Nikki Glaser is constantly meeting celebrities, but there’s one person she says she’ll never approach: Taylor Swift, who also happens to be one of the comedian’s biggest idols.
While on Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard for an episode of the podcast posted Monday (Feb. 24), Glaser said that she didn’t say hi to the “Karma” singer at the 2025 Grammys — which both women attended earlier this year — and explained why she doesn’t plan on breaking that pattern at future events. “Taylor, she’s just — everyone wants a piece,” Glaser began.
“I will never be the one to be like, ‘Excuse me!’” she continued. “There’s no way that she’s dying for that on a night like this where everyone’s doing it. And of course, she would be so nice. I know exactly how it would go down, but I don’t wanna take someone’s energy away that I require their energy to be put into making great music.”

“It’s almost rude what I do, when I’m in the same room as Taylor Swift, because I won’t even look her way,” Glaser added.
Neither star took home gold at this year’s Grammys Feb. 2. Glaser lost best comedy album to Dave Chappelle, while Swift was passed up for song, record and album of the year.
About a month prior, Glaser hosted the 2025 Golden Globes — which the “Fortnight” musician did not attend this year, despite being present the year prior when her Eras Tour concert film was up for cinematic and box office achievement (but lost to Greta Gerwig’s Barbie). After helming this year’s ceremony, Glaser joked with a fan on X who asked if she was “pissed” about missing Swift by a year, replying, “Oh you know I was!”
The Someday You’ll Die stand-up’s commitment to giving the pop star wide berth comes at the expense of her own fandom. Glaser has gushed about her love for Swift multiple times and revealed in December that she spent nearly $100,000 to see the musician on 22 Eras Tour shows in 2023 and 2024.
“She has no idea who I am, but I’m just the biggest fan,” she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in July of being “addicted” to the Eras trek. “I want to just see it as much as possible, it’s the thing that makes me happiest in the world.”

Nikki Glaser is set to host the 82nd annual Golden Globes, which is set to air on Sunday, Jan. 5, (8-11 p.m. live ET/5-8 p.m. live PT) on CBS.
Glaser is the first woman to serve as solo host of the Globes in recent years. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were co-hosts four times (2013-15, 2021). Actress Sandra Oh co-hosted with comedian Andy Samberg in 2019.
Glaser, 40, is nominated for a Primetime Emmy for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) as executive producer and performer on the HBO special Someday You’ll Die. The award will be presented on night one of the Creative Arts Emmys on Sept. 7.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes,” Glaser said in a statement. “It’s one of my favorite nights of television and now I get a front row seat (actually, I think I have to host from the stage). The Golden Globes is not only a huge night for TV and film, but also for comedy. It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows, but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (God I hope so). It’s an exciting, yet challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable, and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who also might be getting wasted while seated next to their recent exes).”

Glaser continued, “Some of my favorite jokes of all time have come from past Golden Globes opening monologues when Tina, Amy, or Ricky [Gervais] have said exactly what we all didn’t know we desperately needed to hear. I just hope to continue in that time honored tradition (that might also get me canceled). This is truly a dream job.”

The Golden Globes, the first major award show of the season, is often referred to as “Hollywood’s Party of the Year.” It’s the largest awards show to celebrate the best of both film and television. Multi-Emmy Award-winning producing duo Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment will return as executive producing showrunners for the 82nd Golden Globes. Dick Clark Productions will plan, host and produce the annual Golden Globes.
CBS’ broadcast of the 81st annual Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 7, hosted by comedian Jo Koy, averaged 10 million viewers (Nielsen Live+7-Day national ratings), up nearly +50% from last year, its largest audience since 2020. The telecast was also the third-largest livestreamed CBS special event on Paramount+ ever in terms of AMA (average minute audience) and reach.
The deadline for motion picture and television submissions for the 2025 Golden Globes is Monday, Nov. 4. Nominations are set to be announced on Monday, Dec. 9.
In addition to airing live on CBS, the show will stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs).
Penske Media Eldridge — a joint venture between Billboard’s parent company Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge — owns Dick Clark Productions, the producer of the Golden Globe Awards.
Nikki Glaser and her sister didn’t get to see Taylor Swift perform “Cruel Summer” at the pop star’s canceled Eras Tour shows in Vienna, so they had to improvise.
While stranded in an airport en route to Austria — where the pop star’s three previously scheduled shows were canceled after authorities discovered a terrorist plot targeting Ernst Happel Stadium — the comedian and her sister, Lauren Glaser, showed off their own spoof version of “Cruel Summer” while waiting for a delayed plane to Europe in a TikTok posted Wednesday (Aug. 7).
“We’re stuck at an airport gate/ On our way to Vienna on a flight that was late/ Planning outfits and singing songs/ We had no idea how things could go wrong,” they sang to the tune of Swift’s Billboard Hot 100-topping hit, taking turns with each line. “Then we get a text from our mom/ That the shows have been canceled ’cause a threat from a bomb/ And we screamed in a Hudson News / What the hell do I do with these sparkly shoes/ I dyed my hair pink for nothing, we’re f–ked!”
The comedian has previously shared that she’s a super Swiftie, revealing in an October 2023 visit to The Kelly Clarkson Show that she had spent $25,000 on tickets to the Eras Tour that year. “I just want to say that it was a conscious decision because I went to nine Eras Tour shows this year,” she told Clarkson at the time. “Like, when I’m not on tour, I go to her tour. It just fills my life up with so much joy.”
The Glaser sisters did eventually make it to Vienna, where a crowd of Swifties gathered in the streets Thursday (Aug. 8) to trade friendship bracelets and sing the 14-time Grammy winner’s songs together in place of attending the shows. At one point, Nikki joined in on the fan-led event, sharing a video on her Instagram Story of the crowd belting out “All Too Well” in unison.
“Sang All Too Well with thousands of displaced Swifties in Vienna,” she wrote, adding in another post that the other people in her group left to go shopping while she stayed behind to sing “about 7 more songs alone.”
The gathering occurred on the same day Swift had been scheduled to take the stage for the first of three back-to-back Eras shows at Ernst Happel. The performances were canceled one day prior when authorities took two teenage Austrian citizens into custody for allegedly planning to “kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue” with knives or homemade explosives. One 19-year-old suspect had previously pledged allegiance to the Islamic State after being radicalized online, according to officials.
The next day, a third suspect — an 18-year-old man — was detained in connection to the terrorist plot. Swift and her team have not yet issued a statement on the situation.
