Nike Dunk

With sneaker companies dropping so many retros, a criticism is that the novelty of an OG shoe’s rarity and the feelings they evoke are now being lost. One shoe that has managed to duck the re-release treatment for years, and thus had its legend only exponentially grow is the famed Wu-Tang Clan x Nike Dunk.

Well, the black and yellow basketball shoe is finally getting the retro treatment. On Sunday, June 30, the official Wu-Tang Clan Instagram account (and Nike Sportwear’s) teased the return of the ultra grail-level sneaker with the caption “BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ” and a shoe covered in bees. Originally released in 1999, the Wu-Tang x Dunk High LE was gifted strictly to friends and family of the Staten Island Hip-Hop group. The shoe is a high top Nike Dunk in a yellow and black colorway (release sneakers consider it the “Iowa” colorway), with the familiar Wu-Tang Clan logo on the heel.

Word is only about 100 pairs of the sneaker were ever created. Finding a deadstock pair has become increasingly rare, and pricey—for example, an alleged deadstock promo sample is going for a smooth $45,000 on eBay right now.
The retro will cost less coin, but depending on how many Nike decides to actually manufacture, you can bet the aftermarket price will skyrocket since resellers and bots will be itching to get their hands on as many pairs as possible to cash out. Meanwhile, sneaker civilians will pray for the best via raffles and quick fingers, and strong wi-fi, on drop day.
No word on a proper release date, yet (and surely it will be sometime in the Fall), but I need two pairs, at least.

Just when it seemed like the hype behind the Nike “Panda” Dunks was over, the Swoosh is going to breathe new life into the ubiquitous colorway of the popular silhouette by releasing a new version of the sneaker.

According to Sneaker News, the most popular sneaker of 2023 will be getting a suede makeover, and though it seems like the shoe world has grown tired of seeing this particular pair of sneakers get re-released over and over, Nike will continue to do so as the silhouette sells out (most) every damn time. With that being the case, they might as well drop it again with a slightly different spin to it.
Sneaker News reports:

Official images of the polarizing black/white Dunk Low have surfaced, although this time around its not dressed in the standard leather. Instead, Nike is opting for some variance as it uses a suede material on the overlay, adding just a touch of new character to the most ubiquitous Nike shoe on the planet. To its credit, however, the materials appear to be more in line with the premium options, so expect better quality with these.
A release this Summer 2024 season seems probably, and with an aforementioned upgrade in material, expect an MSRP higher than $115, which is now the baseline retail price for entry-level Dunk Lows.
Remember when it was hard as hell to get a pair of “Panda” Dunks out in the wild? Then they were everywhere. So yeah, we’re good on these, but if you want a pair, go right ahead and splurge.

Nike Dunk Lows continue to be the hottest silhouette from the Swoosh out in these streets, but would you brave severe weather just to cop the latest pair? These heads would.

On Tuesday (Jan. 17), Nike released the highly anticipated “Montreal Bagel” Nike Dunk Low, and to ensure they’d get a pair, a few resellers in Montreal, MN lined up outside a sneaker spot during a snowstorm because sneakers are indeed life, and getting a small profit on the secondary market is apparently more important than your well-being.

This is what the sneaker game looked like before stores began raffling their products in place of the first come first served method.
Though the Dunks with the sesame seed print on the base sold out instantly, resale prices aren’t worth risking pneumonia as they’re going for around $20-$40 over the sneaker’s retail price of $120.
We’d understand if these were some Travis Scott or Off-White Dunks which could easily fetch you anywhere from $400-$1000 over retail, but braving a snowstorm for gas money isn’t the move, b. Just sayin.’
Though the Nike Dunk continues to be the most popular silhouette in the game today, resale prices for them have plummeted due to over saturation. Unless it’s a special edition or a collaborative release, à la Concepts “Lobster” Dunks, making a big profit on a regular Dunk drop isn’t what it used to be. But hey, if you wanna make some extra train fare, by all means go catch a cold if you want.
