution in a relationship.

Chlöe, Zach Bryan and Lil Yachty also return with offers. With so many options, we want to know: Which release was your favorite? Vote in our poll below.

Call it the world-renown musician to animated movie character pipeline. Several of your favorite pop stars have dabbled in the realm of animated films, for feel good children’s comedies, story book to screen adaptations and otherwise, and it’s not hard to understand why: A voice that sells millions of records would be great for narrating an animate movie character. But Billboard wants to know which one is your favorite.

One of the most recent stars to turn into an animated movie character was Shawn Mendes in 2022’s Lyle, Lyle Crocodile. The “Wonder” singer was cast as the titular character of the movie — which is adapted from the 1965 Bernard Waber book of the same name — a crocodile named Lyle who lives a charmed life in New York City with the Primm family, assisting them with chores and being kind to their neighbors’ children. Unfortunately, things go awry when one neighbor insists Lyle be placed in a zoo.

Among other artists that have showed up on the big screen as animated characters are: Taylor Swift in The Lorax, Rihanna in Home, Beyoncé in Epic, Katy Perry in Smurfs, Selena Gomez in the Hotel Transylvania franchise, and Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez in Ice Age and more.

If you have a favorite, cast your vote in our poll to see what readers’ favorite animated character voiced by a musician is. Or, if we missed your favorite, you can add it to the other box so your vote can count.

From a surprise album release from Trippie Redd to a hypnotic new single from genre-bending star Kali Uchis and the first look at The Kid LAROI‘s debut studio album are among the new music that arrived on Jan. 20. Those are some pretty impressive offerings, but which is your favorite?

Redd dropped Mansion Musick — an ode to Chief Keef’s 2018 mixtape Mansion Musick — and brought in a host of heavy hitters to assist him on the project, with features including (but not limited to) Future, Lil Baby, Travis Scott, Juice WRLD and more, with Keef executive producing the album. Distorted guitars and trap beats decorate the tracks, which sees Redd rapping of his super star status to anyone who dares to doubt him.

Kali Uchis has yet again proven that her lush production and vocal delivery never fails with new track “I Wish You Roses.” Uchis bids her subject a fond farewell, all while showcasing her power as a masterful hook creator and proving that this year may be when she firmly steps into the spotlight of mainstream pop — that is, if her billing on this year’s Coachella lineup wasn’t already an indicator.

Meanwhile, “Stay” hitmaker The Kid LAROI is gearing up to release his debut LP, and shared new single “I Can’t Go Back to the Way It Was (Intro)” to give fans a first taste. The melancholic track sees Laroi sharing intimate details about his life, such as his relationship with his parents, and the difficulties that life often holds. The 19-year-old also struggles to keep up with the fast pace of his existence, and feels bad for the bridges he’s burned in the process — a subject complemented by thumping drum work and gossamer-like harmonies.

Ice Spice, Måneskin, Kim Petras and Mac DeMarco also return this week with new music.

Through a raunchy video that pays homage to her 1991 Truth or Dare documentary, Madonna announced that she’ll be hitting the road with her global Celebration Tour, honoring her 40-year career.

The 35-city trek, produced by Live Nation, is set to kick off in North America on July 15 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C., and will hit Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas and San Francisco before wrapping up in Las Vegas on Oct. 7. Madonna will then visit fans in Europe with confirmed dates in London and Amsterdam, to name a few.

The Queen of Pop will be joined by Bob the Drag Queen as a special guest on all the dates.

However, wouldn’t it be an extra treat for her loyal fandom to have some of her past collaborators as surprise guests as well, such as Maluma and Tokischa? Neither have been announced, but with the former, Madonna dropped “Medellín” in 2019, which hit No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart and No. 18 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. With the latter, she dropped a new remix to her 2005 hit “Hung Up” called “Hung Up on Tokischa.” The original track peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2005.

With the Celebration Tour happening this year, we’re hoping for yet another bonafide collab between Madonna and a Latin act. From Rosalia to Bad Bunny to Shakira, and more, who should she hit the studio with next? Vote below!

New music is blooming this week, and among the artists with offerings are Miley Cyrus, who is growing some self-love, and Shakira, who is taking jabs at an ex.

After two weeks of teasing, the former Disney Channel darling presented fans with “Flowers,” a midtempo disco-inspired tracked that sees Cyrus not so much reinventing herself, but falling into a natural progression of her multifaceted sound throughout the years. The song, which preaches of self-fulfillment after a breakup, serves as the first look at upcoming album Endless Summer Vacation, which is scheduled to arrive on March 10.

Shakira also returned with new music, hopping on volume 53 of Bizarrap’s Music Sessions, and using the opportunity to aim several shots at ex-partner soccer star Gerard Piqué. While the track features several scathing one liners — “This is for you to be mortified, to chew and swallow, swallow and chew,” she declares — Shakira shows that she continues to evolve with the times, and that her pen is mightier than the sword.

Following the hype of “Unholy,” Sam Smith delivered “Gimme,” another sultry track that sees them further embracing their sexuality and laying their desires on the line. Koffee and Jessie Reyez provide assists on the track, injecting it with a laid-back, dancehall-infused vibe.

Moneybagg Yo x Glorilla, PartyNextDoor and Margot Price round out this new music Friday. Of all the new music released this week, what are you putting on repeat? Vote in our poll below.

Since, the mariacheño artist has collected a number of chart-toppers, including his now-anthems “Me Dejé Llevar,” “No Te Contaron Mal” and “De Los Besos Que Te Di,” which also topped the tally for seven weeks on the Aug. 24, 2019 chart.

In total, he’s scored 19 entries on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, notching his 14th No. 1 with “Vivo en el 6” on July 30, 2022, ensuring his unbroken record of rulers among solo acts on Regional Mexican Airplay. Gerardo Ortiz, with 12, has the second-most No. 1s, and among all acts, Calibre 50 continues to lead with 22 champs.

In celebration of his birthday, Billboard compiled a playlist with all of Nodal’s No. 1 hits on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart starting with “Adiós Amor,” which peaked at No. 1 on the April 8, 2017 chart and ultimately put a then 18-year-old Nodal and his powerful vocals on the map.

The playlist navigates through other tracks of love and heartbreak including five key collaborations such as “Probablemente” with David Bisbal, “Dime Como Quieres” with Ángela Aguilar, “Duele” with Alejandro Fernández, “2 Veces” with Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho, and “La Sinverguenza” with Banda MS.

Below, revisit his 14 No. 1 bangers and vote for your favorite one in the poll.

2022 saw the release of several smash singles, with the year kicking into overdrive with Harry Styles’ hit “As It Was,” which nabbed the No. 1 spot for 15 weeks. In later months, TikTok gave rise Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habit,” before Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul” and Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” claimed the crown for the summer and winter months. But which hit was your favorite?

To find out, we polled our readers about which track from the past year was their favorite — which, of course, arrived after compiling our 100 ranked, favorite songs. The results are in, and the responses may surprise you.

The No. 1 favorite song of the year, according to readers, is Elton John and Britney Spears’ duet “Hold Me Closer.” The track, which debuted in August and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, secured more than 14,000 votes, which equated to nearly 45% of the vote. Coming in at No. 2 is Wizkid’s “Bad to Me,” which followed with almost 25% of the vote. Rounding out the top five is Anitta’s “Envolver,” BLACKPINK’s “Shut Down” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Vicious.”

As for “As It Was,” Styles’ hit placed at No. 6 on our poll, while Swift’s “Anti-Hero” finished at a close No. 7. Lacy’s “Bad Habit” ranked at No. 11, two places higher than “Cuff It.”
