Maroon 5’s ‘One More Night’ Joins YouTube’s Billion Views Club

Maroon 5 has “one more” accomplishment to add to its list of accolades. On Wednesday (Nov. 2), YouTube announced that the pop rock band’s video for “One More Night” has entered the Billion Views Club.

The video sees lead singer Adam Levine split between two scenes — one of him training at a boxing facility that later leads to him facing against an opponent for a match, and another of him juggling family life with a partner and their young baby girl. After emerging triumphant, Levine comes home to find his home empty save for a few family photos and a trophy — his partner and daughter nowhere to be found.

According to YouTube, “One More Night” is the band’s third video to reach the billion views mark. “Sugar” and “Girls Like You” are the other two visuals.

Maroon 5, in a collaborative Instagram post with Universal Music Enterprises, shared its excitement at the new milestone. “One More Night” hit 1 BILLION views on YouTube in ten years!! Third @maroon5 track to reach this milestone, we can’t believe it,” both accounts captioned a behind-the-scenes video from “One More Night” of Levine in hair and makeup.

In addition to being Maroon 5’s third video to hit one billion views, “One More Night” was also the band’s third No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 after singles “Makes Me Wonder” (2007) and “Moves Like Jagger” featuring Christina Aguilera (2011). “One More Night” spent a total of 42 weeks on the Hot 100, with nine of those weeks in the No. 1 spot.

UMPG Now Represents Irving Berlin’s Catalog and Brand Marketing Worldwide

Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) has signed an exclusive publishing deal with one of the most essential American songwriters of all time, Irving Berlin, to represent his catalog in all territories worldwide. This expands upon the major’s existing partnership with the Berlin estate, which began in 2012, which named UMPG as Berlin’s publishing administrator outside of the U.S.

Previously, Concord and Imagem (which the former purchased in 2017) handled North American publishing administration, but under the new deal, UMPG will now cover the continent instead.

Additionally, UMPG will take over duties for brand and social marketing efforts for the Berlin estate. This includes the launch of social media channels, including a new TikTok page, which promote the legacy of the songwriter and his legendary songbook — which includes “Anything You Can Do,” “Blue Skies,” “Cheek To Cheek,” “How Deep Is The Ocean,” “It’s A Lovely Day Today,” “I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm,” “Let’s Face The Music And Dance,” “Puttin’ On The Ritz,” “Steppin’ Out With My Baby,” “The Song Is Ended (But The Melody Lingers On),” “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” Guinness World Records’ longtime best-selling single “White Christmas,” and many more — to the next generation of fans.

The company also launched a custom Film & TV industry site which will showcase Berlin’s catalog for sync and theatrical licensing consideration. It uses themed playlists, intuitive tagging and more to help potential licensors find the perfect match within his over 1,500 song catalog.

During his lifetime, publishing administration for Berlin, who was highly protective of his copyrights, was handled by an insular group of six individuals, working in an office on West 46th Street in Manhattan, as the New York Times reported, but in 1990, following his death at the age of 101, Berlin’s publishing administration went to the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization (RHO) for further exploitation. Nearly two decades later, RHO sold to Imagem in 2009. By 2012, rights to worldwide administration ex-U.S. was given to UMPG while the North American administration was re-signed with Imagem and expanded to include brand management and grand rights exploitation globally. Then, in 2017, there was a major sale between Imagem and Concord Music Group, moving over these duties to the Concord umbrella.

Evan Lamberg, president of North America, UMPG, says of the deal, “I’ve been in the music publishing business my entire working life. It doesn’t get any better than UMPG having the honor of representing the timeless cultural songs of Irving Berlin, as well as working with the wonderful Irving Berlin family and Estate.”

“The family of Irving Berlin enthusiastically welcomes the expansion of their 10 year relationship with Universal Music Publishing Group and looks forward to continued collaboration as the exclusive global music publisher for Irving Berlin’s extensive catalog,” adds Mary G. Campbell of JPMorgan, on behalf of the Berlin’s estate.

Taylor Swift Recreates Iconic Looks From Past Eras in Capital One Commercial: Watch

The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now — why? ‘Cause she’s busy starring in a Capitol One commercial. In a super nostalgic advertisement for the bank holding company’s Venture X credit card released late Monday (Nov. 1), Taylor Swift starred as a dozen versions of her past selves by recreating her most iconic looks from past album cycles, spanning 2006 to 2022.

In one scene, a Taylor sporting one of the sparkly outfits she wore back in 2015 — during the 1989 World Tour — tests out some headphones. “They’re noise cancelling!” she shouts, dancing to a beat only she can hear.

“You’re being too loud,” responds a second Taylor, referencing a lyric from Swift’s 2019 Lover track “You Need to Calm Down.”

The second Taylor — dressed in a purple dress and ponytail, one of Swift’s Speak Now Tour looks from 2011 — appears again in a later scene, in which she watches a Capitol One customer using his phone to book seat 13A on Flight 1989.

“Good choice!” says Speak Now Taylor, pointing at a number 13 painted on her hand. “My lucky number.”

All the Taylors are then shown crammed together in an elevator. “Going up?” asks one Taylor, dressed in the glitzy circus ringleader outfit she sported in 2013 on the Red Tour.

A Taylor wearing a unitard look from the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video, a Taylor wearing one of her famous Folklore cardigans, and a curly-haired Taylor from her debut self-titled album cycle proceed to join all the other Taylors on the elevator in an epic group selfie.

The commercial comes on the heels of Swift’s announcement that she’s going on tour next year, following a five-year break from live performances. Presented by Capitol One, the Eras Tour will see the 11-time Grammy winner stopping by stadiums in cities across the U.S. (international dates have not yet been announced) with guests artists including Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers, Beabadoobee, HAIM and more.

“Recovery has been a huge part of my life the last 14 years. I first went to treatment in 2008. I’ve always had the allergy, the disease of addiction was present from my first drink of alcohol,” Macklemore explained. “Going into ‘Faithful,’ the pandemic happens. I was removed from my recovery community, everything’s on Zoom — I’m used to going to meetings and being a part of a community — all a sudden that’s stripped away from us and I relapsed. I relapsed in 2020.”

He continued, “I think I wrote ‘Faithful’ shortly after that and it came from a dark spot, and I think that there is such a void of music that talks about real issues, whether it be mental health, whether it be recovery or fighting the disease of addiction, I’m trying to go there. I don’t want to avoid it.”

The “Thrift Shop” rapper also revealed that his wife was an integral part in choosing the single, so much so that she offered to be a part of the video for “Faithful.”

“My wife, she heard the whole album and was like, ‘Yo, I want to do it. I want to direct the music video. ‘Faithful’ she felt passionate about and I love the record. I think the record is great. She saw a vision so I said, ‘I gotta go with wifey on this one.’”

In the clip, Adam Devine reprises his role as Bumper Allen, the former leader of the Treblemakers. He gets a call from Pieter from Pitch Perfect 2‘s Das Sound Machine (played by Flula Borg), inviting him to come to Germany to launch his music career after a video of his went viral on the Internet. Devine then reunites with his Modern Family co-star Sarah Hyland, who plays his assistant. Lera Abova and Jameela Jamil also star in the series.

“To think this journey began over 15 years ago – from the discovery of Mickey Rapkin’s book, to three incredible films, and now a television series,” said Elizabeth Banks, who returns as an executive producer on the project after acting in all three Pitch Perfect films and directing Pitch Perfect 2. “We could never have imagined the life that this story would take on. It was really important to us that Bumper in Berlin be recognizable to the fans, for its irreverent comedy and phenomenal music, but also entirely distinct from what you’ve seen before.

“We wanted to honor The Barden Bellas and the Pitch Perfect world, while expanding into a fresh and brilliantly weird character journey,” she continued. “This story is about second chances, friendship, and the idea that your dreams can come true in unexpected ways – anywhere in the world, at any point in your life.”

Shakira & Ozuna’s ‘Monotonía’ Hits Top 10 on Hot Latin Songs Chart

Shakira and Ozuna’s “Monotonía” rallies 25-3 on BillboardHot Latin Songs chart (dated Nov. 5) after its first full tracking week. The track was released Oct. 19 via Sony Music Latin, and debuted in the top 30 a week ago with five days of airplay (during the Oct. 17-23 tracking week).

“Monotonía” pushes to No. 3 with gains in all metrics. It earned 9.4 million U.S. streams, up 205%, in the week ending Oct. 27, according to Luminate. That yields a No. 3 debut on Latin Streaming Songs. Sales, too, assist its position increase, with 2,000 downloads sold — up 38% — during the same period. (The song holds strong at No. 1 on Latin Digital Song Sales.)

Meanwhile, on the radio front, “Monotonía” generated 6 million in audience impressions, up 106%, earned in the week ending Oct. 30, which prompts a 36-13 surge on the all-genre Latin Airplay. On Tropical Airplay, the song lifts 8-4.

Further, “Monotonía” breaks up a Bad Bunny monopoly of the top three on Hot Latin Songs — the entire top three has been occupied by nothing but Benito’s songs since the May 21-dated chart, where he has ruled with songs from his Un Verano Sin Ti album.

“Monotonía’s” move earns Shakira her 32nd top 10. She continues to hold the record for the most top 10s among women since the tally launched in 1986. Ozuna adds a 28th top 10 to his career count.

Elsewhere, “Monotonía” also enters the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 65. It becomes Shakira’s highest debut since “Empire’s” No. 58 arrival in 2014.

On Global territory, Shakira secures her third top 20 title on the Billboard Global 200 ranking as “Monotonía” debuts at No. 18. Ozuna, meanwhile, captures his third top 20 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. survey, as the song soars 174-4 in its second week.

J. Cole announced the return of his Dreamville Music Festival on Wednesday (Nov. 2), revealing that the event will return in spring 2023. In fact, after a two-year pandemic layoff and a reboot this spring, Dreamville is expanding to two days next year, with all the action slated to unfold in Raleigh, North Carolina’s Dorothea Dix Park on April 1-2.

The first edition of Dreamville took place at Dix Park on April 6, 2019; it was postponed from Sept. of 2018 due to the impact of that year’s Hurricane Florence. The first year lineup for the music, food, art and culture fest featured Cole, Big Sean, Nelly, SZA, 21 Savage, 6LACK, Teyana Taylor, Davido, Saba and more.

The planned second go-round of Dreamville was scheduled for April 2020, but postponed, then cancelled, due to the then-rampant COVID-19 pandemic. It finally returned in April of this year with sets from Lil Baby, Kehlani, Wizkid, Wale, Rico Nasty, Moneybagg Yo and the entire Dreamville roster, including Ari Lennox, EarthGang and J.I.D., among others. The fest drew more than 80,000 fans in 2022 and, according to organizers, created more than $6.7 million in economic impact on the local Raleigh and Wake County communities.

“Dreamville Festival wants to keep growing and building off the success of the expanded two-day event last year. Our team is excited to reunite with our Dreamville family from around the world next spring,” said Dreamville Festival President Adam Roy in a statement. “Day ones, JID fans, Ari fans, music fans, everyone is welcome. Consider this your personal invite. Come through, you won’t want to miss Dreamville 2023.”

Cole will once again curate next year’s lineup — which has not yet been released — with organizers promising “incredible music performances featuring Cole’s own favorite musical artists and collaborators who are traveling worldwide to perform in his home state of North Carolina.” A special ticket pre-sale will soon be available for Dreamville fans tho sign-up for the official festival email or text newsletter here.

Taylor Swift Confirms This ‘Reputation’ Track Will Be on the Eras Tour Setlist

Heads up, Swifties. It looks like Taylor Swift is taking requests. Shortly after the 32-year-old pop star announced her 2023 The Eras Tour, a fan took to TikTok to ask that “Delicate,” a single off Reputation, be included on the setlist — and Swift obliged.

In the Tuesday (Nov. 1) TikTok, a Swiftie named Alex filmed herself singing along to an audio clip from 2018 of the “Anti-Hero” singer performing “Delicate” on her Reputation Tour. People who were in the crowd during that night’s performance can be heard chanting “1, 2, 3, let’s go b—h!” in unison to the beat of the song, filling the empty beats in between the intro and first verse.

It’s a tradition that started among Swift’s fanbase after a video of one fan doing the chant at one of the Reputation Tour’s early shows went viral. Even Camila Cabello, who was one of the opening acts on the tour, posted a video of herself recreating the original.

“Petition to bring this back for eras tour,” Alex wrote atop her TikTok.

In just one day, the TikTok reached about a million viewers — one of whom was none other than the woman in charge herself. “Done,” Swift commented on the video, confirming that fans will once again have a chance to cheer along to her 2017 track when The Eras Tour’s U.S. leg kicks off in March.

The Eras Tour was announced by the 11-time Grammy winner during her appearance on Good Morning America Monday morning, the same day that Alex posted her TikTok. The 27-date expedition will find Swift passing through stadiums across the country with Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers, HAIM, Beabadoobee and more serving as her opening acts.

First released in 2017 on Swift’s sixth studio album Reputation, “Delicate” was given the single treatment the following year. The singer-songwriter made a contemporary dance-filled music video for the track with director Joseph Kahn, and it went on to peak at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
