Donald Trump’s controversial appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention happened as scheduled on Wednesday, July 31, and as many predicted, it was a slow-moving, dumpster fire of a train wreck. While the moderators coolly delivered their questions, the ex-president came out defensive, and it was only downhill from there with some new brain-twisting and racist answers mixed in with the usual inflammatory rhetoric you’ve come to expect from the hostile candidate.
It all happened in Chicago, where ABC’s Rachel Scott, FOX News’ Harris Faulkner and Semafor politics reporter Kadia Goba were tasked with holding Trump to account in front of a crowd of Black journalists. The jig was already apparent when NABJ announced there would be no questions from the audience.

Renowned political reporter April D. Ryan, has been particularly critical, and candid, about the NABJ’s decision to move ahead with the Q&A despite protestations from most everyone. “Trump came into our home, a Black Press advocacy convention, and insulted us in our face,” tweeted Ryan. “What is worse he was invited to do this by NABJ leadership. Shame!”

And that isn’t hyperbole. Although the convo was scheduled to start at 1 p.m. ET, it wasn’t until over an hour later that the event properly began. On social media, the rumor was Trump not wanting to be fact-checked was holding up the start. But during the early portion of the chat, Trump claimed the delay was due to the NABJ having issues with their microphones and sound equipment.
As for the interview itself, when Scott came out with a searing question, Trump lost his cool.
“A lot of people did not think it was appropriate for you to be here today. You have pushed false claims about some of your rivals — from Nikki Haley to former President Barack Obama — saying that they were not born in the United States, which is not true,” began Scott. “You have told four congresswomen of color, who were American citizens, to go back to where they came from. You have used words like ‘animal’ and ‘rabid’ to describe Black district attorneys. You have attacked Black journalists, calling them a loser, saying the questions that they ask are, quote, ‘stupid and racist.’ You’ve had dinner with a white supremacist at your Mar-a-Lago resort. So my question, sir, now that you are asking Black supporters to vote for you: Why should Black voters trust you, after you have used language like that?”
The weird and racist factor rose exponentially with Trump responding, “First of all, I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner.”
But but wait, it gets worse. Peep some of the weirdest Trump answers in the gallery.

1. Why should Black voters trust you?

Trump even brought out the “fake news” greatest hit of malarkey and also claimed the production was a half-hour later. But the kicker was his assertion that, “I have been the best president for the Black population since Abraham Lincoln.”

2. Late in the convo, he was still mad about the first question.

Triggered much? But Scott kept it cool. “I repeated your statement actually,” she said. Welp.

3. Scott corners Trump about his pledge to pardon J6 rioters.

This is an example of the crowd laughing AT you.

4. Kamala Harris once wasn’t Black, allegedly.

In an ultimate sign of disrespect, Donald Trump claimed that he didn’t know that Kamala Harris was Black until a few years ago.
“She was always of Indian heritage and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black? I respect either one.”
Disgusting.
Fact check, she has always identified as a Black woman and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., which she joined while attending Howard University, an HBCU.

5. Trump doesn’t respect Black women.

He claimed he won the classified documents case in Florida. He did not.

7. What about Project 2025?

As soon as Faulkner was poised to ask a question about Project 2025, the interview was over. The jig is sky high.

8. Black jobs crisis?

During his usual border fearmongering, Trump was asked what’s a Black job? His answer: “A Black job is anybody that has a job.”
Thanks for clearing that up, says no one.

9. The whole interview.

A whopping 34 minutes of tomfoolery.

Megan Thee Stallion is ready to be Kamala Harris’ body-ody-ody-ody-ody-ody-ody-ody guard.   After performing at the politician’s campaign rally in Atlanta Tuesday (July 30), the rapper — dressed to impress in a blue pantsuit — posted a video backstage with her backup dancers doing the viral TikTok choreography to her song “Mamushi.” In her caption, she […]

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” has infiltrated election season. Kamala Harris hosted a rally as the likely Democratic party nominee in the upcoming presidential election on Tuesday night (July 30) in Atlanta, and K. Dot’s Drake diss was played at one point.
Footage from the vice president’s livestream of the rally quickly went viral on social media, with the crowd singing along to “Not Like Us” and especially joining together for the “wop, wop, wop” and “A-minor” punch lines. One male fan specifically went viral for his passion while rapping to the song.

“The way everything in this song can apply to Trump too,” a fan responded on X. “She is so smart.”

Another added a shot in at Drake: “Even in presidential rally drake getting cooked!”

Even nearly three months following the release of “Not Like Us,” the track hasn’t lost steam while sitting at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated Aug. 3. Lamar’s Drake diss has been swallowed up by other avenues of pop culture, including the political realm and the sports world.

Hip-hop was definitely in the building on Tuesday night, with Quavo also endorsing the vice president and speaking about his commitment to gun safety following the loss of his nephew Takeoff, who was fatally shot in November 2022.

“One of these issues that I care about is resolving the gun violence issues,” Quavo said to the crowd. “You can’t understand the struggle of gun violence if you not in the field or in the heart of it. So, one thing I learned from working with Vice President Harris is she always stand on business. From inviting me to the White House last year to discuss these solutions, to passing the biggest gun safety laws today.”

Megan Thee Stallion also hit the Atlanta rally stage in a blue pantsuit with her dancers, where she performed hits such as “Body” and the Yuki Chiba-assisted “Mamushi.”

“Now I know my ladies in the crowd love their bodies. If you want to keep loving your bodies, you know who to vote for,” she said to kick off her performance.

It remains to be seen if “Not Like Us” will remain a part of Harris’ campaign when she heads to Philadelphia next week (Aug. 6) for a rally where she’ll unveil her VP pick, per Reuters.

President Joe Biden stepped down from the presidential race on July 21, and plenty of artists have backed Harris in her pursuit of the Oval Office, including Cardi B, Lizzo, Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, Questlove and more.

During an appearance on Candace Owens’ podcast, Amber Rose claimed that her ex-husband Wiz Khalifa encouraged her to endorse former president Donald Trump.
Around the 28:55 mark, the subject of Rose’s infamous photo with Trump and his wife Melania came up, and Owens asked when the model decided to make her political affiliation public. “My ex-husband actually told me to do it — Wiz,” Amber responded. “He told me to do it, yeah. Although, he’s not political at all and he’s not voting — he doesn’t want to be in that world whatsoever. He’s really one of my best friends, I love him so much, still to this day. He’s just such a great person.”

She continued, “But I went to him and I was just like, ‘I feel like I’m living a lie.’ And it’s so much more than Trump, but just me as a person. I was just like, ‘I’m so unhappy. I’m starting to hate everyone,’ and I was never like that. I was always full of love. I just wanna be me and I don’t know how to be me.”

Rose added: “I told him I wanted to post the picture. He’s like, ‘Amber, post that sh–.’ … I’m like, ‘For real? I should?’ He’s like, ‘Do it. Who cares? You’re voting for Trump, is that what you wanna do?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m kind of really into it.’ … He put a battery in my back and I was like, ‘All right, I’m gonna do it.’”

Since posting that picture on her Instagram back in May, Rose has become an ardent supporter of Trump’s campaign. She gave a speech at the Republican National Convention earlier this month, where she claimed that the media lied about Trump and his supporters being racists and bigots.

“[I] care about the truth, and the truth is that the media has lied to us about Donald Trump. I know this because for a long time I believed those lies,” she said, later adding, “I realized Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, white, gay or straight. It’s all love. And that’s when it hit me: These are my people. This is where I belong.”

Donald Trump, the Republican Party nominee for the upcoming presidential election, has had his character called into question several times while in the White House and after his ouster.  On X, the trending hashtag #TrumpIsWeird grew legs and the comments from the social media platform have been relentless in their attacks.
Donald Trump, who turned 78 this past June, was long seen as the Republican Party favorite before his official nomination, as evidenced by his well-attended, if thinly organized, rallies and public speeches. With the Democratic Party positioning Vice President Kamala Harris as his prospective opponent, both sides are ramping up their efforts to get in front of cameras and crowds before the all-important election.
In the midst of this, Trump and his supporters have made especially targeted attacks towards Vice President Harris, but it appears to be backfiring as the mudslinging has inspired observers in the land of X to create the #TrumpIsWeird hashtag while pointing out some uncomfortable points.
It appears that the hashtag got started a couple of days ago and isn’t letting up on putting the business mogul through the wringer. There have been some pushback from the MAGA faithful, notably from businessman and failed Republican Party presidential nominee Vivek Ramaswamy.
“This whole “they’re weird” argument from the Democrats is dumb & juvenile. This is a presidential election, not a high school prom queen contest. It’s also a tad ironic coming from the party that preaches “diversity & inclusion.” Win on policy if you can, but cut the crap please,” Ramaswamy wrote on X over the weekend. This inspired people to turn up their attacks Ramaswamy caught more than a few strays himself.
We’ve got reactions to Donald Trump, the #TrumpIsWeird hashtag, and more below.
