Cory Booker’s Anti-Trump Speech In Senate Goes Live Overnight

On Monday evening (March 31), New Jersey Senator Cory Booker took the podium on the Senate floor to begin a marathon speech decrying the “grave and urgent” threat to American democracy within the policies of President Donald Trump and his administration. Booker, a Democrat, vowed to speak “for as long as I am physically able.”

Booker made sure to be direct with his opening remarks. “In just 71 days, the president has inflicted harm after harm on Americans’ safety, financial stability, the foundations of our democracy, and any sense of common decency,” Booker began. “These are not normal times in our nation. And they should not be treated as such in the United States Senate.”

“I’ve been hearing from people all over my state and indeed all over the nation calling upon folks in Congress to do more, to do things that recognize the urgency, the crisis of the moment,” Booker stated in a video posted to his social media accounts before he took the podium. “And so we all have a responsibility, I believe, to do something different, to cause — as [late Rep.] John Lewis said — ‘good trouble,’ and that includes me.” 

Booker’s speech isn’t a filibuster in a technical sense, as his aim isn’t to block a specific bill, which is where a filibuster would normally be used. But as long as Booker is standing and recognized, he can speak as long as he can stand and do so. The speech would halt all official business if it lasted past noon. The record for the longest filibuster is held by the late South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond, who stood and spoke for a little over 24 hours to oppose the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1957. It would ultimately pass and be signed into law by President Dwight Eisenhower.

Booker has read speeches by the late Senator John McCain and Rep. John Lewis, and also employed a strategy of taking questions from Democratic colleagues in the Senate, which gives him a respite from talking at length. These included questions and speeches from Chris Murphy of Connecticut, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York, Sen. Andy Kim of New Jersey, Sen. Peter Welch of Vermont, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Sen. Chris Coons of New Hampshire.

Watch Olivia Rodrigo ‘Pretend Like I’m An Influencer’ in Guts World Tour Backstage Video

If you’re wondering what Olivia Rodrigo gets up to on tour when she’s not on stage, just know it involves Sex and the City and chocolate cake.

In a TikTok posted Tuesday (April 1), the star takes fans on a day in her life on the road amid her ongoing Guts World Tour, for which she just closed out a run of festivals in South America. “I love watching these [types of] videos,” Rodrigo says at the beginning, showing off how she starts her mornings: eating an omelet, doing some yoga and reading a book by her hotel’s pool.

The clip — which Rodrigo paired Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” — then transitions into the Grammy winner’s pre-show routine, which features skincare, steaming her vocal cords, practicing piano and getting her makeup done. After she’s all ready, she shows off her view from backstage right before going on at Lollapalooza Brazil in São Paulo.

“This is the hardest part of my day, I just always get so nervous,” she confesses in a voice-over, sharing clips of herself and her band getting hyped up in a pre-show circle. “The fans were incredible, I had so much fun. Look at that crowd, so beautiful.”

Once the performance is over, Rodrigo heads back to her hotel for her post-show ritual: taking an ice bath “because my body hurts so bad after a show,” followed by cake and Carrie Bradshaw. “Thanks for letting me pretend like I’m an influencer, it was fun,” she signs off.

The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series alum has been traveling in support of her Billboard 200-topping sophomore album Guts for over a year now, kicking off the trek in February 2024. She had a few months off between the end of her Australian leg and the beginning of her 2025 run, which will feature several more festival gigs — including headlining slots at Glastonbury, Gov Ball and Lollapalooza.

Kendrick Lamar Film With Creators Of ‘South Park’ Pushed Back To 2026

Early last year it was reported that Kendrick Lamar was working with the creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, to cook up a comedy film that no one saw coming. Though the project is still very much a go, we won’t be able to see it until at least next year.

According to Variety, the untitled K. Dot comedy flick, which was slated to drop on July 4 this year, has now been pushed back to March 20, 2026, as Kung Fu Kenny continues to make the rounds on his Grand National Tour in 2025. With Kendrick’s schedule tied up from April 19 until Aug. 19, there’s no way the man can carve out the time to take part in his upcoming film. While we know fans will be disappointed in the news, at least we know the end product won’t be something rushed, as Lamar, Matt Stone, and Trey Parker will take the time to create something that fans will appreciate whenever it finally premieres on the silver screen.

Per Variety:

The change in release plans was announced ahead of CinemaCon, the annual convention of movie theater owners that’s unfolding this week in Las Vegas. Paramount, as well as Disney, Universal, Sony, Warner Bros., Universal and Amazon MGM will unveil presentations that are designed to hype the upcoming year’s slate of films.

As for Lamar’s movie, not a single detail — not the cast, logline or title — has been revealed at this point. What is known, however, is the live-action comedy is written by comedian Vernon Chatman and follows a young Black man who interns as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum.

Dave Free for pgLang will also produce with Lamar, Stone and Parker.

What’s the chance that the film somehow takes shots at Drake in some way, shape, or form? Just sayin.’

Kendrick Lamar’s movie with the creators of South Park has been pushed back into 2026, according to Variety. Paramount’s comedy debut for Lamar with Trey Parker and Matt Stone is now slated to arrive on March 20, 2026. The flick was scheduled to arrive on July 4 of this year.

No reason was given behind the delay, but the untitled movie will now join the I Can Only Imagine sequel starring Dennis Quaid on the release calendar for 2026. Not much is known about the casting of the film — which was first announced in 2022 — outside of comedian Vernon Chatman (Wonder Showzen, The Heart, She Holler) serving as the primary writer.

The comedy will follow an African-American intern who plays a slave actor at a local history museum who discovers that the ancestors of his white girlfriend were slave owners of some of his relatives. PgLang’s Dave Free is also on board as a producer alongside Lamar. The release date reshuffle was made official ahead of this week’s Cinemacon in Las Vegas.

2025 was already shaping up to be a busy yet decorated year for Lamar. He’s coming off of Song of the Year and Record of the Year wins at the Grammy Awards and a headlining slot at the Super Bowl LIXHalftime Show a week later.

Kendrick Lamar and SZA are gearing up to hit the road for the Grand National Tour, which will hit 19 stadiums across North America. The trek is slated to kick off in Minneapolis on April 19 and make stops in Houston, Philly, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Washington, D.C. and more.

Morgan Wallen Digs Into Country-City Tensions on ‘Come Back as a Redneck’ Song Preview

On last weekend’s Saturday Night Live, Morgan Wallen — guesting on the show for the first time since 2020 — performed songs from his upcoming album I’m The Problem, but also sparked controversy for his early exit from the SNL stage.

Though Wallen has yet to directly comment on the SNL controversy, he has promoted some new music since then. On March 31, he posted a video to Instagram teasing a new song, “Come Back as a Redneck,” captioning the video with one of the song’s lyrics, “Maybe then you’ll understand.”

The song’s lyrics take a musical shot at tensions between city dwellers and those raised in the country, with Wallen singing, “I didn’t choose my raisin’ and you didn’t choose yours,” and elsewhere singing, “When you die, I hope you come back as a redneck…I hope you break your back for that barely-gettin’-by paycheck…maybe then you’ll understand.” The video shows Wallen partaking in various outdoor activities, including some target practice with a rifle at an outdoor shooting range and driving deep into the woods on a four-wheeler.

On the March 29 episode of Saturday Night Live, Wallen sang the title track of his upcoming album, I’m the Problem (due May 16), as well as a new song, “Just in Case.”

In keeping with SNL custom, Wallen joined the SNL cast on stage at the end of the show as the credits rolled. He gave a hug to the episode’s host, Oscar winner Mikey Madison, before quickly exiting the stage. Following his SNL exit, he later posted a story on his Instagram: a photo showing a private plane with the caption “Get me to God’s country.” His exit spurred controversy, with many questioning his decision to leave the show’s set, including longtime SNL cast member Kenan Thompson, who called the exit “definitely a spike in the norm.”

While the exit controversy has been at the forefront of fan conversations in recent days, it’s notable that Wallen also used the performance to seemingly tease several song titles from his upcoming album, including “Come Back as a Redneck.” The song was listed as “No. 21: ‘Come Back as a Redneck’ (feat. ______),” suggesting that the full song might involve a collaboration. Other song titles featured during the performance were “I Got Better,” “Skoal, Chevy and Browning,” “Genesis,” “Where’d That Girl Go,” “Miami,” “LA Night,” and two more songs that also seem to be possible collaborations with unnamed artists, “What I Want” and “Number 3 and Number 7.”

Wallen has already released or previewed snippets of several songs from the upcoming album, including his Billboard Hot 100 hits “Love Somebody” and “Just in Case.”

Wallen is a leading contender heading into this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards on May 8, where he is up for seven trophies, among them entertainer of the year, male artist of the year and artist-songwriter of the year.

Skrillex Releases Dubstep-Heavy Fourth Studio Album ‘F*CK U SKRILLEX’: Stream It Now

After months of teasing and anticipation, Skrillex‘s fourth studio album, the astoundingly titled ‘F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3>‘, is out now.

While the producer announced the project would be coming out today (April 1) only yesterday (March 31), its release also isn’t too much of a surprise, given recent posts indicating that it was in the works and then, as he posted on March 20, “done.”

The 34-track dubstep-forward LP features a long list of both new and frequent collaborators including Virtual Riot, Naisha, Whitearmor, jamesjamesjames, Parisi, Boys Noize, 100 Gecs’ Dylan Brady, G Jones, ISOxo, G Jones, Bibi Bourelly, Starrah, Wuki, Space Laces, Swae Lee and more.

The album is a 46-minute continuous mix that plays like a very hyped radio station and ends with a long list of end credit thank yous, the final going out to “you, the fan, the listener, the supporter, the believer. The project comes two days after Skrillex headlined the mainstage at Ultra Music Festival for the first time since 2015, a peformance during which he played some of this new music, brought out special guests including Young Miko, Naisha, Flowdan and Damian Marley and played a bass edit of Avicii’s “Levels.”

This new album will presumably be Skrillex’s final project for his longtime label, Atlantic Records, given that in November he tweeted that ““I’ve never felt more inspired and in lockstep with my intentions as an artist. As I’m nearing completion of my next work and my final project for Atlantic Records I can’t help but feel very existential about it all.” (The majority of Skrillex’s releases have been through Atlantic subsidiaries, including Big Beat Records and Skrillex’s own OWSLA imprint, with the partnership going back to his 2010 debut EP Weekends!!!)

In November on X, Skrillex also referred to what seemed to this then unannounced project, saying, “I’m thrilled to get this out and focus on more release[s] in 25 as an ‘independent’ artist. But ‘independent’ is such a strange term because I still depend on my team as well as all the other creatives and executives to do what I do.”

The album is Skrillex’s first since 2023’s Quest For Fire, which he released on February 17, 2023, and Don’t Get Too Close, a surprise release that came the day after. (This day, February 18, 2023, was also when Skrillex headlined Madison Square Garden in New York alongside Four Tet and Fred again…)

This pair of albums marked Skrillex’s first full-length albums since his 2014 debut, Recess.

Chris Brown’s ‘Residuals’ Reaches No. 1 on Adult R&B Airplay Chart

Chris Brown crowns Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart for a sixth time, as “Residuals” climbs from the runner-up spot to lead the list dated April 5. The single was the most-played song on U.S. panel-contributing adult R&B radio stations in the tracking week of March 21-27, according to Luminate, and rose 12% in week-over-week plays. Thanks to its improvement, “Residuals” nabs the chart’s Greatest Gainer award, given each week to the song with the largest increase in plays.

With “Residuals,” released and promoted through CBE/RCA Records, Brown achieves his sixth Adult R&B Airplay No. 1. Here’s a review of his collection:

Notably, all six of his leaders have come in the 2020s decade, tying the R&B superstar with H.E.R. and Usher for the most champs in that time. Prior to capturing the summit with “No Guidance,” Brown appeared on Adult R&B Airplay with 15 different titles, dating to his first visit – at age 16 – in 2006 with “Yo (Excuse Me Miss),” which reached No. 25. Before his half-dozen leaders, Brown earned a No. 4 best with “Undecided” in 2019.

Elsewhere, “Residuals” repeats at No. 2 on the audience-based R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, after having previously topped the tally for three weeks. Despite the static rank, the single added 3% in audience to 19.7 million in listenership for the tracking week. On the plays-based Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, “Residuals” rises 4-3, having previously ruled for four frames. The track’s position ascent helps offset a 3% decline in plays for the week.

While “Residuals” largely holds steady after conquering several formats in the R&B/hip-hop sector, it is a promising newcomer in the pop realm. The track logs a fifth week on the Pop Airplay chart, and despite a 35-36 reverse, it remains essentially even in plays for the tracking week compared with the week prior.

“Residuals” is from the April 2024 deluxe edition of Brown’s most recent studio album, 11:11. The song was nominated for this year’s Grammy Award for best r&b performance, while 11:11 won for best R&B album, the singer’s second career trophy.

Blue Note is also bringing back The Black Radio Experience with Robert Glasper in Napa, opening a new Blue Note Los Angeles in Hollywood and curating and producing the newly renamed Blue Note Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl in June.

Blue Note recently wrapped up The Roots’ iconic celebration of their major label debut album, Do You Want More?!!!??!, at Blue Note, the annual month-long Robtober residency curated by Robert Glasper and critically acclaimed residencies with artists including Esperanza Spalding, Chris Botti and others.

Tanner stopped to talk to Billboard’s Rania Aniftos on the carpet about tour life, working on new music, and how she would give this year’s Woman of The Year, Doechii a crown for being a queen in her own right. She also talked about presenting Megan Moroney with this year’s Rule Breaker Award presented by Crown Royal. Tanner spoke about the importance of going against the grain, saying “I think it’s important for artists to do what they want in general. Being kept to a box is not good for your creativity.”

After stunning on the carpet, Tanner headed inside to the exclusive VIP cocktail reception where she stopped by the Crown Royal bar to give a toast. “We have so many amazing and talented women in the building and I’m so proud to be one of them,” Tanner began while holding her signature cocktail, the Crown Blackberry Buckle Bunny. She thanked Billboard and Crown Royal for always supporting her and her music, finishing with “Tonight we raise a glass to celebrate all the women in music. Cheers!”

Tanner’s Crown Blackberry Buckle Bunny is a refreshing mix of Crown Royal Blackberry and lemonade. They also served the classic Royal Whisky Sour which uses Crown Royal Deluxe. Many chose a Royal 18, which is Crown Royal 18Y on the rocks. The most versatile cocktail of the evening was In The Name of Whisky, featuring either Crown Royal Deluxe, Blackberry, Peach, or Apple with fresh lemon juice, cane sugar and club soda.

As the program began inside the YouTube Theater, Tanner took the stage to present the first award of the evening. She helped present Megan Moroney with the Rule Breaker Award presented by Crown Royal. After letting the audience know that Megan originally thought she was going to be an accountant like her mother, Tanner listed off some of the most impressive accomplishments she has made in the first few years of her career including the charts success of her latest album Am I Okay? Tanner ended her speech with “Megan Moroney, I think it’s safe to say you are more than okay, girl.”

It was Megan’s turn on stage to start the evenings performances off with a high energy rendition of “Am I Okay?” She entertained the audience and fellow honorees singing and shaking in silver fringe. She then accepted her award from Tanner Adell saying, “When I found out I was getting the Rule Breaker Award I thought it was kind of funny because, if you know me in real life, you know I’m an avid rule follower… But I’m just so grateful for it. I’m grateful to be here, in a room with such talented, confident, amazing women in music.”

Gracie Abrams Drops Live O2 Arena Version of Haunting Unreleased Song ‘Death Wish’: Listen

Just a couple weeks after closing out the European leg of her Secret of Us Tour, Gracie Abrams is thanking fans by dropping the live version of unreleased song “Death Wish” recorded at the O2 Arena earlier this month.

Released Tuesday (April 1), the recording finds the 25-year-old singer-songwriter accompanying herself on piano as she sings eviscerating lyrics about a two-faced ex. “How will it end? How long will you give me?/ ‘Til you twist the knife with a smile while you kill me,” Abrams croons to the hushed room. “And you ask me to dance if there’s someone around/ You don’t look the same when I look at you now.”

The Los Angeles native also shared a lyric video for the track, featuring footage of Abrams playing the ballad for the first time at her March 6 show in London.

The track marks the Grammy-nominated artist’s first release since her feature on Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez’s “Call Me When You Break Up,” which arrived in February. Since dropping her sophomore album The Secret of Us last June, Abrams has released a couple other live recordings on streaming services, including “I Love You, I’m Sorry – Live From Vevo” in October and “That’s So True (Live From Radio City Music Hall)” in November.

Abrams’ O2 show was one in a month-long run of performances in Europe as part of her first-ever arena trek. In just a few days, she’ll pick back up with shows in Asia followed by legs in Australia and North America.

During her short break from touring, Abrams was honored as Songwriter of the Year at last weekend’s 2025 Billboard Women in Music Awards. During her speech, the star thanked her “incomparable” “Us.” collaborator Taylor Swift “for the gift of her pen, which very much raised me,” as well as best friend Audrey Hobert, with whom she wrote much of The Secret of Us.
