In the clip, posted to Rihanna’s social accounts, the returning star twirls and snakes to a montage of broadcasters commenting on RiRi and her lengthy absence from the spotlight.
As the voices overlap and form a cacophony, a dramatic pause. Rihanna gets her close-up with her hair in a dramatic twist, she stares down the barrel and gives us the universal sign for “shush”.
The promo closes out with a snippet of “Needed Me,” lifted from her eighth studio album, Anti — a possible nod to her setlist for the newly rebranded Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show,
As previously reported, RiRi will perform Feb. 12 during the long break for Super Bowl LVII, which is being produced by DPS with Roc Nation.
State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona will host the big game.
Just last week, Rhianna used the platform of football’s showpiece event to show off a new limited-edition collection of football-inspired Fenty gear under the “Game Day” banner. The sporty drop features 17 styles, from hoodies to boxers, sweatpants, two-tone varsity jerseys, beanies, bandanas and tube tops, with sizes ranging from XXS to 4X.
There’s a good chance Rhianna will back up the Super Bowl with a performance at the 2023 Academy Awards on March 12, assuming “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is nominated for best original song.
“Lift Me Up,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, was co-written with Ludwig Göransson, Ryan Coogler and Tems, and is one of 15 songs shortlisted in that category last month.
Across her career, Rihanna has bagged 14 No. 1s on the Hot 100, and two leaders on the Billboard 200 chart, including Anti.

It’s been roughly a week and a half since Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collided with Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins and collapsed during the first quarter of the game. The collision, resulting in Hamlin being rushed to the hospital where he remained in critical condition earlier this month. Since the terrifying event occurred, Hamlin has made “substantial improvement” in recovering from his severe injury, and now, he has been released from the hospital.
“We have completed a series of tests and evaluations, and in consultation with the team physicians, we are confident that Damar [Hamlin] can be safely discharged to continue his rehabilitation at home and with the Bills,” a medical care team at the Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute said in a statement published Wednesday.

According to BuzzFeed News, Hamlin, who had suffered cardiac arrest due to his injury, was admitted to the Buffalo hospital on Monday after being released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he began his recovery.
Who knows when or if the 24-year-old will return to the NFL now that he appears to be on the mend—and, really, who cares? It’s just really great to see Hamlin well on the road to recovery after football fans everywhere watched his horrific collapse on national television.
“We’re grateful, first and foremost, that he’s home with his parents and his brother, which is great,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said at a press conference Wednesday. “His health is first and foremost on our mind as far as his situation goes. And then when he feels ready, we’ll welcome him back.”

A player for the Buffalo Bills is in critical condition after experiencing cardiac arrest and collapsing during a game, leading to it being postponed by the NFL.
On Monday night (Jan. 2), Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was taken off the field by ambulance after collapsing following a play on Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins in the first quarter during their Football contest on ESPN. Hamlin was unresponsive, reportedly requiring CPR from medical personnel for up to nine minutes before his heartbeat was restored. Hamlin reportedly was transported on oxygen. The Bills released a statement late Monday night, confirming that Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest.
The 24-year-old is currently listed as being in critical condition. His mother, who was in the stands, was rushed down to escort her son in the ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, the closest Level 1 trauma center to Paycor Stadium.
The unfolding situation shocked many who were watching the highly anticipated game, with players from both teams visibly shaken and crying. Both teams left the field for the locker room at the direction of Bills coach Sean McDermott and Bengals coach Zac Taylor, leading to a temporary suspension of the game.
Both coaches would be seen conferring outside the locker rooms with officials afterward. That led to many on-air at ESPN covering the game and many on social media demanding that the NFL postpone it, with the #CalltheGame hashtag dominating the trending list on Twitter. Current and former NFL players added their voices to the demand, as well as other figures from other sports.
ESPN’s Monday Night Football team of analysts, led by Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the booth, conveyed the somber tone after the incident. In its formal statement on social media, the NFL officially postponed the game, saying it was in “constant communication with the NFL Players Association.” There has been no word from the league about when the game will be resumed.
In the wake of Damar Hamlin’s medical emergency, many have boosted his GoFundMe campaign which was organized to purchase toys to “positively impact children who have been hardest hit by the pandemic.” The crowdfunding campaign has blown past its initial goal of $2,500 to over $3 million as of Tuesday morning (Jan. 3). GoFundMe verified the campaign to boost its visibility after the incident on Monday night.

Skip Bayless is not afraid to give his awful opinion on matters and offend people, but this time he definitely played himself.
Monday night, the sports world came to a standstill when Buffalo Bills safety Darmin Hamlin passed out after suffering a cardiac arrest following a tackle on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, the team said in a statement.
The unprecedented moment saw an ambulance make its way onto Paycor Stadium field. First responders performed CPR on Hamlin as his teammates and opponents tearfully watched and made a shield around him to keep fans from seeing what was happening.
While that traumatic scene was going on, Skip Bayless was on his Twitter account and let off what many believe was the most horrible take and insensitive tweet ever, which is surprisingly still on his timeline.
“No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant,” the sports journalist tweeted.
Bayless’ Undisputed co-host, retired Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, took a different tone on his account.
“Please keep Demar Hamlin and his family in your thoughts and prayers. NFL doesn’t have a manual on how to proceed after an incident like this.”
Immediately Bayless’ Tweet caught the ire of Twitter, with many people calling for him to lose his job. “I hope they fire you bro!!! For You to even THINK of the game is very sad,” NBA player Isaiah Thomas said in a tweet.
“On brand! This dude is trash!” retired NFL wide receiver Torrey Smith said in a tweet.
Is Shannon Sharpe Done With Skip Bayless?
Unfortunately, Bayless is still employed by Fox Sports and did show up to work, but his co-host Shannon Sharper was noticeably absent for today’s taping.
Bayless gave what he felt was an apology for his tweet, despite many rolling their eyes and trying to carry on the show himself.
It finally looks like Skip Bayless has crossed a line that he might not be able to return from. You can see more reactions to his tweet in the gallery below.

The sports world held its collective breath on Monday night (Jan. 2) after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin fell to the field and was carted off in an ambulance during the team’s anticipated Monday Night match-up with the Cincinnati Bengals. A game that was hyped as potentially being the greatest MNF showdown of all time lasted less than 10 minutes before Hamlin collapsed on the field after suffering what the Bills said was cardiac arrest following a blow to the chest.

The game was suspended and then indefinitely postposed as the nation watched the anguished faces of players on both sides huddled in prayer while awaiting word on Hamlin’s condition; the 24-year-old who joined the Bills in 2021 as a sixth round draft pick was given CPR on the field and then taken to a local Cincinnati hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
“Praying for Hamlin. Jesus please let everything be ok,” tweeted Ciara along with heart and prayer hands emoji; the singer is married to Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson, who tweeted, “Wow. I am praying for you @HamlinIsland. Praying for health and safety.” The-Dream also weighed in, writing, “Sending Damar @HamlinIsland Our Thoughts & Prayers RN Let’s go #3!”
Gospel singer Kirk Franklin offered up his own prayer, writing, “Lord, please be with Damar Hamlin, his team, and his family… my heart hurts in this moment for him,” while Snoop Dogg posted an image of a pumped-up Hamlin along with fist bump and prayer hands emoji. In a testament to the seriousness of the incident and the unprecedented nature of such a grave injury resulting in the postponement of a pivotal game in the penultimate week of the season, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Bengals and Bills fans set their rivalry aside as they gathered for prayer vigils outside Hamlin’s hospital on Monday night.
Country singer Mickey Guyton also sent her well wishes, as did MC Hammer and distraught Bills QB Josh Allen, who wrote, “Please pray for our brother.” At press time the NFL had not announced when, or if, the game will be completed and there was no update on Hamlin’s treatment or condition.

It was the Kickoff Concert for the 2022 NFL season, that most American of pastimes. But the songs pulsating from the stage last September were in Spanish, not English, courtesy of J Balvin, the first Latin headliner for the league’s yearly free concert for fans preceding the first regular season game of the year.
Thus kicked off not just the start of this year’s professional football games, but also a new stage of the league’s Latin programming strategy, which seeks to use music to pull in and appeal to a growing Latin fanbase. Building off 2019’s all-Latin Super Bowl Halftime Show with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez — the most-watched Halftime Show ever on YouTube — new initiatives will infuse Latin music into NFL advertising and the entire NFL season. That includes a new Por La Cultura mixtape featuring Yandel, Snow Tha Product, will.i.am, Anthony Ramos, El Alfa and Trueno, among others, with music that will be used in other NFL programming, as well as recruiting superstar band Grupo Firme to perform at the halftime show for its annual Mexico City game on Nov. 21 featuring the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers.
The NFL’s play to grow its Latin audience — much like other brands’ — is based on demographics data. Latin music’s influence is booming, with music in Spanish making up 6.25% of the total U.S. market from January to July (up from 5.32% at this point last year), according to Luminate’s midyear report. Meanwhile, U.S. Latinos or Hispanics comprised 18.9% of the U.S. population per the 2020 Census, making it the second largest racial group as well as the youngest and fastest growing — up 23% since 2010, compared to 4.3% growth for the rest of the population.
“When I was hired by the NFL, the edict was very clear: We needed to ensure this league is relevant to our fans today, five years from today and 10 years from today,” says Marissa Solís, senior vp of global brand and consumer marketing for the NFL, who came to the league last year after nearly two decades in PepsiCo and Frito Lay. “As I think about the future and making sure this league is relevant today and tomorrow, the first thing I think about is Latinos.”
The NFL has 31 million Latin fans, tying Major League Baseball for the most Latino fans of any sport, Solís says. They’re also young: 53% are under 35 years old, and their numbers are growing twice as fast as those of any other demographic. “Which is interesting because everyone says soccer, soccer, soccer, but no,” says Solís. “And by the way, they tend to be the most avid fans: They’re very loyal, they get behind the teams, they purchase merchandise.”
Have doubts? Check out a Los Angeles Chargers game, says cornerback Michael Davis. “It’s always kind of been the norm to see a large Latino presence at our games,” he says. “Plus the Chargers, in particular, are known for having one of the loudest, most die-hard Latino fanbases in the NFL. If you look up in the stands, you’ll find fans in Charger-ized ponchos, sombreros and lucha libre masks having a blast. Makes me smile every time.”
The NFL’s 31 million Latin fans make up between 17% and 18% of the NFL’s fanbase, a good number that’s comparable to the overall U.S. Census demographics. But league executives think there’s room for growth — and that music can be a driver.
Javier Farfán, cultural strategist for the NLF, was brought into the league in 2019, charged with expanding the Latino fanbase. “The first thing we did in 2019 and 2020,” he says, “was do research and we dived deep into the consumer and realized there were a few passion points that engaged the fan base and music was at the top of it.” says Farfán.
Music in and of itself is obviously not new as a strategy for the NFL — witness the Halftime show — and overall, the focus on music has increased across all genres in recent years, says Seth Dudowsky, head of music for the NFL. But, he adds, “Over the last year or two, Latin music undeniably became a force across pop music.”
The first major indicator, of course, was the 2019 Super Bowl all-Latin show, which to date, remains the most-consumed Super Bowl halftime show on YouTube, according to Dudowsky. The Shakira-JLo co-headliner almost doubles the next closest show with over 250 million views to date, fueled by global viewers beyond the U.S. in Central and South America, too.
Beyond the international appeal, music allows the NFL to reach a core Latin fandom.
Balvin’s performance at the Kickoff game in September, for example, marked the first time a Latin act headlined that series. “Bringing him really helped us target and market Hispanic fans in Southern California,” says Dudowsky, “but [we also knew] his style of music resonates with the overall fan base.”
The NFL has other programs that focus on lesser-known names, as well. A series of commercial spots launched this year featured emerging acts DJ Adoni and Chimbala and “have been extremely well received,” says Farfán, who was previously in Pepsi, Verizon and marketing firm J Wolf Advisors.
The notion of featuring both emerging and A-list artists dovetails into the idea of having “the sounds of Latin music throughout the season,” says Farfán, part of a recently launched campaign called Por La Cultura (For The Culture), that cuts across all programs. Games around the country have included DJ Livia in California, Piso 21 in Miami and Carmen de León in Texas. And the Por La Cultura mixtape, out later this month on Neon 16, features 10 tracks that largely will be featured NFL content, such as Yandel, will.i.am and El Alfa’s “Rómpele” that’s currently being used in an NFL spot that features Anthony Ramos and is running on Spanish and mainstream media. A second TV and digital spot for the Por La Cultura campaign launched Sunday featuring Anthony Ramos’ “Latino Activo.”
“The idea around the mixtape specifically is to incorporate music across everything we do, in ads and in stadium,” says Farfán.

Solís says this is just the start for NFL’s love affair with Latin music — with more plans already in the works for 2023. “We doubled down in 2022, and Latin music is going to be a core part of our 2023 plan,” she says. “You should expect a volume two of that album. You should expect a continued partnership with Latino artists in main events.”
“And at this point, Latin music and Latin culture are undeniably part of the fabric of America and have a right to be on that stage as well as any other genre,” adds Dudowsky. “It’s not just marketing to one fanbase, but representing American culture and what’s relevant for all our fans.”

So far, this year’s MNF matchups have featured the Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans vs. Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings vs. Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys vs. NY Giants, and the Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers.
The Bears will play the Patriots on Monday, followed by the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns on Oct. 31. Most of the aforementioned games will broadcast on ESPN, EPSN2 and ESPN Deportes, but a couple of the scheduled games will air on ABC as well. See the full 2022 MNF schedule here.
How to Watch Monday Night Football Without Cable
Gone are the days of simply switching channels to catch all of your favorite NFL games, and it can be hard to keep track of which games are streaming on which platforms. For example, Prime Video is the streaming home for Thursday Night Football, while Sunday Night Football games are available on NBC and Peacock, and some Monday Night Football games will simulcast on ESPN+.
That said, while there are different ways to watch football games from your TV, phone, laptop or computer, the price will vary depending on which platform that you choose.
With ESPN+, you’ll get access to football and more for $9.99 a month (or $13.99 a month to bundle with Disney+ and Hulu). Watch the NFL, college football, soccer, MLB, NBA, NHL, UFC 279, PGA Tour, Top Rank, PLL Playoffs, Premiere League, La Liga, cricket and other sporting events on ESPN+. You can also binge dozens of sports series and TV shows, and original content such as PPV fights, and the entire 30 for 30 series, which includes The Captain, Tom Brady: Man in the Arena, Al Davis vs. The NFL, Vick, Be Like Water, Breakaway, More Than An Athlete with Michael Strahan, and Our Time Baylor Basketball.
