Taylor Swift Urges Fans to Register to Vote: ‘I Know How Powerful’ Your Voices Are

You belong in the voting booth. That’s the message Taylor Swift sent to fans on Tuesday (Sept. 19), National Voting Day. In a message posted to her Instagram Stories, the pop superstar once again urged Swifties to register to vote if they haven’t yet.

“I’ve been so lucky to see so many of you guys at my US shows recently,” she said in her all-text message, which was written in white on a blue ombre background. “I’ve heard you raise your voices, and I know how powerful they are. Make sure you’re ready to use them in our elections this year!”

“Register to vote in less than 2 minutes at vote.org/nvrd,” the 12-time Grammy winner — who has more than 272 million Instagram followers, concluded her message.

This is far from the first time the “Cruel Summer” singer has reminded her fans of the importance of performing their civic duties. She has partnered with Vote.org — a non-partisan, non-profit organization voting registration platform — to encourage people to cast their ballots.

Swift recently urged fans in Nashville to hit the polls in July, letting her followers on social media know that she had already voted in the local election, noting on Instagram, “We have the opportunity to choose those who will represent us for the next four years.”

Andrea Hailey, the CEO of Vote.org, also urged people to register. “Today, on National Voter Registration Day, it’s vital that young voters, in particular, understand they have the power to shape their future. Eight million young people will be newly eligible voters by Election Day 2024. And, the time is now to get ready for the elections taking place this fall and next year,” she said in a statement shared with Billboard. “Several states have elections in November of this year and many other states will have primaries in the first few months of 2024. That’s why this National Voter Registration Day is so important: we’re at the starting line of the next presidential election.”

“It takes less than 30 seconds on Vote.org to check if you’re registered. Our country works best when we all show up. Let’s get ready, get set and get registered to vote,” she concluded. “Our future starts now.”

Fulton County DA Fani Willis Checks Rep. Jim Jordan Over Trump Case

Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney leading the prosecution against Donald Trump and over a dozen co-conspirators in a RICO case, has proven her mettle time and again. In a fiery rebuke of Republican Party Rep. Jim Jordan, Fani Willis explicitly told the congressman that his investigation into the RICO case makes it appear that he’s out of his legal depths.

Fani Willis sent Rep. Jordan a nine-page letter addressing his plans to investigate her office’s probe into the affairs of Trump and the others named in the RICO case, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. From her viewpoint, Willis sees Jordan’s attempt to look further into her tactics as a form of interfering with the matter.

Jordan, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, requested to see communication between the Fulton County DA’s office and the Justice Department as it relates to both the RICO case and the Justice Department also indicting Trump for alleging attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election in his favor. Jordan’s stance is that Willis is interfering with the 2024 elections and jeopardizes the rights of Trump, who leads all polls as the GOP candidate, and the other defendants named in the case.

In a letter sent out on Thursday (September 7), Willis did not hold back from addressing Jordan’s concerns and the aims of his investigation.

Willis also responded to allegations she is unfairly targeting Trump. She said his “status as a political candidate cannot make him legally immune from criminal prosecution.” She noted the special grand jury recommended charges in the case, and a separate jury issued indictments.

“Face this reality, Chairman Jordan: the select group of defendants who you fret over in my jurisdiction are like every other defendant, entitled to no worse or better treatment than any other American citizen,” she wrote.

Willis blasted Jordan’s request for information as illegal and improper.

“Your letter makes clear that you lack a basic understanding of the law, its practice and the ethical obligations of attorneys generally and prosecutors specifically,” she wrote.

Jordan’s office has yet to make a public reply or statement regarding Willis’ letter.

MAGA Cap: Donald Trump Has Been Lying About His Net Worth, Per Letitia James

At this point, to say ex-President Donald Trump is a liar is like saying the sky turns less blue when the weather is bad. The man just got roasted like a rust-orange-colored rotisserie chicken for understating his weight by what at least looks like about 100 pounds. We’ve been clowning this clown for going on three years now for continuously lying about the 2020 election being stolen from him. Now, according to the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James, it turns out Trump has been less than honest about how rich he is.

According to CBS News, James’ office claimed in a filing made public on Wednesday that Trump has overstated his net worth by between $812 million and $2.2 billion each year between 2011 and 2021. Now, if it’s true that Trump’s math has been miss-mathing by that much, it’s more than just an embellishment or act of overstating a thing.

Trump is out here lying.

Fibbing. Falsifying. Perjuring himself. Dissembling. Misrepresenting. Untruthinating (I made that one up). Equivocating. Deceiving.

He. Is. A. Whole. LIE!

But then we already knew that.

The allegations were raised in an Aug. 4 filing seeking a partial summary judgment in the office’s 2022 lawsuit accusing members of the Trump family and Trump Organization executives of orchestrating an extensive, fraudulent scheme related to valuations of property and Trump’s personal financial statements.

James’ office is seeking $250 million and sanctions that would halt the company’s operations in the state and drastically impair the ability of Trump, Eric Trump or Donald Trump Jr. to do business in New York.

The case is scheduled for trial in October, but James’ office is asking a judge to first rule against the Trumps in one facet of the case, certain allegations related to fraud. If granted, other claims, including allegations related to falsification of records and issuing false financial statements, would still be considered at trial.

“No trial is required for the court to determine that defendants presented grossly and materially inflated asset values…repeatedly in business transactions to defraud banks and insurers,” Andrew Amer, an attorney for James’ office wrote in the filing.

As CBS noted: “A summary judgment motion argues that certain material facts are not in dispute, and as a result, the judge is already in a position to make a decision based on them — avoiding the need to raise them at trial.” So, basically, James and her people are saying they can prove with unimpeachable evidence that Trump isn’t the baller he claims to be on paper, so there’s no need for a trial. The court just needs to see the evidence and make its ruling.

Of course, Trump’s legal team are seeking a dismissal of the suit altogether. His reason can be summarized in a single question: Why you bringing up old sh*t?

Mitch McConnell Froze Again In Front Of The Press

Mitch McConnell once more appeared to have a medical episode during a meeting with the press, sparking some people from his own party to question the Kentucky Republican’s health. This is the second time in weeks that Sen. McConnell has appeared to freeze up while taking questions from the media.

As reported by the Associated Press, Mitch McConnell was captured on video by local Kentucky news station WLWT answering a question about a 2026 reelection bid on Wednesday (August 30). While attempting to answer, McConnell, 81, began to speak and then stared off at the throng for several seconds before he was assisted. The moment was similar to an event weeks ago in Washington where McConnell froze up while speaking to reporters.

In all, McConnell appeared unable to speak for half a minute before resuming. The moment in Covington, Ky. underscores concerns about McConnell’s age and concerns around his health. Back in July at a news conference at the Capitol building, McConnell was rushed away from speaking by aides and came back to continue to answer the media.

McConnell also returned to speak at the Covington event but did not answer the 2026 campaign question and was not speaking as clearly as he normally would. The aide ended the news conference and led McConnell away.

A press statment from McConnell’s office states that the senator was feeling “lightheaded” and would consult with a doctor before his next appearance. Prior to the freezing moment, McConnell showed no signs of issues speaking and communicating.

X fka Twitter To End Ban On Political Ads Ahead Of 2024 Presidential Race

Early this year, after Elon Musk had finalized his purchase of the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, the Tesla CEO announced that it would relax its ban on political ads, which had been implemented in 2019. Well, now, it appears that Musk has made good on that promise and has announced that X will not only allow the ads but is promising transparency and “robust screening processes.”

From Deadline:

“Building on our commitment to free expression, we are also going to allow political advertising,” said a blog post today by X Safety called ‘Supporting people’s right to accurate and safe political discourse on X’ that outlined its plans.

“Starting in the U.S., we’ll continue to apply specific policies to paid-for promoted political posts. This will include prohibiting the promotion of false or misleading content, including false or misleading information intended to undermine public confidence in an election, while seeking to preserve free and open political discourse. We’ll also provide a global advertising transparency center so that everyone can review political posts being promoted on X, in addition to robust screening processes to ensure only eligible groups and campaigns are able to advertise,” the post read.

It noted that “more than half a billion people from around the world gather on X to talk about their interests in real-time, and that includes elections. X enables people to directly engage on important topics with elected representatives, local or national leaders and fellow citizens.”

And it said that during elections, “X works to get in front of a range of tactics that people use to target the process. To do this we hire the right people, update our policies and evolve our product.”

So what it seems like is that Musk’n’nem are allowing political ads again just in time for the 2024 presidential race. Musk, who is more of a political and social right-winger than he likes to admit, could be trying to use X to bolster political support for Donald Trump, or whatever other Republican looks like they might be next in line if Trump’s legal issues get in the way of him getting his orangey-rust dust all over the Oval Office furniture once again.

But at least he’s promising not to allow X to become the cesspool of election fraud propaganda and political misinformation Twitter was when Trump and Trump acolytes like Marjorie Taylor Green were allowed to run wild on the platform and lie all they wanted.

Although come to think of it, all of that was going on while Twitter was still banning political ads, so who knows?

Eminem Aims Cease-And-Desist Letter At GOP Presidential Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy

Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican Party presidential candidate, will no longer be able to play the music from one of Hip-Hop’s most celebrated stars while on the campaign trail. Eminem, via the BMI organization, filed a cease-and-desist letter towards Ramaswamy over the track “Lose Yourself,” who says he will comply but not without taking a swipe at the veteran rapper.

Daily Mail exclusively reports that BMI informed Ramaswamy’s campaign office of Eminem’s desire to no longer license the song for use during his run for the White House.

The outlet adds that the letter from BMI was dated August 23 which said they “received communications from Marshall B. Mathers, III, professionally known as Eminem, objecting to the Vivek Ramaswamy campaign’s use of Eminem’s musical compositions (the “Eminem Works”) and requesting that BMI remove all Eminem Works from the Agreement.”

Ramaswamy was seen rapping a version of “Lose Yourself” at the Iowa State Fair and, as per BMI’s request on behalf of the rapper born Marshall Mathers III, he will no longer have the rights to do so.

Ramaswamy, 38, has emerged of late as an outspoken candidate full of quips and soundbites and is the youngest candidate among the presidential hopefuls that include the likes of Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott, former Vice President Mike Pence, and current Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The businessman made an appearance on MSNBC and fired back at Eminem over the “Lose Yourself” cease-and-desist, challenging the rapper’s politics. Most might know that Eminem has been critical of the so-called MAGA movement and former President Donald Trump so it appears clear where his political affiliations are placed.

Republican Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy Shades Eminem After Cease & Desist

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has giving his thoughts after Eminem’s performing rights organization BMI sent him a cease-and-desist letter for the use of his song, “Lose Yourself.”

“I’ll respect his wishes,” the politician told MSNBC, before referencing the rapper’s “The Real Slim Shady” song. “But I’ll just say, will the real Slim Shady please stand up?”

He continued, “Eminem, in his rise, used to be a guy who stood up to the establishment and said the things that the establishment didn’t want him to say. I think the fact that my political viewpoints may differ from his — I think people will change over the course of their lives. But I have hope for him, that he will one day rediscover the renegade that made him great. And I’m rooting for that success in his life.”

Earlier this week, Ramaswamy retweeted a Daily Mail article detailing the cease-and-desist letter after the candidate rapped rapped the lyrics to “Lose Yourself” while campaigning on stage at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines on August 12. “Will The REAL Slim Shady Please Stand Up? He didn’t just say what I think he did, did he?” he tweeted along with a laughing emoji.

YG Drops New T-Shirts Using Donald Trump’s Mug Shot

YG’s disdain for former President Donald Trump has reached new levels. The rapper released T-shirts thrashing the controversial figure over the former president’s Aug. 24 arrest in Georgia on felony charges of plotting to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.

The $35 merch, announced Friday (Aug. 25), uses Trump’s mug shot with the caption “F—-d” and is available on YG’s 4Hunnid.com website. Listed as the “FDT T-shirt” — a callback to the rapper’s 2016 anthem “F– Donald Trump” featuring Nipsey Hussle — YG’s lambasted the former president on numerous occasions.

“It got to a point where [Trump] was disrespectin’, saying s–t that makes no sense,” the rapper told Billboard following the release of “FDT.” “Me and Nip always talk about doing real s–t about these politics, stepping up and saying stuff other motherf—ers are not doing so we finally hit the studio and really did it.”

Following the release of “FDT,” YG claimed that the Secret Service reached out to his former label, Def Jam. “Secret Service hollered at the label,” he told TMZ at the time. “They asked if they could see the lyrics on my album to see if I’m talking about it on my album. ‘Cause I’m talking about it on my album, they gon’ try to take it off the shelf.”

YG continued to skewer Trump throughout the years, most notably in 2019 when he brought out former adult entertainer Stormy Daniels to bash the former president during the rapper’s Camp Flog Gnaw performance. Then in 2020, YG released his “Jealous” video, which mocked the twice impeached politician.

Green Day Is Selling ‘Nimrod’ Shirts With Donald Trump’s Mugshot

Green Day is mocking Donald Trump’s mugshot for a good cause.

The former president was booked at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on Thursday (Aug. 24) on felony charges related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, and while it’s his fourth indictment this year, the booking marked the first time Trump’s mug shot was taken.

Green Day has now taken the historic photo and put it on merch. The band took to Instagram on Friday (Aug. 25) to share a photo of a black t-shirt that features their Nimrod. album art with the original portraits replaced by the mugshot. “Good Riddance,” they fittingly captioned the photo, in reference to one of the album’s biggest hits.

Proceeds from the shirt, which is priced at $35 and available for 72 hours, will go towards Greater Good Music, which is currently helping bring food to the victims of the Maui wildfires.

Fulton County authorities took mug shots of all 19 people charged in the case, which besides Trump, included his lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell as well as his former chief of staff Mark Meadows. Trump left the jail on a $200,000 bond.

Nimrod., which was released in 1997, peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 albums chart following its release and spent an impressive 70 total weeks on the chart.

Oliver Anthony Addresses ‘Rich Men’ Discussion During GOP Debate: ‘I Wrote That Song About Those People’

The first Republican debate on Wednesday night (Aug. 23) kicked off with a question about this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart topper, Oliver Anthony Music’s “Rich Men North of Richmond.”

“As we sit here tonight, the No. 1 song on the Billboard chart is called ‘Rich Men North of Richmond.’ It is by a singer from Farmville, Virginia, named Oliver Anthony. His lyrics speak of alienation, a deep frustration with the state of government and of this country,” co-moderator Martha MacCallum said to the candidates. “Washington D.C. is about 100 miles north of Richmond,” she continued. “Why is this song striking such a nerve in this country right now?”

On Friday (Aug. 25), Anthony himself took to YouTube to share his thoughts about his whirlwind success, and about how his song has made its way into political discussions. “The one thing that has bothered me is seeing people wrap politics up into this,” the singer said in the 10-minute clip. “It’s aggravating seeing people on conservative news trying to identify with me like I’m one of them.”

He continued, “It seems like certain people want to ride the attention of this song to make their own selves relevant, and that’s aggravating as hell. The other thing that I find aggravating is, well, it was funny seeing my song at the presidential debate, because I wrote that song about those people. For them to sit there and listen to that, that cracks me up.”

Anthony explained that “Rich Men” has “nothing to do with Joe Biden, and it’s a lot bigger than Joe Biden,” before doubling down that the songs are written about “those people on that stage” and other politicians.

“I hate to see that song being weaponized,” he added. “That s— has got to stop.”

Anthony’s breakout viral hit “Rich Men North of Richmond” debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. Among other chart achievements for the singer-songwriter, he’s the first artist ever to launch atop the list with no prior chart history in any form.
