Everything You Need to Know About Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito Festival In Medellín

Karol G‘s Mañana Será Bonito tour is heading to Latin America, and her first stop is her hometown of Medellin, Colombia, where she has prepared something special for her fans. Offering the ultimate Mañana Será Bonito experience, the two-day (Dec. 1-2) sold-out event at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot is a festival of sorts that will include attractions, food and special guests.

Ahead of this special and colorful event, and a few hours before officially opening the doors of the MSB Festival, Karol G shared on her Instagram stories a heartfelt message, explaining the importance of this moment on a personal and professional level.

“My home is the place where the dream began, the desire, the motivation … where we took the first step,” she wrote. “All of you have seen me grow, we have done it together, and although there is still a lot of work to do, I am happy to see how big this family is … Who said that no one is a prophet in their own land when Colombia has given me everything …? It brings tears to my eyes to know that my year ends at home, in the city where I was born and which believed in me before any other place. Today we are going to enjoy, we are going to dance, we are going to laugh and we are going to be immensely happy together.”

The festival kicks off just months after Karol G concluded her first-ever U.S. stadium tour. The Mañana Será Bonito stint — named after her history-making, Latin Grammy-winning album — landed at No. 11 on Billboard‘s Top Tours 2023 chart with $146.9 million and 843,000 tickets sold from just 19 dates. Her Mañana Será Bonito tour throughout Latin America will include stops in Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, Argentina, among other countries. See the list of tour dates here.

Here’s what to expect at Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito Festival in Medellín, which kicks off Friday (Dec. 1).

Perfect Timing: These Grammy-Nominated Tracks Are Top 40 Hits on the Hot 100 as Final-Round Voting Approaches

Tyla, the 21-year old South African singer/songwriter, has exquisite timing.

She has broken big just as the Recording Academy added a new category this year, best African music performance. Her global hit “Water” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart on Oct. 21, one day after first-round voting for the 66th Grammy Awards ended. On Nov. 10, “Water” was announced as one of the nominees in that category. This week, just two weeks before final-round voting begins, that hit breaks into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. (Final-round voting extends from Dec. 14 to Jan. 4, 2024.)

Tyla couldn’t have timed her breakthrough, and her song’s emergence as a top 10 hit, better if she had done it all specifically with Grammy deadlines in mind.

Does having a hit right as Grammy voters are making their final selections make a difference? Let’s just say it never hurt.

And Tyla isn’t alone. Here are other songs in this week’s top 40 on the Hot 100 that are nominated for Grammys this year (or are from albums that are Grammy-nominated). We also included two artists with hits in the current top 40 who are nominated for best new artist (Jelly Roll and Noah Kahan).

The numbers shown are the song’s ranking on the Hot 100 dated Dec. 2.

3. Doja Cat, “Paint the Town Red.” Best pop solo performance

5. SZA, “Snooze.” Best R&B song, album of the year and best progressive R&B album (SOS).

6. Zach Bryan featuring Kacey Musgraves, “I Remember Everything.”  Best country duo/group performance, best country song, best country album (Zach Bryan)

10. Tyla, “Water.” Best African music performance

14. Morgan Wallen, “Last Night.” Best country song (Note: Wallen isn’t nominated because he didn’t co-write the song.)

18. Luke Combs, “Fast Car.” Best country solo performance

21. Jelly Roll, “Need a Favor.” Best new artist

22. Jelly Roll with Lainey Wilson, “Save Me.” Best new artist, best country duo/group performance

23. Olivia Rodrigo, “Vampire.” Record of the year, song of the year, best pop solo performance, album of the year and best pop vocal album (Guts)

27. Chris Stapleton, “White Horse.” Best country solo performance, best country song

30. Miley Cyrus, “Used to Be Young.” Album of the year and best pop vocal album (Endless Summer Vacation)

31. Dua Lipa, “Dance the Night.” Song of the year, best song written for visual media, best score soundtrack for visual media (Barbie: The Album)

36. Billie Eilish, “What Was I Made For.” Record of the year, song of the year, best pop solo performance, best music video, best song written for visual media, best score soundtrack for visual media (Barbie: The Album)

37. Noah Kahan, “Stick Season.” Best new artist

Karol G Appears in the Griselda Trailer

In early 2022, Billboard reported that Karol G was “taking acting lessons [in Los Angeles] and playing an evolving character in the world of drugs” — and at last, we will see the Colombian singer make her acting debut. This week, Netflix shared the official trailer of Griselda, starring Sofía Vergara as Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug queen. Karol, who is featured in the trailer, will make her Netflix acting debut as Carla, one of Griselda’s mules who transports drugs to the U.S., when the series debuts on January 25. “It’s a great role because there’s real character development,” she previously told Billboard. Carla, she explains, “is a character that evolves. She sees what she does as a job, but also as a way to maintain her family, and she’s tough! She reaches another level.” Watch the trailer below:

Maestro Cares Announces Honorees for 10th Annual Gala

Marc Anthony and Henry Cárdenas, co-founders of Maestro Cares Foundation, announced the 2023 honorees for their 10th annual “Changing Lives, Building Dreams” gala. Recognized for their contributions and charitable work in film, television and the corporate world, the three honorees are: American rapper and actress Queen Latifah, who will be honored with the Maestro Cares Courage to Care Award; Mexican actor and comedian Eugenio Derbez, who will receive the Maestro Cares Voice of Change Award; and entrepreneur Sam Nazarian , who will be presented with the Maestro Cares Corporate Responsibility Award.

“Henry Cárdenas and I are very excited to celebrate our foundation’s milestone by honoring the legacy of this group of remarkable individuals, who through their careers have made enormous contributions to their communities and our society,” Anthony said in a statement.

The 2023 Changing Lives, Building Dreams Gala will take place Dec. 5 at  Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Proceeds of the fundraiser, according to the statement, “will provide essential support for the non-profit organization established to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged children and communities in Latin America and the United States.”

Blur Tributes Peso Pluma

During Blur’s return to Latin America, the leader of the British group, Damon Albarn, paid tribute to Mexican superstar Peso Pluma and his Eslabon Armado-assisted hit “Ella Baila Sola.” The presentation, which took place from Nov. 17 to 19 at the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico’s Foro Sol, caused the astonishment of the 80,000 attendees (according to figures from the promoter Ocesa). The famous song reached No. 1 on Billboard’s year-end Hot Latin Songs chart.

Albarn—who was carrying the Mexican flag on his back while he performed a fragment of the popular song on the piano—previously explained to a British magazine why his favorite new artist of the moment was the popular corridos performer. “He’s a young Mexican who won eight Billboards. He plays this kind of music that talks about gang life, but it’s very musical. He has accordions, trumpets, and lovely melodies. He has a great voice. Everyone should listen to it,” he said in the interview. The Briton previously collaborated with Gorillaz and reggaeton super star Bad Bunny on “Tormenta.” Could his next Latin collab be with Peso? Fridayy’s Manager Edgar Cutino Launches New Management Company

Edgar Cutino, manager for Grammy-nominated R&B singer Fridayy, has launched a new management company called To The World Soon. In addition to Fridayy, Cutino’s new company is working with artists Rome Flynn, Elliot Trent, BaeRose, June3rd, Fortune and Landon Moss.

Fridayy has been one of the breakout in-demand featured stars of the past year, making his chart debut in August 2022 as a featured guest on the DJ Khaled track “God Did” alongside JAY-Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and John Legend, which peaked at No. 17 on the Hot 100 and earned three Grammy nominations, for best rap song, best rap performance and a surprise Big Four nod for song of the year. In October 2022, he appeared on the Lil Baby song “Forever,” which reached No. 8 on the Hot 100. Fridayy has been working with Cutino for three years, after the two first connected over Instagram.

“[Cutino] introduced me to writing and a different way to get into the industry,” Fridayy said in a statement to Billboard. “We really built what we have from the ground up. We figured it out together and we both were hungry for success. I tell artists it’s never about the name; when two people come together who believe in each other and are hungry, there’s no telling what can happen.”

Getting his start as a party promoter, Cutino launched a collective of engineers, producers and photographers for local acts in the San Antonio area, helping establish artists in the local scene. In addition to Fridayy and his roster at TTWS, he’s worked on projects by Drake, Chris Brown, Lil Baby, Swedish House Mafia and more, according to a press release.

Fridayy himself got his start as a producer and songwriter, working on tracks by Rae Sremmurd, Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa, and also co-produced “God Did.” He signed a deal with Def Jam, which released his self-titled debut this past August.

“Edgar is the rare kind of young executive with the taste level, hunger, drive and vision needed to become one of the greats,” Def Jam CEO Tunji Balogun said in a statement. “As an A&R, Edgar has contributed across the entire roster at Def Jam, while also spearheading one of the most exciting new artist campaigns evolving in music right now. I’m excited and inspired to play a small role in their journey as it continues to blossom.”

From Kaytranada’s surprising new singles to Dove Cameron’s long-awaited debut album, check out just a few of our favorite new releases from this week here:

KAYTRANADA feat. Rochelle Jordan & Channel Tres, “Lover/Friend” & “Stuntin”

Leave it to Kaytranada to give us a breath of fresh air right before 2023 comes to a close. On his pair of new singles “Lover/Friend” and “Stuntin,” the taste-making producer/DJ continues his hot streak of creating airy, grooving house jams to keep your party going. Throughout “Lover/Friend,” Kay and Rochelle Jones enrapture their audience with a scintillating melody, while “Stuntin” sees him team up with Channel Tres for a perfectly in-the-pocket jam session.

Dove Cameron, Alchemical: Volume 1

Taking one thing and transmuting it into something brand new is virtually impossible — but as Dove Cameron proves on Alchemical: Volume 1, it’s a worthy endeavor. With her debut album, the fast-rising alt-pop singer adds trauma, heartbreak, pain and self-doubt into a bubbling cauldron of brooding melodies and top-shelf songwriting, mixing them together until they morph into A+ pop songs rife with life lessons and self-actualization. Alchemical isn’t quite magic, but with Cameron at the helm, it sure feels like it.

Holly Humberstone feat. MUNA, “Into Your Room”

Did you really like Holly Humberstone’s “Into Your Room” but just wished it had a touch more flair? Enter MUNA. On the band’s remixed version of Humberstone’s already-excellent single, the sounds slightly shift to an electro-pop groove, as the trio jump into the second verse to add their own interpretation of the track’s hopeless romantic aesthetic. It’s a match made in heaven, and one you ought to hear ASAP.

carpetgarden, “Cheerleader”

Gimme a Y! Gimme an E! Gimme an S! What’s that spell? YES. With their latest release, rising indie rock singer Carpetgarden is ready to take on the role of the titular cheerleader in this fuzzy new jam. Throughout the punk-adjacent, angst-fueled new jam, Carpetgarden takes on a voyeuristic point of view when looking at the “popular girls” of the world, wishing that they could know what it feels like to have that kind of power — and with more music to come, it’s a near-certainty that they’ll get to feel that mass adoration soon enough.

RAEGAN, “Coins”

Looking for a quick confidence boost as you head into the weekend? Rising alt-pop artist Raegan has got you covered. On “Coins,” the singer-songwriter celebrates the pay off to a long-fought journey. Instead of wallowing in the could’ve-been, Raegan instead focuses on the here and now, counting her dollars and reaping the benefits of her hard work. Add in a slick beat and grinding bass line, and you’ll feel that infectious energy start to pay you in dividends.

Wisin Talks La Base, Working With Young Miko and Don Omar and the Future of Wisin & Yandel

A few hours before he was set to take the stage at Oasis this past October, an open air club in Miami, Wisin’s backstage trailer was packed with bold-faced names. There was J Balvin, side by side with fellow Colombian Ryan Castro, Dominican dembow king El Alfa, Colombian rapper Farina, producers Luny, Tunes and DJ Nelson, and a bevvy of young and established artists — all there to pay their respects to one of reggaetón’s legends.

The thing with Wisin, though, is he’s a legend that continues to churn out hits, on an almost weekly basis. That night at Oasis, he was performing with special guests Luny Tunes and DJ Nelson as part of the official presentation of his label and collective, La Base, presented by Smirnoff as part of Billboard Latin Music Week. On November 30, he released “Señorita,” a new reggaetón single with newcomer Young Miko, who he calls “very talented and full of potential.” It follows “Sandunga,” a single with two other legends: Don Omar and Yandel. On February, he will release Mr. W, an album that he describes as “full of fusions and different collaborations. It’s an album that has been done as a team, and it’s full of the knowledge and energy of many people.”

That thirst for knowledge and for collaboration in music is at the root of Wisin’s long career, and defines La Base — his recording studio, record label and musical co-op. With offices and studios in Puerto Rico, dozens of artists — from Ozuna to Chencho and Don Omar — have gone to La Base to create and record.

Following his participation in Latin Music Week, which included his performance at Oasis, as well as a panel with production legends Luny, Tunes and DJ Nelson (and moderated by radio personality Molusco), we spoke with Wisin about the past and future of the genre, and what comes next for him and La Base.

You were the anchor of a truly historic panel with historic figures during Billboard Latin Music Week in October. Why was it important to participate?

First of all, it was an honor to sit down next to Luny, Tunes and DJ Nelson. Since The Noice [DJ Nelson’s legendary urban music collective], before we [Wisin and Yandel] were even artists, we dreamed of being like them. It’s also an honor for me to talk about our experiences and the knowledge gained for over two decades. Obviously, we’ve cried, we’ve stumbled, and we’ve learned from the blows. When we started out, there were no opportunities, no tools. So, we’re happy to still be relevant, and to have Billboard allow us the opportunity to tell our experiences to new talents and new producers, so they can also learn. I think it was a historic panel, where every speaker has given so much to urban music. I have no words to describe how important it was to be there.

And what was the significance of bringing La Base to Miami for a performance?

An achievement. Not just for me but for this group of dreamers that make up La Base. For Hyde El Químico and all the legendary producers and writers that go to La Base every day to create big things. Flying over the ocean to bring our music and our productions to Miami was incredible. I felt the unconditional support of so many colleagues that were there. And that’s what music is about. It’s about sharing, exchanging ideas and learning from each other.

Why did you invite Luny Tunes? What is their importance for the genre?

Luny Tunes is one of the key pieces of our urban movement. I dreamt of working with them when I first started, and I’ve learned so much from them. I learned to dream, to fuse musical genres and I learned that our urban music works with all different genres of music. It’s also important that people see them and understand they’re pillars of this movement. What an honor that they can be part of my enterprise right now — and what an honor, brother, that they support me.

What is La Base’s role in the future of the genre?

Continue dreaming and giving opportunities and tools to new artists. Continue [providing] a platform in Puerto Rico, from my home town, Cayey, for dreamers, writers and producers. This isn’t only for artists. Being big in music is not just for those who have the microphone and do shows. It’s for everyone who is collaborating in the process, and for different people who go to La Base every day to dream.

How important are collaborations to you?

I believe completely in them. My next album, Mr. W,  is going to be full of collabs, of fusions, of different genres and styles. I think that’s where the magic is. I want to collaborate with people who are not like me and who do different things from what I do. That’s the beauty of music and of urban music. Obviously, reggaetón is still our core, and what we do best, but we’re daring to do different things. And I want to thanks the many artists and producers who worked on this album. It’s teamwork, and I believe in teamwork and in learning from others.

You just released “Sandunga” with Don Omar and Yandel. How important is it for you to work with Don Omar?

It’s always an honor to work with Don Omar. He’s the king of reggaetón and one of the most talented artists I’ve worked with, with a vocal prowess like few I’ve ever encountered. We’ve done so many hits, but this is the first time we make a video together. And, we did the reggaetón we all know how to do. We knew millions of people wanted to hear something like that; the sound of the clubs, the barrios, the root of the movement. I want to publicly thank Don for the opportunity.

What’s going to happen to Wisin and Yandel?

WIsin and Yandel is an immortal brand. Not making music with Yandel would [show] a lack of respect to millions of people. In my new album we have a song together called “Reggaetón.” Obviously, Yandel has his company, and I have mine. But we continue to make music together, knowing millions of people love what we do.

And, what’s next for La Base?

From the moment we opened our doors, La Base has been producing every day, not just for us, but for different artists. We did Ozuna’s new album, many of Wisin and Yandel singles, we just finished mixing Jowell and Randy’s new album, and of course, my album Mr. W is being recorded there. We get new talent and new songs every day. That’s what La Base is. A music and talent factory and our doors are always open to talent. We’re honored that so many people have come to the mountains of Puerto Rico to make music with us.

Music Catalog Values Rose Slightly in 2023 — But a Leveling Out Is Coming

Artists who decided to sell their catalogs in 2023 did a little better, on average, than the year before, according to a new report by Shot Tower Capital, a Baltimore-based investment banking firm that focuses on media and entertainment.

The average multiple of private music publishing catalogs — excluding a small number of iconic catalogs that fetch a premium — increased to 17.2 times net publisher’s share (or gross profit after paying writer royalties) in 2023 from 16.7 times NPS in 2022. Including iconic catalogs, the average multiple decreased slightly in 2023 to 19.2 times net publishers share from 19.4 times NPS in 2022.

While the average multiple improved this year, the 17.2 times NPS average was well below the peak of 20.1 times NPS in 2019, as well as below the 17.9 NPS average for the period spanning 2019 to 2023.

Even so, catalog valuations have held up well amid recent higher inflation rates, Shot Tower explains, even as interest rates — which began to climb in 2021 after falling to historic lows at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 — have tamped down valuations. That’s because buyers’ future growth expectations have increased, due in part to increased upcoming distributions from the Music Licensing Collective — thanks to favorable Copyright Royalty Board rate determinations this year — and the development of new digital sources such as TikTok.

A shift amongst buyers in the catalog market has also brought catalog valuations down from their 2019 peak.

Hipgnosis Songs Fund, the publicly traded investment trust founded by Merck Mercuriadis, was the price-setter from 2018 to 2021. In the latter year, Hipgnosis Songs Fund bought stakes in such catalogs as Neil Young, Shakira and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Before Hipgnosis Songs Fund’s IPO in 2018, the average publishing catalog multiple was 16.2 times NPS in 2017. That jumped to 18.8 times NPS in 2018 and 20.1 times NPS in 2019 and 18.8 times NPS in 2020. In 2022, though, when Hipgnosis Songs Fund was unable to raise more money through additional equity offerings and stopped buying catalogs, the average publishing multiple dropped to 16.9 times NPS. Since 2022, Hipgnosis Songs Management has been employing a more disciplined approach for its privately held fund, Hipgnosis Songs Capital, which is backed by Blackstone, sources tell Billboard.

Shot Tower believes catalog buyers like Hipgnosis Songs Fund and Round Hill Music Royalty Fund — another publicly listed investment trust that Concord acquired in October — now have less influence in current transaction valuations. Instead, large companies are showing their willingness to pay a premium to control rights such as licensing. As interest rates increase, the Shot Tower report states, “yield-focused financial investors have pulled back” and strategic buyers — major labels and publishers — “continue their focus on acquiring quality assets with control where they can impact long-term growth.”

New capital investment will favor the approach taken by these strategic buyers, according to the report. Publishing and recorded music catalogs that provide full control — such as owning 100% of the publisher’s and songwriter’s shares — will continue to be highly valued by strategic buyers. Rights of “marginal quality” catalogs and passive income “are finding less demand.” There’s are good reasons for placing a premium on control: Shot Tower estimates the ability to eliminate third-party distribution and administration costs is equal to an immediate increase in a valuation multiple of 2.0 times NPS or NLS. In addition, having control over a catalog provides opportunities for licensing and new projects with “potential to drive growth far in excess of industry averages.”

While the typical publishing catalog transaction value has leveled off since the 2019 peak, a few iconic catalogs — Shot Tower defines them as exceeding $200 million — approached 30 times NPS in 2023, a level matched in 2021 but higher than amounts paid in 2022. These catalogs go “primarily to an existing label/publisher with highly strategic (and sometimes defensive) reasons for purchasing at above-market prices,” the report explains.

One such iconic recorded music catalog sold for nearly 30 times net label share in 2023, according to the report — a much higher multiple than recorded music deals in previous years. (The report does not name the iconic catalog sold in 2023, but the only recorded music transaction exceeding $200 million that was made public this year was Litmus Music’s purchase of Katy Perry’s catalog for $225 million.) In previous years, iconic recorded music catalogs sold for between 22 times and 26 times net label share, or profit after royalty payments; and distribution, manufacturing, warehousing and shipment costs, but before marketing expenses.

Recorded music multiples — for both iconic and non-iconic catalogs — have risen over time while publishing multiples are consistent with levels seen in the late ‘90s, according to Shot Tower. That’s because the record business’s shift from physical to digital has helped improve record labels’ margins. Shot Tower points to Warner Music Group as an example: In 2010, when physical sales exceeded digital revenues, WMG’s adjusted earnings before taxes, interest, depreciation and amortization margin was 13.4%. By 2023, WMG’s adjusted EBITDA margin had improved to 23.8%. Shot Tower estimates that every 1% shift in revenue from physical to digital and streaming has increased WMG’s EBITDA and cash flow margins by about 25 basis points (a basis point is one-hundredth of a percentage point). If digital sources eventually account for 95% of recorded music sales, margins have the potential to improve another 5%.

Expect similar multiples in the coming years, says Shot Tower. Although its crystal ball is “a bit hazy” — uncertain interest rate and macroeconomic environments make predictions difficult — the firm expects interests to “moderate” in the first half of 2024 and multiples “to remain steady for the foreseeable future with higher-than-projected industry growth being offset by the continued drag of higher interest rates.”

Based on current growth projections, and adjusting for the current interest rate environment, ex-icon publishing multiples will range from 15.9 to 16.7 times NPS over the next four years. That’s in line with prior periods but a slip from the most recent years and well below the peaks from 2018 to 2020. Multiples averaged 16.4 times NPS from 2014 to 2022 but exceeded 18.0 times NPS from 2018 and 2020 and peaked at 20.1 times NPS in 2019.

As for recorded music, Shot Tower expects an average ex-icon multiple of 12.9 to 13.4 times net label share over the next four years. That’s in line with post-2020 trends that saw multiples jump as investors became convinced streaming would be a financial boon to recorded music revenues. Historically, the larger marketing spending associated with master recordings and a lower diversity of revenue streams has caused recorded music to trade at lower multiples to publishing assets. Shot Tower believes recorded music will continue to trade at a discount to publishing multiples despite margins improving as streaming accounts for a higher percentage of recorded music’s revenue mix.

But the value gap has become closer between music publishing and recorded music assets. In 2020, recorded music transactions carried an average NLS multiple of 10.4 times while music publishing transactions averaged an 18.8 NPS multiple that year — with a gap of 8.4 times between them. In 2022, that gap narrowed to 4.3 times, with a 12.4 times NLS multiple for recorded music and a 16.7 NPS for music publishing.

Shot Tower Capital has closed financings and M&A transactions in excess of $16 billion since its founding in 2012. Those have included such deals as the sale of Imagem to Concord, the sales of Phil Collins and Genesis catalogs also to Concord, and Michael Jackson’s estate share of Sony/ATV to Sony. If the Shot Tower principals David Dunn and Rob Law’s entertainment deals from the prior employment at the firms Alex. Brown and and Bear Stearns, respectively, are included, they have closed over 125 media, entertainment and consumer related transactions representing aggregate value exceeding $70 billion, according to the report.

Bhad Bhabie Is Pregnant: See the Bump Pic

Congratulations are in order for Bhad Bhabie, who surprised fans on Friday (Dec. 1) by revealing that she’s pregnant.

The 20-year-old “Gucci Flip Flops” rapper, born Danielle Bregoli, took to Instagram to post a series of two mirror selfies, in which she’s seen wearing a white t-shirt hugging her growing baby bump. The star did not caption the photo, though the snap speaks for itself.

While Bregoli did not reveal who the father is, the only other photo currently on her Instagram page is a birthday post to her boyfriend, a fellow rapper named X Game LV. “Happy birthday baby,” she captioned the Nov. 11 post, where the duo are seen posing court side at a basketball game.

Bregoli rose to prominence in 2016 following her Dr. Phil-spawned meme “Cash Me Outside,” and went on to capitalize on the fame with a rap career. She released her debut single “These Heaux” in 2017, and subsequently signed to Atlantic Records. She released her mixtape, 15, in September 2018 and even starred in a Snapchat reality series, Bringing Up Bhabie. In 2021, she launched her own record label, Bhad Music, under which she plans to release her debut EP.

She’s also had a successful run on OnlyFans, revealing in April 2022 that she made $52 million on the paid subscription service. Back in 2021, Billboard confirmed that the 19-year-old star racked up $1 million on OnlyFans in just six hours, breaking a record for the often-NSFW subscription platform.

In a surprising announcement, MSNBC has canceled journalist Mehdi Hasan’s show as part of a new weekend lineup change.

Fans of veteran journalist Mehdi Hasan got some bad news as it was reported that MSNBC has ended his show as part of a broader lineup change for its weekend programming. His one-hour show which aired on Sundays will be taken over by fellow journalist Ayman Mohyeldin, whose own show will extend from one hour to two. Hasan will stay on with MSNBC as an analyst and a fill-in host when the occasion arises. Other changes include Jonathan Capehart’s time slot on the weekends being moved to 6 P.M., and analyst and lawyer Katie Phang’s show being moved to noon on Saturdays.

MSNBC President Rashida Jones announced the changes in an internal memo sent out on Thursday (November 30), saying the moves “will evolve our weekend programming to better position ourselves as we head into the presidential election.” The news of Hasan’s show ending was met with dismay, considering that he was one of the journalists who had been asking hard questions of the Israeli government as their war against Hamas began on October 7, with an interview with senior adviser Mark Regev.

One prominent figure voicing their dismay is Democratic Representative Ro Khanna of California, who called the decision “bad optics” for MSNBC. “As a strong supporter of free speech, MSNBC owes the public an explanation for this decision. Why would they choose to do this now?”, he wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The major component of the shakeup is the debut of The Weekend, a new show that will be hosted by MSNBC anchors Alicia Menendez, Symone Sanders-Townsend, and Michael Steele. The Weekend will air from Washington D.C. from 8 to 10 AM on Saturdays and Sundays beginning January 13. Menendez joined MSNBC in 2019 and had her program on Saturdays and Sundays before the move. Sanders-Townsend also had her own MSNBC show, SYMONE which aired on Peacock as well after joining the network in 2022 after serving as Senior Advisor and Chief Spokesperson to Vice President Kamala Harris. A former lieutenant governor of Maryland and RNC Chairman, Steele has been a frequent guest and fill-in host on MSNBC.
