“Miracle,” the throwback trance tune, edged out “Daylight” last week for a third non-consecutive week atop of the Official U.K. Singles Chart.
When the sales and streams were tallied, just 267 combined units separated the two best-sellers at week’s end.
It’s a similar story this time, with less than 2,000 combined units splitting the pair in the early part of the latest chart cycle, the Official Charts Company reports.
Libianca’s Afrobeats hit “People” (5K) completes the podium on the chart blast, up 4-3.
London rapper Nines is poised to make a splash on the singles survey, thanks to the release of his fourth album, Crop Circle 2. Three tracks from it — the maximum allowed under the OCC’s rules — are set to enter the top 40, led by “Tony Soprano 2” (No. 9), “Calendar” (No. 17) and “Highly Blessed” featuring Skrapz and Wretch-32 (No. 25), all via Warner Records. “Calendar” is poised to be the best-placed debut and the only new release in the top 20.
K-pop’s latest girl group to grab the limelight, Fifty Fifty, is on the rise with “Cupid” (ATTRAKT). After improving 26-18 last week, the tune is closing-in on a top 10 appearance, lifting to No. 13 on the chart blast.
Also on the way up is David Guetta, Anne-Marie and Coi Leray’s “Baby Don’t Hurt Me” (Parlophone), which interpolates Haddaway’s ‘90s club classic. After climbing 23-19 last week, it’s set to go even higher, to No. 15.
All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published late Friday (May 5).
You can call it a tight, a nail-biter, or “miraculous,” but the result is the same — Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding are back at the U.K. chart summit.
Harris and Goulding’s “Miracle” (via Columbia) lifts 2-1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart for a third non-consecutive week, doing so just 267 chart units ahead of David Kushner’s “Daylight” (Miserable Music), according to the Official Charts Company. Kushner’s viral hit lifts 3-2 for a new high, while Lewis Capaldi‘s former leader “Wish You The Best” (Vertigo) is down 1-3, completing the podium.

The close call for “Miracle” is one for the record books, placing it in the all-time list.
You won’t find many narrower margins in the 68 years of Official Chart history, though few races have come down to the wire quite like the 2007 photo-finish which saw Timbaland’s “The Way I Are” pull ahead of Kate Nash’s Foundations by just 16 copies.
Also notable on the latest chart, published April 28, is Switch Disco’s “React” (Relentless), which lifts 12-8 for the dance act’s first appearance in the U.K. top 10. The track features vocals from Ella Henderson and samples from Robert Miles’ classic mid-‘90s house number “Children.”
Just missing out on the top 10 is London rapper Nines with “Tony Soprano 2” (Warner Records), new at No. 11. It’s his first top 20, and third top 40 appearance overall. And it’s the week’s top debut.
Further down the list is The Weeknd and Future‘s latest collaboration, “Double Fantasy” (Republic Records), lifted from the Weeknd’s HBO show The Idol. It’s new at No. 14.
K-pop girl group Fifty Fifty is flapping it wings with “Cupid” (ATTRAKT) up 26-18, while David Guetta, Anne-Marie and Coi Leray’s “Baby Don’t Hurt Me” (Parlophone), which interpolates Haddaway’s ‘90s club classic, improves 23-19.
Meanwhile, HStikkytokky and General G bag a top 40 debut with “Twust” (Hstikkytokky & General G), new at No. 21 and Raye’s Flip A Switch” (Human Re Sources) leaps 48-35, thanks to new remix featuring Coi Leray.
Finally, Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj crack the top 40 with “Alone” (Republic Records), sampling Alice Deejay’s 1999 house track “Better Off Alone.” It’s new at No. 37, for Petras’ second top 40, following last year’s leader “Unholy,” with Sam Smith; and Minaj’s 42nd.
After succumbing to a fast-finishing Lewis Capaldi last week, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding could produce another U.K. chart miracle.
The British duo’s rave-throwback number “Miracle” (via Columbia) returns to No. 1 on the midweek U.K. chart, and remains on track for a third non-consecutive week atop the Official U.K. Singles Chart.
Capaldi broke the streak last Friday when “Wish You The Best” (via Vertigo) overhauled “Miracle,” after trailing at the midweek stage.

The next-best chart performer is David Kushner’s viral hit “Daylight” (Miserable Music), which lifts 3-2 on the Official Chart Update and is set for a new peak position.
Libianca’s TikTok-fueled Afrobeats hit “People” (5K) completes the midweek podium, up 4-3, while Capaldi’s latest recording looks likely to slip 1-4.
Another dance track is shaping for a top 10 finish. Switch Disco and Ella Henderson’s “React” (Relentless) rises 14-9, for what would be a new peak position in its 12th week on the chart. “React” samples from the late DJ and producer Robert Miles’ classic mid-‘90s house track “Children.”
Based on midweek sales and streaming data captured by the Official Charts Company, three singles are poised for top 20 debuts on the next weekly survey. Nines’ “Tony Soprano 2” (Warner Records) is set to start at No. 11 for the week’s top new entry; The Weeknd and Future’s collaborative number from HBO series The Idol, “Double Fantasy” (Republic Records), is close behind at No. 12; and social media star HStikkytokky and General G are poised to bow at No. 16 with Twust (Hstikkytokky & General G).
All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published Friday (April 28).
Metallica surges to the U.K. chart title with 72 Seasons (via Vertigo), for the U.S. metal giants’ fourth leader.
Debuting at the summit of the Official U.K. Albums Chart, 72 Seasons is the band’s first U.K. No. 1 in 15 years, and their ninth top 10.
Previously, James Hetfield and Co. led the weekly survey with 1991’s Metallica (aka The Black Album), 1996’s Load, and 2008’s Death Magnetic.
According to the Official Charts Company, 72 Seasons outsells the rest of the top 5 combined, and it’s the market-leader on vinyl. 72 Seasons led at the midweek stage, and finished its first chart week at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
Fans in the U.K. can feel the noise when Metallica’s M72 World Tour 2023/4 stops by Download Festival at Donington Park, with performances on June 8 and June 10.

Taylor Swift isn’t in the U.K. – yet – with her The Eras Tour. Swifties in this part of the world, however, are ready and waiting for their hero, and they’re absorbing her records in the meantime. Five of Swift’s LPs moves up the latest tally: 2022’s Midnights (up 5-3), 2014’s 1989 (17-13), 2019’s Lover (20-15), 2020’s Folklore (25-20), and 2017’s Reputation (27-29) – all via EMI. The Eras Tour is currently working its way around the United States, with dates slated to wrap Aug. 9 at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles. International shows, including the U.K., have not yet been announced.
Finally, Houston, TX rock act Waterparks slide to a debut U.K. top 10 appearance and a career high with Intellectual Property (Parlophone), their fifth studio album. It’s new at No. 10.

“With The Best” pulled off something of a miracle. The single, lifted from Capaldi’s forthcoming sophomore album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, had trailed previous leader “Miracle” by Calvin Harris, and “Daylight,” by David Kushner, on the midweek survey before storming home in first place.
A special CD single and Capaldi’s Netflix documentary How I’m Feeling Now provide the punch. Almost 16,800 units of the single were shifted, the OCC reports, while two of his former leaders, “Forget Me” (up 8-7) and “Pointless” (up 17-16) are lifted by his emotional doc.
Desire to Be Heavenly Sent is scheduled for release May 19.
Meanwhile, “Miracle” (Columbia) dips 1-2 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart and remains the most-streamed track in the country with 5.6 million plays. U.S. viral star David Kushner makes his top 10 debut on the latest chart, published Friday, April 21, with “Daylight” new at No. 3. Kushner’s only other appearance in the top 40 was 2022’s “Miserable Man,” which got over the line at No. 39.
Post Malone earns his 15th top 20 hit, and just misses out on a ninth top ten, as his new pop-leaning single “Chemical” (Republic Records) blasts to No. 11. It’s his best-positioned single since 2019’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding,” which also reached No. 11.
Finally, rising U.S. rapper Ice Spice enjoys her first U.K. top 40 appearance with “Princess Diana” (10K Projects/Capitol), which has found new life thanks to a remix featuring Nicki Minaj. It’s at No. 22 on the latest tally.
Metallica season is here, and the veteran metal band is coming in hot on the U.K. albums chart.
Based on midweek data published by the Official Charts Company, the Bay Area legends are on track for the chart crown with 72 Seasons (via Vertigo), their 11th studio album.
If it holds it form, 72 Seasons will give James Hetfield and Co. a fourth leader, and first in nearly 15 years.

The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band previously led the chart with 1991’s Metallica (aka The Black Album), Load (1996) and Death Magnetic (2008).
British fans won’t have to wait long to hear Metallica belt out live tracks from 72 Seasons. The European leg of their M72 World Tour 2023/4 will detour into Download Festival at England’s Donington Park for two mid-year shows, June 8 and June 10.
Sliding in at No. 2 on the Official Chart Update is Waterparks’ Intellectual Property (Parlophone), the Houston, TX pop-punk act’s fifth studio album. Waterparks will almost certainly nab a new career high when the Official U.K. Albums Chart is published this Friday (April 21); their only other top 40 appearance was with 2021’s Greatest Hits, which peaked at No. 37.
Meanwhile, U.S. blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa could nab a sixth U.K. top 10 with Tales of Time (Mascot). It’s new at No. 10 on the chart blast.
Further down the list, U.S. alternative rock artist Natalie Merchant is shooting for a top 20 debut with Keep Your Courage (Nonesuch), her first studio album in nearly a decade. It’s new at No. 14 on the chart blast.
Also eyeing top 40 berths are British indie rockers Amber Run with How To Be Human (No. 25 on the midweek chart via Tripel) and British rapper Avelino’s with God Save The Streets (No. 34 via More Music Oddchild).
Over on the midweek U.K. singles chart, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding‘s “Miracle” is on target for a third-straight week at No. 1, while new releases from David Kushner (“Daylight” via Miserable Music) and Lewis Capaldi (“Wish You The Best” via Vertigo) look set to complete the podium.
All will be revealed when the OCC publishes its national charts this Friday.
Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding aren’t ready wrap their “Miracle” run on the U.K. singles chart.
The banging retro number leads the race for what would be a third consecutive week at No. 1, though the competition is heating up.
“Miracle” leads two newcomers on the OCC’s First Look chart, which ranks singles based on sales and streaming activity from the first 48 hours in the chart cycle. As previously reported, Goulding bagged her first U.K. chart double last week, with “Miracle” extending its reign and her solo LP Higher Than Heaven starting atop the national albums survey.
Meanwhile, U.S. TikTok star David Kushner is ready and set for his first U.K. top 10 chart appearance, as “Daylight” starts at No. 2 on the chart blast. It’s a “surprising highest new entry,” notes the Official Charts Company, compilers of the U.K.’s charts. Regardless of where it lands, the track should eclipse the No. 39 best for 2022’s “Miserable Man,” Kushner’s only top 40 appearance to date.

Lewis Capaldi has felt the love following the release of his Netflix documentary How I’m Feeling Now, with three singles and his debut album all climbing the U.K. charts last Friday (April 14). There’s quick early movement for “Wish You The Best,” the lead single from the Scottish artist’s forthcoming third album. The track is set to arrive at No. 3 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart.
Former One Direction star Niall Horan is eyeing a third solo top 10 appearance, as “Heaven” vaults 21-9 on the chart blast. “Heaven” is the lead single from Horan’s forthcoming album The Show, set for release June 9.
Finally, Post Malone’s foray into pop with “Chemical” should net the U.S. singer and rapper a 20th top 40. It’s new at No. 12 on the chart blast.
All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published Friday (April 21).
Ellie Goulding is in chart heaven as she scores her first U.K. double.
The English singer and songwriter starts a second week at No. 1 on the national singles survey with “Miracle” (via Columbia), her club hit with Calvin Harris, and her latest LP Higher Than Heaven (Polydor) floats to the summit on the national albums tally, published April 14.
Higher Than Heaven is Goulding’s fifth studio album, and fourth U.K. leader. That latter feat places her in fine company. She draws level with Adele for the most No. 1 albums by a British female solo artist in the U.K.

Previously, Goulding led the chart with her debut Lights (from 2010), Halcyon (2012) and Brightest Blue (2020), with 2015’s Delirium the only title to miss out, peaking at No. 3.
Coming in hot at No. 2 on the fresh tally is NF’s Hope (NF Real Music). That’s a career best for the Michigan product, a rapper, singer, songwriter and producer with six LPs to his name. NF (real name: Nathan John Feuerstein) previously bagged top 40s with 2019 collection The Search (No. 7) and 2021 mixtape Clouds (No. 12).
As Lewis Capaldi opens his heart in the new Netflix documentary How I’m Feeling Now, fans of the Scottish artist repay the faith by tuning into his music. Three of his singles climb the singles chart, and his debut LP from 2019, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent (EMI), blasts 17-4 on the albums tally. Divinely led the chart following its initial release and it has now logged 204th cycles.
Another artist enjoying a bounce is Taylor Swift, whose albums Midnights (6-5), 1989 (20-17), Lover (29-20) and folklore (34-25), all via EMI, are all on the up. Swifties in the U.K. are eagerly awaiting the domestic leg of her The Eras Tour, which is currently winding its way across America.
Finally, Linkin Park’s sophomore album Meteora (Warner Bros) bolts back into the top 10, thanks to a 20th reissue featuring previously unreleased works with unheard vocals from the late frontman Chester Bennington, who died in 2017. Meteora led the chart first time around, and returns at No. 7.
Ellie Goulding is eyeing a slice of heaven — a U.K. chart double.
The English singer and songwriter leads the midweek chart for second week with “Miracle” (via Polydor), her throwback rave single with Calvin Harris, and her fifth studio set Higher Than Heaven heads-up the midweek albums survey.
If Higher Than Heaven holds its spot, Goulding will boast a fourth leader following debut Lights (from 2010), Halcyon (2012) and Brightest Blue (2020). The only LP to miss out was 2015’s Delirium, which peaked at No. 3.

New at No. 2 on the Official Chart Update is Hope (EMI), the sixth studio album from U.S. rapper, singer-songwriter and producer NF. If Hope hangs in there, it’ll give NF (real name: Nathan John Feuerstein) a career best following 2019’s The Search (No. 7) and 2021’s Clouds (No. 12).
Following a 20th anniversary reissue of Linkin Park’s sophomore album Meteora (Warner Records), the LP is about to fire back into the top 5, at No. 3. The former leader contains previously-unreleased material featuring vocals from the late Chester Bennington, who died in 2017, aged 41.
Another fresh title on track for a top 5 berth is Daughter’s Stereo Mind Game (4AD). It’s new at No. 4 on the midweek chart, for what would be the indie folk trio’s highest-charting album to date and first top 10, eclipsing their previously charting efforts If You Leave from 2013 (No. 16 peak) and 2016’s Not to Disappear (No. 17).
Finally, Scottish singer and songwriter Lewis Capaldi is enjoying a sales bump following the release of his Netflix documentary How I’m Feeling Now (EMI). His chart-topping 2019 debut Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent is set to lift 17-6.
All will be revealed when the OCC publishes its weekly charts on Friday (April 14).

BlackPink already made U.K. chart history when, in 2022, they became the first female K-pop group crowned on the all-genres albums chart with Born Pink, which roared to No. 1. The foursome’s debut The Album had peaked at No. 2 in 2020.
“Flower” is blooming on charts around the world. It’s currently at No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated April 15), becoming the third member of BlackPink to have hit the top 10 on each chart after Rosé and Lisa. “Flower” makes the third-biggest streaming start for an artist’s proper debut focus track since the global charts originated.
Meanwhile, in Australia, “Flower” plants itself at No. 33 on the ARIA Chart. She’s the third member of the group to crack the ARIA Top 50, following recordings by Rosé and Lisa.
