Sha’Carri Richardson, the world’s defending women’s 100 meters champion, will make her bid to make the women’s U.S. Olympics Track and Field team this weekend. All eyes will undoubtedly be on Sha’Carri Richardson after she was denied the opportunity to sprint for gold in 2021.
As reported by NBC News, Sha’Carri Richardson, 24, comes into this weekend’s U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Ore. as a heavy favorite after posting the top qualifying time entering the 100s at 10.65 seconds.
Richardson is hoping to qualify for the 2024 Paris Games after being suspended for one month after the Olympic trials after testing positive for THC which kept her from competing in the Tokyo Games. If she qualifies, it will be Richardson’s first Olympics appearance.
More from NBC News:
In the women’s 100-meter event, Richardson is aiming to set her own records and conquer her Olympic dream after she missed out on competing in the 2020 Tokyo Games after a positive test for cannabis.
….
Richardson ran her fastest 100-meter time at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in August. Her 10.65 was just off the 10.49-second world record U.S. star Florence Griffith-Joyner set in 1988.
There will be four heats in the 100s’ preliminary round, of which Richardson will be in the fourth heat. The top six sprinters in each of the quartet of heats, and the top three fastest to cross the finish line will advance to the semifinals.
As all eyes will certainly be on her, Sha’Carri Richardson will take to the track for the women’s 100 at 8:53 ET/5:53 PT. The semifinals will take place on Saturday (June 22) at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT.
NBA, USA Network, and Peacock will air particular portions of the trials. Check your local listings.

When Snoop Dogg was announced as part of the NBC broadcast team covering this summer’s Olympic games in Paris you might be forgiven for saying “tu quoi?” But in proof that you can teach an old Dogg new tricks, the Doggfather posted an adorable video on Monday in which his granddaughter Cordoba — daughter of Snoop’s son, Cordell — helped him brush up on his French in a promo video that is cuter than all those kids dropping endless f-bombs in The Underdoggs.
“What’s going on, everybody? It’s big Snoop Dogg, coming at you live and direct,” Snoop says in the clip in which he’s dressed in a pink jacket embroidered with the phrase “Daddy’s Lil Girl” and a colorful flower head scarf. “As you know, I’m doing the Olympics this year live from Paris, so I wanted to get some lessons in French. So I went out and hired me a French teacher to teach me some words. Say hello to my French teacher, Cordoba.”

As the camera pans out to reveal the all-pink room and a colorful tea party set-up on the table in front of him we get our first glimpse of his adorable tutor, rocking a matching pink jacket and the biggest smile you can imagine. As a fancy baroque piano soundtrack bubbles up, Snoop straps in for his lesson, which begins with Cordoba shuffling through her flash cards and pouring some imaginary tea.
“The word is ‘ice cream,’” Snoop says in teeing up the obviously most important phrase he’s going to need to know for his steamy sojourn in the French capital this summer. “I think how you say it is ‘cream le ice?’,” the Long Beach native suggests. Wrong. “‘Glace,’” Cordoba corrects him.
“How do I say ‘Eiffel Tower?’” wonders Snoop, who previously reported for NBC during the Tokyo Olympics four years ago. Cordoba shoots a perfectly quizzical look at the camera and flashes the correct card, which Snoop reads back as “Tour Eiffel.” Growing weary pretty quickly — or maybe just suffering from the munchies — Snoop gripes, “I thought we was gonna be eating ice cream and cake and stuff,” as he cues up the correct way to say “goodbye.”
After a few snacks Snoop bids au revior, saying, “there you have it, I got me some French lessons, learned a couple of words, little bit of etiquette, how to pour some tea and how to eat some candy. Be sure to check me out at the Olympics 2024.”
Snoop will be part of NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Summer Olympics in Paris this summer during the Olympic primetime show beginning July 26 on NBC and Peacock; the games will last through August 11. In addition to offering his unique takes alongside veteran NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico, Snoop will also explore the City of Light’s most iconic landmarks, attend some events and visit with athletes, according to NBC.

The Men’s U.S. Basketball team for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is being rounded out. Some of your favorite NBA superstars will be partaking in the event this summer while others will remain in America to cheer on their professional peers from the comfort of their own homes.
According to ESPN, Team USA will be featuring some of today’s icons and legends on the roster as the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid will be taking the court to represent the red, white and blue. Pacing on the sidelines to coach the upcoming superstar roster will be the Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr. Kerr’s no stranger to leading his team to the promised land as he’s helped his Warriors bring home four NBA Championships but has no Olympic gold in his illustrious trophy room. (The man also won a few championship rings alongside the GOAT, Michael Jordan).
The rest of the roster will feature some pretty big names who’ve been making much noise this season and seem Hall of Fame bound when it’s all said and done.
ESPN reports:
U.S. basketball is planning to formally announce this 11-man roster that also includes Lakers forward Anthony Davis, Suns guard Devin Booker, Minnesota guard Anthony Edwards, Boston forward Jayson Tatum, Boston guard Jrue Holiday, Miami center Bam Adebayo and Indiana guard Tyrese Haliburton, sources said.
James is playing in his fourth Olympics, a career that includes a bronze medal in 2004 and gold medals in 2008 and 2012.
Haliburton and Edwards are the only players from the non-medalist 2023 FIBA World Cup team who were selected for the Olympic Games.
Naturally, Knick fans were outraged that the team’s MVP, Jalen Brunson, wasn’t added to the team given the standout year that he’s been having thus far. Averaging 28.7 PPG and 6.7 assists per game, Brunson has carried an injury ridden Knicks team to its first 50-win season in more than a decade while helping them secure the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.
But with Team USA managing director Grant Hill keeping one roster slot open ahead of a July training camp and exhibition games in Las Vegas, Brunson might just make the cut. But we’ll just have to wait and see.
What do y’all think of Team USA’s current roster? Who would you add or replace? Let us know in the comments section below.
Kelly Clarkson is headed to Paris this summer. The singer and daytime talker announced on Tuesday night (March 12) that she will be joining NFL hall of famer Peyton Manning and veteran NBC sportscaster Mike Tirico as hosts of the opening ceremonies of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
“You know, Peyton hosted the Country Music Awards, Kelly’s one of the greatest of all time, so the three of us are going to do an album,” Tirico joked to Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon in introducing the three-headed hosting crew for the first time.
“I’m so glad we can say it. We’ve been holding this forever,” Clarkson said about the exciting news that the trio will anchor the live coverage of the kick-off to the summer spectacular that will air on NBC and Peacock at noon ET on July 26 and find more than 10,000 athletes parading through the heart of the French capital. The hosts brought along examples of the gold medals that will be handed out at both the Olympics and Paralympics, each of which has a tiny piece of the Eiffel Tower embedded in them.

“The opening ceremony is going to be so different and unique. Down the Seine, down the river with the athletes on a boat, so it’s not the stadium where they walk in,” said four-time opening ceremony host Tirico, who was also asked which athletes or teams fans should be looking out for. “It will incorporate Paris. And the games are going to be amazing as you know, swimming, gymnastics … Simon Biles, Katie Ledecky, Team USA in track and field could be incredibly strong, the Dream Team, the U.S. soccer team, the women’s basketball team.”
Fallon asked each host what they might win a gold medal for, with two-time NFL champ Manning jumping in with a most unexpected skill: event planning. “It’s kind of my true calling,” Manning said. Tirico weighed in with his skill, which is being an expert packer and travel-planner, while Clarkson said she is “not like that at all,” and hates planning vacations. If, however, you need help building something out of LEGO, she’s your lady. “I am the Simone Biles of LEGOs,” she said. “I am incredible at LEGOs.”
The gold medal trio were back after a break for a game of “Olympictionary,” with Clarkson up first in the game with Olympics-inspired clues. You should watch for yourself, but suffice it to say that Clarkson clearly need to bone up on her badminton knowledge given her very NSFW drawing that made teammate Fallon’s cheeks as red as a rooster’s waddle.

Snoop Dogg is possibly the hardest-working man in Hip-Hop, as he picks up more side gigs than a jazz musician. The D-O-Double-G will join the NBC broadcast of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, adding to his sports broadcasting experience.
As seen at Olympics.com, Snoop Dogg, 52, will be in Paris as part of the coverage team for the 2024 Summer Olympics as a special correspondent. The announcement was shared during the halftime segment of Sunday Night Football’s contest between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings.
Some might recall that Snoop has covered the Olympics after providing hilarious and expert commentary during the 2020 Summer Olympics, which took place in 2021 after a delay due to the pandemic.
“I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness,” Snoop Dogg said in a press release.
Snoop continued,”We’re going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked. Let’s elevate, celebrate, and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition, and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”
Snoop Dogg will join NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico and offer his takes and observations, no doubt exhibiting his usual Long Beach, Calif. coolness.
The Olympic Games Paris 2024 are scheduled for July 26 through August 11, 2024, and will air on NBC and its various cable network holdings.

Snoop Dogg is trading in the LBC for Paris in 2024 … briefly, anyway. NBCUniversal has announced that the iconic rapper is joining its team to report on the Olympic Games this summer, and will be onsite to deliver “regular reports” on the Olympic Primetime Show beginning July 26. The announcement arrived during the New Year’s Eve Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings game.
“I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris. The “Gin and Juice” rapper — who previously reported for NBC during the Tokyo Olympics four years ago — also shared a brief video teaser of him dancing in front of the Eiffel Tower. “New year mood. Paris 2024 Olympics. C u this summer 👊🏿✌🏿Official. 🇫🇷 🏀 🏐 🏃♀️,” he captioned his Instagram clip.
According to NBC, Snoop will be chatting about the Paris Games with NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico, offering up “his unique take on what’s happening in Paris.” He’ll also be checking out the landmarks, visiting with athletes and their friends and family, and of course, attending some of the competitions.
“Snoop is already an Olympic gold medal commentator, generating tens of millions of views for his highlights commentary on Peacock of the dressage competition during the Tokyo Olympics,” Molly Solomon — executive producer and president, NBC Olympics Production — said in a statement. “That performance alone has earned Snoop a job as our Special Correspondent in Paris. We don’t know what the heck is going to happen every day, but we know he will add his unique perspective to our re-imagined Olympic primetime show.”
The Paris Games are set to take place July 26 through Aug. 11. NBC and its streaming service, Peacock, will be providing coverage of the Olympics.
