We take a look back at The Beatles‘ chart achievements in the latest episode of Billboard‘s Pop Culture Rewind.

There’s no group like The Beatles. Before BTS, before Taylor Swift, The Beatles captivated fans with Beatle Mania, and the legendary band had the hits to back up the hysteria. We break down their Billboard chart achievements in this week’s Pop Culture Rewind.

From “I Want to Hold Your Hand” in 1964 to making us “Come Together,” The Beatles have amassed a record-setting 20 No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100, the most of any artist. At one point The Beatles held all top five spots on the chart with everybody wanting to “Twist and Shout.” That record was held until September of 2021, when Drake grabbed the top five slots.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr are one of the most influential groups of all time, setting the standard for fan culture, boy bands and more. Get this: They also have 19 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 with projects like Please Please Me and Abbey Road, bringing them to a whopping 132 weeks at No. 1, easily ranking them as the act with the most weeks atop the chart.

It’ll be a long time before anyone ever does it again quite like The Beatles.

We love Mariah Carey, and as a record breaker and the queen of the Billboard charts, what a moment it was when she received the Icon Award of the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. We take you to that moment in this week’s Pop Culture Rewind.

Thank you, Billboard, for letting me grow up on the charts with you.

Evan Burke:
The legendary vocalist has amassed a record 19 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, the most of any solo artist, which is why at the 2019 VMAs, she received the iconic award.

To anybody who doesn’t allow themselves to be broken and keeps getting up and keeps holding on and keeps standing tall, keeps on believing and keeps rising, I celebrate you tonight.

Evan Burke:
The humble queen gave the crowd a true lesson in self-love after going through a medley of her biggest hits like “Emotions” and “Hero.” But we all know Mariah is just as known for her lovable diva personality as her high notes. Queue this viral moment … I just want to know who caught the tissue.

We’re taking a look at the chart history of pop superstar The Weeknd and the moment his song “Blinding Lights” topped Billboard‘s list of Greatest of All Time Hot 100 Songs, spending a record 90 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.

Evan Burke:
From blinding us with his lights to saving us from our tears, The Weeknd has amassed quite the list of Billboard hits, including the biggest Hot 100 songs of all time. We break it down in today’s Pop Culture Rewind.

Although The Weeknd had already been churning out music, he didn’t first reach the Billboard Hot 100 until 2012, and it was with an assist from Drake on “Crew Love,” a track from the fellow Canadian’s album Take Care. Later that year, The Weeknd — real name Abel — grabbed his first solo track on the list with “Wicked Games.”

His first top 10 was with who would become a frequent collaborator — Ariana Grande on her “Love Me Harder” in 2014. The world had grown to know who he was, and by August 2015, he nabbed his first Hot 100 No.1 hit with “Can’t Feel My Face.”

By 2021, he’d gone on to take the world’s biggest stage at the Super Bowl and grab a total of nine No.1 hits including the biggest Hot 100 hit of all time, “Blinding Lights.” That year, the massive song dethroned Chubby Checker’s 1960 smash “The Twist” as Billboard‘s greatest song of all time based on total weeks on the chart, as well as exact chart positions. The tracks spent 90 weeks on the Hot 100 with four of them at No.1.

They danced again because their “Hips Don’t Lie.” Jennifer Lopez and Shakira joined forces for the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show, and it was one for the history books. We take you back to that moment in today’s Pop Culture Rewind. There was hit after hit after hit when these superstars took the field in Miami during Super Bowl LIV. The show was the first in history to include an exclusively Latin lineup, including surprise moments from Reggaeton kings Bad Bunny and J Balvin. In her Netflix documentary, J. Lo spoke about packing so much into one performance.

Evan Burke:
Some of the biggest highlights included Shakira drawing inspiration from around the world, and J. Lo’s epic air shows, spinning high above the field. J. Lo’s daughter even joined her to make an emotional statement, and both Shakira and J. Lo closed the show together with “Let’s Get Loud.” We could have watched 15 more minutes of that, but hey, football.
