‘The Bodyguard’ Musical Performance in U.K. Halted After Unruly Fan Singalong

A British performance of The Bodyguard musical ended in unrequited love for some audience members who couldn’t refrain from singing along to the anthemic finale.

The show at the Palace Theatre in Manchester screeched to a halt Friday (April 7) when two unruly patrons were ejected for joining the lead in singing “I Will Always Love You,” the soaring, emotional ballad made famous by Whitney Houston.

It was not supposed to be a singalong. Ushers carried signs saying, “Please refrain from singing” and announcements were made in advance that patrons would have a chance to join along at the end but not to sing during the show, said Tash Kenyon, an audience member.

During the closing number, somebody shouted, “Does this mean we can start singing now?” Kenyon said. A tone-deaf voice projected from the balcony and competed with the vocals of Melody Thornton, a former member of The Pussycat Dolls.

Laughter then turned to anger and confusion, Karl Bradley told the Manchester Evening News.

“The stage then just went black again and that’s when it really started to kick off on the higher tier, you could really hear screams and audible gasps,” Bradley said. “Everyone starting standing up and looking over. There was chants of ‘out, out, out’ to get them gone.”

When the lights came up, the unwanted backup singers were being hauled out of their seats by theater security and audience members began cheering.

But the music and show were over.

A spokesperson for the theater said the show was canceled because disruptive fans who refused to stay seated had spoiled the performance.

Thornton posted a video on Instagram thanking respectful fans and apologizing for those who weren’t.

Greater Manchester Police said it spoke with the two people who were removed by security and would review evidence before taking any action.

JoJo Siwa Reacts to Candace Owens’ Accusation That She’s Lying About Being Lesbian

JoJo Siwa is hitting back at Candace Owens’ claim that she’s lying about being lesbian.

The 33-year-old conservative commentator shared a nearly six-minute video through Twitter on Tuesday (April 4), suggesting that Siwa, 19, is pretending to be gay because she is seeking attention.

“I don’t believe JoJo Siwa is a lesbian, by the way. I want to state that very clearly. I do believe that she’s desperate for attention,” Owens says in the clip, taken from her Daily Wire podcast.

Owens then comments on the pop singer and dancer’s TikTok video from October 2022 about first realizing she was gay after hearing Demi Lovato‘s hit song “Cool for the Summer,” watching Jenna Dewan’s Lip Sync Battle performance, and not wanting to be intimate with a man during a date.

“One plus one plus one must equal ‘I’m a lesbo,’” Owens says. “It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It’s very clear to me she did that video for attention. She got attention because it’s a great way to find a community of victims.”

Siwa caught wind of Owens’ video and reacted to it a couple of days later. “I haven’t watched the video yet…. But if it has anything to do with your caption, respectfully back the f— off,” the former Nickelodon star tweeted on Thursday (April 6).

Siwa officially came out on social media in 2021. “I never wanted [my coming out] to be a big deal,” she said in an interview with People a few months later. “I’ve never gotten this much support from the world. I think this is the first time that I’ve felt so personally happy.”

HYBE Executive Creator Son Sung Deuk Opens Up About New Global Girl Group & Working With BTS | Billboard News

HYBE is gearing up to launch a brand new girl group, and Billboard’s Tetris Kelly sat down with the South Korean entertainment company’s Executive Creator Son Sung Deuk about what fans can expect.
While the process of building the girl group is still underway, Son Sung Deuk says that he and his team “really are working and studying hard to create the sound and the content that people around the globe can love. We’ll see what it’ll look like, but we’re working hard to create content that fans around the world will really enjoy.”

He adds that their plans for the upcoming launch is still “very open,” but HYBE is hoping to create content that resonates with today’s music lovers. “No matter what that looks like, I guarantee that our content and artists will exceed all your expectations,” the executive reveals.

One of the biggest groups Son Sung Deuk works with is BTS, who he’s teamed up with since before their debut. “Working with them from before debut to recently was very important to me and an amazing challenge for my career, and the results and the whole experience were incredible,” he shares. “I was always so happy and the work was always fun, and it was an amazing opportunity to be loved by so many people and grow as a person. It was often fun and challenging at the same time, but at the end of the day it was a joy because there was so much that people could love.”

He also gave insight into his favorite of BTS’ many jaw-dropping performances, though he admits that it’s hard to choose as he’s “put everything I have into every one of them.” The executive pointed out the group’s 2021 United Nations performance and 2022 Grammys performance as “really impactful and most memorable for me.”

Lloyd Banks ft. Method Man “101 Razors,” Millyz “Dark Shades” & More | Daily Visuals 4.7.23

HipHopWired Featured Video

After taking a very long sabbatical from the rap game, the artist formerly known as the “Boy Wonder,” Lloyd Banks returned to the rap game with the critically acclaimed The Course of the Inevitable in 2021 and TCOTI 2 in 2022. Now with the third installment on the horizon, the Queens MC is giving his day-one’s a taste of what to expect on The Course of the Inevitable 3: Pieces Of My Pain.

For the first single to the upcoming album, Lloyd Banks links up with fellow Hip-Hop OG, Method Man in the visuals to “101 Razors,” Blue Hefner and Big John Stud hold court in an empty mansion straight out of American Horror Story where they kick their verses and remind us what MCing used to sound like back in the day. Respect the OG’s.

Speaking of MCing, Millyz keeps on showing and proving he’s not amateur on the M-I-C, and in his clip to “Dark Shades” the “Bawsten” representative posts up in a bright yellow room with a thick young woman to drop his bars while flexing the iced out shamrock that was gifted to him by the Verzuz Gawd, Jadakiss. Jadakiss is an amazing homie to have. Just sayin.’

HYBE Leads Music Stocks This Week, Posting 15% Gain After Jimin Chart Success

HYBE shares rocketed up 14.9% this week after the K-pop company reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Like Crazy” by Jimin, a member of the group BTS. Investors could also rejoice that Jimin’s album, FACE, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. HYBE shares spiked 7.5% on Thursday (April 5) following Jimin’s U.S. chart success and rose another 5.9% on Friday, closing at 217,000 won ($164.85).

“Like Crazy” is an encouraging success for HYBE’s Big Hit Music imprint and the first track by a BTS member’s solo project to top the Hot 100. In fact, Jimin is the first South Korean solo artist with a No. 1 hit on the chart in the U.S. That’s good news for a company that will be without its biggest act for the foreseeable future and which needs to create additional chart successes outside of its home market. News of BTS’s hiatus sent HYBE’s share price down TK% from June TK to TK. Since then, HYBE has reached No. 51 with JIN’s “The Astronaut” and No. 30 with Jimin’s “Set Me Free, Pt. 2.” It has had more success outside of BTS members’ solo projects. Tomorrow X Together’s The Name Chapter: Temptation (EP) reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 while Seventeen reached No. 4 on the chart with 4th Album Repackage: Sector 17.

HYBE’s share price is up 25.1% year to date.

HYBE was the only stock in the Billboard Global Music Index to see a double-digit increase this week and one of just eight companies to finish in positive territory. Overall, the 20-company index declined 3.1% to 1,224.34 this week. (Year to date, the Billboard Global Music Index is up 4.8%.) On Wall Street, the S&P 500 declined 0.1% to 4,105.02 while the Nasdaq composite dropped 1.1% to 12,087.96.

The index’s most valuable company, Universal Music Group, declined 8.2% to 21.40 euros ($23.53) and is down 5% year to date. Spotify, the second-largest contributor to the index, declined just 0.9% to $132.48 and is up 61% year to date.

HHW Gaming: EA Unveils New ‘EA Sports FC’ Logo After 30-Year Partnership With FIFA Comes To An End

HipHopWired Featured Video

EA Sports FC

Source: EA / EA Sports FC

All good things eventually come to an end. When it comes time for EA to roll out its annual soccer video game, it will have a new name.

After 30 years, EA Sports, the video game studio, has moved on from FIFA and unveiled its soccer video game franchise’s new name, EA Sports FC.

The new black and white logo is simple with an EA Sports bubble next to FC, which is in the shape of a triangle, a symbol synonymous with the sport of soccer as it is the makeup of the formations on the soccer pitch and the pixels that make the game come to life.

The new logo is a product of EA and FIFA failing to reach a new licensing agreement to extend their 30-year partnership. As a result, EA will no longer use the FIFA branding in its video games.

The iconic video game studio has been using the FIFA branding since the release of the inaugural FIFA video game for the Sega Mega Drive and Genesis console in 1993.

When Will The New Logo Officially Debut?

In a press release, EA says the rebrand is “a new Football Club for the future of football we want to build together.”

“From passing techniques to set plays, the [triangle] shape has also been woven into the DNA of EA Sports football experiences for decades,” EA wrote. “From the isometric angles of our very first 8-bit experiences and the triangular polygons that make up every pixel of our most modern games, as well as the iconic player indicator symbol that appears above every athlete in every match.”

The new branding will debut this weekend during matches from the biggest soccer leagues, including the Premier League, La Liga, German Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the Women’s Super League, and the National Women’s Soccer League.

We hope this rebrand does not affect the quality of the games. EA’s soccer video games are a model of consistency.
