After decades of having a “clean shaven” policy for their players, the New York Yankees are finally getting with the times (kinda) and allowing their baseball superstars to grow beards and look like manly men when taking the field going forward.

According to Daily Mail, New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner announced Friday (Feb. 21) that he was reversing George Steinbrenner’s age-old policy of having his players hit the field with no mustache or beard, which in turn alienated many star free agents over the years who love their facial hair as much as they love their money. Though Steinbrenner made it clear that said bears would have to be well-groomed, at least Yankees players and potential free agents now have the option of growing their designer stubbles when playing for the Bronx Bombers.
Per Daily Mail:

The full statement reads: ‘In recent weeks I have spoken to a large number of former and current Yankees — spanning several eras — to elicit their perspectives on our longstanding facial hair and grooming policy, and I appreciate their earnest and varied feedback.
‘These most recent conversations are an extension of ongoing internal dialogue that dates back several years. Ultimately the final decision rests with me, and after great consideration, we will be amending our expectations to allow our players and uniformed personnel to have well-groomed beards moving forward.
‘It is the appropriate time to move beyond the familiar comfort of our former policy.’
Well, that only took four decades.
Naturally, fans were overjoyed with the rule change as many free agents have balked at signing with the Yankees based off the rule alone while others have joined the Yankees and shaven off their signature facial hair to look, well, kind of corny. Just sayin’.
In recent years, the policy had been described as outdated by many of its critics, and players who have left the franchise have repeatedly criticized it.
Among the most vocal critics were Andrew McCutchen and Clint Frazier, while some other players from around the league have even claimed they would not join the Yankees purely because of the ruling.
With the LA Dodgers building a super-duper squad out in Los Angeles and Juan Soto famously choosing the Mets over the Yankees, it looks like Hal Steinbrenner is taking no chances on missing out on any potential superstar free agent going forward and has taken the first step in ensuring that they can offer their potential target the most simplest of enjoyments, a full grown and well-groomed beard.

If Cashman can get the team an excellent world-renowned barber to park his talents at Yankees Stadium, it might be a wrap for the rest of the league going forward. Who wouldn’t wanna sign with the Bronx Bombers?

After months of speculation and anticipation, MLB superstar slugger Juan Soto has decided to stay in New York City, but unfortunately, for Yankees fans he’ll be relocating to Queens as he signed a massive $765 million deal with the New York Mets.

Needless to say, half of the Big Apple is on cloud 9 while the other half is heartbroken and distraught. At least Juan Soto remains a New Yorker, right? Yes, a 15-year $765 million contract seems ridiculous, but the man is only 26-years-old and has already built himself a career worthy of the Hall of Fame, so by the time his contract is up he’ll still probably be a problem when stepping into the batter’s box.
According to NPR, Soto’s record-breaking contract isn’t only well-earned but well-deserved.
Per NPR:

From the beginning of his major league career, the Dominican-born Soto has been a star. In his first start as a 19-year-old with the Nationals, he hit a home run in his first appearance at the plate. He quickly became a fan favorite with his easy smile and “Soto shuffle,” his trademark shimmy at the plate. He won a World Series title with the team in 2019, the first in the franchise’s history.
In 2022, he was traded to the San Diego Padres, who then dealt him to the New York Yankees ahead of the 2024 season.
On a one-year deal in New York, Soto had the best year of his still-young career, with 41 regular season home runs and another four in the playoffs during the Yankees’ unsuccessful bid for the World Series. He received the third-most votes in the American League MVP race. Since his debut in 2018, he’s won a total of five Silver Slugger awards and four All-Star game appearances.
Yankees fans were hoping to see Soto and Aaron Judge terrorize pitchers for years to come, but it now seems like it’ll be Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor doing the terrorizing.
How do y’all feel about Juan Soto bouncing on the Bronx to turn up in Queens? Let us know in the comments section below. We know this guy wasn’t too happy…

Eric Adams cannot do anything right. He cannot correctly represent NYC’s professional baseball teams.
The indicted Mayor of New York City is getting dragged on social media again for a swaggerless baseball cap he wore during the Columbus Day parade.
Trying to capitalize on the excitement of a potential Subway Series World Series with the New York Mets and Yankees in their respective division championship series, Adams proudly sported a fitted cap featuring both teams’ logos while marching down Fifth Avenue.
As the embattled mayor continues to see the walls close in on him as the federal corruption probe into his campaign intensifies, Adams is looking for any way to gain favor with New Yorkers who continue to grow tired of his antics. Unfortunately for him, this gesture backfired big time.
Per The New York Times:
“I’m like everyday New Yorkers,” Mr. Adams told reporters on Monday, with the curved brim cap situated on his head.
Fabien Levy, a spokesman for the mayor, said that the hat captured a mayor caught between his personal fandom and his political duties.
“Mayor Adams is a long-suffering Mets fan and has been clear he’s cheering them on to win it all (what can I say, no one is perfect),” Mr. Levy said in an email. “But as the mayor of the greatest city in the world, he’s also rooting for a subway series that will make millions of New York sports fans happy, while bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars of economic impact for our city.”
A Similar Hat Sold At A NYC Store Sold Out Online
Well, that’s not the case because both Yankees and Mets fans are clowning the snapback hat that Mr. Levy says belonged to someone on Adams’ staff and is a relic from the 2000 World Series that featured both the Yankees and Mets.
A similar hat can be found at Exclusive Fitted, a hat store in Jamaica, Queens. The hat, which retails for $45, sold out online, so maybe fans were just irritated by seeing Adams wearing it.
You can peep reactions to Adams getting clowned in the gallery below.
