The Philadelphia Eagles Are Shipping Kelce & Swift — Just Not the Two That You’re Thinking

As the internet continues to collectively squeal over Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s rumored courtship, one NFL team is making sure to celebrate their favorite Kelce-Swift couple.

On Monday night (Sept. 25), the Philadelphia Eagles posted a video clip to their X (formerly known as Twitter) account, celebrating their “favorite Kelce x Swift duo” — that is, center Jason Kelce and running back D’Andre Swift, both of whom play for the Philly team. “It hits different,” the post’s caption read.

The team had plenty of reason to celebrate the pair. During Monday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Swift rushed for a whopping 130 yards, helping bring the undefeated Eagles to their third straight win of the season with a 25-11 victory.

The post from the Eagles came just after Taylor Swift dominated coverage of the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday (Sept. 24), when she sat in Travis Kelce’s suite during the game with the tight end’s mother, Donna. When Kelce scored a touchdown in the third quarter, cameras showed Swift jumping up and down while appearing to cheer “let’s f–king go!”

Jason Kelce, meanwhile, fed into the speculation surrounding rumored romance between his younger brother and the pop star last week. During an interview with Audacy’s SportsRadio 94 WIP on Wednesday (Sept. 20), Jason joked that the speculation about Travis and Taylor were “one hundred percent true,” and added that “I hope this thing goes the mile,” before insisting that he was simply poking fun.

Yandel Signs With Warner Music Latina

Yandel has signed with Warner Music Latina, marking his first deal with a major label after releasing his latest albums (Quien Contra Mi 2 and Resistencia) via his own company, Y Entertainment.

The signing took place at the Empire State Building in New York City, where Yandel kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month festivities by leading the lighting ceremony and treating a group of attendees to an intimate concert at the Empire State Building Observatory.

“I am truly excited to join the Warner Music Latina family and look forward to bringing new music to fans worldwide, fostering this new adventure with the label, and continuing to write my musical story together,” said Yandel, who rose to fame more than 20 years ago as one half of the iconic reggaetón duo, Wisin & Yandel.

Yandel’s first release on the label was his Myke Towers collaboration “Borracho y Loco,” which came out on Thursday (Sept. 21).

After scoring countless hits as part of Wisin & Yandel, including “Abusadora” and “Rakata,” Yandel launched a full-fledged solo career in 2013. In addition to 2003’s Quien Contra Mí — a solo album released prior to Wisin & Yandel’s 2013 hiatus — he’s released a total of eight solo albums, including his 2013’s De Líder a Leyenda, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart. In February, he scored his first solo Billboard Hot 100 entry with “Yandel 150” in collaboration with Feid.

“Yandel’s iconic career has resonated with audiences worldwide, and his influence in the music industry is undeniable,” said Warner Music Latina Alejandro Duque. “This collaboration signifies a new chapter of innovation and creativity. We are excited to work hand in hand with Yandel to bring his music to fans across the globe.”

“Yandel is an artist who embodies both iconic status and forward-thinking vision,” added Warner Music Latina MD Roberto Andrade. “We take immense pride in joining him on this new chapter of his career, contributing to its evolution alongside his dedicated and collaborative team.”

The set debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 137,000 equivalent album units earned in its opening week (Sept. 15-21), according to Luminate. It earns Rod Wave his third leader, after 2021’s SoulFly and 2022’s Beautiful Mind. He joins Taylor Swift as the only acts with new No. 1s on the chart in each of the last three years.

Brooklyn-based indie pop trio Wet debuts at No. 40 on the Hot 100 with its Rod Wave collab “Nostalgia.” The title track and opening song on the new LP enters with 11.1 million official U.S. streams in its opening week. It also begins at No. 13 on Hot Rap Songs and No. 15 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

Wet first appeared on a Billboard chart in 2016 with its debut full-length LP, Don’t You, released on Columbia Records. The set reached No. 76 on the Billboard 200, as well as No. 3 on Vinyl Albums, No. 7 on Alternative Albums and No. 11 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums.

The trio is comprised of Marty Sulkow, Joe Valle and Kelly Zutrau, who met when Valle and Sulkow were students at New York University and Zutrau was at Cooper Union. The act has released two additional albums: Still Run in 2018 (also through Columbia) and Letter Blue in 2021 (via AWAL). Most recently, the group released its seven-song EP Pink Room in July 2022. Along with Rod Wave, Wet has also collaborated with Blood Orange (“Bound”), D’Angelo (“Cruisin’ ”), Fred Again.. (“Kelly [End of a Nightmare]”), Jim-E Stack (“Old Bone”) and Toro y Moi (“Monte Carlo”), among others.

Sadie Jean lands on the Hot 100 for the first time thanks to her Rod Wave team-up “2018.” The song, which samples Jean’s breakthrough 2021 track “WYD Now?,” debuts at No. 61 with 8.9 million U.S. streams. It also starts at No. 21 on Hot Rap Songs and No. 25 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

The pop singer-songwriter had appeared on one ranking before this week: She reached No. 35 on the Emerging Artists chart in December 2021, when she was a sophomore at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. She debuted on the strength of “WYD Now?,” as the track went viral on TikTok ahead of its release at the time, thanks to a snippet she posted on her account. The song continued to grow when Jean issued an “open verse challenge” encouraging users to duet the video with their own verse. The track has since been used in over 112,000 clips on the platform to date. (Activity on TikTok is not included in Billboard‘s charts except for the newly launched TikTok & Billboard Top 50.)

Outside of “WYD Now?,” for which Jean also released a remix with Zai1k and Zakhar last year, she has served up three other solo songs: “Locksmith” in October 2022, “Just Because” this May and “16” in August. She has also collaborated with Wrabel on “Hurts Like Hell,” released in August 2022.

CMA to Add 5 Categories to Its Touring Awards

The Country Music Association has announced changes to its CMA Touring Awards, which recognize behind-the-scenes members of the country music touring community.

New this year, the 2023 CMA Touring Awards will add five categories to its current 15 categories. CMA members will soon be able to vote for crew, backline technician, stage manager, support services company and unsung hero of the year.

In addition, the balloting process for the 2023 CMA Touring Awards has been updated. A nomination round will take place between Friday, Oct. 6 and Thursday, Oct. 19, allowing eligible CMA professional voting members the opportunity to nominate individuals/companies in all 20 categories while providing a brief explanation for their nomination.

A CMA Touring Awards nominations task force will then review the top 20 nominated individuals/companies in each category and determine the finalists.

A final round of voting between Wednesday, Dec. 13, and Thursday, Dec. 28, will allow eligible CMA professional voting members to cast their vote among the top five to eight finalists in each category.

The 2023 CMA Touring Awards ceremony is expected to be held in Nashville in early 2024.

The CMA Touring Awards, originally called the SRO (Standing Room Only) Awards, were created by the CMA board of directors in 1990. The first awards were presented at a black-tie gala during CMA’s Entertainment Expo, also known as the Talent Buyers Entertainment Marketplace. The SRO Awards were renamed the CMA Touring Awards in 2016.

Here are details on the five new CMA Touring Award categories:

Crew of the Year

This award honors the entire crew of a country music tour that executed a multi-city run of shows during the eligibility period. The award recognizes the crew that has consistently demonstrated outstanding professionalism, skills, teamwork, hospitality, innovation and excellence in all aspects of their work. This award is not necessarily for the team supporting the biggest or top-selling tour of the year, but for the crew that has clearly demonstrated the most heart and spirit on the road, making the biggest overall contribution to elevating country music.

Backline Technician of the Year

This award goes to a backline technician who has demonstrated technical proficiency in ensuring exceptional musician and/or artist support on a country tour during the eligibility period.

Stage Manager of the Year

This award goes to a stage manager who has been instrumental in organizing and executing a country tour during the eligibility period.

Support Services Company of the Year

This award goes to a support services company that has maintained high professional standards and delivered creative and innovative ideas through their services provided to a country tour during the eligibility period. This may include video, lighting, merchandise, security, sound equipment leasing, transportation, catering, staging and other touring support services companies.

Unsung Hero of the Year

This award goes to a touring professional who has made invaluable contributions behind the scenes and served as a vital part of a country tour during the eligibility period. The recipient of this award has gone above and beyond their assigned duties and has worked tirelessly to elevate the overall experience for everyone on the tour. Individuals who are eligible to be nominated in the other CMA Touring Award categories are not eligible to be nominated for this award category.

Shakira Charged With Failing to Pay $7 Million in Taxes by Spanish Authorities

Shakira is again facing tax charges in Spain after Barcelona prosecutors charged the singer with allegedly failing to pay $7.1 million in tax on her 2018 income. The Associated Press reported that the action announced on Tuesday (Sept. 26) is tied to allegations that Shakira (born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll), 46, used an offshore company based in a tax haven to avoid paying Spain’s income tax.

A statement from prosecutors noted that Shakira had been notified of the charges in Miami, where she lives.

The latest allegations add to fiscal issues the star is already facing in Barcelona, where she is due to be tried in a separate tax case beginning on Nov. 20, in which prosecutors allege that she failed to pay $15.4 million in taxes between 2012-2014. Prosecutors claim Shakira spent more than half her time in Spain during those years, even though her official residence was listed as the Bahamas.

At press time a spokesperson for Shakira had not responded to Billboard‘s request for comment on the latest charges.

The AP reported that Spanish tax officials opened the new tax case against Shakira in July and decided to bring the charges after reviewing the evidence gathered over the past two months. No trial date has been set yet on the new charges. The Colombian singer has been tied to the nation for more than a decade due to her 11-year relationship with retired FC Barcelona soccer player Gerard Piqué, with whom she shares two children; the couple broke up in 2022.

Last year, Shakira rejected a settlement deal offered by prosecutors, opting to go to trial instead after paying an estimated $24 million fine. At the time, her London-based publicist said that the singer had, “always cooperated and abided by the law, demonstrating impeccable conduct as an individual and a taxpayer,” while accusing the Spanish Tax Agency of violating her rights. Prosecutors said at the time that they would ask the court to sentence Shakira to eight years and two months in prison if convicted of tax fraud.

Foo Fighters’ ‘Under You’ on Top of Three Rock Radio Charts

Foo Fighters score a chart-topping triple on Billboard’s rock radio charts as “Under You” ascends to No. 1 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay, Alternative Airplay and Mainstream Rock Airplay lists dated Sept. 30. Thanks to the new champ, the Dave Grohl-fronted group extends its record for the most leaders on Rock & Alternative Airplay.

“Under You” climbs from No. 2 to crown Rock & Alternative Airplay following a 13% jump to 7.5 million in audience in the week ending Sept. 21, according to Luminate. With the rise, it ends the 20-week reign of Linkin Park’s “Lost,” which tied the Foo Fighters’ own 2011 hit “Rope” for the second-longest reign in the chart’s history. The pair trails only Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive,” which dominated for 24 weeks in 2013, as the title with the most weeks at No. 1 since the list began in 2009.

As “Under You” hits the top, it extends the Foos’ record for the most No. 1s by any artist on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, which reflects reach on all rock formats. Here’s a look at the current standings:

11, Foo Fighters
6, Cage The Elephant
6, Green Day
6, twenty one pilots
5, The Black Keys
5, Imagine Dragons

On Alternative Airplay, “Under You” likewise advances from the runner-up rank to lead the list. The coronation comes after a 6% increase in weekly plays that made the single the most-played song on U.S. monitored alternative rock radio stations in the week ending Sept. 21. The new champ secures Foo Fighters their 12th No. 1 on Alternative Airplay, lifting the band into a three-way tie with Green Day and Linkin Park for second place on the overall count. Red Hot Chili Peppers, with 15 leaders, claim top honors.

(Earlier this month, Foo Fighters were revealed as the No. 1 act upon the Alternative Airplay chart’s 35th anniversary.)

Plus, “Under You” jumps 4-1 to capture the top slot on Mainstream Rock Airplay thanks to a 13% surge in weekly plays that translates to the song’s status as the most-played track on U.S. monitored mainstream rock radio stations for the week. The new No. 1 pushes Foo Fighters to their 13th chart-topper on the radio ranking, matching them with Van Halen for a joint share of the fourth-most among all acts since the list launched in 1981. Shinedown heads the leaderboard with 18 No. 1s, with Three Days Grace (17) next up and Five Finger Death Punch (14) third.

“Under You” appears on Foo Fighters’ latest LP, But Here We Are, released in June. The set (the band’s first studio effort since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022) topped the Alternative Albums chart for one week, peaked at No. 2 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums and became the band’s 10th top 10 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

Niall Horan Recalls How Kim Kardashian Hilariously Introduced Him to North West

Niall Horan has a squeaky clean reputation in the Kardashian-West household — at least, as far as dental hygiene goes. On the kickoff episode of this season of The Voice, the returning coach shared the unconventional way Kim Kardashian introduced him to her and Kanye West‘s eldest daughter North West, who apparently associated the Irish singer more with brushing her teeth than with his music or One Direction.

“The first time I met Kim Kardashian, I was backstage at an Ariana Grande concert,” he shared. “And she brought North, her daughter, up. And this is how she introduced North to me, she said, ‘North, this is the guy that sings from your toothbrush!’”

The topic came up following a stellar blind audition from 19-year-old Olivia Minogue, who revealed that she was wearing a “Niall” necklace after finishing her performance of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down.” This prompted Horan to joke that “the merch did well, guys!” before sharing his story about the teeth-cleaning piece of merchandise evidently purchased by the Kardashian-West family.

Based on the “Slow Hands” singer’s story, it’s unclear whether Kardashian was referring to a toothbrush that played one of Horan’s solo songs or a track from his former boy band’s discography, although co-coach John Legend seemed to think it was the latter. “You guys had singing toothbrushes?” the “All Of Me” musician asked incredulously.

“Oh, did we,” Horan confirmed. Then, emphasizing his point, Minogue revealed that she actually used to have one herself.

Unsurprisingly, Minogue went on to choose Horan as her coach for the season, even though Legend and newcomer Reba McEntire had also both turned their chairs around for the teenager’s soulful voice. The three musicians, along with Gwen Stefani, make up The Voice coaching panel for season 24, which premiered on Monday (Sept. 25). It marks Horan’s second season on the show.

Watch Horan recall meeting Kim Kardashian and North West in the video above.
