N-Word

The actor Kevin Sorbo challenged Vice President Kamala Harris to prove her Blackness by using the N-word & was promptly mocked online.Right-wing figures have been following the lead of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump by slandering the racial background of Vice President Kamala Harris. The most disturbing public comment made yet comes courtesy of Kevin Sorbo via a post on X, formerly Twitter last Thursday (August 8). Sorbo wrote, “If Kamala really is black, have her say the N-word, let the people decide for themselves.”

The post is the latest volley in a string of attacks on Vice President Harris, who is the second Black woman and first of South Asian descent to run for president of the United States. Trump has steadily insulted Harris’ racial identity, beginning with his remarks made during his controversial appearance at the National Association for Black Journalists in Chicago, Illinois.
The former Hercules: The Legendary Journeys actor has been a fervent supporter of Donald Trump and conservatives in the past, often resharing posts mocking President Joe Biden in addition to those mocking other Democratic politicians. Sorbo has also been called out by others for pushing conspiracy theories on social media, such as a recent one concerning photos capturing the crowd size at a recent rally for Harris and her presidential running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. He also has gotten in trouble for spreading misinformation about COVID-19 and the vaccines used to treat it, which led to Facebook removing his page in 2021.
While there were a bunch of people who took the post by the 65-year-old as a joke, it came as a shock to many social media users. A few took the opportunity to mock Sorbo directly, with one X user named Michael J. Miraflor stating, “You’re never beating the weird allegations with columnist Parker Malloy writing in another response, “What is your obsession with that word?”
Sorbo was unfazed, stating in another post on X, “I have yet to be proven wrong.” In response, his Hercules co-star and Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless jabbed Sorbo in a post on X, calling him by a nickname: “Peanut: I don’t see people. I only see color.”  The two have often clashed over politics, with Lawless blasting him for defending the January 6th insurrectionists.

Check out some of the responses to Sorbo below.

The term “DEI” is now being widely recognized as a substitute for the N-word to be used toward Black people, including Vice President Kamala Harris.

As Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign is up and running, the attacks directed toward her by Republican politicians and other right-wing figures have had one common phrase – DEI, which stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Many are noting that it is being used in place of the n-word slur to describe Harris and other Black individuals, as expressed by Democratic strategist Ameshia Cross. “You name a Black successful person, they’re labeled “a DEI hire”. America has awakened around what this is,” Cross told the CNN panel she was a part of on Tuesday night (July 23). “It is being used as a pseudonym for the n-word when we’re talking about black people.” Cross then referenced Dr. Claudine Gay of Harvard University as an example.

“I think there’s something to be said about a push to isolate women and minority groups,” Cross said. “You are attacking so many people that are not heterosexual white men under one umbrella and I don’t think Americans are going to settle for that.” The scrutiny comes as GOP leaders held a meeting on Tuesday to urge their congressional members to stay away from using race and gender to criticize Vice President Harris, with House Speaker Mike Johnson telling reporters after, “This should not be about personalities. It should be about policy.”
The meeting didn’t seem to prevent other Republican politicians from the usage of DEI in their attacks afterward, with Wyoming Representative Harriet Hageman targeting Vice President Harris later that day. “Well, I think she’s one of the weakest candidates I’ve ever seen in the history of our country,” Hageman told a reporter. “I mean, intellectually, just really kind of the bottom of the barrel.” She would add that she thought “she was a DEI hire, and I think that that’s what we’re seeing.”

Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett had made a similar comment on Monday about Harris but wound up saying he “regrets” the comments. “Do I wish I’d said it? No, but it was the truth.”, he said in an interview with SiriusXM’s Laura Coates. Democratic representatives have floated the idea of censuring Burchett, which was confirmed by Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner is currently the host of a new podcast which made its debut earlier this week, titled Not All Hood. Alongside his co-hosts Candace Kelley and Wesui Baraka, Malcolm-Jamal Warner made waves after a clip from the podcast went viral where the famed actor shared he no longer listens to J. Cole because of the rapper’s use of the N-word.
Not All Hood debuted on Monday (June 10) and the opening episode, titled “Welcome Comrades,” served as a warmup for what’s to come with the program. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Candace Kelley, and Wesui Baraka employed a breezy, comfortable flow as they introduced the podcast and themselves to the listening and viewing audience.

During a portion of their conversation, the cast mentioned the use of the word n*gga in modern Hip-Hop which prompted Warner to also mention the use of b*tch in songs.
“I’m more against it now because it’s used so gratuitously, it’s used without regard,” Warner said to Baraka. “At this point, for me in hip-hop, I think n*gga and b*tch, there should be should be a moratorium on both of those words in hip-hop because it’s low-lying fruit and it’s so easy, everybody is f*cking does it to the point it’s corny.”
Warner added, “There are MC’s who I love who I cannot listen to anymore. I love J. Cole, but I had to stop listening to J. Cole, I got tired of hearing n*gga and b*tch every two sentences.”
The spirited discussion between Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Candace Kelley, and Wesui Baraka came with a different perspective, especially when Baraka mentioned ahead of the segment that even famed Black leaders such as the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reportedly used the word.
We’ll share the clip below, courtesy of The Art of Dialogue, along with the full episode of Not All Hood, which can be found on YouTube and wherever you listen to podcasts.

A former producer for Donald Trump’s show The Apprentice has spoken out about his appealing behavior behind the scenes.
A new column from a former producer on Donald Trump’s reality show The Apprentice has shed more light on the former president’s nature. Bill Pruitt, who worked on the NBC show for its first two seasons, said he chose to speak out once his non-disclosure agreement expired this year. He goes on to give a detailed look at his experiences and Trump’s true behavior on set which included casual racism and sexist comments. Pruitt writes that while there wasn’t initial intent to delude viewers, “if you were one of the 28 million who tuned in, chances are you were conned.”

Pruitt would recount several situations from working on The Apprentice in 2004, with one situation involving the Black contestant Kwame Jackson. When it was suggested that he had a shot at winning, Trump “winced” before saying in an off-handed way, “Yeah, but, I mean, would America buy a n— winning?” while other producers were present. “There is no discussion about what Trump said in the boardroom, about how the damning evidence was caught on tape. Nothing happens,” Pruitt writes, recalling that Trump was still insistent on not hiring Jackson.
Other incidents described by Pruitt involve how Trump would display derogatory language regarding women. In one situation during filming at Trump Tower, he’s described as ordering a woman who was operating one of the cameras off the elevator, saying “She’s too heavy.” Another female camera operator with blue eyes and blonde hair is leered at by Trump, who compares her to ex-wife Ivana and says, “There’s a beautiful woman behind that camera” before adding, “That’s all I want to look at.”
Pruitt also provides an account of Trump not paying his bills in full, through a conversation that he had with an architect who worked on one of the clubhouses at his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey. “It’s bittersweet. I’m very proud of this place, but I wasn’t paid what was promised. Trump pays half upfront but he’ll stiff you for the rest once the project is completed,” the architect says according to Pruitt. “If I tried to sue, the legal bills would be more than what I was owed. He knew that. He basically said ‘Take what I’m offering.‘”

Kid Rock, who has as much talent as most folks have in their left toenail, is still making headlines for reasons outside his make-believe music career. During a recent interview, the MAGA-loving former struggle rapper turned struggle rocker waved his gun at the journalist while dropping some racial slurs for good measure.
The career arc of Kid Rock was examined in a new interview from Rolling Stone in which journalist David Peisner looked deeper into the man, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, and how he became aligned with all things Donald Trump.
At one stretch of the interview, an intoxicated Kid Rock waved a gun along with other antics befitting a guy who seems to be nothing more than a raging clout demon. This came after Rock and Peisner were locked into a debate about Trump’s racist and xenophobic stances against immigrants, especially those hailing from Mexico.
From Rolling Stone:
By this time, I’ve long since quit drinking, but Ritchie has exchanged his white wine for Jim Beam and Diet Coke. He proceeds to drain at least three or four of them in pretty quick succession. He’s sitting in a dark leather chair, shouting at me about something or other, when he reaches behind the seat, pulls out a black handgun, and waves it around to make some sort of point.
“And I got a fucking goddamn gun right here if I need it!” he shouts. “I got them everywhere!”
This was the tenor of the next hour or so. We start talking about American history, and he rightfully brings up slavery and the genocide of Native Americans as stains on that history. I ask him if he worries that in the modern day he might be on the wrong side of history.
“No. It was the Republicans that freed the f*cking slaves!”
“Yes, but the Republicans were the progressive party back then.”
In this exact exchange, Rock refers to the infamous Trick Trick as “the hardest-hitting n*gger in Detroit” and claims that the legendary underground rapper and producer supported Rock’s embrace of Trump.
Kid Rock saw his name trending Monday (May 20) due to the Rolling Stone interview and people just generally kicking his back in. We’ve got reactions listed below.

Doja Cat is currently on her Scarlet Tour ripping stages and making sure her white fans keep the N-word out of their mouths while reciting her song lyrics.

Video of the “Say So” crafter telling her adoring caucasian fans to “Watch your mouth if you’re white” before she began performing her song “Aint Sh*t.”

How noble of her.

Some people might find Doja Cat keeping her white fans in line ironic because the rapper herself has done some questionable things, like including a racial slur in one of her song titles and allegedly, and we mean ALLEGEDLY, showing feet in white supremacist chat rooms.
She also dates Jeffrey “J” Cyrus, who was blasted in a Dlisted write-up for being highly problematic. Following photos of the couple getting cozy on a yacht, disgusted reactions to the new couple hit the X, formerly Twitter timelines.
“i can not even begin to express my disgust with jcyrus. this is so gross. i was friends and mutuals with so many people personally affected by his actions. i was even mutuals and was apart of one of his projects/streams. he is a groomer. he is a manipulator. he’s DISGUSTING,” one X user wrote.

There was also that heada** now-deleted X post where he said you should never give your Black friends Kentucky Fried Chicken or sharing a 2013 Vine with the caption reading, “black ass white boy.”
So it appears Doja Cat is out here trying to look out for Black and Brown fans at her shows after initially dogging them and losing many followers for criticizing them for calling themselves “Kittenz.”

Well, we hope Doja Cat is keeping that energy with her white boo and any white friends she has.

It appears that a Mississippi news meteorologist with a history of saying the exact wrong thing to Black people has gotten the boot after she made an ill-advised reference to rapper Snoop Dogg while on air.
According to Deadline, Barbie Bassett has not been on the air for NBC affiliate WLBT since March 8, the day she made what she probably thought was a clever quip about the idea of a Snoop collaboration with a newsroom journalist.

“Fo shizzle, my nizzle,” Bassett, who is, well not Black, said.

OK, OK — just wait a second, guys. Maybe Bassett simply didn’t understand what the “n” in “nizzle” actually stands for.
She might have been thinking, “For sure, my nephew.”  Or maybe she had no idea what any of it was translating.
“For sanctuary, my neighbor.”
“For social studies? My notebook!”
“For shares and sh*t, my network.”
“For Sizzler, my napkin.”
She could have thought she was saying any of these things.
But, again, this is apparently not Bassett’s first racist slip of the noose…I mean, tongue.
From Deadline:
The station’s chief meteorologist as well as anchor, Bassett has previously caused controversy with a comment, referring to a black reporter’s “grandmammy” on air. She later apologized.
She is no longer listed on the station’s website, according to the Clarion Ledger. And Bassett has not shared anything on Twitter since the same day – her silence including this weekend when a deadly tornado struck Mississippi, sparking huge chatter among meteorologists.
Naaaah, but hold up! Let’s be clear, Bassett didn’t just tell a Black reporter to consult her “grandmammy” about a “chocolate pie,” but she began her remarks by saying “giiiiirl” and “sis’” in the whitest ways you have ever heard those words uttered.

Bruh, my secondhand embarrassment has secondhand embarrassment.
In both videos, Bassett clearly leaves her poor co-stars bowing their heads and looking around nervously as if they’re trying to dodge the ricochet backlash they know Evil Barbara Walters is generating for herself with every word that comes out of her mouth.

It’s unclear if Bassett was actually fired, suspended or what, but if she wasn’t fired, this meteorologist’s future likely depends on her ability to withstand the storm (see what I did there?) her unmitigated caucasity has created.
I’m just saying, she might be looking for a job at Fox News soon.
